Network i/o metric meaning

In the supermetrics page in vROps I see a metric called network i/o -> 4000.  What does the "4000" metric refer to ?
Thanks!

Looks like a question not for vRO but for vROps community https://communities.vmware.com/community/vmtn/vcenter/vcops

  • Multiple network adapters and metric settings

I can't seem to get Windows to use the preferred wired adapter over the wireless.  I have set a manual metric value to each adapter and it shows correctly in the route table but that doesn't seem to matter.  Its still always defaulting to using
the wireless adapter.  I changed the order in the advanced settings on Manage network connections as well but nether seem to work.

My LAN is connected to a router that makes a connection to my office.  The wifi is connected to my home wifi.
So if I connected to something in the office and then turn on the wifi i get immediately disconnected and can't get back in until i turn off the wifi.  I can also run nslookup and with the wifi turned on it always goes to the wifi router.   I use
the wifi to access a shared storage i use with other computers in my house.
At one time this did work with this setup but last week i swapped out my drive for a larger one and re installed windows, hasn't worked since.

    Hi,
As this setup did work at one time, so I think all settings you made is right, according to your description, the issue happened after you reinstall Windows, the system might lose some important updates, I suggest you check for updates, and keep all important
updates. Meanwhile, please reinstsall the network adapter driver as a test, it's recommended to look for the driver in the manufacture website.

  • I just reset my network settings (settings-general-reset-reset network settings) does that mean that I can no longer connect to my sprint 3G?

Please help!!! My phone has just been saying "Searching..." for the past 3 days where it would usually say Sprint 3G up in the top left corner. I just reset my network settings in the hopes that it would help.  I just wanna make sure I didn't make it worse!!!

I also need help on how to fix the "Searching..." problem
what should I do, where should I go, etc.

  • What Do Apple's Network Diagnostics Status Icons Mean?

Just got cable internet. I have an Airport Extreme A1034 which can't get Internet access via a Motorola cable modem. Has always worked great in the past on DSL ISP's.
When I run OS 10.7's Network Diagnostics "Assist me" the top four status lights (icons) are green: Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Settings, Network Settings, and ISP. The bottom two status lights are red (failed): Internet and Server.
Apple Airport Utility reports wireless router is hooked up and functioning properly. Cable company support says even though they can "see" the connected Apple device, it's a problem with the Apple Extreme, not their service.
Can I tell from these status lights if the problem is with my system and, if so, where to start looking to resolve the problem? Thanks.

    Just got cable internet.
Old network saying......change one thing on a network and everything will change.
Cable is a whole different animal than DSL. Start with the User Tip linked below from forum expert Tesserax. Follow each step completely throughout the whole process.
In a nutshell, your new cable modem is not associating with the AirPort Extreme correctly. The steps provided by Tesserax will likely fix that problem.

  • My Airport Extreme is flashing yellow, but I still have internet connections and iPhone access to the network.  Does this mean that my network has been hacked or something else?

The light on my Airport Extreme is flahing yellow, but I still have network access to the internet with no issues.  PLus, I can still get into the network with my iPhone, too.
DO I have a problem (such as net work being hacked)?
Was going to shop and don't want my cc number scattered all over creation.
    Thanks.

    Suggest the following:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
Click directly on the word Status (2nd line on the summary page)
A window will open to explain why the amber light is blinking and offer suggested actions to remedy things.
If everything seems to be working OK, it might simply be a message that an update is available for your AirPort Extreme.
Now you know what to do next time the amber light is blinking.

  • What is Network In and Network Out Metrics on Cloud Service

    Hi,
We have hosted Cloud Services on Azure through Visual Studio Online & Setup basic Performance metrics. However not sure about Network In and Network Out Metrics on Cloud Services hosted through Visual Studio Online.
    Please explain.

    Hi,
I dont think it makes any difference if deployed via VSO, as far as i know the the Network In/Out metric include the
    Performance Counter
"Bytes Received/Bytes Sent", You will be charged only for the Network Out (Outbound Data).
If you have more questions/doubts I would suggest you create a Free Billing/Subscription ticket from the link below.

  • How to connect my mac to only one wireless network?

How to connect my mac to only one wireless network?

Do you mean that there are several wireless networks within range, and you don't want it switching between them?

  • Can't Connect to any WiFi network

I just got my iPhone yesterday and I'm already having a serious problem,I can't connect to any WiFi networks.
I can see the networks around me and I can select networks that I've setup and I know are open or I know the security passwords, I can even enter the network passwords for the ones that require them and it accepts them without complaint. When I select a network I get a little check mark next to that network which I assumes means it should be connected to that network. However, the iPhone never actually connects to them, i.e. no IP address, no router no nothing in the network settings screen for each network, and always appears to the using the Edge wireless network when accessing the internet.
I've tried DHCP and static IP but neither works.
I updated the phones software to 1.1.4, has anybody reported problems like this with this or any version of the software.
Any help would be much appriciated.
If I can't get this resolved today I'm returning to the AT&T store tonight for a new one.
    Thanks
    Matt S.

