Netwrok Settings

Hi
Every time I boot my PC the BT desktop help opens a web page saying network settings have changed and is asking to click next to reboot now and complete setup or press cancel.
I have tried clicking next a couple of time to compete the step but I am still stuck in this loop, I have not changed any of the router settings via IP address so am not even sure what the change could have been. We have a home network that is shared by other devices via windows network sharing centre - all of which are still able to use the network without problems and internet connection also seems unaffected.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Ismayil

Your best bet is probably to uninstall Desktop Help. In many cases it is just Desktop Hinderence, and I think this may be one of them.
Connection helpers used to be a valuable extra a decade ago, but modern Windows systems tend to manage it much better than the so called 'helpers'.

Dear all please help me ....

    Hi
Been using my iPad3 with Reliance in Mumbai for nearly 3 months now. It works great other than the problem with the whole "request handset config" mess.
The ONLY way to resolve is (in my expereince) is to hit cancel as soon as u see it. It will ALWAYS come on when you reboot ipad or "Reset Network Setting". Other than that, it may pop up now or then randomly. If you are luck y enough to spot it when it comes on randomly, hit CANCEL again and things will continue to work fine.
If you missed it, it will go the Sim failure and invalid sim.
In which case you go to settings and "Reset Netwrok Settings", once it reboots and requests handset etc, hit cancel and go on using. Its inconveniant, but if you learn to live with it, it works awesome!
But i rescently got Airtel, they are pretty good too, no such glitches and it supports personal hotspot also on the iPad3 (Reliance does not).
    Hope this helps!

  • I cannot get my Macbook Pro retina to connect to my BT Home hub.

    Hi,
I cannot get my Macbook Pro Retina to connect to my BT homehub either wirelessly or through ethernet using the thunderbolt adaptor.  I know that this is a problem with my IP address as in Network Settings it tells me that
'Thunderbolt Ethernet has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect to the Internet.'
I know that my internet connection is fine as I can plug the ethernet cable back into my PC and it works fine.  Also, my phone and ipad connect wirelessly just fine.
Bt have told me to contact Apple, but I can't get hold of Apple till tomorrow.
Amyone know how to overcome this?
I did also find my IP address and enter it manually, at which point netwrok settings showed my ethernet connection as green and connected, but it still wasn't working.
    Thanks

Same for wifi.  I have put in my IP address manually for the wifi network and it has gone green and connects to the hub, but gives me an exclamation mark on the wifi bar and still doesnt connect to the internet.
I am writing this whilst connected to the internet on the same laptop but connected to BTFON which is a really slow public network I have access to as a BT customer.

  • No wifi discovery w/ my 3G

iPhone 3G w/ 2.0.2 software, itunes 8, OS 10.5.4, airport extreme wifi w/ SSID name viewable and WPA2 security
I've upgraded from old iPhone to iPhone 3G and after iTunes sync the new iPhone won't show available wifi networks like my home network.
    I have:
-manually entered my SSID name & password into my iPhone - iPhone says cannot find network...
-I have reset network settings on iPhone
    -performed an iPhone restore
-went to other places where wifi hot spots are present - but iPhone is not discovering and displaying the available networks
My iPhone does have a WiFi address in the iPhone netwrok settings
    Can someone please help?
    THANKS!

Pop wifi off, then back on again. See if that helps.
    Just use the wifi slider.
Go in and make sure Ask to Join is on.
Delete your wifi that is giving you problems and start over. Let it find your wifi first, and then all you have to enter is the wifi password. Make sure you type that right (case sensitive etc).

  • Iphone 5 activation

I am trying to activate the new iphone 5 but i  am getting the error message that the phone  cannot be activated because the activation server cannot be reached?

I am having the same problem, my phone worked for about 5 days. Wouldn't connect via wifi yesterday 22/01/13, then today stopped connecting through 3g as well, tried aeroplane mode, then reset netwrok settings, then tried full restore and now I cannot do anything as I get the same error as you.
Thinking about returning it and getting an older Iphone until the kinks have been worked out and my network gets 4g.

  • N80 HANGUP Problem

I am using one N80 which is hanging sometimes. i am using this phone in dual band utms/gsm for 3G/2.5G network. It hangs regularly while sending sms or calling time. Is there any solution for that problem?
    Thanks
    Shamim

It's an issue with the phone's software. It happens when the phone has switched automatically between GSM & 3G. I believe this was resolved in a firmware update, so that should be your first port of call.
If there is no firmware update available, I would suggest changing the Netwrok settings from "Automatic" to "GSM" and see how that goes.
If I have helped you, please hit the star at the bottom of my posts - it's appreciated!
Don't forget if your problem is solved to press the "Accept as Solution" button.

  • Activation Unsuccessful and waiting (iMessage and FaceTime) on an iPhone 4s.

My iPhone 4s is fully up to date. I have had it around 6 months and generally has been good.
Unfortunately today I could not send a picture through iMessage (I was at home using the wifi at the time), so i proceded to turn it off and back on again. This then lead to me looking at iMessage and it would not turn on.
Firstly it said Activation unsccessful and after turning it on and off it now says that it is waiting. I have restored all netwrok settings and done various other things suggested such as checking my number is correct and the time zone is set automatically.
After all this I still had no use, so I looked at my facetime, turned it on and off, and now I have lost that too. I can send SMS's and recieve them. I can also recieve calls, but I have now got no iMessege and FaceTime which is very annoying.
If anyone has an further ideas of what to try, I'd be most greatful.

