New 2014.2.1 still crashes at Welcome Screen

Well, I tried installing 2014.2.1 but I still get the Welcome Screen crash.  Given all the crash fixes in that update I had high hopes but no joy. This time when I tried to roll back my choices were CS6 and CC.  However, after installing CC I checked again and now CC (2014) was an option. So I installed that and I am at least back to where I started.  Interestingly, neither CC or 2014.0 present a Welcome Screen when loading for the first time after installation.
What I would really like is a link to 2014.1 which worked fine before my troubles started.
Any help would be appreciated.

What does the detailed crash report say?

  • Crashes on Welcome screen when I click Organizer

I have Photoshop 11, running it on Windows 7.  It has worked for about 18 months, but now system crashes on the welcome screen every time I click on the Organizer button

If that has worked before, the problem is probably with your catalog.
Hold the shift key pressed before launching the organizer. Select your catalog and try a repair, then optimize.
You can also try to create a new (empty) catalog from that dialog and see if the organizer opens normally.

product is iMac, latest version of everything, brand new out of the box, from Apple.

    Nope, this didn't help Linc.
I finally got through to AppleCare. Turns out it was a corrupted drive, from the get-go. Never had a chance. Taking it to my nearest Apple Store in the am. to get the geeks to replace it. So young, so young, but it died a noble death. So it will soon be replaced by ImaScreaming version 2.0

    Hello,
I bought a brand new MPB, took it out of the box yesterday hooked it on the AC, started it up, got the nice welcome video, went through the language settings, and then when i had to give in my name all **** broke lose.
I got the beautiful black screen with the white letters saying i have to shut down the computer.

  • Premiere 2014 MXF Footage Still Crashing, Glitching, Picture Freezes but Audio Plays Fine, Footage Duplicating Itself in Media Bin & Timeline - HitFilm3 pro plays fine!

WTH is going with Premiere?  These continuing problems are just getting worse and worse. I just imported 12 hours of MXF footage at 720p and almost all the footage has duplicated itself in my media bin when I import. rather the files are there ie: AA009906.MXF, and so on numerically, but the lengths are all the same, and the picons play the exact same footage within the media bin. So I drag all the footage to the timeline where the footage is all duplicated the same amount of files there are. But not always. Also if I just drag the first file down to timeline, almost the whole disk shows up on the timeline. Finally when playing, after about a couple of minutes, the pictures freezes on some non descript frame for the rest of about 2 hours worth.  Then everything all picks up fine. Next chip of files same thing but at different places.
What's really a hoot, is that I just downloaded a trial version of HITFILM3PRO editing software and all my footage plays just fine without any of ADOBE's glitches.  Also downloaded AVL Player for MXF files, to which everything plays just fine too.
This is oh so ridiculous that If I weren't laughing so much right now, i'd be on the verge of a heart attack with all this Adobe Crap!
I can't fathom why Adobe isn't paying me to be a Beta Tester, instead of me having to call my new client, Once Again, and tell them that their project is on Hold, Once again, just the same for every project ever since adobe introduced "CREATIVE CLOUD".

That's strange. Can you upload a test file so I can try and replicate the behavior?
You did ingest via the Media Browser after copying the camera's HD cards to your media HD right?
What kind of camera is this?

  • ITunes 9 on Vista - crash on Welcome Screen

    Guys,
I've got a machine that crashes as soon as you click "Close" or the X to close the "Welcome to iTunes" window that opens after the install. Everything in the window is fine, you can minimize it and use iTunes fine but if you close that window iTunes immediately dies.
Any ideas? Anyone else seeing this?

  • APE  crashes after welcome screen

My Adobe Premiere Elements 12 crashes as soon as I try to open a new project.  Here is the error message.
Unhandled exception at 0x08A98B6 (dvacore.dll) in Adobe Premiere
    Elements.exe 0xC00000FD: Stack overflow (parameters: 0x00000001,
    0x16C83FE0).

    Okay I'll try to clarify.
I opened my Adobe Creative Cloud and there was a message for me.  I can't remember exactly what it said but it indicated there was a service package for me to download (it said bug fixes in small font below the title).  It was not labled Premiere Elements exactly but did have the word "Pro" somewhere in the name.  I assumed I was supposed to download it so I did and it took 20 or 30 minutes to download and install.
I've been trying to run this program for over a week now and every time I try to run it it crashes after a few seconds.  So I cannot use the Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets because the program never opens, it just crashes so I never even see the menu options or the timeline.
I read somewhere in the forum that there is a bug in dvacore.dll that sometimes puts a double slash "//" in the default path which causes it to crash.  I thought perhaps if I loaded a file from a path other than the default path that I could get around this bug which is why I tried opening the raw video file using the "Open With" route.  When I did Premiere Elements opened properly and I was able to view the video as the cursor moved along the timeline so I assumed everything was working.  I even opened a new project which opened properly even though this had never worked before.
But now I it is crashing again whenever I try to open my previous project or start a new project or if I use the "Open With" menu options.
    Please help.

  • Just got a new IMac and can't get past the welcome screen?

I'm trying to set up new iMac. Can't get past welcome screen!!

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • How can I speed up the Welcome Screen on Illustrator CC 2014?

