Network Drives Missing

Mapping drives on boot up
VBS logon script mapping drives via the DFS name
Only appears to affect laptops
All laptop have offline files for their U drive
Some laptops have hotfix KB2705233 installed, however  this did work with x86 version of windows 7 however appears to work some times
Error message in event log “This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain DATL due to the following: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. This may lead to authentication
problems. Make sure that this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator.
ADDITIONAL INFO
If this computer is a domain controller for the specified domain, it sets up the secure session to the primary domain controller emulator in the specified domain. Otherwise, this computer sets up the secure
session to any domain controller in the specified domain.
Error Message in event log “The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the computer name. This could be caused by one of more of the following:
a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller.
b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).
If the mapping of drives fails then the end user will map the drive using a batch file which uses the share name (\\datlbhamfss01\%sharename%\)
Mapped drives are being lost when the laptop is in use
Power option to put laptop to sleep after 30 mins of non-use.
However this can affect laptops that haven’t gone to sleep.
Error message “The network path is not found” when saving documents.
However clicking on the drive can re-connect, however the error message “The local device is already in use” can appear and the only fix is to disconnect the drive and re-run the logon script
This appears to be random
No red x appears on the drive in

Hi,
There is some confusion about your issue, can you give us the description orderly?
How did you deploy the mapped drive? Via GPP or something else?
Sorry for the current situation,  I cannot see the whole picture. But you can get some reference link about lost mapped drive:

  • Teredo Tunneling Network Driver. How to reinstall missing driver?

System Description: T60p 8244-J2U - Vista Business - Trend Micro
As the Lenovo ToolBox was indicating an error message (triangle) in Device Manager and I was unable to update the Teredo Tunneling pseudo (something) Network Driver, I uninstalled it thinking that it would reinstall automatically after I shut down and restart.  Unfortunately, that did not happen.  The driver is still missing and I am unable to go online (I am using another PC running XP to write this note) PS: If necessary, I can have access to a Lenovo X61 running Vista Business.
How do I go about re-installing the missing Teredo Tunneling Pseudo (something) network driver? Thank you.

  • Illustrator missing links when working on network drives

    Hi everyone,
I've been experiencing this problem since several versions ago. Is only that now has become more apparent since our team have started to work collaboratively in the same files. Let me explain the problem.
If I have an Illustrator file on my local drive with several images linked everything works fine. Now if I move that file (and its linked images) to a network drive which is shared by the entire team and I open the file every thing is in place as long as I'm the last person that saved the file. If a teammate open the file I've just saved in he or she computer a prompt for missing links is shown. Once the missing images are re-linked he or she can work normally and if they close the file it won't prompt a missing links message the next time he or she open the file. But if another teammate open the file from his or her computer the message shows again.
It is as if Illustrator save the paths relatively to each computer rather than to the network drive where the links sit. This behavior is really annoying since it make collaborative work a pain.
Do anyone know a fix or at least a workaround for this? (embedding images instead of linking them is not a solution since we work with large files on huge projects).
    Thanks in advance!

Well is not real time collaboration. It is more like you say, separate people sometimes end up working on the same files. This workflow is great and works flawlessly. The real problem are the linked assets (either images or others AI files placed inside a document). Each time a team member opens a file he or she need to re-link everything and it keeps correctly linked as long as he/she that saves changes to the file. The next person who open that file will need to re-link assets again.
It is as is Illustrator were unable to remember the path of links in shared drives but only in local ones.
It is not a deal breaker but certainly is quite annoying.

  • Adobe files missing from network drive after editing...

