I tried installing Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5640, but there's an errror that this software is not suitable for this macbook pro model, even thogh it is. What should I do?

  • Problem installing Windows 8 via Bootcamp on MacBook Pro 13 (late 2009).

    Hello,
I've installed Windows 8 Pro on my MacBook Pro 13 (Late 2009) which does not support Windows 8. I've started installing Windows 7 via Bootcamp, then interupted the installation and pluged-in the Windows 8 Disk, and after formating the partition, I've installed Windows 8 64-Bit.
Here is the problem. The Windows works fine, BUT after restart when I hold 'Alt' and choose EFI Boot (Windows 8's partition), Windows 8 starts loading but then suddenly there is a white flash and it restarts again. So after shut down or restart I cannot boot it.
Do you think that this is because I do not have Bootcamp installed on the Windows 8?
I've downloaded the supported software for Windows 8, but when I click setup.exe, it is giving me the following error:
This version of Bootcamp is not intended for this computer model. I've been trying to install it for more than 78 hours, so I'll be extremely gratefull to whoever help me. Thank you in advance.
P.S. Mac OS X partition boots fine.

If it is really not possible, I get it. But there are plenty of people that are running Windows 8 on the same model, that is powerfull enough to run Win 8. I'm actually running it, but until shut down or restart . Can't I edit Info.plst file alternative for Windows 8 like I did to allow BootCamp to image burn my USB on my model? I mean my model is same as the next one. I can't see why the drivers for mid 2010, won''t work on mine...

  • Problems Installing Windows XP in Bootcamp

    Good Morning,
I just received a new Mac Pro Dual Quad 8gb ram and 4x1TB HDD with internal Raid card at work. Our office and software require Windows XP to be installed (Truely wish it was Mac compatible) and when I attempt to install Windows XP in bootcamp, it creates the partition on the Mac OS drive and starts to go into the Windows Install screen. It finishes loading all the drivers on the disk and when it goes into the install portion, it does not see any drives or partitions. Is there something I am overlooking or is there a problem? Thank you for your time and effort in this matter.

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
is that the Apple Raid card ?
The Apple Raid card does not support the installation of Windows on it http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2855
    Sorry

  • WiFi problems in Windows 7 using bootcamp

    Hi
I have a "new" 2011 27" iMac and are sometimes forced to use Windows 7 with Bootcamp.
I installed the latest drivers using bootcamp assistant (and these seem to date back to 2011, so I guess that's what everybody else is using as well). The windows install is only two days old with all the recent updates installed.
When I start in windows I have two issues:
The major one is that the Wifi is there for around 20 seconds, then the screen flashes (like it's loading graphics drivers or something) and then the connection is lost. When I ask windows to repair it it figures out that WLAN autoconfig is not running and I ask for that to be restarted. Sometimes this will solve the problems, sometimes I have to repeat the "repair" a few times. Once it's working the connection seems stable until I restart.
The wifi works fine with Mountain lion and with all other devices we have. I tried the Apple hardware test and everything worked well.
The only clue I have is that after I installed windows I changed the location of the windows user account folder to the HDD instead of the smaller SSD. I did that by changing the default user folder destination to a MS-FAT formatted drive on the HDD, creating a new administrator account, logged into the new account and deleted the old account... But I just can't see why that should have anything to do with drivers and wifi.
The minor problem is that the sound always start out muted when I start windows. I unmute and problem solved (although annoying).
As I said there's absolutely no problems while I'm in Mountain lion, but there's a few windows only programs I need so...

Thanks for the suggestion Rudegar.  I think I found the problem which was from a different source.  I installed an external hard drive and initated Time Machine in my Mac OSX.  While it worked fine for Time Machine when running Mac OSX, apparantly it was causing a problem with Bootcamp and Windows.  When I realized this might be the problem, I sejected the drive in OSX and turned it's power off.  I then shut down OSX and started up using Bootcamp and Windows as I has in the past with no problems.
    Thanks ayway!

  • Problems Starting Windows 7 Using Bootcamp

I have a 2011 iMac which I have been running Windows 7 on for over a year through Bootcamp.  No problems operating it for the past year.  When I tried to go into Windows today through Bootcamp, I got to the screen where you selet your boot choice.  When I select the Windows drive like normal, the screen tirns black (with very slight backlight) and just sits there doing nothing forever.  I don't have a prompt of any kind and neither the mouse or keyboard seem to be operating.
Computer boots fine as a Mac and operates with no problem as a Mac.  Tried several times to re-cycle.  Shut down........restart while holding Option key......start using Windows drive.......all with the same results......a black screen......
Does anyone have any idea what is going on and what I can do to fix it?

i downloaded.iso Windows 7 Home Premium x64 English fromhttp://www.w7forums.com/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads-t12325.html. It starts off smooth but gets half way through downloading windows support and stalls every time. What should i do?

