Network Location: Automatic vs. 'named' location usage

Here is some odd behavior I am seeing. At home, I have an Ubuntu server with a number of SMB shares. My Leopard install does not automatically put these shares in the sidebar UNLESS I have my network location set to automatic. Even if I create a network location called home and tell it to use DHCP and am given the exact same config as automatic from my DHCP server, I cannot see the SMB shares on my Ubuntu server. This seems very odd. The Automatic network location must be doing something additional that is not visible/accessible. Can anyone confirm? What else might be happening when automatic is selected vs. creating a named network location? If I create a network location and manually set my IP information, etc. for my local network I get the same behavior where I cannot see the SMB shares.
Any ideas?

Choose Edit Locations from the Location popup menu, click on the button with the + icon, give the new location the name Automatic, and set it up.

Different storage location automatically pick for same material code

Hi,
As per my requirement,
We have two storage locations i.e Return Location and Finished Location and single plant and single shipping point.
At the time of Normal delivery system should be automatic picked Finished Location and return delivery system have to pick Return Location only.
I tried to do Storage location determination but system is not picking correct location. Kindly guide me.

I am working with Georgia DOT and we have created an app to track our state vehicles using IPhone 5. My question is: will an iPhone automatically turn off location services? If it goes below a certain battery power level, and if so how do you disable this in settings.

I don't believe that this will happen, however, the entire iPhone will shut down when the iPhone reaches the auto-shutdown power level. There is no way to turn that Off other that connecting the iPhone to power.

How to extend material in storage location automatically???

Dear Gurus,
We have 9 plants in this company.
Every time we create a material we have to extend it in all plants.
Because it takes to long to do this one by one with MM01 we use mm17 and we created there a variant that extends the materials in all plants automatically.
Then we have 3 storage locations for each plant. we use MMSC: enter storage locations collectively, to extend each the material in all the storage locations of the company 9x3 = 27. This takes too long as a procedure.
Is there a way to automate this procedure, via rutines, codes, variants, ABAP etc??? and how should I do that??

In customization spro>>MM>>inventory management>>Plant parameters>>select your plant >>click on create storage location automatically
click that one, if your not extended the material to the particular storage location and doing the goods receipt to the particular storage location system will allow you to do that

after some year work with SQL server 2005,i decide change to SQL server 2008 R2.
When i completed install SQL 2008 R2,i can't connected to SQL server due to this following error

The older version SQL Server 2005 could be installed with SQL Server 2008 R2 side-by-side. It could not be the problem.
The reason that we get this error message is the client stack could not receive SSRP response UDP packet from SQL Browser.
Here are the steps:
1) Make sure your server name is correct, e.g., no typo on the name.
2) Make sure your instance name is correct and there is actually such an instance on your target machine.
3) Make sure the server machine is reachable, e.g, DNS can be resolve correctly, you are able to ping the server (not always true).
4) Make sure SQL Browser service is running on the server.
5) If firewall is enabled on the server, you need to put sqlbrowser.exe and/or UDP port 1434 into exception.

Create storage location automatically for movement type 261

Hi Experts,
Currently we're inprocess of implementing "create storage location automatically" for reservation, and I've done with the configuration for both reservation side (Define Default Values) and movement type side (GI/transfer posting - Create Storage Location Automatically).
For movement type 201, new storage location successfully extended/created using T-Code MB21 (Create Reservation). But we found an error message while conducting the same thing for movement type 261 (which only can be created using T-Code IW31 (Create material reservation form Work Order).
Did we missed any required configuration? Pls kindly advice on what we should do.

Here's the current situation,
We configured the plant/storage view (SPRO), most of materials already extended to desired plant and storage location. Commonly, we can extend or create any materials for certain plant and/or storage location by maitain material master data (using T-Code MM01).
Recently, we develop the additional configuration to activate "automatic create storage location" for reservation, aligning with the movement type for Goods Issue (201,221,261,301,etc).
Let's say we have material number 123456789 and currently assigned to plant YYYY, but not extended to storage location XXXX. By performing T-Code MB21 (create reservation) with movement type 201 inputted, the respective material (123456789) is automatically created for the XXXX storage location.
But the above condition is not effected while performing the same thing using T-Code IW31 (create material reservation via Work Order) with movement type 261 (GI for Order).
Any idea to perform create storage location automatically while creating reservation for movement type 261? is there any possible configuration or procedure to be added?