Problem started around June 1st.  PDF files are shared on the network drive.  After I edit one of the forms and resave it, the networked computers can no longer see the file listed on the network drive.  Only the hosting computer still sees them.  Also, if I resave one of the files as a new name, it will reappear on the network.  Any ideas?  Adobe Reader 11.0.03

Yes, the problem is still continuing. However, after looking into as much of it as I can, I can confirm something that r.p.b_ started stumbling on. The files are deleted IF AND ONLY IF a user is using the built-in Windows 7 disc burning utility AND is dragging
and dropping the files to the drive from a network share; this doesn't happen locally. If you watch what happens in the native folder, the files are literally scrubbed from the drive as they are processed and added to the image. However, if you Right Click
on the files and copy them, then Right Click->Paste onto the drive, they remain. (The keyboard shortcuts also worked.) Also, 3rd party disc burning utilities function they way the should. (In other words, they don't delete the files.)
My speculation is that there's a bug in the coding that sees the network share as a temporary buffer file while the image is being prepared. Then, as the files are processed in what ever way is needed, the "temporary buffer" is being deleted. The result:
lost files on a network share. But, this is just speculation.

  • OS X keeps looking for missing network drive

    Hi there,
I notice, I am not the first to ask the question, but is has not yet been answered and I'm a bit puzzled. I am using OS X 10.7 by now and ever since OS 10.6 I have noticed that - sometimes - finder seems to be looking for a network drive (a former time capsule) that is no longer mounted and available. Every once in a while I get the message that the drive "name" cannot be found.
Where can I check to get rid of any references to that old drive? It must be mapped somehwere, alas, I don't know where.
It is not in the startup items, I've checked there and there is no file sharing activated.
    Thanks in advance, Alex.

I think this solved my problem, after having checked Console:
    http://paikialog.wordpress.com/2011/08/23/how-i-fixed-my-mac-os-x-lion-slowness- issue/
    sudo mdutil -i off /Volumes/RootPartitionName

  • Missing network drives from finder

I have recently had a problem with the network drives that i've mounted showing up in the finder. I can connect to them still if i use a short cut i made. Some us of using 10.3.9 are having this issue since the server was upgraded to Tiger 10.4. Any ideas?

The "@" means the item has exended attributes. It's nothing to worry about. If you have verified that the appropriate boxes are checked in Finder prefs to show external drives on the Desktop and the Sidebar, it could be that the invisible bit has been set on the drive. Take a look at my article on the subject here:
    http://www.pinkmutant.com/articles/invisible.html
Either the Terminal command, if you have installed Developer Tools, or the Applescript should work. They always worked in Tiger, but Leopard has developed a new twist to the old problem, and in some systemes whatever is causing the problem promptly resets the bit to invisible. There is a bug report active with Apple, but no solution if you are unfortunate enough to have this happen. There have been reports associating this more intractable form of the problem with Spotlight indexing.

  • Questions on organizing/sharing music files on 3 PC networked drive

I just added 1Tb network drive to 3 pc home network... I am planning on moving my iTunes music folder from the older, smaller network drive. I exceeded the 160GB size of the old drive when converting all of the WMA losselss files to Apple lossless while maintaining the old WMA files(I still think the Windows Media Player system is superior). With the new addition to our network, I am planning on the 3 pcs sharing music files... (my wife has been using iTunes for a while, I have just recently went over to the dark side)
What is the best way to organize the files??
-How to shuffle all without the folder of Christmas & Holiday music playing.
    -Segregate each users individual files.
Any advice or suggestions are appreciated, I know it would save a lot of time and pain instead of the trial and error method.

Thanks, Jason & Mike. This is how I resolved the problem. Turned out the disk with the data was in NTFS format. Neither my eMac nor my wife's Carbon iMac (prehistoric, in other words) was able to read it, on repeated attempts. In process I discovered (to my surprise) that the external hard drive attached to my eMac (a 320 Gig My Book) was formatted in FAT 32 format, and that the PC laptop (Thinkpad) read from it, and wrote to it, without any problem. (Is FAT 32 less than optimal for use with a pre-Intel Mac?). So I just copied the needed files from the NTFS disk to the FAT 32 disk, via the Thinkpad. When I reconnected the FAT 32 drive to the eMac, it turned out that it was easy [with some fiddling] to put the titles of the new music into the iTunes Library, without having to copy the music itself into iTunes. Making playlists does still seem to have to go manually. Sometimes the "New Playlist from Selection" option automatically gives a name (the original name) to the album from which the music came, sometimes it doesn't. Rationale not clear to me. Other problem: often the sequence is jumbled (this is after I added the whole collection of folders containing music to my iTunes Library in one fell swoop). Usually it was possible to correct this by copying track names for albums one album at a time from the external HD (in Columns view, selecting all the tracks in each folder simultaneously) directly into the playlist; the playlist name then always had to be copied or typed in separately. I don't know if I'm missing an easier route. Also, I see that I have version 4.7.1 of iTunes - I'll download a newer version! Don't know whether newer version will affect what I want to do in a positive sense.

