  • My i-pod 3-generation touch won't connect to the internet but the network information is active on it

I connected the i-pod to my wireless internet but the i-pod keeps saying it is not connected.

What do you mean by "the network information is active"?
Do other devices successfully connect to that network?
Does the iPod successfully connect to othr networks?

  • Received this from verizon "Important Privacy Notice: Customer Proprietary Network Information "

got this e mailes to me today from verizon:    Important Privacy Notice: Customer Proprietary Network Information
any of u get this also?

Thanks Calmitdown42, for the information, as what you posted is correct. I would like to add to that and provide some additional information for Adamant.
CPNI (Customer Proprietary Network Information) is information about the quantity, technical configuration, type, destination, location, and amount of use of telecommunications services a customer has purchased from Verizon Wireless and its affiliates, including local and toll information on bills.
    Examples include:
Number of voice and data lines activated
    Type of calling plans selected
    Discount tiers
    ARPU (Average Revenue Per User)
    Call detail information
Note: While your account number / mobile telephone number(s) are not classified as CPNI, this information is diligently protected in verbal, written, and electronic form. Please know that your account security is very important at Verizon Wireless. It has not, and will not, be provided to anyone if you do not opt out of the CPNI information.
I hope this information is helpful and have a good day!

  • How to add network information for failover zones with logical hostname?

    Hello!
As stated in [http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-3069/ds_template-21?a=view] I must not configure network addresses for a zone when I manage these with a logical hostname:
If you require the SUNW.LogicalHostName resource type to manage all the zone's addresses, configure a SUNW.LogicalHostName resource with a list of the zone`s addresses and do not configure them by using the zonecfg utility. But when I start the zone for the first time using "zlogin -C" it does not ask me any questions about the network. Of course, there is no adapter configured. But how do I add information like routes or nameservers to the system when using a logical hostname?
    TIA
    Stephan

    Hi Stephan,
I can only assume that when the zone was configured via zonecfg without any network interfaces that sysidcfg did not ask you for the default route or name service, as such you will need to setup those parts up manually.
Please take a look at the FAQs for zones, i.e. http://opensolaris.org/os/community/zones/faq/ in particular
    http://opensolaris.org/os/community/zones/faq/#u5
    http://opensolaris.org/os/community/zones/faq/#cfg_defroute
Finally, if you require a NIS client then please see http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/816-5166/ypinit-1m?a=view

  • Losing (closed) wifi network informations after suspend/resume.

I get some trouble with MacOS X airport support and suspend/resume on my WIFI network (non airport access point based : I have a linksys wifi/modem/router).
For security reason my network is closed (no ESSID diffusion). Each time my computer (MacBookPro3,1 - Mac OS X 10.5.1 up-to-date) resume from suspend I am no more connected, and worse the system do not use anymore the information I registered in the network settings apps (ESSID, WEP key) : the network is no more visible, and even if the network is remembered in the list of previously visited network, I am forced to retype everything (ESSID, WEP key) to be able to be connected again.
When I change my network setup to get an open one (with ESSID diffusion) then it works : I can suspend the computer, resume it an I am connected again without doing anything.
This is very annoying, since I am not the main user of the computer (main one do not understand anything about network settings) and that I need my network to be closed (no ESSID diffusion).
With other 4 others different computers (PowerBook Titanium using Max OS X 10.4 / PowerBook Aluminium using Mac OS X 10.3 or 10.4 / MacBookPro using Linux / Dell Latitude using Linux) everything work as expected.
Any ideas where I can find information on how to fix this (stupid) behavior ?
BTW, I tested the following with my base configured for 802.11b, 802.11g and automatic detection.

I am not offering a fix other than to say don't use a closed network.
I asy this because having a closed network does not offer any network security. A hacker can easily see your network using tools that anyone can download from the internet. Having a closed network can interfere with the efficiency of all wifi network in your area. As your neighbours may be unaware of your network and start broadcasting on the same channel as you. Then you would both have issues.
WEP encrypton offers no real security either as this too can be cracked sometimes in minutes using tools that anyone can download from the internet.
The only network security you should consider using is WPA/WPA2.

