Networking eMac and MacBook

Hi,
I have a eMac, MacBook, HP Printer *** Scanner *** Photocopier and a External Hard Drive and want to set up a network with Airport Extreme. The purpose being to be able to access my eMac HD from my MacBook and vice versa. Similarly I want to use the Pinter *** Scanner for both my eMac and MacBook and also use the external HDD for both my eMac and MacBook. I also am using wi-fi to connect to the net.
1. Is it possible to create a network?
2. If possible, how difficult is it?
3. What are the other software and hardware that is required to create this network?

1. Is it possible to create a network?
The AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) is a router so using an AEBS creates a network.
The USB port on the AEBS does NOT support scanning. The USB port supports printing and hard drives ONLY.
3. What are the other software and hardware that is required to create this network?
Connect a router like the AEBS. That is all you need.

Iphone and ipad can find network, iMac and macbook 10.8.2 cannot

Had a network fault. When fault was fixed, ipad/iphone & Dell studio xps laptop reconnected automatically. Imac 2012 and macbook 2010, 10.8.3, can see network but not connect automatically. Tried connecting to network and get message connection timeout has occurred.
Got connection by;
Open Network preferences
Join other network
enter network name select - Security wpa2 personal
enter network password
However - I need to do this after every sleep/reboot - is there a fix for this?
PS - I noted that I had previously been on WEP security setting and had real problems connecting to external devices consistently, such as epson wireless printer BX935FWD, and Western Digital My Book Live Duo. Since moving onto WPA2, these connection now work consistently, but macbook and imac always need to be forced to connect to network, in manner described above
Does anyone share a similar problem/managed to resolve network issues? - very frustrating.....must be an OSX issue as all other devices connect without issue.

I've managed to download 10.8.2 for my MBP Retina 13.3" but when I try and install I'm told that none of my discs are suitable i.e. Internal solid state drive with 370 GB available, or attached thunderbolt drive. Meanwhile my iPhoto won't work. This has arisen because I migrated from an older MBP which was already running 10.8.2 and had latest iPhoto onto a factory fresh 10.8.1 machine.

CAN'T NETWORK eMac and G4 Mirrored Tower

Hello,
I have a 700mz G4 eMac and a 1.5g G4 Tower, and am trying to network them.
I have a Linksys Ethernet Cable/DSL Router BEFSR41 (not wireless).
Once I restart the computers using the M.R.S. order, they can then both get on line.
Once they are online, the G4 Tower can see the eMac, but when you click on connect ... it says that it can't find the server.
The eMac (when I click on network) can't even see the G4 Tower at all. I do not know where to go from here.
They both apparently can get on the Internet after doing one restart for some reason, but they can't share any files at this point.
Personal file sharing is on, and Apple talk is on. Ethernet is also selected on both.
Any help would be appreciated!

Hey, thanks for that bit of information ...
However, part of my problem resided in the fact, that I had a ethernet cord that was going bad, and one of my computers named wrong. I simply renamed the short name, got a new ethernet cable, and wah-lah!!

Networking IMac and MacBook Pro

I'm having problems connecting my MacBook Pro with my iMac. The iMac can see and communicate with the MBP but not the other way around. If I try to connect to the iMac I get a message saying that "The server “iMac” is available on your computer. Access the volumes and files locally." If I try and view the iMac screen remotely I get a recursive view of the MBP screen.
This happened under Leopard, the problem disappeared under Snow Leopard but has now resurfaced. I have remote management and file sharing set up on both machines.
I'd really appreciate a solution.

I tried your solution, but it still doesn't work. I was having intermittent problems as well... the shared folder was there sometimes, not other times. Then it seemed that only certain enclosed items were not being shared. Now I can't see it at all...
Any other suggestions?

Connecting old eMac, 360, Wii, PS3, DS, PSP, and Macbook

The eMac and Xbox 360 will be hard wired. The others will (hopefully) be wireless.
None of them support 802.11n, and both macs are running OS X 10.4.11.
My question is, will TC function as a normal old router for all this gear, AND will the eMac and Macbook be able to store data (itunes, photos, etc.) (in the macbook's case, wirelessly) even though they don't have Leopard installed.
I want an external hard drive and I need a new router. Time Capsule is both, but I need it to function with all this gear.

You will have to have a WEP password as the DS can have WPA.

When I try to use FaceTime on my Macbook Air, I try to verify the email I want people to call me with, and it says verified, but soon an message comes up that says "Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again."

So our school lets us use Macbook Airs for the school year, and it has facetime on it. I know facetime isn't blocked because like everyone else is using it. So I decide to give it a try. I click the icon, it says enter your apple ID. I dont have one, so I click to make one, and do so. I then enter my apple ID and click next. The screen reads "People will call you using your email address. What email address would you like to use?" I enter my email address in the box below the message, and then go to my email and click the link, and sign in, thus verifying the email. I go back to the facetime window, and click next. At the top it says Verified, but when I click next it doesn't go on to the next step, it simply blacks out the next button so that I can not click it, and after a few minutes a message comes up that says "Could not verify the email address. Please check your network connection and try again."
So that is the issue, please help!!!!!
*Note-I repeat that I know it is not blocked by the school because everyone else uses it just fine.*

Since you are using one of the the school's Macbooks, it is quite possible that the time and date are not properly set on the computer that you are using. FaceTime will not work if you do not have the proper time zone set up for the location that you are in. This past week, there were a two other Macbook users I've helped by simply telling them to set the Date/Time properly. By the way, you described your problem very well, which makes it easier for us to help you. Hope this solves your problem -- if not, post back and I can suggest other remedies.