  • I have an iPod Touch but I currently don't have a PC.  I found an app that would allow me to connect to my network drive and I was able to transfer music files to it.  These files do not show under the Music app and I can't find any way to do it.

I need help from some Apple people. I have an iPod Touch and I wanted to load it up with some fresh music but I currently don't have a PC. I found an app that would allow me to connect to my 2TB network drive directly and I was able to transfer a bunch of music files to the iPod. Unfortunately, these new files do not show under the Music app and I can't seem to find any way to convince the iPod that they are music. I can play them through the file manager only. Android doesn't have this problem, any music I put on my phone is recognized as music and can be played through any of the music apps. Am I missing something or is Apple to inflexible to handle this?

You can't. The only way to get songs in the Music app is to sync from a computer or to download from iTunes.

  • How can I get a Powershell script which maps network drives to execute at logon to any workstation in my domain

I want to map network drives for each user when they logon to any workstation in the network.  I have created and tested the PS1 script which works fine where the drives attach and used persistent parameter.  I have updated the Windows 7 Professional
64-bit workstation to the latest PS 4.0 code.  I have created the GPO and believe everything is assigned properly.  I made changes to allow execution of local and remote signed scripts.  I have forced the changes on a workstation using GPUPDATE

You picked the local sysvol path on the DC which does not exist on

The Path to the script MUST be an UNC path starting like

  • How do I get network drives to show in left panel of media browser

Okay, I'm new to audition.  When I start Audition's media browser, only the local HDD's are shown.  If I OPEN FILE, I can navigate to find tyhe network drive and Audition will open the file.  Also the network drives show in Windows Explorer.  I searched the FAQs and the help file, but maybe I'm not using the "magic words"  So, how to I get these network drives to appear?
Windows 7 64 bit home premium
home built 3.67 gb Intel Quad core, 12 GB RAM, Several local HDDs
    Audition CS6
    Thank you

I'm not sure this is correct.  I have mapped a NAS to drive "Z" and mapped a drive on my video editing desktop to drive "Y."  These both show up in the left panel of the media browser for Premiere and Photoshop as the share names  "MYDOCS" and "BAAAA,"  as well as in Windows Explorer.  But not in Audition. Only the local drives are shown in Audition's media browser.
I can open a file in audition by using BROWSE by clicking on "MYDOCS" or "BAAAA" as they appear in the Windows Explorer file dialong and then navigating on those drives to the desired files.
What am I missing?  Do others have their network drives show in the left panel of Audition's media browser?

I am OK to ignore the error. But better option will be SQL Developer take care of this situation.
My intention is to keep SQL Developer on a readonly share folder and send the path to end users.
Ideally I wish I could use UNC path so that I dont have to worry about the drive mapping.

  • Connection to the deployment share could not be made (network driver not installed)

Hi guys! i bought the new laptop Dell Latitude E6510 and try to install the enterprise image but i got the error:
"A connection to the deployment share could not be made. The deployment will not proceed. The following networking device did not have a driver installed PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10EA&SUBSYS_040B1028&REV_05."
I look on internet and i found out that it is the intel network card driver missing. So i get the driver from Dell website and i added this drivers in the MDT console.
Then i have updated the deployment share to rebuild the boot images. Everything went fine but i always get this error.
    Am I missing something ?