  • Problem with Windows installation with bootcamp (won't start up)

Hi ! I'm trying to install Windows on my Mac mini for the few programs I can't use on mac. When I restart with bootcamp installation assistant, nothing happens. The blue LED is lit, showing that the computer is on, but the screen doesn't recognize any signal and stays black. For info, it's plugged using Apple's mini DVI to VGA adapter. I don't know how to get this installation to work...

    Hi Gn0m:
I do not use Bootcamp, so I cannot help you myself. However, you might get some feedback by posting in the Bootcamp forum as well as here:

  • Problem with Windows 7 through Bootcamp.

WIndows started up fine via a partition through boot camp and the drivers installed fine (except iSight, but meh.)
HOWEVER, whenever I try to start up any downloaded online game, the keyboard and trackpad stop working except for the brightness and sound keys.
Is this a problem with the drivers or is it something else completely?

Doesn't matter what if even any Mac OS they have.
Sounds like the game and whatever it is expecting.
Mac OS has zilch to do, only thing about Windows on Mac is Apple Boot Camp 3.2 or 4.x drivers (and lack of 100% support) which are the main problems.
The one way people shoot their own foot is by making the partition too small. And assuming we are "mind readers" and that you told us all we need to know. Like the game, whether user installed the AMD or Nvidia graphic drivers themselves (essential) along with audio (Cirrus). Apple doesn't do 100% or even make it clear what else is left up to the user.

  • Mac OS 10.4 Network problems with windows

    Hello.
After recently updating my powerful mac g4 to mac os 10.4 a lot of problems arose :
i cannot connect to windows shares anymore (smb server reports somekind of problem in the console)
2008-09-26 20:56:24.769 Finder[198] CFLog (22): Cannot find function pointer CIFSURLMounterFactory for factory 92D4EFEF-F5AA-11D5-A1EE-003065A0E6DE in CFBundle/CFPlugIn 0x5140de0 </System/Library/Filesystems/URLMount/smb.URLMounter> (bundle, not loaded)
of course, absolutely no error appears if i connect to a server, everything is neatly hidden in the console.
and, some kind of mdimportserver keeps on crashing every 10 to 15 seconds
    Sep 26 21:05:04 statia3 crashdump[281]: mdimportserver crashed

    Sep 26 21:05:17 statia3 crashdump[283]: crash report written to: /Users/andrei/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/mdimportserver.crash.log
I've spent HOURS studying these problems, looks like tiger has indeed something with windows and refuses to connect for some reason. I managed to obtain a connection in the terminal with smbclient but i cannot mount the remonte drive on the local system. NONE of the mentioned solutions don't work (keychanin resetting, restarting, software updates, etc.)
As for the mdimportserver well, it just slows my computer down.
Any Apple experts out there, please offer somekind of solution not necessarily to me but to ALL macintosh users out there that work in a windows dominated environment...

Have you done the Software Updates to 10.4.11? some of these may have been fixed already.

  • Problem installing windows XP in bootcamp

    http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/9862/screenshot20101105at125.png
I think i tried to make a partition before, and it worked, But then i quitted bootcamp (it never installed xp becaouse i didnt want to when it was done to create the partition) ... How do i look if i have a windows xp disk? so i can erase it and create a new one

Always use BootCamp to create or erase partitions. Try that first - BUT it is very likely that your data is scattered across the drive and you need to "stack" it neatly on one side.
I found an Archive & Install (re-install) is the easiest & fastest remedy, but you can also try:
iDefrag (costs money - no free trial) is successful 75% of the time, but it is hours of work. 25% of the time iDefrag cannot sweep ALL of your data (I suspect ADOBE type stuff cannot be moved, but I'm not an expert).
The other answer is to follow the directions in the pop-up:
"Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume."
Plug an external hard drive into your USB or FireWire, insert your OSX DVD and reboot holding down the alt-option key. Select the DVD. Select the Language. Wait for the toolbar to appear. Select Tools then Disk Utility. Select the HD (top of the list). Select "Restore". Mouse your cursor to Macintosh HD and click/drag it to Source. Mouse over to your external HD and drag it to Destination. Click "Restore" (lower one) and you are now erasing the external drive while copying your Mac drive completely to the external. Takes 30 minutes or more. Next reformat the Mac drive (erase it to a single partition). Next restore the clone from the external drive to the Mac (reverse the above instructions). Start Bootcamp. Away you go.
    EDIT:
If you decide to archive & re-install, you simply start Bootcamp afterward and restore the single partition then re-partion using BC.
Obviously a person can format the Mac drive and reinstall a clone using Time Machine, or Superduper. I find these less easy and just as risky as the above methods. My experience only...
    Good luck!

