Network Scanner not connecting

Our company has recently purchased an Avision @V6600 Network Scanner and I am having touble setting it up to scan to our iMac. It keeps saying "CIFS not supported" and to check if it can be supported. Does anyone have any ideas? Or does anyone have any experience with those scanners?

Hello, CIGS is the same as SMB, so it may help to enable Windows Sharing in Sys Prefs Sharing.
Also, haven't tried this in 10.8 myself, but...

Did you lose your shared folders with the update of Mac OS X from Snow Leopard to Lion? You can’t see your shared folders from your DVR or Medicaneter boxes hooked up to your TV? The internet tells you to install gigabytes of developer tools and use tons of command-line instructions to regain the ability to see your mac from your other devices in the house after moving to Lion? We might be able to help.

  • SOLVED! HP Officejet 6500A E710 will not stay connected to the network. scanner not connected

After 5 hours of live remote HP tech support, and 10 more hours of web searching, I am happy to say I have solved the wireless network connection issue with scanning and printing using the HP Officejet 6500A E710n-z.  I notice that there are a lot of people with similar issues with no common, successful fix.  Here is what worked for me.
    Background Info:
Upgraded internet service from 9Mbps to 27Mbps...Provider brought out new Arris DG860 modem/router.  Configured network and connected all clients (smart phones, PCs, Tablets, etc) successfully accept the printer.  With this new router/modem the printer/scanner/fax would not connect to my PC at all (Windows 7 64-bit).  The Officejet was always connected to the network, however, anytime I tried to print I would get an error "Unable to connect to the printer...", and when I made an attempt to scan.."Scanner not connected, make sure it is connected to the network..." blah blah blah.
    Process:
After searching the web for solutions with no success, I finally made my first call to HP tech support.  Tech tried numerous fixes: many network changes (channel, static IP, etc.), made changes to Windows system settings and registry, installed new software and drivers, ran the scan doctor, partial, semi, and full reset on the printer.  He changed my wifi channel to 6 (or 11) from AUTO and whola.  That seemed to fix the problem.  After hanging up the phone 10 minutes later "No connection" errors again.  Made a second call to HP Tech Support, and this new tech basically tried all the same fixes as the first tech.  Worked again for 10-15 minutes then disconnected.  Made third call to tech and this individual tried the same fixes as the previous two, but to no avail.  He said he would have to direct me to a more Advanced Technician and would call back tomorrow.  They called back the next day, and this new tech fixed the issue within 20 minutes.
    Problem/Solution:
The fourth "more advanced" tech made one change in my network configuration settings.  He changed my network mode from B/G/N to B/G and now the printer/scanner/fax stays connected and works like brand new.  The only problem is that all my devices (including the Officejet) are 802.11N capable.  Setting my network to the old B/G mixed mode slows my speed down just a bit.  Using B/G/N mode or N, my download speed is 27 Mbps.  On B/G mixed my speed is 25Mbps.  Not too big of a deal, though.  All the HP Support Techs were very nice and helpfull.  They refunded my $25 Tech fee [fee charged when product is out of warranty] because the problem is not "technically" solved, even though it does work.  Conclusio:  This seems to be an issue with my the modem/router provided by my ISP.  Could also be that it is an older Officejet and need to upgrade.    To Fix Follow the Steps Below:
Step 1:  Find your default gateway IP...usuall 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or similar.  Type this IP into your web address bar and hit enter.
Step 2:  Enter the username and password.  This is normally set at factory default --> username: admin ....passowrd: password .... or .... admin
Step 3: Go to the "Wireless Setup" tab and under the "Advanced Options" and "Wireless Network Settings" change the "Wireless Mode" to "B/G mixed".
Step 4:  Click "Apply" then close the browser.
You may, or may not, lose your wifi connection for a short period while the new settings are applied and you may, or may not, have to power cycle your modem/router.  That's it.  Worked for me and I hope it works for you too.  If you have any questions or comments please feel free to post.

OK, that all sounds right.  Here are a few more router config ideas:
    1. Make sure that 802.11g mode is available, along with others is OK, but 'g' must be present.
    2. Change the channel to 11.
    3. Use WPA or WPA/WPA2 encryption, not WPA2 only.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Guest network will not connect to Internet

My Airport Extreme guest network is not connected to the Internet. The main network is fine. And all of it worked yesterday and before.

