Network Magic link of network printer to iPad

there are two iPads on my network.  I have a shared HP8500A printer that the laptops print to, and the network printer shows up on the ipads, but will not print or cannot seem to find the printer as it shows it is looking for the printer, but nothing ever happens.  If I chose a photo on the ipad, the printer comes up and prints when you click print.  However, I cannot print any other docments or web content off the ipad.  any ideas?

you mentioned that you tried to edit the NETWORKLIB.XML file how did you do it? How many computers are using network magic? I have encountered this before wherein the network map will not sure the devices correctly.
Try the link below but once you are done doing the steps you need to turn off the computer and move on to the next until you finish doing the necessary steps. Once done with all the computers reboot the router and then turn on your computers one by one to see if that will help resolve the issue.

  • Enterprise network printing from ipad

Like many enterprises, we are seeing an increase in mobile device use. We have a moderate-sized enterprise AD-based network (~10K users) utilizing AD print queues and IP printing. We would like for mobile users, inlcuding iPad users to be able to print directly from within applications utilizing either the print queues or IP. We do NOT have wireless printers, our printers are HP departmental and workgroup printers with Cat-5/6 connections. We prefer to not use ePrint (or similar solutions) due to legal requirements; I've done some quick digging through the app store and have not seen anything that appears to provide the necessary capabilities.
Are there any enterprise-class solutions available or am I just spinning my wheels going through the app store?

The C5180 is not AirPrint capable. It sounds as if you were sharing this printer through some software installed on your PC. This type of sharing is not supported by iOS and so you'll likely want to contact the creator of the sharing software you are using.

  • If I use my Airport Express to establish a network printer can I print from my IPad and iPhone?

I want to be able to print to a network printer with my IPad and IPhone with IOS 5.0.1.  Seems like there is a limited number of printers that can "AirPlay" from these devices.  I have an Airport Express and I know how to connect a printer and set it up as a network printer, my question is can I wirelessly print from my Ipad and iPhone then.  Seems too easy for what appears to be a limited set of new printers that have that have Thai function built in.

Printopia allows me to print from an iPad2 to any printer that is connected to the USB port of my AriPort Extreme.

  • I have just converted from PC to iMac. Yay. But pls be nice to me; I am back to newb! Running Lion. Have connected a Time Capsule as both a backup and WAP. I want to be able to join the network with my iPad, iPhone, iPod to print. How can I do this?

Can I do this using the Time Capsule. I am not tech, so bear with me. Can I get the iPad to connect wirelessly to the TC, which connects wirelessly to the Canon MP495? Or, can I connect/network the iPad to the iMac to print?
Either way, or if there is any other solution, I would appreciate if someone would walk me through it, or point me to a plain-speaking resource.
    Thankyou.
Actually, one more: I would like to connect my HP laptop as well. I have heard this is not simple, but possible.

You can create a wifi network with your TC, and you can join this network with your iPad. However, your printer does not support the AirPrint protocol, so you will not be able to print from your iPad, unless you load additional software.
    These are the steps:
    1.  (You may have completed this step already) Set up your TC to create a wireless network. You can do this from AirPort Utility on your Mac or from the AirPort Utility App on your iPad (free download from the App Store).
    2. From your iPad, go to settings / wifi and join the network.
    3. Download the Canon iPhone App from the App store on your iPad
    4. You can now print photos from your iPad to your Canon printer.
If you want full functionality, (not just photos), there is software for your Mac that makes your printer available to your iPad through AirPrint (Printopia). The downside is, you have to purchase it, and you have to have your Mac running when you want to print from your iPad.
    Good luck!

  • How can I print wirelessly from my ipad mini to a non-AirPrint network printer?

Does anyone know of a work around to print wirelessly from ipad mini or any apple wireless devices to a network printer that is NOT Airprint ready?  I have a trial of Printopia installed on my desktop connected to the network and it seems to work BUT the desktop has to be awake or on for this to work.  My wireless router is a new ASUS N66U with supported usb port for printers which my printer is connected to.  My PC laptop is able to see the printer but the ipad mini and iphone 5 cannot.  I could return the router and exchange for Apple Airport wireless router if I know it would make a difference.  Thanks.

    Hi,
According to the printer specs, your printer has no wireless connectivity and is not airrprint enabled so unfortunately you won't be able to print from your ipad.
you'll find the list of HP web enabled printers here.

  • Network printing with an HP LaserJet 4 on a D-Link DP-301P+ Server

I have been trying in vain to connect my MacBook to my HP LaserJet4 printer using a D-link DP-301P+ print server. I have OSX 10.4.6 and have tried both the default browser and IP address options. The system finds the D-Link server, but when I load the Gimp driver for the printer, the print test page is grayed out and when I try to print a page, the page is sent to the que but the job immediately stops without generating output. There is no error message, just the stop octogon over the printer and the print job. I have been able to use the printer over the network with a PC. Any advice?

LPD requires the device queue name/port name - try P1, or the port name which I think is listed on the label of the print server (looks something like PS-12345-P1). I see no evidence that IPP (=Internet Printing Protocol, not IP printing) is supported by this print server.
The default IP address for the print server is 192.168.0.10. Have you set it to be in the same subnet as your router and computer(s)? same subnet means only the last part of the IP is different - 192.168.1.xxx.