  • I'm Having problems installing windows 7 through bootcamp Version 3.0.4onto my Imac 27in mid 2011 model

So confused... ran boot camp, and created the partition, but when I insert my windows 7 disc, it spits it out, and says please insert disk! When I reeboot my computer, it now goes to a black screen that says no bootable drive... and insert boot disc to continue? So now I have to hold down the option key to boot my Imac in its normal mode! Someone, please help!

Update Boot camp through Software updates and sorry to tell you but if the built in Superdrive is not working you will never install Windows on that Mac computer.
As has beenn pointed out Apple have Locked the system from booting from the Windows install system from any other source then the internal DVD drive. So no working internal DVD drive = No installing of Windows.
You'll have to get the internal drive replaced or maybe hack the case and install a Tray load DVD drive in the system. Never tried that but I bet it would work. I think the restriction is the DVD drive has to be connected to the secondary SATA port. Having any DVD drive connected to that port would allow you to boot to the Windows installer.

  • Mac Pro Running Windows XP in Bootcamp with AIM 6.5 Can't Connect to iChat

I'm running Windows XP on my Mac Pro under Bootcamp. The Windows firewall is turned off (I'm running McAfee, and using it's firewall).
I am trying to talk to a friend who is using iChat on a Mac - I am using AIM 6.5 on my Mac running Windows. The connection fails as soon as iChat attempts to answer.
    Mac OS 10.4.10
    Bootcamp 1.4 (beta)
    Windows XP
    McAfee 7.2
    iChat 3.1.8
    Airport Express
I have set up McAfee to allow TCP and UDP connections over ports 2869 (TCP) and 1900 (UDP).
I have also disabled McAfee, and tried to use the Windows firewall settings discussed frequently in this forum (with appropriate exceptions). This also fails.
I have also tried to doing this under my Mac OS X bootup running PARALLELS. This worked once, but I have not been able to repeat it (McAfee was running when it worked).
iChat works great on my Mac under OS X. This is only a problem in Windows XP under Bootcamp.
I cannot connect to appleu3test01 either (under Bootcamp with XP). I can connect to appleu3test01 no problem running iChat on my Mac.
Might this be a Bootcamp related problem? Can anyone else test this for me (i.e. can someone try to use AIM 6.5 from Windows XP under Bootcamp)???
    Thanks!

    Hi Ralph,
{quote}If the Firewall was On I would ask if you had set it up as an Exception
    http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page12.html#_Service{quote}
Yes, this is what I meant by,
    {quote}I have also disabled McAfee, and tried to use the Windows firewall settings discussed frequently in this forum (with appropriate exceptions). This also fails.{quote}
I've noticed that you've posted solutions frequently in this forum. I read your posts, and visited your website. Its great information ... thanks for posting it! However, it didn't help me to resolve this particular problem.
    You asked,
    {quote}The question now becomes have you allowed it through McAfee ?{quote}
I tried resolving the problem with McAfee "ON" and "OFF". When it was "OFF" I Set the Windows firewall up per your instructions. Unfortunately, it didn't help. And yes, this includes setting up the "exceptions."
I don't think the problem is with McAfee.
    You stated,
    {quote}Having said that and seeing you have tried combos around this issue I would have to point out the AIM site says AIM 6.5 will only Video with other AIM applications. It has been reported here though that it does work with iChat{quote}
Yes, I have read that AIM 6.5 will communicate with iChat on several forums. Lots of people appear to have this working. I wish to use iChat on my Mac to communicate with friends running Windows XP (or Vista) using AIM 6.5. I like iChat.
    Finally, you asked,
    {quote}Next I would have to ask if the modem or router is allowing the AIM application ?{quote}
This is a very good question. I have not been able to test this. I couldn't find an AIM "test" address to use (like Apple's appleu3test01). Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help Ralph. This configuration is a little bit unusual, but it should work. I think the problem might be with the AIM configuration as you've suggested. I will continue to troubleshoot and report any findings here.
