Network Extender Dropping Calls when handing off to Outdoor Network

If I stand right next to my network extender, it works great.  the moment I move outside a 15 ft ring, I begin to drop calls.  i believe it is because my Blackberry is now getting a stronger signal from the outdoor network and I should be handing off to outdoor network.  Instead of the call continuing, it drops.    Also, the same thing happens when I am on a call inside my house, get into my car and drive away; I drop the call.  I have called VZW Tech support and was told to power down the unit, yadda, yadda, yadda and call back if I still have the problem. Well, I still have the problem, so I am posting this in the hope someone has seen this and it saves me the hour long support call that doesn't resolve my issue...

I have the exact same problem with a Verizon/Samsung network extender that started dropping calls after about 30 seconds into a conversation. This problem started at almost the exact same time as those reported on this forum. Verizon has not once mentioned that it may be a problem on their end and we quit using the extender almost a year ago. However, with new smart phones in the household and multiple reception problems, we need to find a solution. I think Verizon owes its customers/supporters a solution since it sold the extender devices to the consumers at substantial expense. I for one, would like to either get my money back along with the time spent trying to rectify the problem, or get a solution that will allow us to carry on conversations in our home. It is ridiculous with the amount of money spent on monthly Verizon Phone bills, that we get such poor service - simply ridiculous!

  • If I got an unlocked iPhone 4s would I be able to use a 3G network? Like so when there is no wifi network can I use a 3G network if I got an unlocked iPhone? Or do you have to have a locked iPhone to do this?

if I got an unlocked iPhone 4s would I be able to use a 3G network? Like so when there is no wifi network can I use a 3G network to go on the internet when i am out if I got an unlocked iPhone? Or do you have to have a locked iPhone to do this?

If I am reading your question correctly, yes if there is no wifi
you can use 3G IF you have a contract with a wireless provider
and the appropriate SIM card if required. Being unlocked does not
give you access to 3G for free; you still have to pay for it. Same
for locked iPhone. Difference is that you would have to get contract
with whatever provider the iPhone is locked to if you have locked
iPhone; if iPhone is unlocked, you will have to make a choice from
    your local providers.
If this does not answer your questions, please post back with more
details and someone will answer you.

  • Very poor coverage - just got an iphone 5s - typically 1-2 bars.  Dropped calls when I switch rooms.  Right in the middle of Palo Alto/Stanford area - zip code 94305

Crazy - never had any issues with AT&T - thinking about going back.....  Brand new iphone 5S. I've reset the network, disabled and enabled imessaging. Any thoughts?

        Kent,
We do not want to see you go. Thank you for all the troubleshooting you have done thus far. I do not see any service alerts in your area. Do you only have issues inside your home with dropped calls? Do you also have issues with data and text? Are you connected to Wifi in your home?

  • Latest Pre Update -- Dropping calls when face touches screen

I am having tremendous issues of being on a call and the PRE is hanging up on calls.  This only surfaced during the last release.  Has anyone had this issue.  This is a deal breaker.  Why have a phone that hangs up????
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

It sounds like an issue with the proximity sensor not turning the screen off as it approaches your face. There is a test for this in the Device Info, Preferences, Interactive tests, Screen. See if that test runs fine for you. Do it a few times and see if sometimes it does not work.
I have noticed a couple times after 1.3.1 after a call when I went to hang up the screen was not on the dialer but the contact info page for the person I was talking too. Which comes up if you tap there name while on a call. This never happened before 1.3.1 . But it has not happened for awhile now either.

  • 3G dropping calls when i slide to answer?

my dad's 3G has been dropping his received calls when he slides to answer them. this happens about 60% of the time. any ideas on what the problem could be? any help would be appreciated. we both got our 3G's at the same time and with the same carrier. i haven't experienced anything wrong with mine.

so far all i've done is reset all settings. it's hard to test whether the problem has been rectified because it occurs 50-60% of the time. but i tested it by calling with the house phone and also from my phone and it worked fine. so i'm just trying to get some info/tips incase it's still a problem tomorrow. also the phone is less than a month old :s

  • My 4s is dropping calls when switching towers- my 3GS did not have the same problem in the same areas?

This 4S is a major step backward for my compared to my 3GS-  Less battery life, much poorer ability to switch signal types without losing the call.  What are they thinking adding all these bells and whistles without making a damned battery that can get through a full day and an antenna that can handle a variable network?  This stuff was solved YEARS ago by Blackberry.
I've done the location off fix for the battery- no help whatsoever.  Any ideas on the tower change call drop problem?!  Very frustrated that I spent $400 on this POS

...and the fact that I'm locked into this thing for 2 years is absurd when it's so flawed.  What a scam.

  • IPhone dropping calls when around Verizon FIOS router

    Hello,
I have first generation of iPhone running 2.2.1. At home I have Verizon FIOS. I have noticed that at home if I dont switch off wifi on my iPhone, I get dropped phone calls. If I am connected to wifi and I make a phone call, within a minute or two I can not hear a thing. If I switch off wifi on my iPhone and make calls then everything goes fine. This is also true when I am receiving calls. I dont have this problem when I am around routers other than the FIOS router I have at home. Has anyone experienced this and know how to fix it?

i have FIOS but i haven't experienced that problem because i have the wifi in the FIOS router turned off and have an Airport Extreme bridged to the FIOS router supplying the wifi.
if you don't have any wifi devices then maybe you can just turn off the wifi in the FIOS router.

  • Dropping Calls when using Bluetooth

My Droid Bionic pairs fine with my Bluetooth, (Jabra Cruiser 2)  it even streams the music through my radio just fine.   I also use the car dock for my Bionic.  However when I'm on a phone call after about 2 mins, the call just drops out.  Happens every single time I'm on a phone call.  Very annoying!   Is this a problem with the Bluetooth software or is there a setting I can change?  HELP!

        Hi Sandy0380,
I use a Bluetooth device all day and I can understand how frustrating this issue can be. It sound more like a compatibility issue. Did you check with Bluetooth manufacturer to ensure full compatibility with your phone? While Bluetooth is a very comprehensive technology that allows wireless connection between 2 devices, some Bluetooth profiles may not be fully compatible.

  • Socket options to support hand off across wireless networks

    Hello,
I'm developing an application client which connects to a server and is meant to run on PCs. I want to make sure that my client application doesn't disconnect when the user moves from one network to another network (one cafe to another cafe).
Is there any socket option to support this kind of client application requirements?

You had better take this up with Tim ( http://www.w3.org/People/Berners-Lee/ ) and the co-inventors if the Internet protocols.
This nonsense is frequently encountered in newspapers and magazines, but I'm surprised to see it repeated here. Tim Berners-Lee is not an inventor or co-inventor of any Internet protocols except HTTP, which follows exactly the same principles as FTP, SMTP, etc: very tolerant line-oriented headers, and MIME-encoded data. These principles, not to mention the Internet protocols proper like IP, ICMP, UDP, TCP, etc., were invented by people like Vincent Cerf, decades before Berners-Lee had anything to do with it. Have a look at the authors and the dates on the RFCs. Berners-Lee is also credited with 'inventing' HTML which is a mild reworking of IBM SGML.:-) I stand corrected.