This is the case for, if you work with negative stocks and a material's first movement may be an outward movement that is Goods issue or Transfer posting.
If the material master record is not extended to the storage location which is giving at the time of goods issue / transpfer posting, system won't allow to post the document. First you have to maintain material master record for that SL, then only system will allow postings.
In such cases if the material master record is not created for the storagelocation, SAP having facility like that system can update / create SL data for that materila master record automatically by the system during GI / TP postings.
For that you have to activate SL Create automatically checkbox aganist Plant as well as Movement type. You have activate in both the settings, then only system will update/create SL data in the MMR.
If the Negative postings allowed means eventhough stock is not there, system will allow to issue stock and inventory will show with negative sign.
For ex: Stock is zero. You have issue 25 with the movement type 201, system will allow to issue the stock. But inventory will show -25 for that material (Check in MMBE).
This is case for, if you work with negative stocks and a material's first movement may be an outward movement that is Goods issue or Transfer posting. Then only these setting will helpful.

Intermitten error - SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified

Problem: I have a 2 WFE & 1 App server in my SharePoint 2013 Enterprise Edition SharePoint farm. My WFE 2 and App servers connect all the time to the SQL Server using a SQL alias. My WFE1 server work 80% of the
time. It is setup exactly like WFE2 except periodically 1 web app/site collection will stop working and throw the following error:
"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a
connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify
that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow
remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error
Locating Server/Instance Specified)"
When I log into WFE1 I can connect to SQL using the alias using a udl file and telnet to verify the SQL alias is connected.
Hypothesis/guess: It appears like WFE1 periodically looses networking but only for 1 specific site collection.
Any ideas are most welcome?

I can rule out SQL Server (AOAG) Always-on as the farm doesn't use it.
"max worker threads" is set to 512 with 4CPU's. Rule out.
From the log and looking at the breakdown of the SharePoint request, the request is hitting the WFE2 server which in turn is trying to connect to the content database. The connection string/instance is not available. In summary, I believe the
issue is WFE2 periodically cannot connect to the SQL instance. At the same time WFE1 is working so we know it isn't the SQL server. WFE1 & WFE 2 are on the same VLAN and both appear connected and can see the SQL database using a udl file.
WFE2 has other web applications that are working while the erring web site fails. An IIS reset fixes the issue and restarting the "App pool" for the offending IIS website also fixes the problem. This tells me the issue
is the IIS process. When it tries to connect to SQL /the content database it fails.
I already raised the ticket with MS , the engineer has been looking at it with me, we have tried to identify the issue and also looked at TCP Chimney offload being a possible issue. As my servers is Windows Server 2012, all the servers have the default
"TCP Chimney Offload" setting set to "disabled". WFE1, WFE2, APP1 and SQL have the same setting so this is not the issue. At least this has been ruled out.

Would you please elaborate your Lync server environment?
Did the FE server and BE server on different subnets? If so, please try to relocate the SQL server in the same subnet as FE server and then check again.
Please also double check if the step of “Prepare first Standard Edition Server” ran succeed, if not please run again.

Xperia Weather widget GPS location automatic update issue

Folks,
Having an issue with Xperia Weather widget location automatic update. It just stays whatever I set manually before even selecting "use my current GPS location".It finds location OK, but should it follow then automatically or it works only in "manual mode" ?
GPS settings are activated OK.
On other weather app this feature works fine.
Anybody experiencing the same problem?

That "use my current GPS feature" is just to set the location. It doesn't works as automatic mode to update your location on it's own.
You will have to do it manually again if you wish to change the location.

Where data come from in storage location automatically?

in the moment when you perform the first movement to this storage location, then SAP will extend the material master. Most fields in the material master storage location view are not storage location specifc, the are kept at client or plant level. Only a few fields are storage location specific. you either have to complete those fields later manually or you must not activate auto storage location creation .

When a port is disabled, an event 'xxx port is shutting down' is written to the event log, Then you can utilize SCOM to watch for the event, then write a script to restart it.
