Networking disconnects when downloading but otherwise idle.

Since my "Macbook Pro 15" 2.6Gh Core 2 Duo 4Gb"s  upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mavericks if I am downloading a large file or lots of files over night when I am not using the computer for other things it's wifi network connection drops out(the network panel shows all the settings and the icon on the menu bar shows full strength BUT! there is no network activity.   If I turn the wifi off and on then the network data starts flowing again.
Is this a Mavericks power saving thing or a bug or both?  Should I report it as a bug? (I think I might)

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

network disconnects and turns it self off when using youtube app on ipad air

    Hello paulm250m
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
Wi-Fi disconnects or signal strength is less than expected
Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).
Check for sources of potential interference.
Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories

  • CNS-9107 : Network disconnected when synchronize with PDA cradled

We are running into CNS-9107:Network disconnected during synchronization when we cradle the PDA. The problem only happens when the synchronization posts a sufficient amount of data, we saw the problem happened when the post content-length at 62K in my office, and 136K from my home, both are using the same mobile server, which is internet accessible.
We got err=10035 [WINCE: 10035] in the debug.txt after we turned on debug by adding DEBUG=1 in the polite.txt on the PDA.
Did anybody run into the same problem?
Could anybody shed some light on what err=10035 [WINCE: 10035] means?
    Our environment are:
    Server: Oracle Lite 10.2.0.2.0
PDA: Dell Axim X51v, Windows Mobile 5.0, our application is using Olite C# library to do the synchronization
    Activeync: 4.2
    Thanks in advance.
    dliu

I post our findings here, in case anybody else runs in the same problem.
Possible solution 1: We got some patch DLL(olaes.dll and omcapi.dll) for WM 5.0 from oracle support, it looks promising to solve our problem, hope they will make to the future Oracle Lite release or patch.
Possible solution 2: In fact, this solution can only be used as a workaround, rather than a solution. After we upgrade the ROM to A12 for my Dell Axim X51v, we noticed there is a new Icon called 'USB to PC' under the Connections settings. We uncheck the 'Enable advanced network functionality', which seems resolve our problem too.
    Hope this helps.

  • Strange noise when downloading (but in hardware)

Hi, this is the most paranoid question from me ever... so be patient please...
I have this problem, I've recently noticed that sometimes my macbook pro (2010 i7) is making strange noise (it is not hardrive, not fans), it is like the old TVs without any signal, or analog monitors long time in stanby mode (not all, but low end ones). It is close to this sound that I found on youtube, but this isn't my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOjgdx-aKsE
This strange sound I've got with downloading some files from internet, sound came from place where is MagSafe, but I don't think it is it, 'cause that is when is plugged in and olso plugged out (power cord). It is maybe one centimeter under MagSafe... But when I look at the picture of macbook pro dissassembled, Airport Express is close to it.
I don't know, if that sound will be with ethernet downloading, but over wifi it is. But the most strangest thing is, when I download some file (like podcast) in iTunes, wierd sound will make, also with downloading files with jDownloader... BUT not with downloading files with Safari (or Firefox) ... 64bit over 32 bit? Safari and jDownloader are 64bit, iTunes and Firefox I have 32 bit...
    Could you tell me why?
    Thanks for ANY response.
    Have a nice day

    hello,
same white noise from the speakers on my macbook. volume beeps fine but in between beeps i hear white noise.
    happens with youtube vids.
very intermittent. seems like a software issue to me.
reinstalled leopard, went away for a few days but it's back now.

  • IMac disconnects when downloading large files

The internet on my iMac is a wired connection, hooked up through my router. It works perfectly fine and never disconnects while I'm browsing, playing games, or anything like that. When I download small files, things are still fine. Whenever I download something that takes more than a few minutes, my connection will shut itself off like clockwork. It then takes a minute or two to kick back in and resume, but then after another few minutes it will disconnect itself again. It isn't my ISP, since my laptop (Windows 7) downloads fine on this same network. My iPhone and iPad also have no problem downloading large files on this network either. What could be causing this strange issue with my iMac?

  • My network disconnects when computer falls asleep???

I am working on Verizon Fios wireless network and my computer loses the network everytime the computer goes to sleep. The only time it works is when I do a full strt up. I have to switch over to to my airport express network after waking the computer.
Is there some kind of setting I can change to help this stuation?
    Thanks so much.

Same here on my iMac 2013 running Mavericks. As soon as display goes asleep, Airplay disconnects. Caffeine does not help.
Unchecking mirroring does not work either, leaving me with a screen resolution that's maybe fit for TV but unsuitable to work with when you want to carry on using your computer while music is playing on the Apple TV.
I start wondering if Apple is actually doing sufficient testing of their software. These are rather basic errors.

