Network Magic 4.9x installation on Windows 7

I have purchased a copy of Network Magic 4.X and recently purchased a new desktop running Windows 7. I downloaded the latest NM 4.9.8225 version and it will not install on Windows 7.  My previous computer running Windows XP SP3 had no difficultly with NM 4.9X.
I have tried to install NM4.9 on Windows 7 desktop using Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode but no success.
Is NM4.9 compatible with Windows 7?
Do I need to upgrade to NM 5.X?
The desktop has an ADSL router D-Link 502T and Linksys Wireless G  router supporting 2 other Notebooks on the NM network running both Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista without a problem.
Thanks for any advice.

Hi karaka29211,
No, I have installed Network Magic 4.9.8225.0 on two different computers, Laptop and Desktop with Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit  version with D-Link Routers and have not had any problems installing the program at all.
I have not used Compatibility Mode at all. I just the program normally.

  • PureNetworks Network Magic Significantly Slows Startup in Windows XP

I set up a new hard drive on my laptop. All was running well except during Windows XP startup it seemingly took forever for the wireless services to start up (took approximately 5 minutes after user login for the wireless to work (wired also). I am using WIndows to manage my wireless. I had to turn the PureNetworks Service to Manual from Automatic. My computer startup for wireless access is not almost instantaneous (within 5 seconds of User Login).
Now when I try to use Network Magic (try to open the application, it tells me the service is not running and I have to start it up.
What can be done about having PureNetworks not take so long to have the computer start up if it is set to Automatic?

    Hi peye,
I don't believe the problem is necessary the platform service, but a combination of your Anti-Virus and the Platform Service.
    Try this:
Change Platform to Automatic again. Disable or temporary uninstall your Anti-Virus and see what happens.
    Report back.

  • Installation of Network Magic on Existing Networks.

Can Network Magic be installed on existing small networks set up using the Windows software?  If so does it just incorporate all of the existing network information into the Network Magic software configuration?  If it cannot be installed on existing networks as a management upgrade, what must be done to make it installable, does the existing network need to be eliminated?

  • Network Magic on Windows 7

    Hi all,
Already saw a lot of issues passing by concerning Network Magic. Have one myself as well that I did not find
    as covered yet.
Am running NM 5.5.5195 Pro and really had no issues before...untill I upgraded 1 set in my network
to Windows 7. On this particular machine it seem to work well but trying to enter one of the shared maps on another set in the network
(OS = XP) it won't give me access although the map(s) are configured as shared and showing as such.
Accessing shared maps from the XP-set on the W7 set: no problem. Checked firewall settings but can not
really find any issues: NM has full access. Am beginning to think it is a compatibility issue really with W7.
Am I overlooking something or can this be confirmed as a compatibility issue indeed?
    Anyone to the rescue?
Thanks for your time and efforts again!
    best regards,

Okido, good to learn I seem to be quite following you then.
    As a recap:
I could already see the shared maps that are set as such on the XP-set when I open up the shared maps overview in NM on the W7-set.
Again, trying to access them (so from the W7-set) gives me this NM-prompt that the shared map can not be accessed (although it IS showing as shared)
When I try the same thing vica-versa so from the XP-set accessing the shared maps on the W7-set I am in in a blink of an eye.
I have now made the changes as you indicated but I don't believe it works..I am still denied from behind the W7 set, there's no way getting in the shared maps on the XP-set.
Let me give it a try after a reboot, perhaps that does the trick..am in a copying session now, about 13mins still to go..will give it a swing straight after and let you know!
    Thanks for now, appreciated!!

    //// EDIT
..as promised my findings after a system reboot...negative! Nothing seem to have changed. Have copied the firewall settings now 1:1 on the XP-set but this didn't do the trick either! Don't tell me I am on a dead end now he??
Hope you still have some magic for me to give a try?

    Hi Michael,
Turn on all options, except Passwords unless you need to use Passwords in Network and Sharing Center.
I copied a file from my Windows 7 Computer to my XP Wireless Computer and it worked.
I copied a file from my Windows XP Wireless Computer to my Windows 7 Ult. 64-Bit RC Version and that worked.
I don't understand the term of Maps you are using.
Note: Shared Folders that you shared on an External Hard Drive, can't be shared or accessed. Reason: Those External Hard Drives can be simply unplugged and plugged into a different Computer.

  • Can't activate my Network Magic software after reinstalling

After a clean installation of Windows 8 Pro I've installed my Network Magic software. After the setup I've tried to activate my legal version but it won't accept a connection to register and to activate. I've found out that Cisco no longer supports Net Magic so activation is no longer possible in The Netherlands. Cisco says that there is no other replacement network tool from Cisco for my WRT 320N and other Cisco devices. Is there any possibility to activate my software of Network Magic on a other way (in the USA or in the register of Windows or Network Magic)? Thx Martin

One possible reason why the software can't be installed is because of the firewall on your computer or an antivirus software. Try to turn the firewall off or disable your antivirus software temporarily and activate Network Magic again.

    Hi PSYCHSON,
Rerun the Installation program for Network Magic. It should give you options for Repair or Remove.
If it does not, then simply reinstall overtop the existing installation. Reboot and go back to Add or Remove Programs and remove it.

  • Network Magic - Licensing Scheme Question

I have a question regarding the licensing scheme.
I believe that I am allowed a maximum of 5 installs of NM on my network.
My wife's computer recently gave up the ghost. Given that I have had to replace her PC with a new one (the old one is toast - it will not boot) can I somehow transfer the license to her new PC ? or is the license installed on the failed PC lost forever meaning I only have 4 licenses left ?
    Thanks.

  • How Disable Network Magic Splash Screen?