I too was having the problem...
the single thing that I was forgetting is that while I was recreating & regenerating the images in the deployment workbench. I wasn't burning & booting from a CD...
because (aha) I'm clever & using Windows deployment services to boot across the network & save all that time burning CDs etc.
Doh, I didn't update the WIM that WDS was using...
Open your windows deployment services console,
    expand out servers : <server name> : boot images
Right click your boot image (I have 2, one for x86 & one for x64),
choose "replace image" then navigate to your newly regenerated WIM images
(probably C:\deployment_share\boot) & choose the appropriate WIM file.
do this for any images you have, reboot your client machine & BAM, deployment goodness.
MS should really add a module for PXE boot (etc) into the deployment workbench rather than have 2x deployment solutions & use the deployment module from one & the boot module from the other.
Anyhoo, works now, must make a mental note to remember this in future...
    Cheers Toolman
Thank you for this.  This resolved the issue that I had.

  • ITunes library on network drive, no longer able to download from store

I have my iTunes library stored on a WD My Cloud drive.  Suddenly today I have found that I cannot download anything from the iTunes store (movies or music).
I get an error saying "The required folder cannot be found.  Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again."
I have the WD drive mapped to Drive M and my iTunes library points to the iTunes folder on that drive.  I have confirmed the drive is up and the connection is good.
I can play music and movies in iTunes from that drive.
I have shut down iTunes and rebooted the computer multiple times.
    I'm running Windows 8.1 x64
    ITunes version 12.1.2.27
I'm looking for any help at all.  I'm getting quite frustrated.
I do have iTunes set to Keep iTunes Media folder organized and also set to Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library

    turingtest2 wrote:
Is the whole library on the network drive, or just the media folder? Is it a NAS or a shared folder on another Windows machine? A USB connected drive as your primary library with the network drive as backup may be a more robust solution. If you library files are on the system drive see Make a split library portable.

I had the entire library on the network drive.  At one time I used it with just the movies on a drive that was plugged into my router but that was a hassle.  So I bought the 4TB network drive hoping this would be an easier solution and I could store everything on it.
It had work fine for a while but I do not know what happened.  Nothing I tried worked.  I successfully moved my library to my USB 3.0 drive and it is working just fine.  I am able to download from the iTunes store now.
Now, I did discover that some movies were missing but I can re-download them easily.
What I don't understand is that if I view my purchases in the iTunes store and tell it to show only movies that are not in my library it shows a whole lot of things that ARE in my library.

  • A few questions about setting up a network drive

    Hello,
I have been trying setup a private server on my home network. I have a Netgear WNDR 3800 and have been trying to hook up my 2TB external drive to the router.
I have been trying to decide how I want to format the drive, and how many partitions I should use.
The reason I have a 2TB drive is because I needed a work space to create a image of a corrupt 500GB drive. The 500GB drive had my entire digital life on it, and it was almost lost. I dont want to encounter the same issue with a 2TB drive because at that point I feel like any issues would make it difficult for me to recover the data due to work space size issues. This is why I am thinking about using several partitions, but I am not sure what issues this might present.
As far as format goes; the router says it supports read/write with FAT 16/32, NTFS, EXT 2/3, and I know it works with HFS. Here are the things that I am trying to do with the drive. (in order of importance)
Use it as a Time Machine backup location for 1 possible more MBP's
As a media sever to stream downloaded movies and music to A/V reciever (Pioneer VSX-822)  and possibly other devices on the network
Act as a temporary storage location to swap files between devices or operating systems
If possible not keep media on my computer and stream it from the network drive when I am home
And, thats all I can think of right now. If there is something else useful I am missing that would need special attention in setting up a network drive let me know.
So, I have had no problems getting the drive to connect and show up on the network when I use HFS. I have also been able to get multiple partitions to show up; been able to back up to different partitions; including time machine on one partition.
So here is where I am running into problems; the router bios allows you to enable a media sever. I believe the router tries to do something with DLNA. DLNA I believe allows for a similar functions to airplay and cloud for basically all compatible non apple products. I dont care if I use DLNA, or Airplay. I just want to be able to access my music library over the network without having to have my computer open, or my iphone on me..ect.
So I was wondering if anyone could help me out, or if there are any articles I should look at that I might have missed while I have been researching.
Edit: I am sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, I figured the best people to ask about filesystem compatability and ease of use was going to be the System software section
