Never used adobe video editing software

I am considering Adobe cs4 but hesitate because my only experience with video editing is with Pinnacle studio. I am not the fastest gun in the west learning computer programs. My questions are:
How difficult is it to learn?
Are there good video teaching aids to help someone like me?
Is cs4 more stable than premiere elements 7?
Does cs4 have everything I need to do wedding videography?
Do I need more computer power than Adobe recommends?
thanks
Dave

David G,
Way back when, I used Pinnacle S-7, 8 & 9. Moved to PP and never looked back. There is more "hand-work," but so very much more power. Yes, there is a bit of a learning curve, but a good read of the manual, a read of this forum (don't forget to go back and see previous versions, because much there will help you find where things are located and how they work), the various tutorial sites, and most of all, the Premiere-pedia, http://premierepro.wikia.com/wiki/Adobe_Premiere_Pro_Wiki
As for Elements, I have PE4 and find it more difficult to use, than Pro. Remember, I have been on Pro for some years, and have used it exclusively. I picked up PE4 to handle odd CODEC files, that it does better than Pro. If I am correct, PE3 was closer to Pro, than is PE4, or PE7. Both are "big button," kinda' like Pinnacle Studio.
If you can use the power of Pro, I'd urge you to look at it closely, especially with Encore. If S-12 does it for you, then PE might, as well. When you use Encore to author DVD's, you will never look back to either PE, or S-12.
Remember, if you do go with Pro, do read the manual, if for no other reason than to find the correct terminology, to ask questions here, in such a manner, that the Pro users can understand what you need. I flew with the manual for two months and have re-read it about 4x, over the last four years. Each reading reveals something new, or something that now makes perfect sense, when it was Greek to me initially.

  • Any suggestions on a good video editing software for MacBook Pro

I have just joined the MacBook Pro community would like an idea for good video software options

Also, compare the hardware specification (not just minimums) needed to actually
use the video editing software; plus consider external storage options of huge
capacity since most portable computers don't really have all that much storage.
A few years ago some suggested Avid Media Composer as professional software
but then in the same discussion, said the MacBook Pro may not be able to handle
the demands of the application; and went on to suggest an Apple Mac Pro tower.
Some software needs require further study prior to committing resources & funds
to discover perhaps the product may/may not be adequate. Avid likely is still costly.
Hopefully you can get a great editor with a few creative options, for a decent price.
    Good luck & happy computing!

    Hi Cereskit
Thanks again for the message. I've done the updates and have the App Store on my desktop. I went into it and searched for imovie but couldn't find the basic imovie, which I presume is what I'd need for editing?, rather than imovie 11 for £10.49, which is for making trailers, it seems. Also, were you saying that imovie would be free?

  • Any futures plans to include a real video editing software for hp sprout, like Adobe premiere pro?

    Very simple question.
Is there any plans to include a real video editing software for HP Sprout?
Video editing software like Adobe premire Pro?
It will be amazing if you (HP people) can develop and integrate a video editing software like Adobe premiere Pro into the HP Sprout.
    Thank you in advance!

HP is pretty reticent to revealing "Future Plans".  It would be a real shot in the arm though if this happens!
How about it @Ty1 ?  Can you shed any light on the subject?

  • Camileo S10 - squashed movie using video editing software

I don't even know what to say.
I have a video that will play fine in windows media player, but if I try to import it into other programs like Camtasia or Sony Vegas, it seems to do this...
    http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/4861/camtasiasux.png
I don't even know how to describe it. It's not slicing it up, because it's been squashed too. So it's just kept the dimentions, shrunk it, and then repeated the image on the end.
It's doing this with a lot of the programs I have and I haven't messed around with the camera at all. It is also recording the files as .avi, which I am not sure it is meant to do.
Any ideas on how to fix my Toshiba camelio S10?

    Hi mate
You said the videos are showing ok using the media player.
Only the video editing software shows these videos squashed
Im not quite sure why, but maybe you should check some settings in theses certain video editing applications
PS: On your pictures I can see that you are using the Camtasia Studio.
The first clip contains an edit option 1280x720, Shrink to fit. Maybe this is the reason why the clips show squashed

  • What is a good video editing software I can use on my MacBook Pro?