  • HT3819 Is it possible to share a printer (attached to a Windows-7 PC) on my home network, with an iPad, iPhone or a Mac?

Is it possible to share a printer (attached to a Windows-7 PC) on my home network, with an iPad, iPhone or a Mac?

Possibly. You'd need to see if your printer has any programs you can put on that attached computer to allow it to be a print server.
I'd start with your printer manufacturer first. See if they offer anything. for your model. If not, then you can look for any printer apps or programs.

  • How do I print from an iPad to a windows network printer?

How do I print from an iPad 2 to a windows network printer (without AirPrint)?

Thx for the suggestion, but it defeats the purpose by having to have my desktop computer running. I am looking for an app or hardware device that will allow me to print directly from my Ipad to my printers without having to turn on a computer to do it.
I have tried the Lantronix xprint server and while it works with my older Brother Laser it does not work with my newer Kodak ESP Office 6150 (and it doesn't look like they are even interested in attempting to write support for it into their printer list)
I have tried every app in the app store and none of them do the job WITHOUT having to have a computer running on the network.
    Let me re-state the problem...
I want to print from either my Iphone 4  or my original version Ipad to my network attached printers without having to have a computer running on the network to do it. I have a Brother HL-5150D laser printer hooked to my apple airport extreme's usb port and a Kodak ESP Office 6150 connected to the network via WiFi. How can I do this.

How can I print directly from my IPad to my network printer?

Take a look at the application Printopia. It's an application for your Mac, if in fact you have a Mac. Works great here. Cost is about $10 (US.)
I'm not sure how it will work with a network printer. Probably depends on your setup.

  • Printing from iPad - Why do I need third party app to print to a local network printer??

Why do I need to pay for a third party app to print to ALL local network printer?? I understand that only some printers are compatable with iPads, but yet application like "iCanPrint" allow me to print just fine to a printer connected to my network. Why can't Apple include this as one of its features? Technology is apparently there?

For that, and the many other apps to work, you need to be running a pc or Mac on the network.  The answer is drivers.  Every printer in the world needs a driver.  There simply is not enough space on a pad to load every possible printer driver that might be in play.  in the pc world, the operating system comes preloaded with hundreds of common drivers, and when you buy and install a new printer, you download the new drivers for that new printer.
That all just will not work on a pad or phone.  So apple flipped the issue upside down, and said...'here is the printer driver we will make standard for its devices.  We call it AirPrint.  Include this in your printer'.    A lot of manufacturers have, and more printers are enabled each month.
So your choice is pretty basic.  You can buy an AirPrint enabled printer and print directly to it, or buy a non AirPrint printer, or use the one you have, and rely on your pc to act as the translation device to manage the print job.

  • Can't print to network printer

I can’t print to my network printer.  Network Magic shows that the printer is ‘online’, however, when I try to print from Windows, the ‘Print’ dialog box shows the status as ‘Error - Offline’.  The printer’s display window shows the printer as ‘Ready’.
Occasionally, Network Magic displays the error; The Platform Service is Not Running.  Restarting the Platform Service does not resolve the printer showing as ‘Error - Offline’ in the Windows Print dialog box.
This problem has been ongoing for about a week.

    Hi aquaman53,
The problem is that the Router has changed the IP Address of the Lexmark Network Printer. You need to use Static IP Addresses so the IP Address does not change.
I don't know if the DI-524 Router allows one to assign Devices / Computers to Static IP Addresses. I know that you can with the DIR-655 Router.

  • HP Deskjet 3050a cannot find network printer

I need to find out what my IP address is for my printer.  I may have changed it accidently when I was trying to set up my printer to a new router.  I have reset the default settings.  I have tried to go to HP file where it says I can change my IP address and I get the error "cannot find network printer".  I have done all of the obvious deinstall, reinstall, added MAC address to router. Nothing will recognize my printer.  Please help.  Thank you

    Hello again,
OK, thanks for the updated information.  Try these steps...
    Changing wireless settings
If you decide to change the wireless network settings for your wireless home network, you will need to configure your wireless printer with the new settings.
To configure the new wireless settings on a printer that features a Wireless Setup Wizard:
From the printer’s control panel, open the Wireless Settings menu. Many products provide access to the Wireless Settings by pressing the Wireless Button or touching the Wireless icon on the printer’s control panel. Consult the printer’s help documentation if you do not know how to access the Wireless Settings menu.
From the Wireless Settings menu select Wireless Setup Wizard. The Wireless Setup Wizard will guide you through the process of configuring your printer with the new wireless settings. Input your Wireless Network Name and Wireless Password when prompted.
You can print a Wireless Network Test report from the Wireless settings menu to confirm the printer was successfully connected to your network.
To configure your wireless settings on a printer that does not feature a Wireless Setup Wizard:
First, make sure your computer is connected to your network. You will also need a USB cable, which is temporarily used during the configuration. Be sure NOT to connect the USB cable between the computer and printer until instructed to do so by the software.
If your HP printer software is already installed on your computer Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    Use Start -> Programs -> HP -> <your printer model> -> Printer Setup & Software. Windows 8:
Launch the Printer Software from the Start screen (icon for the printer model name) or from the tile named for your printer.
Select (click or touch) Utilities on the top of the Printer Software screen
    Select Printer Setup & Software
