Network Lock keeps resetting

HI. I am a newbie here and would like to ask why the Network Lock keeps resetting to the Enabled position. I have friends that I am allowing them to share my connection whilst they are visiting.

I also have the same problem with the Network lock becoming enabled. Driving me nuts. I guess thats why its called network magic!

Itunes with networked library keeps resetting to the c:\ drive

I have a network server connected to my PC via a wireless network and have mapped my shared music folder on this server to my j:\ drive. I selected this drive in itunes. It finds it fine and can access the files etc ok. However, itunes seems to reset itself each time I reboot to the logged on user's "my music" folder on the c:\ drive. I check that the network is oconnected and correctly mapped before I open I tunes, but this keeps happening
Is there a setting I need to change in the programme or the registry that makes Itunes default to the user's "my music" folder on the c:\ drive?
Or is there some other itunes programme that looks for the networked drive in the start-up process, perhaps before it has reconnected, that I need to delete/delay?

Network settings keep resetting MTU to 1500

I have recently upgraded to ML on a 2010 MBP
I had the usual N-wifi connection problem* - even after 2 full-up installs, but finally solved it by setting the MTU to 1453 on both my router (Linksys) and in the network settings in MacOS
But now, for some reason the setting is back to automatic, and no changing it seems to stick. when I check back in the settings, after hitting apply, the MTU is back to its default setting.
What is going on here? why won't my settings keep?
*The connection would drop out on N-wifi networks - the wifi would not be connected to the known network

Again, this is something outside the bounds of Windows Server. Windows Server does not do that. I looked at default installations of both physical and virtual servers and there is nothing there to cause a sleep or power off.
In fact, the only real power setting I see in the Balanced power plan is to turn off the display after x amount of time.
Do you have power savings enabled on your NIC card? Is there some setting in VMware?

Network Configuration keeps resetting prefs (Three ZTE MF627 Dongle inside)

So I had the problem discussed in this topic (http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10239922); I followed Lee Collier's instructions in the 6th reply, and it worked like a charm.
The problem is, when I unplug the dongle or when the connection falls for any reason, Network Configuration resets my preferences and I have to set it up all over again. Any idea why that happens?

Anybody out there with the same problem?

If Join was on then your home wi-fi must be set to Non-Broadcast. If you did not set this up (maybe your provider did) then you will need to find the Network Name they used, and any password they used. The SSID is Security Set ID and to see more try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSID . Basically it is the name used to identify your router/network. A lot of times the installer will leave it set as LinkSys, or Broadcom or whatever the manufacturer set it as for default. Your best bet is to get whoever installed it to walk you through how they set it up, giving you id's and passwords so you can get in. HOWEVER, if you are not comfortable with this (if you set security wrong, etc.) you would be well ahead of the game to hire a local computer tech (networking) to get this working for you. You can also contact the vendor of your router and get help (if it is still in warranty), or at least get copies of the manuals as pdf files. Sorry I can't give you more help, I hope this gives you an idea where to go from here to find more.

I use pfsense as my firewall and see the traffic not reseting to zero when I cancel download.
Also, IE doesn't have this problem. When I cancel the download the traffic drops to zero.

And this problem seems to be systemwide. Since I created a new user and under which problem still exists.

You could try changing the settings in System Preferences/Security & Privacy/General/Advanced/Require an Administator password to access locked preferences
But this will affect all Preference settings.

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

ITunes Library Keep Resetting to Macinstosh HD from Network NAS location

Every time I open iTunes, the library location path in the Advanced tab shows that the iTunes Library has changed located back to the Macintosh HD:/Users/username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/
The library has been relocated to a QNAP network NAS mapped to NASTS209Pro/iTunes which is a public folder. The information below is taken from the System profiler

Automounted: No
How do I force iTunes to use the NAS directory and stop it from reverting back to the Localhard drive directory path?

I found this thread through a support search. I just moved to all Mac Books for my family and set them up to a wireless network, and keep data (music, photos) on a shared NAS drive. We finally got around to moving our folder from our old external drive to the NAS. That went fine.
We are now finding the same issue. The music file location keeps reverting back to the local HD. My kids have Mac Books with Tiger, we have Pro's. The kid's computers reverted without even closing out or restarting. Mine held the directory until I restarted the computer. It's a drag because each time I fix it, the files have to re-organize, and it takes forever. The kids can't copy music to their ipods because it keeps saying "the original files can't be found"
Is there a way to correct this, (I see this topic was never answered) or do we have to abandon this way of doing things? They guy who set up our wireless and the NAS said it would be great. (I am also wondering how we can all have Apple accounts to buy music, have it stored in the NAS, and all be able to use it, without knowing what got added when and by whom.) We have all authorized each other's laptops.
Do we need to upgrade the new OS? I tried another thread's suggestion of adding the NAS to the login items. I can't seem to do that on the Pro.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I might have to resort to a trip to the Genius Bar. :/

Settings/General/Reset - Reset network settings will "forget" all WiFi networks so you can select them again.
If the problem with your company network is not solved by doing this, are there multiple sites that have the same network name for the company network? Or is it the default network name for the router type (e.g., DLINK, LINKSYS, etc)? If so, this is what is causing the problem and there is no solution other than convincing IT that it is a bad idea to have duplicate network names.

Network Preferences Keep Unlocking

This problem may or may not be part of a bigger issue already discussed, but can anyone explain to me why my network preferences keep unlocking? I will select my network (enter my password too), and then apply and lock my preferences. Then, for no reason and without any warning, I get bumped off my own network and put onto someone else's network in the neighbourhood (really don't want that), even though my preferences were locked. What's the point of having a locking feature if the system keeps unlocking itself??? Any explanation would be greatly appreciated!

Airport -> Advanced (button)
Airport (tab) -> Preferred Networks -> [+]
Now add your preferred network to the list.
If there are networks in the list that you do not want, select those networks and use the [-] to remove them.

TS3092 My Apple bluetooth wireless keyboard caps lock keeps changing so that sometimes the caps are on when the lights on and sometimes the caps are on when the light is off. How do I control this?

My caps lock keeps changing. That is, sometimes the caps are locked and the light is on the key and sometimes the caps are on when the light is off. It changes without my knowing it. Also when I hold the shift key down I hear a double click noise which changes the keys in some way. How do I get it to not change?

Try booting the Recovery Partition. Power off, boot and then hold down the Command and R keys. Is the screen still black? If so it is not a software problem so take it in for diagnosis and repairs. Make a Genius Bar reservation http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ or find an Apple Authorized Service Provider https://locate.apple.com/country .
If you are running Mavericks try upgrading to 10.9.2. It has a fix for black screen problems.
