Network Firewall Help!

Hi!
I'm running a fairly new mac book and I play online poker at home on my own wireless network.
It runs on a flash player window, that loads up the game.
However, when I'm at university, I log onto the wireless network, however they obviously have a firewall up. I can log in, yet when I open the flash player window, it loads to 100 per cent, then stops, saying there is a firewall preventing my access. Is there any way to get around this firewall????

If it works correctly at home but not at the university on the same computer with the same software configuration, it is being blocked by the university's firewall and nothing done on your computer will affect it. You need to contact the university's IT staff.

My iphone 4s is no longer detecting wifi since the IOS8 updates came out. I've restarted, rest the networks, reset the phone back to factory settings, and even tried the freezer trick. It is STILL not detecting ANY wifi networks. HELP!!! I cannot afford to go over my data and I use wifi at home and work... I believe the updates have caused the issue, because it was working fine before the second update released (I hadn't put the first one one until I noticed it had stopped working, and by then the second IOS8 version had came out). They need to do a third update to fix this issue.

    If it's grayed out:
Reset Network Settings - if that doesn't fix it, then Backup and Restore AS A NEW DEVICE.
If it's still grayed out, unfortunately that means your Wi-Fi antenna quit, and it needs service.

  • HP Support Assistant stopped working after HP Network Check Helper was installed

My computer model: HP Pavilion SlimLine s5-1160 desktop with Windows 7 64-bit Media Center
While I was away from my computer this morning HP installed HP Network Check Helper. When I returned there was a message that I needed to restart the computer. Upon restarting I received the same message. After trying several more times I disabled the helper using Manage Add-ons, but the restart computer message keeps appearing. When I tried to open HP Support Assistant it would not open, but instead the restart message popped up. In HP Setup Manager I clicked on Get Assistance, then Launch Support Assistant, and got....the restart message. If I open HP's Windows Help and Support and click on "Contact Support (Get in touch with someone at HP)" I get....the restart message. I re-installed HP Support Assistant with the latest version on the the HP website. Upon restarting the computer I got....the restart message.
So, the computer keeps telling me I need to restart it, HP Support Assistant will not open, and I can't obtain an HP support number to call by clicking on "Contact Support (Get in touch with someone at HP)". Does anyone know a number I can call to "Get in touch with someone at HP"?
    Thanks.

Is Mac's firewall sufficient or is will an additional firewall help?  What security suite do you recomend for MacBook Air with Maverick?

Third party security software is better at causing problems then it is at solving them.
    I recommend against them.
If you felt it is necessary then configure the firwall software included with OS X.

    Hi,
The "HP Network Check is a comprehensive network diagnostic that can automatically diagnose, repair and easily help you troubleshoot the issue that is preventing your network or Internet from functioning correctly."
The HP Network check is part of the HP Support Assistant.  Is the above what you are referring to?
You will find HP Network Check under the Internet and Security topics in latest version of HP Support Assistant.

  • Activated SIM card through vaya for my ipad3, iPad tells me I am not subscribed to a cellular network. Help!

Have just activated SIM card through vaya for my ipad3, iPad tells me I am not subscribed to a cellular network. Help! I have contacted vaya who tell me to contact apple, is there a setting that needs to be changed? My iPad shows that I have 3G service. The plan I have activated is a 4g data plan but it is meant to revert to 3G when 4G is not available. Any help would be much appreciated!

I have done that and it is definitely on.  My husband has the exact same phone and I upgraded his IOS at the same time, but this problem is not happening to his phone (we are also on the same plan, so our service should be the same).  Our settings appear to be identical and my phone is showing the 3G symbol at the top, so I can't understand why it won't access the network.
I've turned it on and off twice and have reset all settings with my iTunes account, but it still isn't working.
I'm not a complete idiot with this sort of stuff - I have tried all the obvious things.

  • VSG and Virtual Network firewalling

    Hello,
Just a basic doubt: as per Virtual network firewalling (like VSG or vShield), I assume that we only need a virtual firewall when very different VM's or tennants share the same L2 domain, right?...otherwise (when these different security domains have different L2 domains), one already has physical firewalling in place on the physical L3 layer.
    Am I wrong?
    Thanks,

Correct.  The VSG & vShield are position to mainly protect L2 communication or Intra-ESX VM communication where the networking traffic may never leave the host/hypervisor.

    Robert

I have a first generation touch with OS3.1.3.  When I turned it on yesterday and tried to connect to Wi-Fi;  It says choose a Network, but none display.  If I hit "other", nothing shows; it won't even recognize my home network.  Help!   This has never happened before!

Nothing is grayed out.  It just doesn't want to find any networks.  Usually, a whole list appears; mine is at the top.  It tries to connect less than 2 seconds and just stops...nothing appears.

  • Unable to access certain sites- network prefences help?

I'm having issues connecting to certain websites with 'unusual' top level domains like .me or .tv sites. For example, when I try to visit the site www.formspring.me I get the message "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.formspring.me." (I get the same error on Safari) Now, I can access Formspring via a proxy site, which makes this seem like Formspring is being blocked via a firewall, except I have no firewall set. I spoke with my internet provider (Verizon) and they are useless.
I'm operating on Mac OSX 10.5.8. I have no firewall set on my router, and haven't touched any Network settings that I know of. Any suggestions? Help?

Ok, I tried that and I still get the error "Unable to Connect."
I've tried using my laptop on other internet connections (at my friend's house, at work, at Starbucks) and I still get the "Unable to Connect" when i attempt to open sites that end in .me or .tv
I called Apple and they didn't do anything- they kept saying it was my router's problem, but since I've tried other internet connections I think it's my laptop's issue.

  • Macbook Internet Network Hacking (Help Please!)

Hi, Thanks for looking...  I am concerned that my apartment neighbor (a computer network engineer) might be trying to hack my Macbook and snoop around with my internet usage, and possibly access my Macbook remotely. Could someone please answer a few questions to ease my concerns please? (The Macbook is connected directly to the broadband modem and there is no wireless internet involved.)
// I suspect he might have gotten physical access to my broadband modem and seen it, is there any information on the modem itself that would give him access to my macbook and internet usage? (The modem says: cable RF MAC Address... and a serial number)
// How easy is it to hack a specific Macbook? Say if my neighbor was indeed a hacker, and wanted to mess with me for whatever reason, would it actually be possible to find out my internet IP address (could he hack the ISP?) to snoop around with how I use the internet? (The Macbook now has the firewall enabled and file sharing, etc. switched off.)
I know very little about this computer networking stuff, so I'm thinking the worst scenario is happening (which is hopefully far-fetched and exaggerated.) If anyone could help me by sharing their knowledge that would be an awesome help! Thanks!

Depending on the router, it may be very easy for him to hack it, whether he has seen it or not. If you believe this may have happened, see How to manage a hacked wireless router.
As for hacking the Mac, that's not a significant concern unless he has had unmonitored physical access to the machine. If he has, the only way to be sure he hasn't installed something to monitor you is to erase the hard drive and reinstall everything from scratch.
If he is able to get on the same network as you - which you should make sure to prevent by securing your wireless router - be sure everything in System Preferences -> Sharing is turned off. If you must have a service there turned on, be sure it can only be accessed using a strong password.
