Network Error... help!

About 2 months ago I switched high-speed providers and now I can no longer publish my website or use my isight in iChat...
Do you have any suggestions? I have checked my firewall to make sure that no ports were blocked, and the provider did the same. The text error that iWeb gives me says network error, contact network administrator...

As far as I know, iWeb publishing uses the WebDAV protocol which operates over Port 80, which is the same port that your web surfing goes through, so unless there is a web proxy being used at your broadband provider...
Here's an Apple document detailing the ports that iChat uses...
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93208
And here is a very helpful explanation of all of these ports for iChat from our very own Ralph Johns...
http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page3.html
I have a friend who has the same issues with both iChat and iWeb.... but he is using some strange satellite broadband service because he can't get cable or DSL.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

I am getting "a network error occurred while attempting to read from the file c:\windows\installer\itunes.msi" when I attempt to install itunes.  Can anybody help me to resolve this issue?

You can try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download the iTunes installation
Also try posting in the iTunes forum since it is not an iPod touch problem.

my macbook pro is connected to internet via my time capsule but my iPad and iPhone won't. it shows wifi connection to the time capsule but when i go on to the internet on the iPad or iPhone, it comes up with network error. can anyone help?

This can be caused by a number of issues.
Was everything working and then suddenly stopped??
Or is this a new clean setup and has never worked.
Do you have a cable modem which is not a router and the TC setup in bridge? That will cause it. The TC must be in router mode, ie dhcp and nat.
Check the IP the MBP gets including dns and gateway..
Then check the ipad/iphone.. post what IP dns and gateway (router in applespeak) they get.

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

Both parties must be connected to wifi to use FaceTime (and you must have FaceTime turned on in Settings>Facetime).  If you're phone shows 3G at the top when it's on, you're not connect to wifi; you'll have to solve that problem first.

  • Help - upgrade 'network' error 10.5.5

I am not able to download the latest 10.5.5 upgrade from Software Update. As soon as it attempts to download, a 'Network Error -3000' shows up. It then says I should check my internet connection. The internet connection is fine and other software updates (eg. latest Java version) worked fine. Any help is appreciated.
(BTW, only recently I replaced my Airport Extreme (domed one) with Time Capsule.

You can try again at another time. It might be network congestion.
You can also manually download and install the update from here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1055update.html
    since you already have 10.5.4
or if you prefer the full combo update, from here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1055comboupdate .html
    Download, open and follow instructions.