    theevilone,
I have personally used an iPhone with routers from D-Link, Netgear, Linksys, Apple and Belkin.
Some routers, regardless of manufacturer need to have their firmware updated. Generally speaking if you look at the release notes, the same updates that resolve issues with DHCP for game systems and PDAs, also resolves them for the iPhone.
In addition hardware or MAC address filtering can cause issues where you connect to the network and not get DHCP.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Resetting Time Capsule - network is OK, but no longer connects to internet

I've set up my TC in the past and it's worked fine, but periodic printer or router updates have caused problems and I think I need to completely reset it.
My setup is an ISP-suppled Orange Livebox Mini router connecting to the internet, an iMac plugged in by ethernet (connects to internet OK) and my TC connected to this router by ethernet. My MacBook Pro then connects wirelessly to the TC network. This setup means I don't need to have two wireless networks, I can disable the Livebox router's wireless network and use only the Time Capsule wireless. However, that's not working. I can create a wireless network with my MacBook Pro but the TC is unable to get an internet connection despite being connected by ethernet to the router. I think I need a total reset but even when I do a manual reset by sticking a pin in the tiny button on the back of the TC, when Airport Utility finds the TC to recreate a wireless network, I find the old settings. I feel this is, or should be, simple stuff as I managed to set it up before, but this time it's just not happening. For a long time I thought this was just a problem with wireless settings on my Lexmark printer and waited for the Apple/Lexmark updates to come through, but now I think my TC settings need to be flushed out. One thing that looks odd to me is the IP address on the TC. It's 169.xxx.xxx.xxx, I thought it should be nearer the range specified by the Livebox router, something more like 192.168.x.x
    thanks.

Oh joy and happiness, I solved it myself, and I owe it to the community to give some details for the benefit of anyone with the same problem searching on terms like Orange Livebox Mini.
I solved it by racking my brains till inspiration came - that it was a very very well hidden setting on the router itself that was the problem, nothing to do with Time Capsule. I had called Orange to fix this before, but had forgotten that this little setting needs changing from its default every time you reset the router.
When you have to reset your Orange Livebox router, they more than likely won't ask about your entire setup, they will get one of your computers working by connecting it by ethernet to the primary ethernet port, numbered '1' on the back and with a red stripe next to it. But there are two, number 2 has a yellow coloured stripe and if your main computer, in my case the (desktop) iMac right next to the router goes into ethernet port 1, you will want to connect your Time Capsule into the second, yellow ethernet port. However, that port is not set to work automatically for anything to connect to, it's set up for digital tv. You need to go into your Orange admin page for the router, found by going to 192.168.1.1 on your browser and logging in (remember 'admin' is the magic and default password to get you in. If you have to do a manual reset because you changed and forgot your password, the magic word gets you back in). Once logged in, select 'services' in the menu on the left, then 'digital tv' and then select the 'disable' button. I know, you'd never have found it and never have guessed that's what you need to do to open up the second ethernet, but you now have two ethernet ports into the router and your TC goes into the second work.
Also wanted to say that my TC has actually been flawless in its performance. Not always easy for simpletons like me to set up, but the hardware has always worked. Printer updates and, I think, Apple OS updates remain a problem as they can throw the printer off, but I must remember to keep my nerve - TC is basically right on, it's just the various different ways to get at it - Network Diagnostics, Airport Utility that confuse me.

  • Setting up CSS on the network for Virtual IP for Action Links

    Hi,
I want to configure the Action Links on 10g, i had done all the steps and my Row_id is also linked, but it does not do anything. I am not able to under the settting up CSS on the network as mentioned by Oracle
To create a virtual IP address for Siebel Web Engine and Oracle BI Presentation Services
*1.On the network, set up CSS to direct requests from <virtual domain> to <physical Siebel Web Server Extension machine>:*
*◦Where the acronym CSS represents the load-balancer or router used to do the virtual IP configuration.*
*◦Where <virtual domain> is the virtual IP prefix that users enter to navigate to the Siebel applications (in the preceding example, this is http://siebel.company.com).*
*2.On the network, set up CSS to direct requests from <virtual domain>:84 to <physical Oracle BI Presentation Services machine>:84.*
*3.In the Siebel application, using the Siebel Administration screen, set the NQHost parameters for Oracle Business Intelligence Symbolic URLs to point to the <virtual domain>:84, instead of directly to the Oracle Business Intelligence Presentation Services server physical machine.*
has anybody done this. If yes please let me know the steps, what is *"On the network set up CSS"* means an. Where do i do this. My staging in running Apache Web server.
Also has anybody implemented Action Links on 10g, if yes what is the setps.
Thanks for the help in Advance.

our previous mail program (Turnpike) allowed us to have
further addresses by using mailboxes within the program.
I don't know what Turnpike is, but what you're saying here doesn't make sense.
I had hoped that when either one of us logged on to
get mail, then we would download only those messages
specifically addressed to the e-mail addresses that I
    had entered in Mail Preferances|Accounts.
When Mail (or any other mail POP client) logs into your mail account on the server, it doesn't care at all what your email address is. The only thing that matters is the username and password required to log into the account. Once logged in, all the newly arrived messages there are downloaded.
I have no idea what to put after 'Move Message to
Mailbox:' because the 2 Mailboxes are on the MacBook.
Should I put the MacBook's name? Its IP address? Is
this possible at all in Mail?
You cannot move mail to mailboxes not stored within your home folder in Mail, neither with a rule nor manually. You may be able to overcome this limitation with a different mail client.

