Network only connects in diagnostic mode

I know this has already been covered, the fix did not work for me, so I thought I would start a new topic in case someone found another answer but just let the topic lie buried on page 5.
Im on a new mb pro, dlink router, wpa personal , I cannot get it to connect automatically or when clicking and choosing the network, I have to go through diagnostic mode.

I've tried changing the drive letter but that didn't work.
I've also restored the iPod and also re-installed iTunes.
I've also tried reformatting the iPod several different ways then restoring the software but nothing works.
I'm wondering if there's a problem with the firmware on the iPod or a hardware problem.
If I connect it to another computer (in normal mode) then it get's recognized ok as a hard disk and I think as an iPod. However the computer then says to reboot to fully install the device and after doing that the computer will not start up with the iPod connected.....I have to disconnect the iPod.

  • Airport express n only connecting in g mode

    Hi,
I have 2 airport express n's that I have just connected to a DLink DIR655 router to stream itunes remotely. I got them recognized by hooking them up by ethernet to the router to configure and then placing them remotely. I am running the router in n/g mode since I also use my iphone on the network. When I check the system it shows the 2 airport expresses are running in g mode. I have tried setting the DLink to N only mode temporarily but then it won't recognize the ae's. The only way to get the ae's recognized is in n/g mode (or n/g/b mode). I thought being n's that the ae's should automatically connect as n's, not g's. Can someone help me determine what I can do to get them to connect as n's?
    Thanks much in advance,
    Joe h

Well even though this got no replies I ended up figuring it out. In case anyone is interested, I had to change the encryption to WPA2 AES instead of using WPA. For some reason with WPA the ae's would only connect in g mode. When I switched to WPA2 they immediately connected in n mode.
Don't know if that is how it is supposed to work, but that is how it does work.

    Hi sayla,
When you reloaded your software did you do a clean reload (deleting all data)? http://bbry.lv/bpv7DT
If so, you might try doing a resettofactory using the following instructions. http://bit.ly/fMW9I4 This will reset to factory default.

Hi Rocraccoon and welcome to Apple discussions.
Since you have posted this in the iMovie HD forum, I am assuming you are using that version, which, unfortunately, will NOT work with any type of hard drive or DVD camcorder. Only a miniDV tape cam can be captured by all iMovie versions up to and including that which came with iLife 06.
There are workarounds requiring extra software (some free, some cost), wasted time and less than original quality results because of the process of changing file formats.
iMovie 08 MAY be compatible with your cam, but there is still that quality issue because iMovie 08 also has to convert the video to DV and, iMovie 08 is a complete rewrite of the software which left little of the previous iMovies intact and many who love their iMovie HD's are staying put.

  • WRT610N only operates in B mode

I have all wireless G or N devices on my network.  However, my Alienware Laptop with a wireless N card will only connect in B mode.  My desktop, which also uses a wireless N card only connects at 1mb a second.  Am i doing something wrong?  I set it up in mixed mode because my PS3 and Tivo can only connect with G.  What should my setting look like to connect at a better rate?

You need to do some changes in the router ...
    Radio Band -- 20 Mhz
    Wide Channel -- 6
    Standard Channel - 11

  • Xbox 360 Wireless N Adapter Only Connects to 802.11G on WRT310N

I recently purchased the Xbox 360 Wireless N Adapter. I plugged it into my Xbox (which is current on updates, including the adapter drivers), and am able to successfully connect to my WRT310Nv1 using the "Mixed" mode, but only at 802.11G, not 802.11N. If I force my router into "Wireless-N Only" mode, the Xbox is able to see the signal, but will not connect. The WRT310Nv1 has the most recent firmware (v1.0.09) installed, and I am using WPA2 Personal, AES encryption.
I've scoured the internet and haven't been able to find a solution yet. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I have an Xbox 360 Slim with the built-in Wireless N and I have the EXACT same problem.  I also tried forcing my router into Wireless-N only mode and the Xbox will not connect.  It will only connect in "mixed" mode but at 802.11G.  This is very frustrating.
If any one can help us out it would be much appreciated!!

My iMac suddenly no longer connects to wifi network when in KIOSK (username) mode, and only connects when as ADMINISTRATOR mode. Its strange because the iMac has been working fine in KIOSK mode for over a year until 2 days ago.

One of the memory cards was indeed faulty, and the other completely fine
Thanks very much for all your help!
Although there is one little thing that I've noticed. The iMac works properly, but I tried to software update to see if that may help my Minecraft sound issue (as I still don't think only having 2GB instead of 4GB would cause such a problem) but the software update application won't work. Running the "Software Update" from the apple menu on the toolbar gains no response, nothing happens. If I run the software update from  system preferences, the application icon appears for a second, then disappears (as in the blank app. icon, the blank canvas with the pencil, pen and ruler in the bottom right corner). It does this every time I try to run it. It did work when the computer was crashing, but this started when on one of the occasions I ran the app. while it was crashing. Since this occured during the crashes, and still occurs now, I'm wondering did something simlar happen minecraft, as it's sound disappeared during the crashes and is still gone now.
However, the computer is now working again without crashes, which is the main thing, thanks for helping me fix the issue
Edit: I would mark the topic as solved, but I'm unsure if this would lock the topic or something simlar, so I'd rather leave it open for any ideas regarding the software update and Minecraft issues I'm having

  • Lion mountain newest update :I loos the internet connection, but the network shows connected. And IPhone, IPad stay connected and work. Only the MacBook Pro , which worked perfectly before with Lion unless I updated to Mountain. I have tried everything.

