Network Settings / Router Access
I have an imac and an Addon 3500 wireless router which I use to connect my Xbox360 to broadband
In the past if I have had to switch the power off of the iMac I have accessed the router via http://192.168.1.1/ by accessing wireless connection and saving these again the xbox then worked fine
However trying to access the above address no just results in the browser hanging and falling over. I can still access the net fine.
If I go into System Preferences - Network I get a pop up box with the below message
Your network settings have been changed by another application
If I click 'ok' the message just re-pops and i cant access the network settings as it keeps re-popping
I am assuming the two are linked???
Before answering, you should either update your profile which shows an old Tiger version, or repost in the appropriate Tiger forum.
Leopard networking is very different from that or Tiger.

Hi All,
I need some advise on the following design.
I am designing a campus network using routed access with OSPF. I will have 3 tiers - core, distribution and access. I am looking to configure the core/distribution links in OSPF area 0 and then the distribution/access links in a non-backbone area such as 1. I will then be able to filter/summarize etc as the ABR boundary.
I only have 2 links from my core to distribution layer and I'm planning to terminate them on separate distribution switches (dist1 and dist2), see attached diagram.
The links facing the DC will be in area0 and the links facing the access will be area1 but what area should the distribution to distribution link be in? I understand that if it is in the non-backbone area1 then I will loose the ability to use the link to the second core as intra area routes will be preferred by dist1. Are there any other considerations here? Should I connect two links between the the 4500s and configure 1 link in area 0 and 1 link in area1?

About how many L3 routing devices, and how many subnets, do you anticipate? Depending on that, you might one to consider a single area design. -
I recently unlocked my iphone 4. I am trying to use it on Net 10's network. However, i cannot access the network settings. I have the Net10 Sim already in it. A few notes listed below of what i have tried:
1.) I downloaded the iphone configuation utility. But cannot get the right settings to apply. (so if you have the correct ones i could use those)
2.) i have watched 1000 youtube videos and been on practically every page online and tried 1000 different versions of APN settings through the configuration
3.) I do not have another SIM card from another carrier to try.
Open to suggestions on how i can get the APN settings to change. Not worried about picture messaging or anything, but would like my internet to work. Calls and text work fine.i have seen this option..problem being...i dont have access to WIFI i live in the middle of ten buck too! We cant even get internet out here i have to go a friend house to get internet. I was going to try that once i did get to town but was looking for other options here at home frist.

Hello, I am having some major troubles connecting my iPhone 4S to my home wifi. When I try to connect on my phone, it says I have an incorrect password. That's not possible because I can connect my MacBook to the same network with the same password. I have reset my network settings on my phone, reset my router, called apple support, triple checked I was trying it in correctly, I have no clue what's going on.
The only thing different is I just moved, but I have the same router/phone/internet provider.
I've seen some discussions of router security options being the problem, I have my router connected to : WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES].
The other options are: WEP , WPA-PSK[TKIP] , WPA2-PSK [AES] , WPA/WPA2 Enterprise.
My troubleshooting and understanding of all this is pretty limited, my applecare service did not help, please can anyone help me?

Everytime I try to access the itTunes Store, this is the message I receive:
iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. The network connection timed out.

The internet connection is fine. I don't know how to fix this problem, and in the meantime I cannot connect at all to buy songs. Thanks for your help.I feel you pain i'm haveing the same problems here.

I went to a friends house this weekend who also has a wireless router named Linksys, obviously with a different password. Ever since I connected to her network I have to enter my network password at home everytime I start my computer up or wake it up from sleep mode.
My questions is what caused this to happen and how do I reconfigure my network settings so that I don't have to re-enter my password all the time?

After updating my iPad 2 to iOS 6, I cannot connect to my router. I have turned the router off, left off for a considerable time, turned the iPad off and on, reset the network settings, nothing works. Any other suggestions? It is obvious many others are having similar problems, so the iOS 6 looks like a loser.
I have just upgraded from a 3 to a 4S and now I can't connect to my wifi. I've tried everything, resetting network settings, switching to boot, renewing lease, rebooting, turning off cellular data etc etc. nothing works!! Very frustrating!

I just finished updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.0.2. It was working fine after a week, and then just yesterday, I couldn't access Instagram when I was on cellular data, but with Twitter, Facebook, etc. I had no problems. I tried restarting my phone, restarting the network settings, even reinstalling the app but nothing works. What should I do?
P.S. I have the same problem with my Clash of Clans app. Only works with Wifi, the app doesn't load when i;m oHi, dansamson.