What is a good video editing software I can use on my MacBook Pro?
*also, It would be great if I could edit multi-channel audio on the software
    Any suggestions?

probably THE best software is Avid Media Composer. It's an industry standard for Feature Films, Television programs and commercials.
Professional editors and producers around the world have told them what the software needs to succeed.
-More efficient and easy-to-use video editing tools. An open platform that enables you to work with everything you want and integrate into any workflow. More power to eliminate bottlenecks, so you can work faster than ever.
-Create 5.1 and 7.1 surround mixes directly within Media Composer, or import from Pro Tools (watch the video)
I own this NLE and it truly is the best out of all of the editing programs I've used.
** It's quite expensive though. But worth it if you want the best!
    ~$2,499.00
Another option would be Final Cut Pro. The little brother of Avid MC. I have Final Cut Pro X and I am very disappointed with it. It’s not an update of the existing Final Cut, which is one of the most popular programs; it’s completely new and radically redesigned. It looks different, its strengths are different — "and after one day of using it, many professional video editors are running through the streets with pitchforks."
Final Cut Pro X Review - NY Times
** It's a good starting program if you just doing editing that isn't quite as demanding as feature films, TV programs and commercials. Many editors have been moving away from FCP after the release of the current version. However, It is a lot less expensive than Avid MC
    ~$299.99
Personally, having both Media Composer and Final Cut Pro X, I would go for Media Composer if it's in your budget. Definitely worth the price!

  • N93 video editing software

my bro found a N93i few days ago, and he said the phones has video editing software, and wants 2 no if there a video editing software for the pc for the n93 and if so, can it be downloaded

There are about 500,000 different video editing solutions that you can use in the PC.
    Can you be more specific?
    Windows Movie Maker.
    Nero Platnium
    Roxio Creator
    DVD Maker Plus
    Adobe Elements
    RealProducer Plus
    Etc.
    Etc.
And each one will require something else to work with MPEG-4 videos. So depending on what you want to use then you may need different support.
640K Should be enough for everybody

  • Best video editing software available 2014 for iMac

Need suggestions for best video editing software available Nov 2014 for iMac.

If by best you mean the most editing tools and effects available, and used by most professional video studios, that would be either the Adobe Premiere Pro suite, or Avid. Neither of which is cheap. Final Cut Studio used to have a pretty generous share of that professional market, but FCP X was such a radical change to the app (not to mention not even being able to open standing FCS projects with it), many former FCS users switched to Adobe or Avid.
For inexpensive and still a lot of power, FCP X is a steal.

  • Easy Video Editing Software?

    Hi folks
I'm wondering if anyone here knows of a good, reliable video editing software for the iMac that will easily support the use of HD Videos?
I need some software to do easy, quick and simple editing, mainly traiming, adding music and adding transition effects but I don't like iMovie as its kinda awkward to use and does not seem to support many video formats... mainly for me it doesn't allow me to import the MPG4 files from my camcorder.
Any suggestions would be great thanks!

If you want both easy and free, and you want to work on a Mac, I would stay with iMovie, but use MPEGStreamclip to export your MP4 file to a Quick Time as a preliminary step.  Final Cut Pro X will work with most MP4, but works more reliably if first converted to mov. (However, if you're not crazy about  like iMovie, you will probably not like FCP either.)
Premier Pro would probably edit your files natively, but it is a fairly pricey option. If you're interested, go to the Adobe web site and download a trial version to test how you like it and how well it will work with your camera.
    Good luck.

  • Inability to activate installed Adobe Digital Editions software

I am able to download and successfully install the Adobe Digital Editions software on my HP Pavillion desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium but I cannot activate the program after installation.
Before the first time the program is launched, to gain access, you must enter your Adobe ID and Password but I am never asked for this information at the end of the installation process.
I have installed, uninstalled and re-installed the program several times but the end result is always the same.  When I open the program all I get is a black, inoperative screen.
Thank you for any suggestions as to why this is happening.

I'm not sure what process you've followed to install ADE.  I'm guessing, so
let me go over the process from the start.  No offense - I don't have
enough information about what you've done to be specific.
First, you should be going to the Adobe website and registering as a user.
When you do that, your ADE download will contain your Adobe User ID and
your Adobe password.  At that point, ADE is 'ready for action'.  I would
uninstall ADE, empty the Recycle Bin, then register with Adobe and try the
    download again.
Next, Win 7 seems to have some kinks in it that have caused some ADE users
to swear, curse and generally get nasty at the software.  Security settings
have to be set to allow ADE to interact with ebook websites.  But there are
some hidden settings that you don't see that have caused problems.  Also,
some users have mentioned that you may need to use 'compatibiltiy mode' for
    the software.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can no longer see my purchased books in Adobe Digital Edition software

Because my purchased books are no longer listed on my Adobe Digital Edition software, they can no longer be downloaded into my E-Reader (due to Rights protection).  I do not understand why they disappeared from the Purchased list.  I would like Adobe to Re-install into my purchased list all my purchased books.  Would like some help with that.