  • Programming and Network Information Needs for my Wireless Network

I am looking for a solution to two objectives for my router (currently the airport extreme within my time capsule):
    1. Is there software that, in plan english, will give me a list of the computers and devices that are on using my router and that will provide me with a list of websites visited? Most of what I can find is highly technical in the information.
    2. I'd like to simply shut down the wireless from time to time in our house and currently the only approach I can think of is to unplug the ethernet cable that connects the time capsule to my cable modem. Is there a software program that provides a simple on/off button or, even better, that can shut the thing off for preprogramed periods of time? Freedom is a great program for individual computers in this way, and I am looking for something that works for the entire router.
    Thanks!

Gibson123, Welcome to the discussion area!
You really need to get a router which has these capabilities instead of using the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS).

  • Retrieving GSM network information via J2ME

I would like to make a J2ME MIDlet that can get the current cell-id that the ME is in. I know that there is a proactive SIM command PROVIDE LOCAL INFORMATION specified in TS 11.14 par 6.4.15, but I don't know how to send such a command. I don't want to use Java Card because I want to avoid the hassle of card writing.
    I would appreciate any help.
PS: Is there no dedicated forum here for J2ME? I couldn't find a better place to post this.

I have exactly the same problem, but I'm afraid there is no way to get cell-id from j2me, the only approximation is using messaging APIs to retrieve a meaninful multicell message...
please let me know if u find a better way.

  • How to Opt-out CPNI (Customer Proprietary Network Information or CPNI)

I have tried the phone but could not wait any longer for an available agent after about half an hour (18888258111). The community forum search results show the location Verizon website (My Profile tab under My Verizon -> Phone Control ) but it seemed the website layout has changed since because I could not see the "phone control" section on the my profile page. My ultimate goal is to avoid any of my information gets onto the 3rd party companies' hands which will then be used to harass me and my family through the telemarketing phone calls during dinner time.
    Please assist.
    Reference:
    http://www22.verizon.com/about/privacy/
    http://www22.verizon.com/about/privacy/cpni/

As a user TNS_2 noted, the number you listed (18888258111) is NOT in the CPNI-OptOut state list--see: http://www22.verizon.com/about/privacy/cpnitelecom/#phonelist --so you need to double check the number(s) listed for your state.
Even if you do successfully opt out of the CPNI, my guess is that you will still continue to receive telemarketing calls because it's time consuming and annoying to get off their call lists--you have to do all the work. The Federal DoNotCall registry (888-382-1222 or https://www.donotcall.gov/ ) is useless--my number is registered with donotcall and I still get tons of telemarketing calls.
    Your options are:
    1. When a telemarketer calls you, answer the call and tell them to REMOVE YOUR NUMBER from their calling database.
    2. Don't answer the phone--this is somewhat easier if you have Caller-ID. 99.9999% of telemarketers don't leave a phone message so just let it ring until your answering machine or voice mail picks up--if no message is left, it's not important...'-}}
    3. Buy a call blocker. This one is well rated--a bit pricey ~$100:
    http://www.amazon.com/electronics/dp/B009RVYEZ0
To opt out of Verizon marketing emails:
    1. Log in to your Verizon account
    2. Once you've successfully logged in and if it is not already selected, click on "My Verizon"
    3. On the left side of the screen you should see a number of different options/selections ("Home", "My Services", "Bill & Payment", etc.). Click on the "Profile" option.
    4. You should then see--middle of the screen--a series of sections ("Account Settings", "Manage Sub Accounts", etc.). Click on the "Manage" button in the "Email Preference Center" and if you look down towards the bottom, you should see "Opt Out of All Marketing Emails". Click on box in the "Primary" (and "Secondary" if you have one) columns and then click on the "Save" button.
    Hope that helps...

  • Making sense of WiFi network information - HH3

Over the last couple of months I have noticed a drop off (percieved) in WiFi performance.  This is across a range of devices and locations inb the house.  I have reset the wireless unit a few times with little or no change.
Today, I searched the forum for a few hints and as such downloaded inSSider and then spent a few hours changing through the different channels, noting the readings.  In all cases the signal showed at between -42 and -45, while the link figure on all channels apart from 1, 6 & 11, ranged between 28 and 39.
Channel 1 gave a best link of 60, while C6 gave 68 and C11, 71.  Currently I am set at C11.  Now to my semi ignorant eyes, these figures do not look very good, especially when reading others findings, however I have nothing to really go on.  Can anyone give advice as to what is 'ideal' and apart from all the usual things like thinking of router location etc, is there anything else I can do to improve things.  Is it that my HH3 is failing?
Answers not on a postcard please

    Hi Dave,
The router is located in my conservatory, on my home office workstation, which is against the dividing wall between lounge and conservatory.
Apart from my PC, there is no other equipment nearby.  Technically you question wether the dividing wall is causing a problem as it is a double skin outside wall, however the location of my workstation and therefore HH3 is against one half of a pair of french doors, that open up into the lounge.

