Network signal predominantly: 'Searching...'

My iPhone is a 3GS that's been upgraded to IOS 5.0.1 on November 19th last.
Yesterday I found out how to enable the new integrated Twitter functionality.
I don't know if they are related but my phone has difficulty staying connected with the O2 network. When it does manage to connect the little network connected icon stays at 5 bars (i.e. full strenght) then drops to one bar after about 30 seconds and and reverts back to 'Searching...' message it stays in this state for over 2 minutes before going into the same sequence again. During this time I am unable to make or receive calls or send ot recieve texts (with the exception of iMessages which are transmitted over WiFi).
I contacted O2 to see if there was a local network fault for example a network cell down. There was no reported incident. Also all other phones on the O2 network are working without a problem.
I have on the suggestion of a friendly Apple Service operator replace the SIM card as it was thought that it might have failed. This is have done without any noticable change in the problem, hence the possibility of a faulty SIM is eliminated.
I have tried resetting network connections i.e. Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Connections. This has not made any difference to the problem.
In its present state the phone is unusable.
I would welcome any suggestion that I might try as my telephone support as expired.

I have this problem too. Phone can't latch to signal while other phones can so I tried restoring my phone. It failed because of unresponsive firmware.
I was able to restore back to 7.1.2 after the phone went fully discharged (I suspect the firmware was reset during the discharge). I got cell service back but after 1 hour, went back to searching. Restored and failed again.
What I learned from this encounter:
If your phone has charge, restore tries will fail since there is power supplied to the baseband/firmware.
Let your phone discharge and charge again to revive the firmware and make the restore push through.
The final nail to the coffin though is when my last restore effort took a toll on the charging mechanism. I left the phone to discharge for my next restore effort but when I plug it in, its direct to an apple logo and then connect to iTunes logo. When I unplug it, the phone immediately turns off (which means the battery is not holding any charge thus DFU and Restore mode technically won't work). I left the phone overnight with no dice. I feel bad because the phone is less than 2 years and is in good condition.
Usually a discharged phone will show a low battery and turns on after 10-20 minutes.

I couldn't find the edit button on my original post so I am posting an update here.
I have gone through more apps and have had good luck on all but one more. And it's not that the app doesn't work, I am talking about the Yahoo Weather app, It works fine, but when you swipe between cities the screen lags a bit and it sometimes doesn't move between pages the way it should. On iOS 7.1.2 it was smooth as butter but on iOS 8.0, not so much. I will post a note in the app store to let them know. I really like the Yahoo app better than the new stock app.
I have been going through my games and they all work fine. Angry Birds (Original and Stella), Canabalt, Minecraft, Bejeweled 2, Silly Walks, PopWords, Doodle Jump, Deep Green all seem to work just fine.
Starbucks app works as it should.
I will stop back again next week after I have had the weekend to play with it in detail and post my thoughts again.

IPhone 5 network signal when lock and unlock goes to Searching--- No service--- ATT

I am Bharat from Boise, ID. I have bought iPhone 5 few months ago and recently I am facing network signal issue with my iPhone 5. I have tried reset the network settings, Reset all settings, Removed SIM and installed. Still I face the same problem. When I lock the mobile and unlock its showing the signal as Searching then goes to No Service than gets ATT signal. Before I used iPhone 4 and there was no such issues. Would like to know is this issue in some products? So that can replace that might help. Please give your valuable suggestions that greatly helps in resolving the issue. Appreciate your help!!!!

I suggest that you stop by an AT&T corporate store, not a reseller, and see about replacing the SIM card for the phone. If this does not fix your issue, then you can make an appointment with the Genius Bar at the Apple store and have them check out the hardware.

Issue with mobile network signal ("Searching")

I recently purchased 2 iPad from Singapore and upon retuning to Malaysia, i applied for 2 mobile broadband package from the same mobile provider.
Issue i am facing is, on one of the ipad, the mobile network signal bar displays "Searching" almost all the time; only a few times it displays strong signal with 3G icon then it drops to "Searching" again. I tried to swap the micro sim around between both ipad but no such issue on the 2nd ipad which is consistenly strong signal.
I even restored the ipad (factory shipped 3.2.2) but no success.
What should i do?

After further test, I noticed the unit can't find any mobile provider under Settings > Carrier when signal bar displays "Searching".
Enabling airplane mode does not help either; only workaround is to disable Cellular Data under Settings > Cellular Data then Enable it again.

No network signal on Xperia L

Just got an Xperia L from my network provider. I placed my sim in it but there is no network signal at all. I put my sim back in my old phone and checked for network signal and there was signal. So it's really a problem with the phone. Do I need to check the network settings? I've tried searching for available networks and the phone detects my provider. But it does not want to connect whether I choose connect automatically or choose manually. Please help. Thanks.

