  • How to remove win 8 and install win 7 in bootcamp

I want to completely remove win 8 and install win 7 in bootcamp. I followed the steps in bootcamp assistant and it appears to remove the win 8 partition. However when starting a new win 7 bootcamp partition and installation setup still thinks win 8 is being used. how do I get it to recognize the win 7 now being installed from the usb drive? This is on an iMac 27 late 2012 with OS x 10.10.1

    Hi Janesdf,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are looking for Windows downgrade on your Ideapad N580.
Before doing any changes in the system HDD partition or with Windows OS, I suggest you to create the system recovery media and then you can downgrade the OS. But you require Windows 7 recovery media.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,
    Hemanth Kumar

  • Satellite Pro P100 (PSPA4E) - No Sound Following Win 7 Clean Install

Hello, A European friend really struggling and looking for help.
I have just clean installed Win 7 Home Premium (64 bit) on a Satellite Pro P100 (PSPA4E) which was purchased in November 2006. It was previously running XP and I never installed Vista though the laptop is badged Vista Capable) I followed the Win 7 bios/driver/software install order but I now have no sound at all. Everything that I have tried so far has failed to fix it.
The laptop has a Conexant based audio solution with harman kardon speakers. Win 7 has installed the following driver which reports the following info.
High Definition Audio Device (Microsoft Driver version 6.1.7601.17514 dated 11/19/2010) and Device status: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
    Hardware IDs:
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_1179FF31&REV_1000 HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_1179FF31
There is a second exclamation mark in Device Manager for a further unknown device / uninstalled driver (showing code 28) for a device with a Hardware ID of ACPI\SMCB000 but I do not know what this device is!
Does anyone have any suggestions on a fix for my sound issue?
    Thanks!
    Martyn

Any one have any thoughts on this issue?
I have failed to locate a working / compatible Windows 7 x64 driver for Conexant HD Audio!
    Perhaps there isn't one?
Perhaps I need to try harder?!?
Perhaps the on board sound solution featuring Conexant HD Audio is simply ****** as on www.conexant.com they say manufacturers have TOLD them NOT to make drivers available (... to poor unfortunate users)!!!
I think that manufacturers need to step up to the plate and support / help their customers.  I own 4 Satellite Pro laptops running Vista x32 and Windows 7 x64. This one cost me well over £1,200 so I don't want to hear or conclude that it is simply scrap!  That would represent truly poor value for money - the kind of business case that would undermine my belief that Toshiba laptops are the best in the business.
Ditto Microsoft - the Windows 7 x64 Upgrade Advisor tool gave me the all clear to upgrade this system.  All generally appears fine EXCEPT the lack of sound.
Having now been exposed to the experience of many other laptop owners set out in various forums etc, covering both Toshiba laptops and some other major brands, I have to conclude that the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor is flawed and that a successful upgrade is somewhat hit and miss affair.  Beware!
That said, still hopeful that someone out there will be able to help me fix this issue?

  • Trying to get Win 7 64 installed, not working

I am trying to get Win 7 64 installed. I have my dvd (downloaded a authorized version from Microsoft partners group, legal copy, we use it for other installs all the time). I imaged it to a dvd, should be all set.
Both Mac and Win side see the DVD. I go to my bootcamp utility, and go through that process. I am setting it up on my solid state drive that I just put into my CD slot. The DVD drive is now in an external housing hooked up VIA USB.
I then tell it to continue to format my new HD, and start the instal. It restarts, my DVD drive spins up and starts running. Then a gray screen comes up with the Apple in the middle. It then flashes, every now and then.
Can any of you give me some ideas? I have spent hours on this so far.
    Thanks,
    John

If you use Apple Disk Utility to burn the ISO, it won't work properly unless burned at reduced slowest speed 2x. Common and what I would consider "well known" but not documented, not put in the PDF guide in writing.
Sometimes it even boots and installs but bad install and fails. So in a way you were lucky it wouldn't start.

  • Macbook Pro with SSD 10.8 OS install CC desktop failed

System disk (256GB SSD) has 210GB before installation process started, 16GB system DIMM available, OS is v10.8. The process of updating Creative Cloud Desktop could not be finished, system prompted warning message of "insufficient memory for app installation" even SDD still has 140GB left.

    Dear Kapil,
I still failed to install CC desktop successfully. Same failure encountered. It looks like the installation process could not be finished for some reason, the storage space in SSD was keeping consuming for more than 60GB. I would not believe CC desktop needs more than 60G storage for installation. I had already installed it on my Mac Pro without any problem. I tried to install it on my MBP as backup. My issue may also relate to my changing level of my subscription last week. I upgraded my subscription level from single app to full function last week by the help from Adobe Service staff. However, I still saw the older subscription was listed on my subscription list, even the service staff said he or she has already cancelled my single app subscription successfully. I started to get warning message of trial expiration soon today while I was using Photoshop CC. This did tell me my single app subscription has been cancelled. Why I still saw it in my subscription list? It is really confusing.

Not advised it will not work or fit correctly you need to have a adapter to make that fit and as the other poster said your speed will be slower. Also you can get laptop drives each that are 2tb in both bay without needing to take out the OD drive itself. Did you look into that before getting a SSD.

  • Win 7 clean install

Hello, sorry if this has been brought up a lot before - how do I do a Win 7 clean install with HDD format with OEM OS? My idea was to create a deployable USB, but I soon found that MS will not really let me download an image of an OEM OS, and will have me turn to the OEM provider for this end. I briefly went through Acer tech support but found no way of obtaining (online) the image. Is there some way I missed, or is there different (simpler) procedure for a clean install? Thank you.