Very nice device the PRS-350, my wife and I both have them.
Not exactly sure how much you have updated, so some of these comments may not be to the point ....
Copying to the Sony should have worked as long as it is still registered with the ID used when you bought the books.
Maybe the Sony lost its registration when you did Sony updates, and you need to reregister it?
Nothing will work with a different ID; you can change the email address assocated with the old ID,
but can't read books with a device registered with a different ID or transer them to a new ID.
Probably when you updated your software ADE lost its repository.
Adobe does not remember your books in any 'cloud' associated with your ID,
the ID is just used to unlock the files you still have that are associated with the ID.
Try opening the books on the USB on ADE (ctrl-O, menu/File/Add to Library).
They should then appear again in the ADE library and you should be able to copy to the Sony (assuming registrations all correct).
Or, if you want the books always available on the computer even without the USB,
copy from USB to computer, then use ADE to open the copies on the computer.
If ADE won't read the books either it is probably not correctly registered (with the original ID).
One possibility is that ADE got confused about registration when you reinstalled (it often does).
    See ***1 note at end.
Also, there is a bug in ADE2.0/2.0.1 that means they Sony devices won't work with library books on that ADE release.
If you want to use library books, use the older more reliable version of ADE.
    See ***2.
    Good luck.

Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help.
Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people.  Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1265248?tstart=0

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1).  Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

  • I have a Kobo N416  E-Reader. It is no longer supported by Kobo and is outdated. I was told that I can use Adobe Digital Editions Desktop App to download book to this Kobo N416 E-Reader . How do I do this ? Thanks

Question;  How do I download Ebooks to my Kobo N416 e-reader using Adobe Digital Editions App ? I have already tried to get help from Kobo Techs but they say the Kobo N416 E-Reader is no longer supported by Kobo and is outdated. Kobo told me to use Adobe Digital Editions to download the books I bought on Kobo to my Kobo N416 E-Reader. I have already contacted Adobe Digital Editions for help but they could not help me and told me to go to Adobe Forums.

I didnt't say that our business is using Linux Desktops. I wrote, our main clientele is. And what our customers do like to use is something we cannot control...
    >What difference does it make to you if Adobe releases a new version of Reader that is not supported on Linux?
a new Adobe Reader version that's supported on Linux would be nice. a dialogue between Adobe and Linux developers would be nice...
    >As long as the old versions can open the files correctly, that's all that matters, no?
No, not if our staff is trained to use the newest Adobe Acrobat (trainings are usually for the newest versions) and uses that to produce forms. Now the files open correctly. But what will be in some months or years? Do people working on Linux do have to print the forms then again to fill in?
So do you recommend that we stop the process of producing electronic forms and stay with paper-fill-in forms? Is that the goal of Adobe? (maybe not so clever for your "financial viability"?!?!? ... ein schuss ins eigene bein?!?!)
    >Adobe is a public company and therefore it's not going to maintain a version of its software at great cost if it's not financially viable. It's as simple as that...
So it is to be interpreted that Adobe is interested in killing Linux cause if users cannot work with let's say forms, they will have to switch to something that can do that for them...
We definitely don't want to force Windows or Mac on our clientele. So as far as I get it, we will go back to paper forms and terminate our licence agreements with Adobe and deinstall it...

  • Have purchased a new computer but can not install elements 12 since it has been installed on old laptop.  Is there a small fee to be able to do this.  Never installed the video editing portion, can this be installed with no problem?

Have purchased a new computer but can not install elements 12 since it has been installed on an older laptop.  This is a one time user program, is there a code that can be put in or a small fee to pay to be able to use the program again.  Never installed the video editing and hoping this can be installed with no problem.

If the laptop is still connected Launch Elements in Expert Mode. Go to the help menu and sign-out. That will deactivate usage on the laptop.

  • User Interfaces of video editing software, feedback needed

    Hallo,
my name is Wolfgang, I'm a student at OvG-University in Magdeburg, Germany. Me and my team are researching user interfaces of video editing software.
As a part of this, we created a small online survey [1], mainly targeted at professional cutters (amateurs are welcome too, though). It is pretty basic for now and shouldn't cost you much of your time.
Please consider participating in it as it would provide us with valuable data needed for our research.
I found no indication in the terms of Use that posting a non-commercial survey is prohibited. Still, if this message is considered spam, please excuse my mistake.

  • Install and use Adobe Digital Editions on a computer without internet access ?

    Hello,
I have a pair of PCs, one of them, with Windows Vista, has never been connected to the internet since many years. It is used for word processing mostly. I didn't even bother to plug an ethernet cable inside or think about a Wifi USB key, in a way it's better that way, no useless distractions and no security threats.
I want to use that offline PC for work, and it would require to use Adobe Digital Editions on that machine. I downloaded the offline standalone installer from adobe.com without problems, however, apparently, Adobe only accepts us to use the program after we have activated it through internet access.
Does that mean there is simply no way out, and I can't use Digital Editions on my offline computer ?
Would you perhaps know a solution to this issue ?
Thank you VERY MUCH if you can help !
    Kind regards

I don't think there is a way out.
You could use it for non-DRM books without authorizing, but there are much better options (such as the free Calibre) for that anyway. http://calibre-ebook.com/
If you make a temporary internet connection, then once authorized, you should not need internet access to read books you have got elsewhere and copied to it.
