Never ending restore cycle.

Today, my iPod touch would not sync to iTunes, and it told me I must restore.
So I restored my iPod, when it finished it said "Please leave iPod connected etc..." and had the 'Connect to iTunes' display on the iPod. iTunes just says it has detected an iPod in recovery mode and must be restored. I have been through this process and restored it 3 times now but it won't go out of recovery mode.
What do I do?

mine won't ever download an os pack. and now that it's stuck in the restor mode i can't do a thing with it. i've already tried all the problem solutions given on a site, but none worked. it just goes all the way down to the end of the download session, downloads all the mbs and then gets stuck later informing that there's an error connecting internet. although it dowloads all the songs etc well. so i have no idea how to bring it back to life!!

  • Never-ending restore: could this be a battery problem?

I have an 18 month old mini, which unfortunately never left the box until it was 13 months old and out of warranty. The first time I started it, my Powerbook would not recognize it. It showed the sad icon except when it showed the static battery. The genius bar in Sacramento said it needed a new battery, but we returned to Boston before the part came in. The genius in Burlington said there was nothing wrong with it; after I got home, the Powerbook showed the iPod as connected but said the hard drive was corrupt. I did a restore with the latest software, again got the "corrupt HD message". The genius in Cambridge said the HD is shot, trade it in for a new iPod. Went back to the Burlington guy, he restored it, and it worked fine for five weeks. I had to do another restore, worked fine for another three days. Now I intermitently get the sad icon and the static giant battery icon, the Powerbook only sometimes recognizes the iPod, and when I attempt a restore, it goes on for hours until either it freezes or I give up and terminate the program. Went back to Burlington, old genius is gone, new one says the HD is shot.
    So.
Could this all be due to a bad battery?
Oh, and now I can get the iPod menu to show, but iTunes won't come up on my screen. (I did a "forced quit" to stop the restore, and now the iTunes screen will not come up and the iTunes icon still has an arrowhead under it). I reinstalled the disk, and checked for updates but I 'm apparently all updated (iTunes 7.0.2).
iPod mini model M9802LL Mac OS X (10.4.5) also says "model A1051"; version 1.4.1

This discussion group is for the Mac mini computer, rather than iPod mini. You would be better, I think, posting in http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=834 which is specifically for iPod mini usage problems.
    Good luck!

  • Never ending download cycle

I've had a really bizarre incident tonight with my iTunes, I purchased a track and after it reached the last kilobyte it returned a warning of 9006 error. So I tried downloading again. Then I got 10000 error and that the file was corrupted. So rebooted my PC, signed out of iTunes and then back in again. The track I had bought now queued up twice to be download! I cleared the download tab and attempted to re-download the track.
Now this is where it gets strange, it reaches the last kilobyte of data, resets to zero and begins the process of downloading again. So far its run this process about 9 times in 10 minutes. It doesn't ever complete. I purchased another track and the same thing happened again so I terminated the track download as it reached the last kilobyte, this time it showed the track available in my iTunes but attempting to play it returned a message warning me I needed to authorize my already authorized PC.
I have found a work around however, I have an iPad, I've purchased the music via my iPad and backed up to my PC iTunes making it available that way. It does mean now however I can no longer download music via iTunes onto my PC.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can remedy this issue that started today? I'd rather not have to attempt to backup everything I have on this PC and format the harddrive.

  • The restore that never ends....Tecra A4

This is a continuing Saga...it's been a little over a month, and the owner/user (not me) is about to give up & buy another laptop to replace this one. Previous exchanges on this community are here:
    http://laptopforums.toshiba.com/t5/Windows-Vista-XP-Win7-RC/HDD-Fact-Image-Restore-Hangs-at-end-2nd-...

