Network problem- FTP Not ejecting!!!!!!!

I have a problem. I am connected to an FTP server, but I cannot disconnect from it. I've tried dropping it to the trash can, and trying to eject it from a finder window (the list on the left). Clicking eject, but nothing. I've logged out and back in, and again nothing. What should I try?

And if it happens again... or before it happens again... get Applejack...

After installing, reboot, then hold down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.

DVD super drive problem-does not eject

am facing strange problem with my DVD super drive. It does not eject when idle for some time and when its empty. I have a dual core Mac Pro with snow leapord OS. I have replaced it, updated the OS.. nothing fixes the issue.
it only ejects when I restart the mac pro.
Please help as it does not respond to eject key on keyboard also.

If nothing else works for you, when you hear sound of drive trying to open after pressing keyboard eject button, strike the box of mac pro on both sides of the drawer with clenched fists.

Windows XP SP3 with Outlook 2010 (14.0.4760.1000) computer is on the same network, but not a part of the domain.
When I try to configure Outlook profile for the user, I manually enter exchange server name and user name.
Check User button underlines server name and user name and profile gets created successfully.
Once I try to open outlook for the user I get

If I search the content of the log files under
X:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Logging\RPC Client Access
I can’t find any records indicating a connection attempt from the client’s IP or references to the version of the outlook used, however I can see a 3 way handshake followed by a 4 RCP packets and then 4 nspi bind requests and responses when outlook opens
up and then connection is torn down.

That version of Outlook 2010 (14.0.4760.1000) is not supported with Exchange 2013 and will not be able to connect. It need to be on at least SP1 +
Outlook 2010 November 2012 update (14.0.6126.5000)

Sometimes Local Address not in ARP table and Ping fails (network problem?)

I see something like this on our network a couple of times a week.
The same replies have been received from different hosts.
ping fails
local subnet machine is not in arp table
ping fails
local subnet machine is not in arp table
traceroute may or maynot succeed
If traceroute succeeds an entry is in the arp table
if traceroute fails no entry will be in the arp table.
A netstat -s, ont the local host, doesn't show any thing strange except that udpNoPorts=10844982 (Unfortunately I don't know what udpNoPorts is)
The remote host IS UP.
Does anyone have an idea as to why this is happening?
Can our 100mb network, which is not that busy, be loosing that many ICMP or ARP messages?
This is a problem because I'm the guy getting paged if a system is down.
Local host is Solaris 7 on same subnet at IP 168.173.8.8
Remote hosts are usually NT boxes.

I Think you need to do Teaming on the servers.
++ configure etherchannel between switch and the server.

Problem downloading iPod Software / Network connection could not be made

I am trying to upgrade to version 1.2.1 of the iPod software. I am using version 7.0.2 of iTunes. Whenever I connect my iPod it indicates that there is a newer version of the iPod software. Whenever I try "download and install" or "download only", I get the following error message: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod 'My iPod'. The network connection could not be made.".
I am able to get on the internet in my browser and I am able to get to the iTunes store just fine.
I checked the solution at: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304468, but this article isn't the same error message as the one that I am getting. Note: I did try the solution stated in this article and it didn't help.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

recently changed my PC and successfully exported my itunes library. My problem is that when I now try to buy a song I get a message saying that there was a problem downloading (song) and that the network connection could not be made. Still having trouble, the computer is authorized and appears normal in its function. Sounds like the device may have had a hardware failure. If it is out of warranty, the only option is the Out of Warranty replacement.
AppleCare is only an option if it is still under the original warranty.

Problem with superdrive which ill not eject a cd

Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Serial Number W8003MAJ5PC
Software OS X 10.8.2 (12C60)
The superdrive will not eject a c.d. I have tried the holsing the eject key on start-up trick and several others but to no avail.
I also know that this is a common problem on iMacs and Mac Books so I was wondering if anybody has come up with a solution to the problem.
Incidentally, the drive was used on fewer than 10 occasions when it malfunctioned.

If you haven't tried already:
Restart the computer while holding down the click button on the mouse.
Open Disk Utility and if it shows up there you might be able to force eject.

There is no "update icon" in iOS versions earlier than iOS 5.
The update is very large (over 1.2 gigabytes). You need a good internet connection to download it to your computer. Maybe you'll need to take a trip to a city to get a good enough connection.

What brand/model USB drive? Is it bus or AC powered?
On Mail...
First Quit Mail, then I'd backup these two Mail folders, by right clicking on them in the Finder, then choose Archive/Compress.
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail
Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail Downloads
(Could be a different folder here if you chose such in Mail Prefs)
Right click on that Mail folder, choose archive, you'll get everything in the folder, and the folder itself in a file called Mail.zip, move it to a safe place, same for the Mail Downloads folder... only the plist is separate.
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

Same here on an older iMac since Lion. Thanks for the uncheck wake for network access tip though, it doesn't do it either in that case, I will leave it that way.