@ terenz: I would be fine with making my own installation media, but the (original OEM) Win7 installation will not allow me to create them; only the "recovery" disc which is not enough to make a clean install. So I went to Microsoft site to download ISO image for my Windows copy and it (obviously) refused to hand it to me, directing me to my OEM SW provider (Acer in this case) instead. I am kind of stuck from here on. @ ACE IronFly: Thanks, will give it a shot when I have a chance. Just to be clear - is there a chance erecovery will work after a HDD format?

  • Purchased refurb twist. Win 8.1 installed on SSD and no recovery partition.

I purchased a lenovo 2s30u twist as a refurb. the machine has a 24G SSD and 500G HDD.
Win 8.1 is installed on the SSD which makes it pretty much full. As I understand it, the OS is supposed to be on the 500G HDD and the SSD is used as a cache of the OS to speed up the boot process.
There is no recovery partition on this machine. I tried using the recovery drive maker and it has the recovery partition part greyed out.
All I wanTt to do is make this thing as it was from the  factory. Do I need to buy recovery disks? Is there another wray to move the OS to the other drive? Once it starts filling up with temp files and updates that tdrive will be completely full and won't work at all so I really need to get this moved to the proper drive. Any other advice is appreciated.

    Hello,
Have you contacted Lenovo by telephone to see if factory recovery media can be ordered for the unit?  If so, that should reinstall Windows 8 or 8.1 correctly, I would think.

  • Office 2013 Startup Problem with NEW Win 8.1 Install and no prior Office Version

Although I have seen similar threads on the forum, they all seem to address a different scenario.
    My environment is as follows:
Intel MotherBoard with I07 max processor
    64GB RAM
512 GB SSD Boot drive on which Windows 8.1 was installed as first and only O/S.  It was validated
4TB HDD on which User directory and programs installed (those which permit drive selection in startup)
    4TB data drive.
Machine was built from scratch with Win 8.1 Pro plus Media Center
Office 2013 Pro Plus was installed and validated
Machine is running in an MS AD Domain whose PDC is running on Win Server 2008 R2
User is a member of Enterpise and Domain Admin group
    HERE'S THE PROBLEM,
Any Office 2013 Pro Plus application (Not Just Oulook) goes through the configuration step EACH time it is launched.

    Hi,
Try repairing Office in Control Panel -> Programs and Features, check the result.
    You can also try this:
Go to the install folder, such as C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15, find the .exe file for the application, let's take Word for example, WINWORD.EXE, right click on it, send the shortcut to Desktop, right click the
shortcut -> Properties -> Shortcut -> Advanced -> Check "Run as administrator" -> OK -> OK.
Start Word from the shortcut, you may need to go through the process again, reboot the computer, check if it will show up again when you start Word. If the problem doesn't exist any more, do the same to other Office applications.

  • T500 win 7 clean install wifi problems

    Hi there,
I recently did a clean install of windows 7 on my t500 thinkpad. I have downloaded all of the related drivers and installed them.
My problem is that I can not make a connection at all by wire or wireless. The wifi link 5100 does not even show up in the device manager.
Any advice on what I need to do to get this computer running properly again?
    thanks!

Exactly, once it installs drivers it will detect additional HW and then install more drivers. It may take 2-3+ restart and reboots to fully detect and install all of the drivers.

  • Y50-70, unfreeze SSD for clean W10 install

    H!
Recently bought an Y50-70 and very pleased with it although I would like to re-install Windows 10 and not have 6 partitions (!) that I have now by default.
Tried "Parted Magic" but it said that my SSD was "frozen" and even though I did try to put my computer to sleep it didn't unfreeze the SSD. Since the SSD in question seems to be an "SAMSUNG MZ7TE256HMHP-000L2" I tried installing "Samsung Magician" and made a bootable disc to try and do a secure erase in that program. The Samsung program still said that my SSD was "frozen".
I am running the latest BIOS: "9ECN40WW (V3.00)" released 29/7-15 and has disabled "Secure Boot".
Tried laborating with UFI / Legacy but that don't solve the problem either.
So I am wondering the following:
    1) Is there a way to make a secure erase and remove all partitions and make a fresh install?
I read that you can try and remove the SSD when the computer is on and I am booted into either Parted Magic or Samsungs bootdisc but haven't tried it.
    2) The key is located in the BIOS right so since I've already installed (upgraded) to Win 10 then I should just need to insert the OEM disc and then the installation should work without any problems?
    3) Is there a way to burn recover discs? I looked at the program "OneKey" that was pre-installed but that just seemed to make a backup of my current "C:"-partition and not the recovery partition itself.
    4) Is there a way to download "OneyKey" again if it should offer recovery discs (since I have deleted it).
Right now I have all the partitions as they were from the factory except that I've upgraded to Win 10 instead of 8.1 that came pre-installed.
Thank you for your help in advance - TheSwede86

    hi Forest1,
    Welcome to the Forums.
When you receive the Y50-70, can you try these steps:
    1. Follow this video disassembly guide on how to replace the HDD with an SSD. Alternatively, you can also watch this youtube video on how to replace the drive.
    2. If you're planning to install Windows 8.1 Pro in UEFI mode, follow this guide on how to convert the DVD installer into a USB installer. When finished, boot into the BIOS and set the following settings then hit F10 to save and exit.
        - Link to picture
    Secure Boot = Disabled
    USB Boot = Enabled
OS Optimized Defaults = Other OS
When finished, boot from the USB flashdrive that you created (by tapping F12 and selecting the flashdrive on the boot manager) and you should be able to install Windows 8.1 Pro on the SSD.
