I got my 5800 last Friday & am enjoying it very much !
However, today the phone seemed to completely lose my O2 network connection whilst in my office at work.
There was no signal registering & "no network connection" warning whenever I tried to call out.
My room doesn't have the best signal in the world, but this hasn't happened before.
And it wouldn't connect when I went outside either.
I got the signal back by restarting the phone.
Can anyone advise here ? Is it probably just a glitch or something more serious ?

Would recommend first do a backup of your content
Then factory reset the phone.
To do that use the dialer to type *#7370#
Phone askes if you want to restore phone, reply Yes
Then enter lock code: 12345
..then restore your backup.
(Would recommend that you do not restore phone settings from the backup)

Recently the touchscreen on the phone has started to play up. occassionally it works fine but sometimes it doesn't work at all. i'm trying to see if the recent update will solve this problem but any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Check the battery connectors, the contacts in three slots you have on your battery can sometime spread more than normal and therefore it could make loss of power flow from battery to phone. Also try someone else battery.
I have experience with the case that my batterry worked in other 5800 xm but not in mine. Don't ask why was it so!!!

9. The setting to get 16:9 ratio is yes, software, but you also have to consider the sensor hardware. The sensor hardware is able to receive light in the same ratio as the pictures, and not in 16:9 ratio. Hardware cannot be adjusted. You yourself said you work with an SLR camera, and if you look through the viewfinder, you see that the camera lens sees the view in a "square" ratio as well like the phone. Creating software to render a picture in 16:9 ratio is just simply creating software that cuts off the reception of light in the top and bottom part of the picture so as to create a 16:9 effect. Meaning the camera is not utilizing the full 3.2 megapixels of the phone, and the result is just the same as getting the picture you took and editing it on your PC to show a 16:9 ratio.

Ovi maps problems with Nokia 5800 xpress music

Since Ovi updated the maps I've had trouble using it. I have version 40 firmware which was installed by Vodafone when my device expired. Despite the update, Ovi maps just crashes the phone when I try to use it. The screen goes blank and I get all coloured lines flashing down one side and the phone reluctantly restarts. Any advice please?

I am having exactly the same problem with my 5800 xpress music having updated to version 40.0.005.235.10 and installed the new version of OVI maps and the software Own Voice.
I have also tried reinstalling the sotware, restoring my phone to factory settings and resetting my phone by pressing the green, red and camera button whilst powering up. The problem persists. I will be making a call and within a few seconds of the call being connected the phone switches off and back on again. I also get the the coloured lines flasing on the screen.
Please Nokia Support, help us out.

I saw one post where a user said dust got inside the small microphone hole. Using a vacuum cleaner removed the dust and restored the audio.

I think this problem may be caused by Yahoo's changes making it incompatible with the klatest version of FireFox.
This is suddenly affecting many many people who use Firefox and are members of Yahoo Groups. All these people say they themselves changed nothing and have not been locked out before when using Firefox. But suddenly, within the last week, they are.
What did Mozilla do or what did Yahoo do to cause this problem? I can say that I was not blocking cookies and after trying a number of things to fix it, I went to Yahoo's home page and navigated to my group from here.
This problem is not anything a user did. Either Firefox is at fault or Yahoo is. I want to know which company is at fault and when they are going to fix it.

Problem updating Nokia 5800 XpressMusic

Hello,
First excuse me for my bad English.
I have just updated my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic with the USB cable and plugged into the mains. At the end of the update, a window told me that I could unplug my phone and nothing more since it does not turn over: just a vibration but no screen display. I removed the battery and did another test and still nothing. Is there a solution or should I return it to the VAS.

Hi, Did the phone complete the hard reset? I.e. after the phone is completely started up, it prompts for a country selection? To do the reset, the phone must be turned off first, then hold the relative buttons together / simultaneously while turning on, until prompted for the country selection.
If you managed to complete the hard reset, and your problem is still occurring, then please keep me updated as to how you resolved it, just incase I need to also try it

W510 not compatible with Nokia 5800 XpressMusic headset (earpiece)?

Have anyone came across this problem? I have 2 of those headset and I tried both in my W510. When I played any music source, the sound is so diffused like as if it works like a surround speaker that only produce presence sound. To get the vocal, I have to shift the Balance to the extreme left or right. First time encounter such problems. However, other headset work fine with my W510.

did you update your phone to the latest firmware for your phone currently it is v30......but it just got released so it may not be avaliable for all product codes just yet. also is your phone unbranded./unlocked if that is the case then you have a better change of updating than with a provider.

Problem with HP Officejet 8620 (just bought it) not sure if Printer or wireless issue.

Alright so hopefully I have put this in the right forum.
I just bought an HP Officejet 8620, and set it up. It printed the test pages fine yet upon trying to print homework it would dissapear in the Print Queue while saying it was "printing". Thus nothing has come out of the printer except test pages so I am in a bit of a bind.
Now the computer brought up a trouble shoot issue stating "problem with wireless network".
To give some back ground on this issue our previous printer HP Officejet 6500A about a month ago starting printing abnormally slow, and eventually reached a crawl not doing anything.
So im not totally lost, yet as of now do not know what is going on.

I see that you are having some connectivity issues when attempting to print wireless.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Hi, i also trouble with the 3g network. I couldn't make/rec calls or send/rec text msgs but i could email - odd. I rang apple and they had me turn off the 3g setting and now i can use me phone. I assume this is a vodaphone issue and not my phone's fault as i first thought. Just an idea if any one is having similar probs.

Bizarre networking problem with multiple 8.1 GA systems -- RT and Pro

Hi everyone,
I'm having a particularly bizarre problem with the networking on two Windows 8.1 machines, one running Pro and one running RT. Both demonstrate the same behavior.
In both cases, networking (wireless most of the time, although I'm not sure it matters) works fine for some period of time. Eventually it just stops working. Resetting the adapter, or flipping in and out of Airplane mode will bring it back again. The issues
happen on at least 3 wireless access points. In most cases, the networking actually appears to be up -- the limited access warning icon isn't up, although occasionally it does realize the networking isn't working.
Here's the bizarre part -- on both systems, local IP connectivity is fine. I can communicate perfectly well between devices on the same internal network, wired or wifi. During the time the networking isn't working on one or the other 8.1 system, other systems
on the network running Windows 8 (and other systems) work fine. There's no correlation between one 8.1 system stopping working and the other.
On *both* systems, when the networking appears to be failing, a traceroute actually gets 4-5 (or more) hops before going out to lunch. Other systems on the same internal network will cruise along to the same point on the route that is failing on the 8.1
machines and keep right on happily continuing the trace.
So that's the bizarre thing -- something on two 8.1 machines is doing *something* to the packets that is causing them to not route properly to a target system 10-15 hops away, the same routers handling the same kind of traffic from other systems behind my
firewall work fine, and whatever is happening to the packets that is causing issues resolves itself for some period of time if I reset the adapter. (The two systems are a MacBook Air and a Surface RT, so there's no drivers in common between them, either.)
I'm completely at a loss. Anyone see anything like this before, or have any thoughts on what to check?
(And, please, if you're one of those Microsoft support forum people who skim questions for keywords and cut-n-paste back a generic reply without any actual understanding of the problem -- like so many replies on here -- please do not waste my time. I am
trying to find someone who knows Windows 8.1 networking, not someone who knows just enough English to use ctrl-c/ctrl-v)

There is a known issue about Cisco device. It caused some windows 8 clients disconnected from wifi. I understand your windows 8 clients works fine, when the issue occurred on windows 8.1 clients. However, I think the KB article is worth a shot