  • Network Load Balancing - "access denied" when loading configuration information from host2

We have 2 Windows 2012 R2 servers, both are running on workgroup.
We set up NLB cluster.  When we open NLB Manager on the server2, then message shows "loading configuration information. Access denied. Error connecting to server1".
There is no issue doing this on server1, NLB Manager is able to connect to both servers. We login using default administrator account, both account name and password are the same for 2 servers.
When we check security event log on server1, there is this strange Audit Failure log using account "test_nlb" from server2 which related to "Access denied" error. Please let us know how to resolve this. Thanks in advance.

        - Key length indicates the length of the generated session key. This will be 0 if no session key was requested.

    Hi Zhong Gang,
When you are using Network Load Balancing (NLB) Manager, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the host that you are configuring, or you must have been delegated
the appropriate authority. If you are configuring a cluster or host by running NLB Manager from a computer that is not part of the cluster, you do not have to be a member of the Administrators group on that computer. Please disable your nodes firewall and
    try again.

  • Network connection problems, please help!

I have had an iPod Touch (4th generation) for over a year now and it worked fine. Today, something went wrong with my network connection. One moment it says that I'm connected to a network, and a few seconds later it says I'm not connected... Then a few seconds later it's connected again. I have full wifi bars, and it does it throughout my whole house. The wifi symbol keeps going on and off. I tried turning my Verizon Westell Model 6100G Modem off and back on because this normally fixes my wifi connection problems. This didn't work. Then I tried turning my iPod off and back on. This didn't work. I tried turning the wifi off and back on. This didn't work. I tried forgetting my network and signing back in. This didn't work. I also tried resetting the network, and this didn't work either. I'm not having any connection problems with my laptop, it's working fine. It's only my iPod. I'm still able to use the wifi, but for a split second, it will not work. I'm not sure what else to do. It's very annoying! I'm going to see if it does this at other peoples houses with their wifi. Can any one tell me what's wrong and how I should fix it? My only theory is a broken antenna...Please help! Thanks!

I have two things you could try.
    1. Plug your iPod into the host computer that which the network is based around because sometimes the network has trouble identifying a device if it has been a while since you plugged it into the computer.
    2. Find some way to get your network information (IP address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS numbers) from another device on the network (e.g. laptop). Then go to Settings > Wi-FI and find your router and tap the blue arrow to the right of the name and tap the tab that says "Static" and enter this information accordingly. Then exit back to the network names menu and re-enter your passcode for your network (assuming you have a passcode)

  • HT4972 My phone is not responding since I downloaded the IOS update 7, I am locked out of using my iPhone, I enter my 4 digit number and a screen appears saying Joining "Sherry's Wi-Fi Network" but nothing else is happening and I can't use me phone.

An update from Apple appeared on my iPhone so I downloaded it, it was an IOS update.  The screen said to swipe to open, then enter a 4 digit number, which I did then it went to a screen asking for my network info which I entered (except I guessed at the security as being "WPA2", I have not idea, I entered my password and now the only screen that will appear is one stating it is Joining my stated Network??? but nothing is happening and I can't use any of my iPhone features at all?  Help

Go back to the previous page.  If there's no available wireless networks listed except "Other" which is manually putting the wireless network information, see if you have "activate using cellular" or "connect to iTunes" option.

  • Cannot access networking settings in browser

Well, it is now December 8th, and no one has been able to tell me why I cannot access my printer's Networking information from its web page (in my case, the URL is http://192.168.2.123).  I receive the following message:
The server 192.168.2.123:80 at HP Printer Networking@ requires a username and password.
Below that are two fields, one for a username, the other for a password.
I have tried the usual variety of username/password combinations with no success.  What's going on here?  Why am I being asked for a username and password when I never set them up to begin with?  Why is HP silent about this?  I asked about this way back in April.  I really need an answer.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
    Username        admin
    Password         just leave this blank
    Username        root
    Password         just leave this blank
If this doesn't work try Admin for the username and again just leave the password blank.
    Hope this helps.