Hi you guys, four days ago my FT and iMessage worked well on my iPhone 5 IOS6.1.3,but my phone Number did not in the caller ID loop,so I turned both of them off, when I wanted to turn it on again, but failed,I tried so many times, but make no difference,It shows me"waiting for activation".Then I found the solution on internet, and you know there are many possible solutions, just like:
1.change the wifi DNS to 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4.and you must turn your cellular ON.
2.restore the phone setting.Settings>>General>>reset>>all the phone setting.
3.restore the network setting.Setting>>General>>reset>>the network setting.
    3.reset the network.
    4.reset your Date&time.Setting>>Date&Time>>set automaticlly>>ON.
    5.change another network to activate.
6.take out the sim card to activate.
    I did everything,but nothing happend,it still"waiting for activation"
And today afternoon,i try to activate again, when i turn iMessage on,it activate successfully.OMG,it is really amazing.and the same to my Facetime.
I am so exciting and strange how it happen...
I followed all the setting above 1.2.3.4.5.6,the only difference is i turned the "enable 3G" OFF(Settings>>General>>Cellular Data>>Enable 3G>>OFF),but it keep ON before now.
seriously,i am not sure if the "enable 3G"causes this problem, but it really happened to me,so you guys can try if you have the same problem,
hope my answer if helpful for you.

hi, My iphone 4s suddenly could not search for carrier network. i tried to restore netwrok settings, restored complete mobile, changed network provider but nothing worked. Anyone with same experience advise whether it can sorted or not??

My fiancé started experiencing the same problem yesterday. I was able to solve her issue by creating a forwarding rule within her icloud prefrences.
    Log into: www.icloud.com
    Click the mail icon
Click the cog wheel in the upper right hand corner of the tool bar
    Select "Rules..."
    Click "Add a Rule..."
Select and fill in the following information so that the rule says:
"If a message 'is addressed to' [email protected] Then 'Forward to' [email protected]"
Click done. (Obviously, type your actual email addresses in the address bars.)
Unfortunately, you won't receive any email that was sent prior to creating this rule, but you should receive all new email.

  • I have an Ipad 4 and its been working fine up until the last week, and now it is very unreliable connecting to the internet and loading pages. It connects to the Wifi network without any problems, all my other devices have no problems at all. Any help?

I have reset netwrok settings, ip addresses are all fine, restarted my router, but I may be missing something. Anyone else having similar problems?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • IMessage & FaceTime waiting for activation (no phone number, only email is showing)

I had a new SIM card from work so tried it out in my iPhone, and then returend back my orginal persoanl SIM card. Since then, iMessage and Facetime is stuck waiting for activation, and trying to verify my wrong number (the SIM I removed). email (Apple ID) is working on both, but strangly it was stuch for days trying to verfiy the wrong SIM (phone number) I had already removed, not the SIM inserted in my iPhone. I tried everything:
    - Eject and insert SIM card.
    - Turn iMassage OFF and ON again
    - Turn Facetime OFF and ON again (then kept it OFF till i reslove iMessage)
    - Updated my Apple ID account and in APP STORE to have my correct phone number.
    - REST all settings
    - REST all Content & Settings
    - REST Netwrok Settings
Now, after a Factory REST through iTunes, my wrong number had been finally removed. However, my correct number is not showing up at all in iMessage or Facetime, stuck waiting for activation (only email works in both)
Any one out there with a fix? please?

Have you tried all of the following:
If you still can't send or receive iMessages
To send and receive iMessages, your device must have a valid cellular or Wi-Fi data connection.
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    iOS: Troubleshooting cellular data
Ensure that iMessage is turned on in Settings > Messages.
iMessage registration validates your Apple ID for use with iMessage. If you are unable to activate iMessage, try the following:
Sign in to iMessage on your device using a valid Apple ID. After you validate the email address for use with iMessage, other iMessage users can connect to you using that email address. If you encounter issues registering or using an Apple ID account:
Ensure you have an active Internet connection.
Verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at myinfo.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this webpage.
Ensure that your date, time, and time zone are set correctly. If your country has recently made a daylight saving time (DST) change, it may be necessary to manually set the time zone to one that matches your local time.
Check that your email address is verified in Settings > Messages > Receive At.
If Settings > Messages > Receive At shows your email status as "verifying," follow the instructions in the verification email that was sent to complete the process.
Toggle iMessage off and on in Settings > Messages.
iPhone automatically registers your phone number for use with iMessage during activation. If you encounter issues activating or using iMessage with your phone number:
Verify that you are connected to a cellular network.
Toggle iMessage off and on in Settings > Messages.
If you are unable to activate iMessage on a device after remote wiping it, wait at least 24 hours and try again.

  • Problems deploying OSD on Lenovo i7

Hi, we are trying to deploy Windows 7 over Lenovo i7 (M29P), but once the WinPE is loades and formated & partitioned the hard disk we receive an error message. these are the relevant portions of the SMSTS.log
    Raulito

    Hello,
Is the MAC address shown in the log belong to Lenovo i7?
According to the log, you have got the netwrok settings. But we still need to verify the connection. When PE loaded, press F8, check ipconfig, arp table, ping and so on.
If everythink seems normal, please check you switches and routers. ACL or 802.1x authentication may become culprit in some scenario.

    Hi Jochen,
Thank you for your reply once again. I was doing exactly the same thing that you've mentioned (plugging the URL into my browser). Later I realized my folly & created the WebDAV URL into "My Netwrok Places". Nevertheless your reply helped me confirm that what I was going in the right direction.
I sub-question to the above topic. What role does WebDAV play in archiving of documents? How does it help in pushing the cFolders documents to a Document Management system?
I would appreciate your inputs on this as well.