I had some good input by Techman & Defender, then for the last month have been struggling with Customer Service to get the disks I ordered. Long story, but in the end, they reversed charges to my CC...and by the time they got things to work in their system....I ended up getting 3 restore disks...the last one delivered today. Apparently they are switching over their parts order system to a new one, and my order was caught in the fray of that adventure.
So now after doing many, many restores, I've come full circle and have exactly the same issues I had with the disks I created from the hidden hdd partition...where the "Applying Final Configuration" splashscreen  is up, Toshiba Assist is running per the Toshiba restore script, and the system freezes. There is no further disk activity, and the machine will only respond to a hard shutdown, by holding the power key. (did I mention how much I hate suspended fabric keys over hard micro keys on laptops?)
I'm certain there is no activity on the drive when this freezes, as the drive activity light works fine on this machine, and when things freeze, there is never any drive activity shown, heard, or felt.
The machine does not appear to be overheating, as the fan comes on every so often, but once things freeze up, the fan runs at a low constant speed, seemingly appropriate since the processor is doing little or nothing during the freeze.
    * Machine never seems to complete setup. Runs "Toshiba America Systems" setup routine 'successfully' once, then runs setup two. Then runs setup three? and goes into freeze mode.
    * Any time machine starts in Windows, it's freezes after about 1 or two minutes.
    * Freeze occurs regardless of mouse movement OR when machine is not touched.
    * Can only regain control of machine via hard power off.
    * Can run the machine in safe mode. There is no freeze up.
    * Can run the machine from a dos disk or BartPE. There is no freeze. Can keep it up for days without issue in these modes.
    * Have formatted entire volume from P/E, attempting to force out any disk issues.
    * Have run chkdsk /r from with no apparent change or fix
    * Have replaced memory in machine with no change in result.
    * Have run Fujitsu HDD utility from dos boot. Passed both quick & extensive tests.
    * Have run MemTest, completing 4 complete cycles on memory with no failures
    * Have run msconfig from safe mode, initiating minimal startup. When machine restarts in 'normal' Windows with minimal support, it still freezes after a minute or so.
    * Even Chkdsk, when run from normal startup stalls at 26/27 percent...about the 1 to 2 minutes time.
    * HOWEVER... Chkdsk is fine when run from BartPE disk.... chkdsk c: /r
Any help or suggestion would be GREATLY appreciated...I've never been so throughly flummoxed by a small piece of hardware...

    ...Lost in a restore cycle...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

My only other suggestion is to check the memory on this unit.  Toshiba's are picky about getting good memory.  So my guess is this unit might have been upgraded.  Cehck the specs to see how much it comes with and see if there is more in it then that.  Remember some memory maybe on the bottom and some may be under the keyboard.
I suspose a BIOS update might be worth it.  (I didn't have time to look at the old threads...)

  • Sync never ends

I have a new 32mb Touch. I originally synced it while on vacation with PC #1, and it worked perfectly. Now I am home, and I have attempted to sync it with PC #2.
I tried several times to sync to PC #2, and each time it would successfully transfer all (or most) of my media, but the sync process would never end.
I am using iTunes 7.6.1.9, and my Touch is version 1.1.3 with Software Upgrade.
I even went so far as to do a total restore of the Touch, but this doesn't seem to fix the problem.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

I ended up calling Apple, and they had me completely reformat the iPod. This seemed to fix the problem.

  • Never ending automatic repair loop

I'm working on a client's HP ENVY TouchSmart 4-1215dx Ultrabook that is stuck in a never-ending automatic repair loop. I have done a system diag...all passed . Tried multiple ways to get into BIOS to do a repair from a USB stick made from another OS 8....but can't get into BIOS to change the boot. Tried F11 to do factoy resest....just puts me back into the loop.  I have a feeling my client downloaded a bad 8.1. Considering pulling the HDD and using my desktop to at least try and save her personal data....Please help!

That would be the best thing to first do and then use the recovery media of which you will now have to order since the O/S seems corrupted beyond repairs. This way you can be sure the recovery media will restore it back to factory install and hopefully they will not do this again til they will consult first before upgrading the O/S.

  • Never-ending restart

My phone has begun to restart itself several times a day. It then continues into a seemingly never-ending cycle of turning off and on. The Apple symbol appears followed by a circular symbol and then it goes black and repeats the process. It has been like this for going on 3 hours now and I would love to clear all the data as I have seen suggested but I can't get that far. Please advise.

Try an iPhone Reset by pressing/holding the Home button and Sleep/Wake or On/Off button simultaneously until you see the white Apple logo then release. This can take up to 10 seconds and decline the slide to turn off prompt when doing so.
If this doesn't work and your iPhone is not recognized by iTunes when connected to your computer, time to call AppleCare - (800) 694-7466.