If everything was working before, there may have been an interuption of service on the network, so devices may be out of sequence.
Suggest that you power cycle the entire network as follows:
Power everyhing down....all devices...order is not important
    Wait a few minutes
Start the modem first and let it run a few moments by itself
Start the AirPort Extreme and let it run a minute
Start other devices one at a time about a minute apart until everything is powered back up
Check the network for proper operation

My WiFi network is connected on my PC but it would not locate the network nor be connected to my ITouch wat can I do to fix it, it did not work ever since I went out of town how can i fix it let me know soon thanks

Try turning Wi-Fi Off/On from Settings, if it still doesn't show up try Resetting Network Settings on the iPod touch.
You can also try unplugging the Wi-Fi router and then plugging it back in to restart it.

  • Selected Wi-Fi Network will not connect

I have selected a Wi-Fi network in my home, entered the password and it shows as selected; but it will not connect.  Help

One frequent suggestion is to check that your router has the latest firmware. Another is to test your wifi at a public wifi location like a coffee shop and such.  If it works there, then you'll know it's your router. And no, just because your router works with other computers doesn't mean it will work with the iPad.

  • My airport network will not connect to to the internet via my modem. My host computer is a hp running windows xp. I have had great connection for 3 years. Then suddenly can not connect. Please can you assist

My airport will not connect to the internet via my modem. Worked for 3 years. Suddenly stopped. Main host computer is hp running windows xp.
When trying to connect windows states connection was cancelled. I have had hp checked by compputer repair and still have same problem?

The router is much, much newer than the computer, perhaps some characteristic of the WiFi network as it's currently setup is preventing the computer from connecting.
Try to go back to the basics: set your WiFi network to "b" mode only (i.e., turn off "g") and termporarily remove the password from it. See if the computer will at least establish a connection at that point. Then start turning on one thing at a time ("g" mode, then security, etc).
Not sure what format your WEP key is, but if it's not 10 characters (the minimum for the standard, which constitutes a 64-bit key), you can try making it that long. If it's 13 or 26 characters, it might be a higher encryption than the computer can support.
If all else fails, you could try looking on ebay/craigslist for a copy of Tiger to install on the iMac, which would have software support for more WiFi encryption schemes. Also, it would provide software support for USB WiFi adapters that would also be able to connect to more modern networks.

  • Network Adapter not connected to the computer. (GS70 Stealth Pro 2PE)

    Hi guys, please help me.
I'm currently using a GS70 Stealth Pro 2PE. I am currently trying all means to fix my WiFi card, the Dual Band AC 7260. This has happened twice already, during the first time, I could not use WiFi at all as it says it is not connected to the computer, but after waiting for approximately for a day, it fixed itself. Which was surprisingly weird. However, it happened again after 4 months, this time, there is no way to fix it, i tried resetting the BIOS, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, updating it by my Ethernet cable- which it always says its up to date.....
I am really at a loss now.... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, i have tried uninstalling the adapter and installing the one available from intel which is the wireless/proset thing. But after installing it i do not see any driver in the device manager. Only the ethernet controller is only available in the network adapter list. So it is pretty weird as in the intel website, it states that it is the driver package, but after installing it seems like a software to manage wifi or bluetooth.

  • SMB Network Drive not connecting

I have an SMB NAS drive that connected fine in 10.4. However, with 10.5, on my MacBook Pro I can connect to it and can see the 2 volumes on it but can't do anything with them, and can't disconnect from it once connected. On an iMac G5 also upgraded to 10.5, it starts to connect and then locks up. I can connect to the NAS with FTP with no problem but not through sharing.

Ok, I got it working at 3am last night, and I'm embarrassed to say how. Case sensitivity. My logins differ by the case of the first letter, so I used the syntax to add that and it worked. And I'd swear I did that already at some point, and/or when using the full mount syntax, so I don't know.
The thing that now ticks me off is, why did this all work fine in Tiger??? I have a theory which I won't get to explore until after work - perhaps the Keychain corrupted? I wonder since whenever I try mounting via the go menu (that still doesn't work, by the way), it prefilled my long name as the user. Now, logically, when I first connected months ago, I would have added the capitalized username in that dialog the first time and been done, which is why I took it for granted that it just would work. So now I'm wondering if no matter what I type, it's ignoring me and trying to log in with my long name from the go menu or the network thing in the finder. There have been some rumblings about some people's Keychains getting borked a bit, so maybe...
Strm, since you asked specifically, I was using (I hope this is right, I'm not on the Mac right now) mount_smbfs //User@machine/sharename /Volumes/whatever
If I'm wrong, the @ is a colon. It's annoying that there are all these subtle differences in syntax Also, when I trashed the volume in the UI, it seemed to automatically delete the directory I mounted to, so you may have to keep recreating it. Anyhow, that brings up something else interesting (or not)...I'm not having the IP problem...I can refer to my PC by it's network name in the command line no problem. I think that may be further evidence that my problems, at least, aren't in the smb setup per se, but in the Finder interaction.