  • Network disconnects when uploading

This is a weird problem that started a few days ago. I'm using a WRT54G with 2 computers. Both of them are using a wireless usb network adapter. I've had this set up for almost a year now with no problems.
All of a sudden whenever I upload to the web, or move files between computers on the network, I get booted off. The connection to the router dies on both computers and comes back on after a minute or so.
I did a live chat with a tech and he suggested upgrading the firmware. I did and it didn't help.
It's very strange. If I do a bandwidth test, as soon as the upload part starts...the network connection dies immediately.
    Any ideas?

I had the same problem. Wi-fi will disconnect itself if I upload (or pull file) from a desktop computer with network adapter. So when I'm uploading files, not only my desktop computer, but other two laptops will get disconnected. The only hard-wired computer does not get disconnected. However, I can upload or pull file from my laptop which uses its built-in wi-fi network card.
I just upgraded the firmware for both router and network adapter, followed your instruction, and it did not solve my problem.
How do I force my wireless connection speed to 54 mbps?
    My router is WRT54GS.
    Network Adapter is WUSB54G

  • Networking error when downloading itunes 8

  • Airport Extreme Intermittent Network Interruption when Downloading Large Amounts of Data.

I've had an Airport Extreme Base Station for about 2.5 years and have had no problems until the last 6 months.  I have my iMac and a PC directly connected through ethernet and another PC connected wirelessly.  I occasionally need to download very large data files that max out my download connection speed at about 2.5Mbs.  During these downloads, my entire network loses connection to the internet intermittently for between 2 and 8 seconds with a separation between connection losses at around 20-30 seconds each.  This includes the hard wired machines.  I've tested a download with a direct connection to my cable modem without incident.  The base station is causing the problem.  I've attempted to reset the Base Station with good results after reset, but then the problem simply returns after a while.  I've updated the firmware to latest version with no change.
Can anyone help me with the cause of the connection loss and a method of preventing it?  THIS IS NOT A WIRELESS PROBLEM.  I believe it has to do with the massive amount of data being handled.  Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, did some more sniffing around and found this thread.

It seems that the AEBS has had a serious flaw for the last 6 years that Apple has been unable to address adequately.  Here is a portion of the log file.  It simply repeats the same log entries over and over.

  • Network disconnects when speed is changed to gigabit

For over a year this machine has been connecting to a network at gigabit speed with no problems. Over the past few weeks it started having problems staying connected. All mounted volumes would be disconnected then an error message would pop up saying they were unavailable. No other machine on the network would have any trouble staying connected.
In the process of working with it I switched the ethernet speed to 100 instead of 1000 in the network control panel. At this point I would see the link status change to active in the info tab of Network Utility. Change it back to 1000 in the control panel and the status would change back to inactive in the utility.
What can be causing this? No other machine is having trouble like this. Nothing has been changed hardware or cable wise anywhere. Server, switches, workstation have all been powered down and restarted. Once the speed was changed to 100 base all has been fine, except for the speed.
Any thoughts or insight would be appreciated.

  • Error message with network settings when downloading latest itunes

Trying to download latest itunes onto my iphone to update my apps, but keep getting this error message
    Network connection timed out
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active
What do I need to do, is this a settings thing? and what should it be

That usually means your security software is interfering, so disable ALL anti-virus, anti-malware & firewalls and try again.

  • Network disconnect when in sleep mode

    Hi all.
Since I've installed Mountain Lion, any time the computer goes into sleep mode, networking do the same: I cannot download files, when the computer wakeup I have to wait the reconnection before being able to use mail, safari or ather network stuff.
I did not find any option to set, telling the computer waht to do when in sleep mode.
WIth Lion and preceding OsX this was not an issue.
Is there anything I can do?
    Thanks.
    Federico.

    Hi,
Yes, clear "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the properties of network adapter\Power management as mentioned in the link provided by arnavsharma, and check if the issue persists.

  • Network Stalls When Downloading A File

    Hi everyone.
I have been experiencing this trouble:
Whenever I start downloading a file, the whole network stalls, I cannot browse websites, or download other files until the last one finishes.
I have a dual band network, with both G and N devices.
Hope someone could clarify this for me.

I have this same problem. Any download of any type from anywhere grinds everything else to a halt. Meaning I can't browse the internet or basically do anything else when a download is in progress.
My PC is on the same network connection with no problem. So I do not think it is my router. I think it is because the Mac Mini is leaving no overheads to do anything else and just maxes itself out using up everything available.
    Can anyone help me out?

  • Disconnected When Downloading Files

I have a WRT160N wireless router and WUSB54GC adapter and every time I try to download a file I get disconnected from my network almost immediately. Vista will then not detect my network until I restart my computer. All the drivers are up to date and i have good signal strength.

Try upgrading the adapter from drivers on website .... also check the adapter on different computer .... if it not working ...might be possible it is a bad unit ...
