Networked Printer Printing Hieroglyphics

Hey everyone! I've got a slight issue with my print server... or I guess a printer that's managed by my print server. It seems that our users aren't able to print anything out without it printing in what seems to be Egyptian Hieroglyphics. However, if we
print a test page from our computers, it seems to work just fine.
The only difference in our computers are that they are using x86-bit and we are running x64-bit machines. Other than that there are no differences. We have tried deleting and recreating the printer from the print management console on the print server. We
can delete the printer but seem to have issues when trying to delete the port that was associated with that printer. It says that, "The requested resource is in use," and will not allow us to delete it.
Other than drivers specific to the architecture of our machines... I'm not entirely sure how to fix this issue. Anyone got any ideas? They would be greatly appreciated! :)

Hi,
à
It says that, "The requested resource is in use," and will not allow us to delete it.
à
If I run a Net Stop Spooler from an elevated cmd prompt on the server, I'm able to delete the port and printer once I've restarted that service!
Thanks for sharing your solution in the forum. Your time and efforts are highly appreciated.
In addition, would you please let us know the current situation of that network printer printing issue? Did you
update printer drivers and monitor the result? Please also open Event Viewer and check if find some relevant clues.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Justin Gu

Not printing text only on Canon--grahics print ok.  Not printer problem.  Prints ok on a Brother and another network Apple prints ok on Canon.  Believe a computer setting was inadvertently reset.  What setting and how do I reset?

Without your printer model numbers, readers can only give you vague general directions.
    System Preferences > Print&Fax > ...
... shows a list of all set-up printers.
If you are having serious problems, it makes sense to "Reset the Printing System" (which also removes all printer set-ups) and add back each printer. It only takes a few minutes.

  • HP8500A all-in-one can no longer scan thru wireless network but prints fine.

HP8500A all-in-one can no longer scan thru wireless network but prints fine. Have used this device several times over past 2 years on different wireless networks (at home) but usually at some point I lose wireless scan function but maintain wireless Printing.  I used to be able to reload the software and resolve the issue but now in this "new network" cannot get wireless scanning to work.   Setup software; original software (CD) and current download as well as "Print/Scan Dr"  hangs-up at "network check"  for hours.  Compaq laptop, Dell Laptop, Cell phones and Roku work fine thru network.  Scanner works fine with USB to Laptops.

    Which model Epsons are they?
I'm assuming you're using Yosemite (OS X 10.10), and that the problem developed when you upgraded from a previous OS.
    (Your profile says 10.6.7 BTW).
Maybe the scanning function is not compatible with Yosemite.
You could try a few things:
    reset your wifi system:
power down everything: modem, router, computer, printer/scanners.
    wait a minute.
power them all up again, in that order: modem, router, computer, printers. Let each power up completely before going on to the next.
try a factor reset on your printer/scanner (if there is such a function). You'll have to check your manual for how. If you do that you'll have to enter the wifi password in your printer/scanner, assuming you have security on your network.
uninstall any printer manufacturer "utilities" that are on your Mac, and try Image Capture again.
If it is a compatible software issue, you could try VueScan, but I've never needed to use it.

  • Home Network and printer sharing with XP and Vista

I have a home network and printer wired on my PC desktop which runs XP.  My Vista laptop has been connected to internet and printer through the home network for past 6 years flawlessly.  However, since October my Vista laptop cannot
connect to the network printer, but internet has been working fine.
I've tried to uninstall/reinstall, update drivers, connect via TCP/IP but printer isn't located by add printer wizard.  When I plug printer directly into laptop via USB it works fine.  I also have tried another xp desktop in the house
and that cannot locate the printer also.     Help!
    Thanks in advance,

  • Is it possible?? - Will HP ePrint talk to a local networked HP printer that is NOT ePrint enabled?

    Hello,
I'm looking for help with configuring HP ePrint Home and Bus (Android)
    System:
    Netgear WNDR3400 router
    Google Nexus 10 Tablet
Custom built PC- Windows XP Pro
HP Photosmart C5250 (connected to an IOGear USB Printserver)
Both my main desktop PC and my laptop can print to the HP Photosmart C5200 thru the USB print server, it is working fine.
    QUESTION:
How do I configure HP ePrint home and Bus on my Google tablet to print to my networked HP printer?
I cannot get the HP ePrint app to SEE my networked printer!
    Thanks,
    Unit_10
Please disregard any instructions for setting up WAN ePrinting.  Entirely unnecessary,

The printer must be on the network directly for the app to see it. Using a USB print server is likely where your issue is occuring. If you had a printer that supported wireless or ethernet, it would be seen via the app.

  • Troubles printing to a networked HP printer!

If you can see the networked HP printer but still nothing prints, or if you are thinking about buying an HP printer this weekend - you may be interested in the following HP link which lists the printers that can be successfully networked. I have been racking my brains for weeks to resolve this issue- could save you alot of time!

    OK, I'm back.
First, the good news.  We've consolidated the offices, and the 8500 in fact does work.
    But.
    The 8600 still doesn't.
    I have tried:
    Rebooting the router and computer.
Changing the filter multicast value on the router so the filter multicast is now on.
I re-set the connection to the network.
I installed the drivers from the CD that came with the printer.
Several of the folks who have moved to the new site are having trouble with this printer, so it isn't just me.
To reiterate:  I can see the printer.  I can see it via a web connection.  I can see it via the HP Utility.  I can get the supply levels readout.  I can print diagnostics page from the utility.  But print jobs fail.  A print job connects to the printer, I can see a "low on ink" notificication, the printing supposedly starts, but it hangs at 1% complete.
I think some of the new folks were having trouble printing from their windows machines, but I'll have to check tomorrow when everything settles down from the move.