  • Connect to two networks at once

    Hi
Im currently using a macmini where I work, it connects to the wirless network in my room with the airport. This network has some restrictions, meaning that some wirless syncing I would like to do with my iphone is not possible. Therefore if I want to sync stuff from my phone (like 'Things' app) I have to create an adhoc network, which is a pain to do.
I would like to have an airport express connected by ethernet to my mac set up with its own wireless network, essentially just an adhoc network to my mac. Then I could have my iphone connect to that to do the syncing, yet still have computer internet access through works wifi. It could be on all the time and I wouldn't have to go through the hassel of setting up a adhoc network everytime I wanted to syn (as many as 1O times a day).
    Is this possible?
    Thanks
    Sam

I knew that, that's why I wanted to mac to be connected to the airport express by network cable. So the mac airport is connected to the company wifi and the macs ethernet is connected to the airport. Would that be possible?

  • Windows 2000 laptop can connect to unsecured Apple network, but not w/WEP

I have a PC laptop running Windows 2000 with a Linksys WPC54GS wireless network adapter. I am running two Apple Expresses as one network. This is a healthy network and most everything I need to do works.
However, I can't connect to this network unless I turn off security entirely. Well, to be exact, I know it doesn't work (yet) with 128-bit WEP, and I haven't tried the 40-bit WEP (and don't especially want to). I tried switching to a 13-character password and getting the hex equivalent of it for use as the password on the laptop, but still no joy. The Linksys application on the PC lets you generate 4 different keys from a text password. I tried that too and tried all 4 different keys, and that doesn't work either.
    Any ideas?

One of the problems with WEP is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.
In order to make things easier for people, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling people to use simple memorable WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys.
The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a Netgear client and vice versa.
One thing is a 13 character 128 bit WEP password will be hashed by all vendors in the same way (if you use 40bit WEP then a 5 character password is required).
Though sometimes not even that works and the HEX key must be used regardless.

Only Windows XP has native support for wireless networking.
Other versions of Windows do not have native support for wireless networking.
What this means is that, unlike Windows XP, you can not plug in a wireless adapter and expect Windows to recognise it and start working.
You will need to install some kind of software configuration utility that came with the adapter. Each manufacturer has their own software so as a result the process of using these utilities to connect a Windows (non-XP) computer to an Airport wireless network will be different and so no generic guide is available.
Having said that you may find the following information on things to watch for useful.

  • I have a PC and a need help to configure my external hard disk on my network. Thanks

I have a PC and a need help to configure my external hard disk on my network. Thanks

If you mean you wish to plug a USB drive into the Airport Extreme router (or TC not express) that is easy..
The disk must be formatted FAT32.. as if.. stay away from FAT .. or HFS+ ie Mac OS extended Journaled.
Format the disk on a Mac is best.. and even use GUID partition scheme not MBR.
The PC has no issue writing and reading files because this is a network drive.. The PC does not write to the drive.. it writes files to the Airport OS which writes and reads the disk and passes the info using standard windows SMB.. To the windows computer it will be a Windows NT server.. FAT32 setup.
If your setup is different.. to my hugely guessed assumptions.. give details.. always helps to have.. make and model.
Make and model of disk.. make and model of router.. how the setup will be done.. what windows OS you run.. etc etc.
As it stands your question could have nothing to do with apple at all.. other than you posted in a forum so I guess there is something apple in there somewhere.

  • Getting List of RMI Hosts in network

    Hi All,
We have an application here that uses RMI to start and stop EXEs over the network. So, I have these EXEs lying in different machines in the network. In all these machines, we have RMI servers running. Now, I need to have the list of all the machines in which RMI Servers are running (can we call these RMI Hosts?). So, that I will present the list in a Combo/drop down box and let the user select the machine.
We have already tested the RMI server and it is working. We are able to start and stop these Exes without any problem. But, we are asking the user to key in the machine name before starting the EXEs. This is what I wish to avoid.
Is this possible? Can I somehow get the list of all the hosts in the network on which RMI Server is running and then populate it into a combo bos using JSP/Struts? The application is platform independant, so, I cannot use any windows specific functions/apis.
    Cheers,
    Uday

Your first problem is to define exactly what you mean by 'all the machines in the network'. This probably means all the IP hosts in your subnet, and if you knew your subnet mask you could generate all the possible IP addresses. You could then try to open port 1099 on each of those addresses and the ones where you succeed have an RMI Registry running. However you can't get the subnet mask in Java, so this is out unless you can hardwire it into your code or supply it externally.