I have a MacBook Pro, Early 2011, 2 GHz Intel Core i7 which I udated some days ago with Lion Mountain 10.8.2. Before it worked just perfect. Now, since the update,  I loos the internet connection after a wile, (at the beginning every 20 sec, now up to 4 hours) even that the sign of the WiFi network connection shows to be perfectly connected.
My other divices like IPhone, IPad stay connected and work. The rooter is new and cannot be the problem. I tried nearly everything I found on the bloggs, but nothing helped actually. It must be a softwear problem on Lion Mountain, what can I do?
    Thanks for any help

    I FINALLY SOLVED THIS ISSUE!!!!
New routers have "mixed" modes for your network; this means that it will automatically choose the best option between wireless-B, wireless-G and wireless-N network modes. I used to experience this issue using the 2.4 GHz. mixed mode wireless network.
Thankfully, my router can create 2 networks: a 2.4 GHz. network and a 5 GHz. network.
When I randomly changed this value to "use only wireless-B and wireless-G" trying to fix an issue with a wi-fi expander, the iMac wi-fi  issue dissapeared! I tried it with wireless-N only, but it didn't work.
So, finally, I have a 2.4 GHz network with only wireless-B and wireless-G modes which works PERFECT with the iMac, and a 5 GHz. network with a mixed* wireless mode for everything else mode.
*PD: by "mixed" mode it means that the router will automatically choose between B, G and N network modes as it fits better.

  • WUMC710 connects with only 40mhz in AC mode with Linksys E6500

    Hi there,
I have a Linksys WUMC710 media connector and a EA6500 router. The plan was to have a fast AC wireless network...
So much for the plan... reallity looks a bit different...
When the EA6500 wireless mode is set to AC mode only, the WUMC710 only connects with 40mhz. Meaning, that speed is not a single bit better, than wireless n...
When I change the wireless mode to "automatic", then the WUMC710 connects with 80mhz. ??? Strange... Problem is anyway, that the speed with 80 mhz is not a single bit better than in wireless n mode (40mhz).
    - There are NO other wireless networks arround me, so that could not be the problem
    - I have the very latest firmware installed on both devices
    - The WUMC710 and the EA6500 are only 2 meters apart with no walls between.
So wireless n speed is about 15-20 mb/s, wireless ac speed is exactly the same, even when the WUMC710 shows 80mhz connection...
    Any ideas?
    Best regards,
    Christian

  • Can only connect to Internet from one computer at a time on network

I have a 2 computer network in my office networked with an Asante 10/100 hub. The computers are a iMac 24 (Intel) and an old G4 (PCI). The network has worked fine until just recently. Now, I can only connect to the Internet with one computer at a time...(DSL connection). I checked cables, ports, etc, and I'm wondering if this is a 10.4.9 issue. Coincidentally, I noticed that I am not able to access the Internet via Win XP using Parallels which also worked fine up until recently. I checked with the ISP (AT&T) who confirmed that all is OK on their end. Anyone have similar problem? Could OS X 10.4.9 be the culprit? Any help on this will be much appreciated. Thanks.
    iMac 24   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   2G RAM; NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256

I'd consider that a 3 computer network, Parallels being a virtual machine would alias the ethernet interface and need its own IP address. That may or may not have anything to do with your problem. Actually, the way you've described things, it sounds like a lot has to do with your contract with ATT. Is there a routing device at your end?
The only way 10.4.9 could be the culprit would be if it were the routing device.

  • IPad only connects to home Wi-Fi network when iMac is on and connected????

Since I got my iPad on launch date I've had problems with the Wi-Fi connection. It can always find my home network with a strong signal, and with a bit of trial and error i have discovered that it will only connect to my home network when I switch my iMac on.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Andy

I have a similar issue with wifi. My home wifi is a strong signal but my iPad fails to automatically connect to it all the time and insists on staying on 3G. Weirdly if I go into system preferences and look at the wifi it says Not Connected, as soon as I click on it my wifi shows up and I can select it and it connects without issue and shows full strength. Why does it not auto connect ? It did when I first bought the iPad.
At work it always tries to connect to my office wifi as soon as I turn it on.

Every time I introduce the WPA2 passwords I can´t connect. I can only connect to open wi fi networks? Does anyone know why? Thanks

Some users with various Wi-Fi connection problems have reported that they were given the following instructions by Apple Support, sometimes with success. I can't vouch for this procedure myself. After completing the procedure, you'll have to recreate all your settings in the Network preference pane. Make sure you know how to do that before you begin. Taking screenshots of the preference pane may be helpful.
    Step 1
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 2
    Reset the System Management Controller

  • My iphone 4s will only connect to my home network.

My iphone 4s will only connect to my home network. Any other I join (eg:starbucks) internet says connection error. Even though the phone says it's connected.

Since  I have upgraded the the latest iOS in my iPhone 4S , this problem started and eventually the white button for Wi-fi stopped working. The one day before switching off the phone , I took out the SIM and reset the Networking and didn't switch on. Then I wrapped the phone with tissue paper and kept it in the deep refrigerator for 25 to 30 minutes and after cleaning frosty layer, I turned on the phone.... Somehow the Wi-fi button started working and the Wi-fi network too. Then only I inserted the SIM . Magic..!! My phone is still working fine . But I have to do this process once or twice a month every time Wi-fi stops working. Good luck my friend....hope you get benefitted !!

  • X60s upgrades to XP SP3 and only connects to WEP WiFi Networks

    Hi,
I have an X60s that upgraded to Windows XP SP3 and now the X60s can only connect to WEP Wifi Networks.
If I try to connect to an WPA2 or WPA network it keeps trying to optain an IP address and then it stops with
that red X on top of the NIC icon
Is there a new driver of hotfix from Lenovo in this case?
    Many thanks