I am currently receiving this error message when trying to log in to iMessage on my MacBook Pro (Mavericks), "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again."
I have never had an issue until the past few days as I have been setting up my new iPhone 5s. I used to have an iPhone 4.
When I go to the 'Messages' App., Preferences> Accounts> the iMessage account is set as "(Inactive)".
My Apple ID appears to be working fine in iCloud, the App. Store etc.

Problems browsing on home network on my macbook pro and Air

I own a home network and unfortunately, we are having problems browsing using Safari or Firefox on the Macbook Pro and Macbook Air. The notebooks are able to connect well and also receive emails, but its only the browsing that cannot be done.
We also have a windows based laptop which works perfectly well.
My Iphone works well too !
Can someone assist.

Go into your System Preferences > Network Advanced>TC/IP and turn off IPv6

I have an AirPort Express, iPhone 5, and MacBook (late 2010). How do I see the graphical overview of my network? (I can't seem to find a way to see it).
My computer is acting....well, strange. I can't put my finger on it but it doesn't seem right. Menus look skewed. Some applications look like they're trying to disguise themselves as apple (no consistant window formats). Airplay turns on and off on my devices on it's own. And some locked system preference seem to unlock themselves, or won't even grey-out after I lock them.
I have changed my password many times but the issue keeps coming back. I feel like I'm going crazy - but I know that something just isn't right...maybe someone's been hacking me? (I have no idea why...)
Anyway, maybe I could have stemmed from an improper setup of my wireless network.
Any thoughts?
Also, right now, when I just signed into apple communities....
     I have an iCloud email address that is accociated with my 1 and ONLY Apple ID...
     It seems to have been working but...
     When I loged in here it only saw my:
                              OLD MacBookPro
                              3 Old iPods
                              My new MacMini with OS X Sever (Server is currently turned off)
     Could my Apple ID be confusing my MacBook (which I'm currently using) as an old iPod or my old MacBookPro?
     I doesn't even see my iPad (1st generation), or my iPhone 5
     Also, the Mac App store is giving me the option to download Mountain Lion??? I already have version 10.8.3...
Can anyone perform an analysis on my account and computer? I have been to the Apple Store 6 seperate time and the problem was not resolved (after 6 COMPLETE hard drive wipes).

i guess you could put the aiport utility app on your iphone, click on the aiport express there, it will show you how many devices are connected to it and the mac addresses of those devices.

appears that apple has changed SMB code, and now its not possible login from windows on mac.
i installed snow leopard and now works fine.
apple is capable to make it run paying new license of smb code, but isnted of this, apple has created new protocol smbx and now, all others need to adapt your code to apple..
bad movement.. i am thinking sell imac and no back to apple anymore..

Can't run both PBG4 and Macbook on same TC network

I am trying to connect both a pbg4 and macbook core duo to my network using newly purchased time capsule. I first used Airport Utility from macbook hard wired via ethernet and set up the network. I have an AsDsl network with an old Westell Modem that always works in bridge mode and connects to my ISP via PPPoE. I used to use an US Robotics 8054 wireless router into whose WAN port I would plug in the modem.
I set up the TC as the main router, enabling my password at my ISP. Everything worked like a charm with the Macbook. When I tried to connect the PBG4, no luck. No matter what I did the PBG4 couldn't get the TC.
So I attached the US robotics to the one of the TC LAN ports. Using my old network, the pbg4 can access the TC and the internet. The macbook cannot access the TC at all.
I think this might be a DHCP problem. I think my set up doesn't allow more than one computer to be on the web. Also, something about the US robotics network makes the TC network invalid.
Any thoughts?

if you have two hard drives the easiest might be to install panther on the second hard drive. this way you don't have top partition anything. make sure the drive is properly formatted it should be formatted mac os extended journaled with APM partition scheme. then just boot from the Panther install disk and install panther on the second drive. note that this will only work if your mac originally came with panther. did it?
to switch between installs you can change the startup disk in system preferences->startup disk. then reboot. alternatively, reboot normally and hold option at the chime. this will boot you into startup disk manager where you can choose which drive to boot from.

Troubleshoot the network as that is likely what is causing the issue.
Also, temporarily disable the firewall on the Mac and disable IPV6 on the computer.

WinXP, iMac and MacBook network

Hello.
I am making home network between iMac, macbook (OS X 10.5) and WinXP(pro) PC.
PC is wired to router.
iMac and MacBook are connected to the same router via Air-Port.
So the problem is: iMac can browse files on PC, macs can browse files in each others folders, PC can browse files on iMac.
But I can't make macbook and PC to connect to each other. But they cam ping-pong by their IPs.
I googled a lot and read that forum but couldn't find any suggestions.

There is some additional info.
iMac and MacBook can use printer connected to the PC.
Also i can connect to MacBook through SSH: macbookuser@macbookip. That is rather strange.