  • HT3477 Time capsule guest network will not connect to internet

I've set up a guest network on my timecapsule but everytime I attempt to connect to it, it knocks out the internet.  I have had it working in the past but for some reason it's no longer working.  Has anybody got any suggestions?

  • My guest network will not connect.  Where do I look at the set up?

I use comcast as my ISP and use their Arris router (modem??) to connect.  I have an airport extreme for my wireless network for printing, ipad, etc.
I set up a main network and also a guest network so that I wasn't giving everyone my main network password.  It has worked fine until I updated to 10.8.5
Now, whatever device I use, iphone, ipad, iMac, to try and connect to the internet, and choose my guest network, which I can see in the list of networks to choose from, along with my main network, the indicator on the device just spins, but it never connects to the network.
I looked in airport utility and see the internet with a green ligh and the AE with a green light.  Where do I see my networks, and how they are set up, in order to figure out what has gone wrong?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hi sundancepass!
I have a couple of articles for you here that may help resolve this issue. First, a link to the new user's guide to the iPod shuffle! While this is a guide for the second generation iPod shuffle, not much has changed, so it will still be mostly relevant:
The New User's Guide to iPod shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1654
There may be a very small issue keeping your iPod from showing up in iTunes. This is an often overlooked mistake, and there is an article about this issue right here:
iPod shuffle (4th generation): Not seen in iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3572
If you are still having issues with your iPod showing up in iTunes, you may want to refer to this article for further troubleshooting:

  • Airport shows full bars but no networks listed, not connected

I recently began having an issue where my MacBook Pro (mid-2012, running 10.9.2) loses the wireless connection. However, the Airport icon in the menu bar still shows full bars (as if I were connected), but no networks are listed in the drop down menu.
Our other computer (a 2008 MacBook) and phones (moto G and Nexus 5) remain connected, at the same time, nor have they any similar issue. So it appears to be an issue specific to my MacBook Pro.
When I try to turn the Wi-Fi off then back on in the menu bar to see if it will reconnect, the Airport icon goes empty when I click off, but it does not come back to show the bars when I click it back on, remaining 'empty'. Yet I in the drop-down menu I regain the option to 'Turn Wi-Fi Off,' though no networks are listed.
Also, I use this machine daily at work on a university network Wi-Fi and have not had any issues (yet).
I've run Disk Utility after running into this problem, and it instructs me to Repair the Disk in Recovery Mode (via restarting the computer with CMD+R). Doing this, and sometimes doing just a normal restart, so far brings the connection back as normal.
This happened for the first time last weekend, happened again a couple days later, then twice this morning. So it's not constant but is enough that I'm seeking help.
I've scoured the system.log but don't really know what I'm looking for, thus not sure what to paste in here that would be helpful.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately, I'm living in a spot in Europe that's not really near any Apple stores (and not sure I wholly trust the nearest 'Trusted retailer' to sort this out).
The more I dig through this issue, the more it's seeming to categorize with the numerous discussions already ongoing about wi-fi drops with Mavericks (here, here, and here for example). The jist of these is that there seems to be no true, ultimate "fix." I tried many of the suggested workarounds (deleting Bluetooth plist, keeping the Bluetooth off, dropping the Wi-Fi from the Network preferences pane and re-adding it, creating a new network location, unsyncing iCloud Keychain, resetting the PRAM, rebooting the SMC). None gives permanent fix thus far.
My hardware tests and Disk Utility reports still come back clean, as well.
And I'm again using this computer on a Wi-Fi network at work with zero problems so far.
Further, we still have another computer (older MacBook, running 10.6.8)  and two phones connecting to the home Wi-Fi that haven't had any issues, so it's not likely as simple as a bad router or home connection.
Whether something in the configuration isn't playing nice with Mavericks, however, is an issue I'm going to try to sort out further (e.g., I've read that changing the wireless router channel has helped some people).

  • Installed successfully but network is not connected. Yet when I go on my Mac network is connected. Is there any other way to solve this problem? Please help.

    Hi,
I have just installed Windows 7 Home Premium on my Mac book Pro 13inch, it installed successfully but there is no network connection. Yet when I go on my Mac I can get online no problem. Please help or what other way I can do to connect windows online?

Did you download Windows Support Software when you started installing windows via Bootcamp. If yes you need to then install the Support Software after installing windows which contains Windows drivers for Mac hardware.