Hello my fellow iPhone 4s users...
i have been going around the web for solution to the lost signal. Upon further investigation and diagnosis with my iPhone and other iPhone with a combination of chnage of sim between phones, resetting the network, hard reset and restoring a few times, it still persist. My analysis is that the iOS 5 >Settings>General>Cellular Data is the culprit. It does not have an option of switching between Edge and 3G (unlike the previous iOS lower than 5.0 or 5.0.1) It always stays on 3G. Now comes the trickiest part of my analysis. For networks having mid to low signal in areas, the updated dual antenna of the iPhone 4s switches automatically between 3G and normal signal. However, since it has no option to go down to Edge, it "automatically revert back to the original signal status". Sometimes from a very strong signal to a low signal area, it shows full bar of signal. but when you try to send an sms or make a call, it fails.
Conclusion:
I believe Apple has been digging deep with their softwate developers and checking the hardware of the iPhone 4s. And if my analysis is correct, they may have to incorporate the option of EDGE and 3G again.
Temporary Solution:
For low reception/signal areas, actually NONE... we have to wait for the update by Apple.
So either use our iPhone 4s as an expensive iPod on poor reception/signal areas and transfer our sim cards temporarily to another phone or have your phone put to AIRPLANE MODE on-off again.

Network signal recovery problem

iOS 7 does not recover network signal, after loosing at uncovered areas such as underground or elevators. It stayes at "searching..." at the network label. Everytime I make either "airplane mode" on/off or "reset network settings". Is there any solution?

You are as far as you can be with the original iPad; only iPad 2 and greater will update to 7+

I haven't gotten a new sim card because the problem has been presenting itself in various cards not only mine. So far, all I've done is reset my network settings.
Last night, I turned off the 3G tab and it had all the signal bars. Today, I did the network reset and it's working apparently. But like I said before, previously the bars just disappear and the iphone only has the 3G activated.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. You likely have a bad battery.

TS1424 When I ave network coverage, my wi if drops out. I am only able to access my music on my phone when I have no network signal, otherwise all songs are greyed out

Grey text when you look at the content and a lock symbol at the bottom of the screen just indicates that the iPod is set to sync automatically with iTunes. If you want to connect an iPod to multiple computers, play the iPod songs through iTunes, delete songs from the iPod, drag songs from iTunes, add playlists to the iPod etc. you need to change the update setting to "manually manage songs and videos". The text will change from grey to black and everything will be directly accessible through iTunes:

Something to remember about using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

Nokia 5310 No network signal

My nokia 5310 suddenly lost its signal and I am unable to make or receive any calls or texts.......I have switched off, removed battery and SIM card, tried SIM card in another phone (that worked OK), carried out factory reset, reinstalled SIM and battery, but still does not have any network signal........Any ideas please.....HELP.

Check your phone with another compatible sim. If that doesn't work then your only other option is to send it to your nearest Nokia Care Point.

My N900 is not showing Network signal

I have been using my N900 since last 13 months everything was working fine. Suddenly it stopped showing network signal. I took it to nokia care they looked at it and I dont know what updates they did. They changed some ICs and charged me heavily but still they couldn't fix it. They assume its due to some issue in motherboard. Now my warranty has lapsed they are asking very huge amount to fix the issue. People always advised me not to buy costly nokia phones as their quality is very inferior. Nokia has really made a fool of me by selling such a substandard hardware. I should have bought Iphone atleast my money won't have gone waste.

now this can be a stupid icons problem, enable devels and install powatool and check for "connui cellular" in the statusbar options, check it and uncheck it and retry ........
and try this : install theme customizer, and the symbian-anna icon pack (or any icon pack that changes the signal bars icons) change the icons and reboot .
and finally can you type this command in x-terminal : dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=com.nokia.phone.net /com/nokia/phone/net Phone.Net.get_signal_strength | awk 'NR==3 {print "-"$2" dBm"}'
and than click enter , take a screenshot (ctrl+shift+p) and post it here .

Nokia N70 not showing network signals

Hello my dear friends,
I am currently facing a problem for my handset nokia n70.
The problem is that the network signals which we always see on the top left side of the screen is not visible.I have checked by exchanging the sim card and tried it on another handset which is working fine.So it is confirmed that the handset is having some problem.Could any body helpout to resolve my problem.

One thing you can try is to reset the phone using the instructions you can find in this post :

However please be aware that doing so will wipe ALL the data from your phone such as information in your calendar, contacts and so on.
In order to save your data you can use the PC Suite application to save and restore the data from your phone - this software can be found here :

One thing to note is that as part of these diagnostics, you should NOT restore any backup or install any software on the phone as you could be putting the problem back onto the phone.
If this doesn't work then it's likely you have a hardware fault and you should approach your local Nokia Service Centre to get your phone fixed.

Is there problems with the network/signal in the TA3 Taunton area I have not had a signal all day and then to make contact with one of my children regarding school pick up.

Unfortunately so. Spoke to EE today and the service may take up to 72 hours to get back to normal - which is unbelievable given how much we use our phones for day to day life! As they cannot do anything for us, to thank us for our patience they are asking us to monitor when the service resumes and get back to them (no doubt on their £ per min line) and let them know and they’ll credit us for the down time. Just Brilliant!!