Can someone please walk me through the steps to disable the Network Magic startup splash screen? I purchased the software a few years back and saw a message how to do it. I did it, and it worked a treat...until a recent glitch on my computer forced a major restore, which brought the splash screen back. Now I (of course) forget how I disabled it in the registry. I know this question is small potatoes compared to the major probs others here are having, but I'm hoping someone'll still give me a bit of help.

    Hi Chris,
I am responding from Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 w/ Internet Explorer 7 installed on FAT32 File System.
I just uninstalled and reinstalled Network Magic Version 4.9.8225.0-Pure0
Unfortunately, while this installation is still unactivated, having just reinstalled it, I have not experienced the Network Magic Splash Screen.
My copy is set up for Network Reports as well as starting up at bootup. It has FullAccess going through my McAfee Personal Firewall.
I have seen the Splash Screen you are referring to. It was seen when the Network Magic License Servers were down or Network Magic  was not set up, right after it was installed. You need to set up Network Magic right after you install it, before you reboot. You don't need to activate it right away.
Uninstall Network Magic. Reboot. Reinstall Network Magic while it is connected to the Router and configured it, then reboot.

  • How to have same version of Network Magic on all pc`s on home network

I had to uninstall Network Magice from my laptop, and on re-installation I ended up with version 4.1 I am running version 5.0 on my desktop. Before uninstalling I had the same version on both. My question is, how can I get back to version 5.0 on my laptop, all I get from NM is a prompt to buy an update or a new version, I have entered my license key onto my laptop but I cannot upgrade, any help would be greatly appreciated.........

I have replaced, for security reasons, my old Belkin with the Cisco E3000.  The installation disk runs and then says will not configure router.  I tried Cisco Router chat but they say it is a Network Magic problem, because the software in the install disk conflicts with Network Magic.  I have checked my firewall (Sunbelt's Vipre) and did not see any problem.  I am running XP SP3.  I also uninstalled all the Belkin entries I can find, rebooted, and still it would not install.  Somewhere, in Network Magic, has to be the process in which I need.

I was able, with the router setting up, connect to the internet simply by plugging in the router to the modem and then PC.  Plugging in the router to the cable modem was part of the setup procedure.  Connecting to the PC was something I did via Network Magic.  This did not set up the router.

I get the following message when installing 11.0.5 "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" for windows install

I just found a way to get Fixit to Run.  Go to http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/ and then pick "Install or upgrade software or hardware" and run Fixit from the "Run" button on the webpage.  I just picked run, instead of save, and ran it directly from the web page for each of the apple software.  If the window doesn't come up full size, hit "Tab" twice and then "Return".  You'll be able to see the prompts from there.  Have it attempt to uninstall iTunes on its own.  Repeat the process for any of the other Apple products, including Bonjour and iCloud.  Then, go to the iTunes website and install from there.  I had a downloaded copy and installed from there, but it came up with an error about missing the apple help, or something like that.  It allowed me to uninstall, and I reinstalled direclty from the website, and it all works now.

I have a variety of devices on my home network, such as 1 MAC, 5 Win 7 PCs, 4 Android mobile phones, 1 TV PVR, 1 BluRay Player, 1 TV, 2 Network Printers, 1 iPod Touch. All of them is appearing as the should except one of the mobile phones. It is being recognized as a Win 7 PC and I can not change the type to anything but a PC/Mac. I have tried changing the IP address and also completely resetting the network but to no avail. Network Magic also gives my Android phone (HTC Desire) the name of one of the connected Win 7 PC's. The IP address and MAC address recognized by Network Magic is the ones associated with the phone, not the PC. The PC is a laptop with both wired and wireless connection, but it doesn't help if I disable on or the other or both. I have also completely reinstalled Network Magic on the PC but the problem persists.
In addition to being annoying, the problem also prevents me from administrating a NetGear access point as it only accepts to be managed by the computer Network Magic is associating with my Androd phone. To work around that issue I hope I can do a factory reset on the access point and reconfigure it, but I'm not looking forward to it. I have bought Network magic Pro as my network management sw and would like to use it for that purpose.

Dang! It's been a year since this was posted and nobody is able to HELP...
Anyway, I have the same problem here too... My Verizon Motorola Droid A855 is identifies as computer and Microsoft Windows 7 (workstation). I can't get the other options to categorize it as a cellphone. The thing is my Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-Ray DVD Player appears on the network map and I was able to put it under "Media Adapter," another pc appears  as it should, a Hawking Wireless-G Range Extender as "Wireless Access Point," and a BoostMobile Motorola i1 Android cellphone appears as a "cellphone." So, how come my Motorola DROID A855 is detailed as under my pc name and operating system Windows & Professional? This is weird.

  • How to remove the "Index Page" option from the Router in Network Magic Pro 5.5.9195

I find it ironic and I can click on my router in the Map view of network magic, and the last option is "Index Page".  This immediately loads my router setup in a browser window. It completely bypasses the router login and password.  I do not want anyone to be able to start my PC, open Network Magic, and click this option and have access to my router.  This is stupid.  How do you turn this option off, remove it, or hide it?

Anything you do without submitting to form has to be done on the client side (ususally by JavaScript) using data which has been send already from the server.
With JavaScript you can do quite a bit. You can download tables which don't necessarilly appear on the screen, loading them into JavaScript arrays by dynamically generating javascript. Then you can pick up events like drop-box selection and use these tables to chose what you do next (e.g. preloading other fields, setting drop box content etc.).
Or, you can cause forms to be submitted when actions like a selection happen without the user clicking a button. It's generally a matter of how much data you'd need to transmit.
Another posibility is to use a Java applet, which can generate requests to the server and handle the results as it chooses. That are a number of problems with that but occasionally it's the best solution.
What you can't do is to handle user input inside a JSP. The JSP has come and gone before the user even gets to see your form.
