Network Face Time from ATT to Verizon

Are there any current issues when making network Face Time calls from one carrier to another? Considering changing carriers and upgrading to 6S.

There shouldn't be as FaceTime uses Apple servers to do facetime.

    Is the router to small?
Not necessarily, if you are using Facetime all the data goes through your WiFi router, your cable/DSL modem, your ISP and the internet to Apple's Facetime servers and then, in reverse, down to the Facetime recipient. If your ISP connection is too slow or there is excessive traffic on the internet you can have Facetime problems.
Most WiFi routers can handle this unless others in the house are also using WiFi at the same time. The problem may be your ISP connection or congestion on the internet, etc.

Where did the photos on the iPhone come from? What is in Camera Roll on the iPhone?
Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad and iPhone?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10-15 seconds).
    No data will be lost.

Hello with ios5 I had face time from my iPhone to my iPad but now with ios6 I can't.can anybody help me

If the apps are compatible with the iPad (e.g. iOS version and they don't require full phone capability) then as long as they are still available in the store, and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to buy them, then you should be able to re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

  • Face Time from Mexico

Did a Face Time from San Carlos Mexico to New York City for 1/2 hour...worked fatastic at no cost! Face Time does has some issues with corporate firewalls and I don't know how many corporate IT guys are interested in opening the ports to allow for it. They seem to get nervous at the idea of messing with the firewall. If they would open up Face Time to ichat it would expand the possibilities for us early buyers.
I have used the original iphone since introduction and was very happy until now. Now, I am estatic. My iphone 4 with the bumper does not drop calls (I bought a case for my old phone too), great email contacts and calendar from our corporate exchange server, has great camera and video, terrific applications, an unbelievable display.... I can't believe the streaming video I get through Etrade from CNBC. I am sorry that some are having problems, but out of 2 million phones there may be some lemons out there?

You hit the nail on the head. My wife and I tried a facetime call when we were both under WiFi at home. When we tried testing it at the mall (where we ordered the iPhones from an AT&T store), the Face Time didn't work. So we marched into the AT&T store and asked why. The associate told us that "for security purposes, Port 40 is closed." No wonder they didn't want the phones delivered to the stores. People might ask questions! Face Time requires Port 40 to be open in order to operate. The only logical explanation for this is that a couple of perverts could misuse the application to transmit restroom shots or something. So you and your Face Time partner need to both be in a WiFi area, and both of you need to have Port 40 open. Now, I cannot see this being a problem if one partner is home and the other is at an out-of-town hotel.

  • Switching iPhone 4s from ATT to Verizon in Santa Fe, NM

    Hi All,
From the subject line: I am currently living in Washington DC and ATT service is reasonably good.  In Santa Fe, NM where I am moving, ATT has awful service and Verizon has a much better reputation.  I am considering switching upon my move.  What are the significant differences between ATT and Verizon on the iPhone?  I understand that data network access and phone calls cannot happen simultaneously. Not a situation I usually encounter.   Are there any other significant differences that I should know about?
    Thanks.....

At some point will I be asked to set up the phone as a Verizon device (I am porting my number from AT&T)? Or does iTunes/Apple read the serial number of my phone and "know" it is a Verizon unit tied to my specific number? How exactly does this step work?
The phone will come with activation instructions. The activation servers will "know" what carrier the phone belongs to. You will probably have to call an 800 number to finish accepting the contract.
Did you specify in the ordering process that you wanted to port over your AT&T number? If yes, the phone will be activated with your number. The port process usually takes about 5-30 minutes. During that time, you can make outgoing calls from either phone but only your AT&T phone will ring. Once the port process is complete, you'll get a text on your Verizon phone. At that point, the AT&T phone will no longer be connected to your number.
If you didn't request the port, you'll need to call customer service.
Yes, you MUST leave your AT&T account active until the port process is complete or you will lose your number.
    Best of luck.

  • How do I call a Mac computer with Face Time from my iPhone 4?

I just upgraded my iMac to OS X Lion and I now have Face Time on my desktop computer. I figured out how to MAKE a call from my desktop to someone's iPhone. But, I can't figure out how to call my desktop computer FROM my iPhone 4? I tapped the phone icon. Then, selected my house from my contact list. When I selected my home e-mail address, it just loaded a blank e-mail. There was no option to call that e-mail address with Face Time. Help? Oh, and I'm running iOS 4.2.10 on my Verizon iPhone 4, so I know I have the required version on my phone.
Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

Oh, and by the way, I also just tried calling my iPhone 4 from my iMac with Face Time and my iPhone didn't even ring. Also, I've read through posts in other forums and everyone is talking about a Face Time camera icon that appears next to a contact's name. I don't have that at all. So, maybe I don't actually have the right versions of the software?

  • Face Time from  OS 6.1.3 to OS 7 not working

I am trying to make call from an iPod using OS 6.1.3 to an iPad using 7.0.2 and it will not connect. If I make the call from the iPad to the iPod the connection is great. The iPod's OS is not upgradable.
    Any suggestions?

    You said:
The iPod and iPad are two different Apple IDs and Wi-Fi only. Am I correct in understanding that under these conditions Face Time uses the email registered in the Apple ID?
    What do you mean
What I would do would be to delete the contact for the "person/device" you are calling. Have them/device call you and then save the caller/device in your contacts and then try to call the perso/device back.

  • Can't connect Face Time from my iPhone 4S to my iMac

Hello, I have a problem similar to one many people seem to be having, in that I can't get Face Time to connect. The difference with me is that I can Face Time connect from the iMac to the iPhone 4S but not vice versa. When I try the latter, the connect button appears momentarily on the iMac before disappearing and an alert appearing on the iphone saying that the email address I'm trying to contact "is busy"
The same applies to my MBP
    Any suggestiions for fixes
I am in the UK, by the way, using O2 with wifi.

are you using the same Apple ID on both devices? If so, that is the problem. Its much like trying to call your own phone number with a regular phone, you'll be forwarded straight to voicemail.
let me know if this helps.

  • If my daughter calls me on face time from her iPad and she doesn't have wifi, will it be used as data and use a lot?

If my daughter doesn't have wifi and we face time, will she use data on her end?

Note that not all carriers allow FaceTime over a cell connection, and some that do require you to sign up for specific service plans. As to data usage, a report on The Unofficial Apple Weblog indicated that a  47-minute FaceTime call over 3G used about 65 megabytes of data. You can estimate your usage from there.
    Regards.
