Network reset failure to download movie

I am unable to download already purchased movies from iTunes onto my mac. They will begin to download and then fail and the error message says Failure due to Network Reset. I have contacted Apple twice with no resolution.

Two possible problems.
1) ~~~~~~~~
Check your firewall to make sure Digital Editions is not blocked. Maybe check by (temporarily) turning off firewall.
2) ~~~~~~~~~
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1). Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

I have just upgraded to iTunes 7 and purchased 3 movies.
Movies started to download and then stopped.
No recorded of my movies on my PC and the iTunes store site says they were purchased but nothing else.

What exactly is the current connection that speedtest reported?
If you checked signal strength by doing the test on ATV then that is not a proper indicator. Go to istumbler (Mac) or netstumbler (PC) to get a report of the network.
On Apple TV go to settings - general - network - configure DNS. It should be on automatic.

Since installing 7, I cannot download movies or view purchased movies from iTunes . Only movie section of iTunes freezes. Any suggestions, short of reset?

if your MacBook Pro doesn’t stay active long enough to perform an OS X Internet Recovery, then you should make an appointment at your nearest Apple store or Apple-authorized service provider to have them diagnose what’s ailing it.

G'Day all there is a lot of conversation from people experiencing poor download speed when renting movies from the apple iTunes store using the Apple TV (ATV) interface but no solutions I can find yet so sorry to bring it up again. I have a Gen 2 ATV on wireless (Apple time capsule modem router) which worked very well up until several months ago but now can take hours to stream a SD movie when before it took minutes. However using the same ATV to view long uTube video's they seem to work fine ie play straight away yes they are smaller over all but still play straight up rather than initial buffer like the movies, the signal strength is high the updates are all done and I've also done resets I can download the same movie to my either of Mac's beside the ATV in minutes then stream it to the ATV and watch on on my TV without a problem and also do it from anywhere else in the house so dont think using a direct network cable will help to far anyway. I am in Australia and have a 12/1mbps fibre optic connection plan and speed tests to anywhere say the same. I am using and have always used the automatic DNS setting however some net topics say changing it may help others indicate dont.

We also are attempting to download an iTunes (TV show in our case) and we also are not able to do so tonight. We've done it a lot in times past and it normally takes seconds to a few minutes at most to be able to start playing the show/movie. But something has been wrong the past couple days (we're still trying to learn what's going on) and we see messages like it's going to take 44 hours and 10 minutes before we can start playing. Obviously, that's not useable. My guess is iTunes is swamped or having some server issues here at the holidays??? We're also seeing some strange, sporadic network issues which we never have here at our home. So that might be complicating the issue.
But the answer to your question is that under normal circumstances and without the system being overwhelmed, it will typically only take a few seconds to maybe a very few minutes before enough of the movie downloads so you can begin watching it. And from that point, you will be able to watch all ther rest of it as it will continue to download while you watch the first part...

Cant open iTunes store 'NETWORK RESET' message

I keep getting a 'network reset' message when i try to connect to the iTunes store. I can check for itunes updates just fine and Safari works properly.
I removed iTunes and re-downloaded it again... problem still there.
The internet (safari) is working fine. Connecting with both airport AND a LAN line gives same message.
HELP! 4 year old powerbook g4 w/ 1.67 processor and 1 gig ddr ram. OS 10.4.11 and all updates are up to date.
It has been giving me this 'network reset' message for two days now.

I had the same issue. Today I couldn't even open the iTunes store. I set up a support call and no sooner had I hit the button than the phone rang. After spending half an hour troubleshooting which included resetting Safari, I think we hit upon a solution. The tech had me move the iTunes preferences file to the desktop. When I reopened iTunes it recreated the file and everything seems to work fine now.
The file is located at: user/library/preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist.
Don't delete it until you're sure the new one works. You'll have to walk through your iTunes preferences and reset a few things to the way they were before, but it's relatively painless. Good luck.

Can I download to Apple TV in my office next to my iMac and latter move the Apple TV to the room with my HD TV and watch a downloaded movie?

Can I download the movies in my office into a Apple TV unit and where I have my 27 iMac and latter move the Apple unit to my bedroom and watch the downloaded movie in my HD TV?
I am presently watching movies in my 27 iMac downloded from itunes but would love to see them in my hd tv.
Another question would be if i can connect the Apple Tv via the HDMI into my Onkyo hometheater and so i would get the full sound? Or do I have to connect to the hd tv directly?

If it's a first-gen Apple TV (white box), content is stored locally, on its internal HD. You sync it with iTunes just like an iPod or iPhone, and the files go where the unit goes.
If it's an ATV 2 (black box), content is streamed over the network from any connected computers' iTunes libraries. In that case, it shouldn't matter where in the house it is, as long as it and the target iTunes library are on the same network and set up for Home Sharing.
As for connecting it to your HDTV or Home Theater, either should work fine, though I believe the HDMI only outputs video, in which case you'll also want to use the Optical output for the audio as well.

Trouble being unable to download movies

Hi, I have successfully downloaded movies from itunes for a while now. However, tonight when I tried to download two separate movies, I received the following errors:
There was a problem downloading the movie. Part of the files seems to be corrupted.
Or — There was a problem downloading “Our Idiot Brother / Jesse Peretz”. An unknown error occurred (-50).
Please check that the connection to the network is active and try again.
I have updated my itunes. And tried tons of different ways to download the movies, but nothing is working. I was able to successfully download a song. Any suggestions?

Why do my downloaded movies in iTunes stop playing video, but continue to play audio and then go back to normal for a good 25 minutes, then repeat this process. It also will randomly exit the movie and return to my list of movies. It has done this for multiple movies and it is driving me crazy that I can't watch a movie all the way through!! Anyone found a fix for this?

Is this on your iPad or your computer's iTunes (this is the Using iPad forum) ? If you've updated your account to have a new primary email address on it then your computer's iTunes should recognise that you've updated it and you should be able to play them via the updated id (and using the account's current password) - if not then have you tried logging out of your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > Sign Out menu option and then signed back in and seeing if you can then play them ?
If you've bought them via different accounts then you will need to authorise each account to be able to play their downloads. If you can't remember an account's password then see if you can get them reset http://iforgot.apple.com

HT1657 Tried to rent movie but saying error cannot download movie at this time?

Tried to download a rental the other day when trying to download it said I did not have enough space when I did this is due to my iPad having an expired previously rented movie.
Still after this had gone it was saying I did not have enough space. I reset my iPad to then hopefully start downloading my rental and it is now saying error cannot download movie at this time?

Watching downloaded movies on TV

I've been experiencing a problem when watching downloaded movies from my iTouch on my tv. Everything downloads okay and I can see and hear the movie, but the movie is too big for the screen. Is there anyway to adjust the movie to fit the tv screen? I've tried adjusting the tv, but that doesn't work.

How to delete partially downloaded movie from ipad

I tried to download an HD movie to iTunes, but there was not enough space for it. I cannot get rid of the partially downloaded movie. Already tried reset, but that didn't solve anything.

If you're viewing the Purchased screen and see a cloud icon next to the movie, it isn't on the iPad and you can hide it by swiping.
What is the available storage on the iPad? You can check by tapping Settings > General > Usage. Try looking through the list of apps and removing something that you don't think you want anymore, if there is anything. I'm guessing you're gonna need a few gigs free to avoid running into the download/playback problems.
You can always re-download stuff.