I've reset my network settings , my wireless router is working fine, my iPhone keeps saying unable to join network.
Are there other devices that can connect to your Wi-Fi and work just fine?
You can troubleshoot this using http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398 as well. If you need to restore your iPhone at all, use http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US and http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414?viewlocale=en_US and set it up as new to see if this still happens. If it does, you might need a replacement -
Sudden change in network settings - can no longer access web sites
All of a sudden, I am no longer able to access any web sites on my Mac Mini. Everything was working fine and then yesterday I tried to get on-line to look something up and it didn't work.
I restarted the computer, checked internet connectivity - which all appeared to be working correctly. When I went to check my System Preferences, Network - I got a message that pops up telling me my network settings had changed but it hangs there and when I click OK, it just hangs. I have to force quit to exit the network settings. The only change I've made recently has been to load Genius to itunes.I too have noticed that there's a split second after typing return that you can click on something (I've done "edit locations" in the pop-up). It solves temporarily, but seems to come back whenever you reboot or log in.
I'm trying to decide if I have an additional problem or is a further complication: I'm using DSL through ethernet with the phone company. The symptoms of my intermittent problem are that sometimes I suddenly can't receive back web pages or email...loading a page or getting mail will simply time out without response. All other indications, however are that the connection is still good including status lights on the DSL modem and using the network utility to test a URL look up. I might attribute this to the security update bug, but two other machines that connect through the same hub and modem get no action either once this happens (TiPB running 10.4.3 & Prismo running 10.3.9). Is there any chance that the security update on the AlPb with 10.4.11 is blocking incoming traffic by setting something out at the DSL modem? -
Network Settings After Router reset
My telephone switchboard had a fault (unknown to me) which made my ADSL Router interfere with my telephone. Initially I suspected that my router was faulty and went through a sequence of checks to isolate the problem. this included resetting the router to its factory settings. The switchboard problem having been fixed, the interference from the router ceased (the router was not the problem) and I proceeded to reconnect to my ISP but could not do so. The router gave solid DSL and Ethernet lights and I appeared to be connected but I could not open any pages in Safari. In desperation, I booted from my external hard drive; I was able to connect straight away and was able to reset my ADSL username and password. However, this only works on my external boot drive. When I re-boot using my internal drive I am unable to open any pages in Safari. It appears that something in my Network settings (?) on my main drive has been corrupted, but I cannot work out what (It is not Safari as that worked okay when I was booted from the external drive). Could it be my Network Preference Pane? How should I proceed?
Andy, many thanks for your input. I had already done what you suggested but tried it again. Diagnostics could not isolate the problem. The only difference in behaviour was that during the diagnostics process the 'Ethernet' light flashed at about 5 second intervals. Prior to using the diagnostics tool all 3 lights were steady and the Network preferences panel stated that I was connected to the Internet on built-in ethernet. When I open Safari, however, I get the dialogue box that I am not connected to the Internet and offered Network Diagnostics.
This is why I believe that my problem is a faulty Start-up item or extension (does OSX have 'extensions'?) but I do not know how to identify where the fault lies. I have searched my systems using Spotlight in an attempt to find a Network or Internet related file with a recent modification date but this has drawn a blank. Frankly, I think that there are just too many files for this approach to work. I guess that I can try replacing likely sounding files one by one, but I am afraid of making the problem worse by this approach.

Restore Network Settings/Can't Access Internet?
Hello. Really hoping someone can help me out here. Long story short: I had accountability software on my computer and it didn't seem to be functioning properly, so I tried troubleshooting it myself. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it so I decided to try installing it again. In my haste, I (foolishly?) deleted the program from my hard drive without first uninstalling it. Now it seems to have placed a stranglehold on my ability to access the Internet: every webpage comes up with either "this webpage is not available" or "this website has been blocked by [accountability software]."
What do I do? I've tried running diagnostics and checking my network settings and everything *appears* in order (but I am a novice at some of the more advanced troubleshooting stuff), and I even attempted a command+r reboot last night in the hopes that it would somehow wipe any traces of this program from my computer. Alas, nothing.
Is there anything else I'm forgetting? Honestly what can I do to just get rid of this program and regain Internet access?Are you able to access the internet while started in Safe Mode ?.
If so, download the uninstaller; or reinstall & use the built-in one, if that's what the developer says is required. There may also be manual removal instructions online somewhere. -
Internet stopped working. Can't access Network Settings.

So I start up my IMac G3 this morning and I can't access the Internet.
I can't even get to the Network Settings, in System Preferences. It just frezzes up.
Im running 10.2, but I tried upgrading to 10.3 and it keeps frezzing up.
Everything else works fine. Any ideas, suggestions. If I try to re-install 10.2 will I have to format the drive or will it just install over the existing OS?

Mike A.Ok. I tried the Disk Permisions already and still nothing. I'll try creating a new User and let you know what happens.
Also, I was going through my HD and deleting things to free up more space. Than I tried upgrading to 10.3. So far the upgrading is working. Not sure if that will fix my Internet connection either.
Strange how it would'nt upgrade with 3.5 gigs but would with 7 gigs free.