  • Can I create a network for printing & music alone ?

I don't have DSL or any type of broadband - still using dial up.
If I buy an Airport Express can I configure it to wirelessly print and stream music or do I need a wireless network in the background to make this work ?

Can I create a network for printing & music alone ?
    Yes
If you also want internet access at the same time you will need to tweak things a bit.

  • Printing on a non-networked USB printer connected to a networked PC

I'm having trouble printing at work (very small organisation).
They have a Lexmark laser printer connected to a PC through the USB port. In windows, they checked the "share this printer on the network" option.
Both that PC and my Mac are connected to the network via Ethernet through a single router.
Any suggestions on how I can get access to this printer at work??
    Thanks for any help.
    Marc P.
Ps: I have a printer directly on a network at home and can print no problem through IP printing (Printer has an ethernet network connection). But the printer at work has no network connection on it.

    Hi
    On the Mac:
    - Open System Preferences, go to "Print and Fax".
    - Click on the "+" icon bottom left to add a new printer
    - On the next screen, click More Printers
    - Change the top list to "Windows Printing". Change the second list to the name of your Windows workgroup (you may have to first change it to "Network Neighborhood", and then select the correct workgroup).
    - Find the name of the sharing PC in the list, and double-click on it. It should prompt you for a login. Use your login from the PC.
    - You should then see and be able to connect to the shared printer.

  • PrintOpen crashing application when used after PrintSetPrinter for networked IPP print server

This is on Windows Server 2008 using PB 12.1 Build 7298.
I'm using PrintGetPrinters to get the printer name of the networked IPP print server that is setup on the machine and it comes back as:
I then use PrintSetPrinter with that name to change the printer, which works fine.
After calling PrintSetPrinter I call PrintOpen to open a print job, which then crashes the application with a gdi32.dll fault.
If I call PrintOpen( "testing", true ) it works fine, but PrintOpen() or PrintOpen( "testing", false ) crash the app.  This all works fine on a non networked printer on the server, which we've been using for years, but are now trying to switch to a print server.
Does anyone know why PrintOpen would be crashing when not showing the print dialog box?  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Eric Cole

    Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply.  It's not a catchable exception, already tried that.  It's one of those faults where you get the microsoft windows yourapplication.exe has stopped working popup and it puts an error in the system application events that you can view in the event viewer.  There isn't much info in the event to go off of either.
I did find another older forum post that seems to be the same issue but with PB 12.5.1 and where mine is crashing his just didn't print.  The thread is here: http://nntp-archive.sybase.com/nntp-archive/action/article/%[email protected]%3E
Since it's only an issue with PrintOpen I'm changing it to datawindow.Print instead, but I have to combine 2 datawindows in the same print job without a print dialog so I'm forced to come up with a workaround in order to accomplish that.  I'm going to hopefully create a composite datawindow with the 2 combined dws so I can get them in 1 print job.  It's just going to take longer than I thought because my datawindows have nested reports so I can't use GetChild to get a reference to them and they are being modified with .Modify.

  • Trying to network my Printer

    Hey
I just bought a new Printer (HP Photosmart C5580) and its hooked up directly to my Imac. I know want to have my Windows Vista computer be able to network and print directly from there to the new printer. I am hooked up through a wireless Verizon Fios router, so this should be able to happen, but I just can't figure out all the settings.
I was hoping somebody could help me out here
    1) What settings do i need to change on my MAC
    2) how do i set it up on my PC so I can print from them
    Hope someone can help
    thanks!

    See if this helps:

Alternatively, you can plug it into your Vista machine, and share it from Windows - it will then be easily added to your Mac.

The router is a Linksys WRTU54G-TM. The Ipad recognizes the printer and spools the print job but there is no action at the printer. E-Print works.

If your printer is on this list follow the manufacturers instructions.

Someone outside of my home network is printing through my wireless network. I have an HPb210e. How do Iadjust the printer settings to stop this?
    Thank you

Are you using the printer as a standalone device or is it associated with an wireless access point?
Follow the instructions on this document to change the security type to WPA if you have it set up using WEP. Change the network key as well.
WEP is the currrently weakest security type available. It is very easy for anyone who is so inclined,  to crack it and get your passphrase.

  • SMB and Network Scanner/Printer

    MacBook Pro -> 10.5.6
I just received back my MacBook Pro from Apple repair last week. I reinstalled from Time Machine and all is fine . . . except . . . file sharing to Windows.
We have a network scanner/printer on the network. I can print with no problems to the printer. I cannot get a scan sent to my computer from the printer/scanner. And yes this worked fine before.
    1. I have SMB enabled and entered in my password.
    2. I have repaired permissions
    3. Windows computers cannot see my computer. (I see the name however, I cannot access the folders.
    4. The scanner/printer which has worked fine till my repair at apple (new HD) is not working anymore. Says computer is not found.

Unless your problem is identical to one in an existing post, it's rarely appropriate to tack a post onto an existing thread. Also, as Apple doesn't officially monitor this discussion group, this isn't the best place to request anything from Apple. Unless this is what you meant by "submitted a feature request", you might have better luck posting here:

I have an all-in-one HP 3180 which i purchased from Apple with a new Mac. I recently connected it to my new 2TB time machine but now I cannot scan.
Please don't confuse "Time Machine" (backup software that's included with Mac OS X) with "Time Capsule" (an Apple Wi-Fi router with an integrated disk drive).
Is it too much to ask that HP & apple work together to create a solution to provide for scanning support over TC.
I don't know. Have you contacted HP technical support? Does either Apple or HP represent that they support what you're trying to do?
If it's possible to share the scanner when it's connected to a mac why not when it's connected to a TC.
Perhaps because a Mac has specific drivers for such a scanner, while a Time Capsule doesn't.
