Networking OS9.2.2 G3 imac with OS10.4.6 G5
We had a power failure here today and both my imacs went down, the routers and everything. All appears to be fine with no data loss.
I have the two imacs connected via LAN router and have had no trouble logging onto each computer from the other but am now not able to see the G5 from the G3.
I open the chooser, choose appletalk and there is no server listed. Any idea what has happenned?
I have unplugged the whole system rigamarole and restarted both computers and cleaned up the desktop on the G3, and logged into the G3 from the G5 ... but even when the G3 is on the desktop of the G5 the G3 still does not list the G5 in the available servers.

I have tried that with no success. Since the OS 10 side of this equation seems to be working I have posted my troubles with the OS9 computer on that forum. Thanks for your help.

We have an imac with os10.6.8 and safari 5.1.10 we have been getting messages that some site no longer support 5.1.10. Upgrading from 10.6.8 to a newer OS has implications for many Mac owners. Lion (10.7) ended support for software that was originally written for older Macs that used Motorola processors. Owners who kept their software current had few issues upgrading to Lion when it was released but a lot of people suddenly found they had software that wouldn’t run any longer.
Another thing to consider is the age of your computer. A 2007 or 2008 iMac can run Lion fine and even Mt Lion (10.8) but Mavericks is a reach. It was Mavericks that prompted my purchase of a new iMac in late 2012. Given that you say your iMac is pushing 8 and you don’t want to replace it yet, don’t consider upgrading beyond Mt Lion. You won’t find Lion or Mt Lion for sale at the App store but I believe that you can still purchase them by contacting Apple directly. -

Having problems using the Migration assistant on a new imac with OS10.9.2 to transfer files from an old imac with OS 10.6.8.
The Migration Assistant can transfer files from a computer running Mac OS X 10.1 or newer, but shouldn't be used to migrate applications from a PowerPC Mac to an Intel Mac.

Error: unknown error (-42408) upon opening itunes 10.7 on imac with OS10.6.8
I get the error below when I open itunes 10.7 on my imac running os10.6.8. This started happening when I upgraded to itunes 11 but did not like the interface. I restored the previous version from Time Machine. Then started getting this error.
issue resolved for the moment. Although the new version of iTunes was not starting on it's own with the iMac. It did start up once I conected my iPhone to the computer...

IMac with OS10.9, how do I remove an old apple ID and password?
I am using a iMac with OS X 10.9.5, 2.4 Ghz intel Core Duo, 4Gb 667 Mhz DDr2 SDRAM. I have an old User ID and password that pops up when I am trying to update iPhoto. requesting the password for the old username (E-mail address) but does not recognize the password. I would like to remove the old ID and Password but I do not know how?????? can any one help ME?

I have an older imac with OSX 10.4.11. Will it transfer images from newer digital cameras on to my computer via my iphoto program when the camera box states that the required mac OS is 10.5 or above or is that only if you wish to load the camera manufacturers own image processing program?

That is because that Firefox 3.6.x version has been released later than the Firefox 4 version.
If you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install

Hi. I have a MacBook Pro with OS10.6.8 and cannot get internet pages to load on my WiFi network at home. My iMac, iPhone and iPad all work on this network. It is connected to the net as dropbox registers a connection and so does skype. I can connect to the WiFi in work and on other networks when travelling. However, some other networks are now starting to fail. Can anyone suggets how I can fix it, as the MBP appears to be fine, its updated with all the latest versions of software and the WiFi network is also fine....just not with my MBP??

I have an imac running OS10.6.8 and an Apple laserwriter 16/600PS. Is it possible to connect these directly without networking? Where can I find the printer driver?
It turned out that WD is the big bad guy in this game.
According the data rescue company where I asked for an inspection, both of the drives had their reader head loose. And in the one, which was my already-in-use disk its even damaged the platters... xxxxx
So its time to pay bunch of money to recover, and take a walk to wd service to bang on the desk.
Also note - it may be somehow related to intellispeed technology - since macs not really friendly with wd-s built-in solutions.
On the other hand, with WD GP 1Tb there is no problems at all for ages.

My iMac with Leopard does not see Vista PCs on the network
My iMac with Leopard cannot see any of my Vista PCs on my network. I have an older G5 iMac (tiger) and the Leopard system see that one just fine. My older G5 sees my Leopard mac and all of the Vista computers. I just want the Leopard mac to see the Vista computers. Please help.
I'm having the same problem. It was literally working one minute and not the next. I also had this issue with my MBP but it was never resolved. I can ping the vista machine but not connect to the folder structure. This is really annoying because my vista machine is acting as a server and I need to remote desktop from the iMac to the windows machine.

It sounds really unlikely though... You have to type in your password twice when setting up so you either:
made the same typo twice
the caps lock was on
You held down SHIFT during one of the letters
the keys have relocated because of different language keyboard layout
you simply forgot exactly what you typed.
Are you aware that passwords are case-sensetive? also, when using punctuation in passwords be aware that language localization of the keyboard can cause relocation of certain symbols like $ and € and * and ' which may make it impossible to retype the password correctly, if you are unaware of the correct way to type a certain puntuation symbol. -
I cannot get my iMac with built-in airport wi-fi to allow internet connections to Nook and PS3. The devices access the network, but internet connection fails. Internet sharing is enabled, network security (WEP, WPA) is disabled. What to check next?
On an additional note, I've purchased a wireless router and everything connected on the first attempt. It just vexes me that the built-in wireless isn't working as a router. Is this another example of "Mac only plays with Mac"?