  • SOLUTION for the never ending reboot loop when charging

I used my iPad until the battery was completely flat, then when I went to charge it, it got stuck in the never ending reboot loop where it shows the Apple logo for about 30 seconds, then shows the home screen for a split second before shutting down and repeating the whole process again and again.
So here's what you need to do to fix this problem without having to restore or plug into iTunes.
    1. Plug in the charger
    2. When the Apple logo appears, unplug the charger
    3. As soon as you see the home screen appear, plug the charger back in. You need to do this quickly as the home screen only shows for a split second
    4. The loading wheel should appear and shut down the iPad
    5. Leave the iPad for a good 30mins or so just to get some battery life into before you start using it again.
    And that's it!

iOS 7 allows you to have your apps update automatically. Therefore, the list of what has been updated stays so that you can see what was updated, when and what the release notes say. It has been suggested that they list has a limit, much like Recents. Currently, there is no way for the user to delete the entries manually. Just try not to look at them.

  • Loading plsql_proxy.jar takes so long..never ends

    Hello people,

anybody knows how long takes the proxy client generation process?

I have this issue also, with images from my D70 (~6 megapixels) ... no solution, except that when it happens, quitting and re-launching Aperture seems to clear it up for a while, at least until it happens again.
Given that you have almost twice the RAM and four times the CPU cores that I have, I suspect this is a software issue, and not one of insufficient hardware resources.  :-)

  • I printed a 'preview' document and now it continues to print a never ending set of copies.  I have re-installed the printer software, but it still continues to print more copies.  What do I need to do to stop the document printing?

I printed a 'preview' document and now it continues to print a never ending set of copies.  I have re-installed the printer software, but it still continues to print more copies.  What do I need to do to stop the document printing?

    Try resetting the printing system.
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse
    4. Click the "Reset printing system ..." popup
    5. Restart your Mac
This will remove your print queues but not your printer drivers. So you will only need to add your printer queues again.

I created a new administrator USER account. I deleted the original one but the process never ends. It's been 3 days now. And I can't close preferences window or turn off the computer.
It's stays in the "deleting" but I can't cancel it or close the window.
    What can I do?

Here are two screen shots to show you what I am seeing.  The first screen shot shows it allowing me to select (highlighted in blue) my admin user (which is what I am locced in as).  The second screen shot shows it allowing me to select the "Guest" user (highlighted in blue).  However when I click on the user "Orion" nothing happens.  It will not change to highlight that user.

  • Initial Time Machine Backup never ends

    Hi all folks,
I try to backup my PB12 Disc (120 GB) to a external 500 GB Disc, connected via FW400, but the backup never ends, I think.
The backup starts with 100MB/min but after 20h (80GB are store to a external Disc) it slow down to 1MB/min.
With the "Activity Monitor" I see only some disc activities and a "mds" and "mdworker" process use some cpu time only (more than 10%).
Where can I get some detail information, a log file, about the Time Machine activity from.
    Thanks for any help,
    Lutz

    Hi all folks,
the initial Backup ends after 2 days (nice to to see, :-(),
but on the boot volume I can go the time walk only.
I split my disc into two partitions, sorry.
    Bye, Lutz
    p.s.
With CCC I spend 4-6 hours to back up my disks only (100GB).

  • Mappings never ends

    Dear All,
We are using 10.2 version of OWB and we have around 80 mappings in one module daily we are running the mappings parallel through control center for the time consuming (manually). but one mapping still running normally it takes 1:30 to 2:00 hrs time to finish but some times it is taken almost 5 to 6 hrs some times it never end. at that situation we stopped the mapping.but while we check the target table data is coming perfect.
Let me know the cause of this and how to salve it.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
When you kill the mapping from the Control Center the DB session which was triggered by mapping won't kill , you may see the session still running from Session Browser or any other way. This may be the reason you see the data in the Target table. to test this you may start regular running mapping and kill it from CC and observe the session from Database and you may see the data in the target table too.
This may be one possibility. I am not saying what others say is wrong . I had experienced this issue before and i had to tune my code to get the mapping run consistent.

  • My icalendar data is on a never ending importing how do I get it to stop?

My icalendar is on a never ending importing how do I get it to stop!

Items purchased in an account a permanently associated with that account.  You cannot split accounts nor merge them.  You can log in with your family account and download items that way.  In the long run though, especially if you are using other Apple devices, you may encounter problems with authorization.  You should look into making new purchases with your own ID.