I have updated to Illustrator CC 2014.
I find that the welcome screen takes a long time to load. It is far from convenient.
Is there anything I can do to speed up the welcome screen?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    System info:
    OS: Windows 7
    CPU: Xeon 3.2GHZ
    RAM:16GB
    System : 64bit

    Hi ImmerTech,
You can disable the welcome screen permanently by following below steps if you are on mac machine other wise scroll down to bottom
and check the option  "Don't Show Welcome Screen Again".
    Go to Applications/Adobe Illustrator CC 2014/Adobe Illustrator.app
When you get to "Adobe Illustrator.app" you have to hold down the Control key
The Control key reveals, among other options, "Show Package Contents" Select that, and then the "Contents>MacOS>CEP>extensions" folder and removed "com.illustrator..welcome" folder.
    Hope this helps.

  • PSE 7 Welcome Screen startup options and turning off the advertising

The PSE 7 Welcome Screen no longer provides a start-up option for bypassing it and going directly to the Organizer or Editor. In addition, many people are annoyed by the advertising for Photoshop.com on the Welcome Screen and by the constant flashing tips in the lower right corner of the Organizer and Editor.
    Here are some workarounds:
Create shortcuts directly to the Organizer and Editor. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to
    > C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0
Find the file PhotoshopelementsEditor.exe, right-click it, and select Create Shortcut. You can then drag the shortcut to your desktop or the Start Menu. Alternatively, you can right click photoshopelementseditor.exe and click Pin To Start Menu, which will place a shortcut on the Windows Start menu. Do the same thing for the file PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe.
Turn off the advertising on the Welcome Screen. By turning off the advertising, you can still use the Welcome Screen to get to the Organizer, the Editor, Photoshop.com, and the tutorials. Use Windows Explorer to set the permissions of
    >C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Welcome Screen Pods
to deny Read & execute for Everyone (The path is a little different on XP.)
Turn off the flashing tips on the lower right corner of the Organizer and Editor. Use Windows Explorer to set the permissions of
    >C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Messaging Pods
to deny Read & execute for Everyone. (The path is a little different on XP.)

    You said -----------
Turn off the flashing tips on the lower right corner of the Organizer and Editor. Use Windows Explorer to set the permissions of
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Messaging Pods to deny Read & execute for Everyone. (The path is a little different on XP.)
I am using XP and the path to the folder is as follows:
    C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\Locale\en_US\Messaging Pods
However, I can't figure out how to "set the permissions". Is this possible in XP? Could someone please elaborate.
I am only interested in changing the tips (in the lower right corner that lead you to photoshop.com) in the Editor, since I do not use the Welcome Screen or Organizer.
    Thanks,
    Ken

  • Photoshop CS3 Windows XP Welcome Screen How to redisplay it?

Ok I realize this is a very newbie question and I am sure there is a very easy answer but I looked in the help menu and the knowledge base to no avail.
I stupidly checked the "Don't show again" box on the Welcome Screen in Photoshop CS3 thinking I could redisplay it later easily, however, I am not finding how to do it. I figured it would be like my Illustrator CS3 and be in the help > welcome screen but it isn't.
I'd kinda like to have it redisplay on start up for Photoshop. Please help me to "undo" a blonde moment mistake. Thank you for your time and I hope you had a good laugh at my expense.;) I would laugh but I'm too frustrated for not figuring this out. :)

I hope I don't sound condescending... I just want to understand the issue, so maybe I can help.... but do you mean Photoshop CS2 or CS, perhaps?
My 2nd thought was that you were trying to open CS3's splash screen after Photoshp was loaded; but that has no "Don't show again" prompt, so that can't be it...
Last thought: do you have *both* Photoshop CS3 and CS2 (or CS) installed? It's the only thing I can think of that may be causing confusion, as I have personally mixed up options / features between them when I had them all installed. (Until recently, I had
all versions of Photoshop from 7 to CS3 Extended installed at the same time!) :P
Don't ask me why. I am a digital packrat. :p
    edit: one more thing...
You mentioned Illustrator CS3 having this welcome screen feature, and that its help file shows a way to restore it. I don't have Illustrator CS3; but it sounds like this version of Illustrator still uses the welcome screen, though its Photoshop counterpart doesn't. ;)

  • Windows xp stops on welcome screen

when restarting my new S9E netbook windows stops on the welcome screen. I then have to use the shutdown to physically restart , this someimes needs to be done twice. I am running XP Sp. Any ideas?

Hi, are you shure that you dont intermitted the recover procedure...
severel restarts looks like windows is ready, but isnt ...its in self reinstall all things automatic, drivers and so on...
you have to wait ....till the microsoft XP music starts and waiting for the first input by user...
    if you dont intermitted ,
at normal case rescue & recover set all drivers ...thats what it work for...no manual driver settings...
    in that case
must be an hardware failure...(harddrive or memory can caused this)
    best ...call for service or
where you bought it...for change or repair..

I've just purchased a new 2014 15" MacBookPro to replace my much missed 17" MBP. I got the works: OS 10.9.4, 2.8GHz Intel i7, 16GB memory and a 1 TB SSD, but despite the expense, I still don't have a computer that works...
The problem is that every time I try to open any program from Office 2011, I immediately get the following window, for example for Word: "Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." This happens each and every time I try to open Word or other Office 2011 component.
Thinking it might be a licensing issue, I purchased and downloaded a new copy of Office 2011 from Amazon and installed it on my new MBP. Same issue once again.
I tried to remove all copies of Office 2011 from the MBP, but the instructions provided by Microsoft required about three page and seventeen steps and the page was somehow corrupted and would not print in its entirety, nor would it e-mail as anything other than a link to the corrupted page. Not trusting my memory, I decided not to try this without adult supervision.
I used Disk Utility to repair Disk Permissions, as described on an existing thread regarding the same problem, but to no avail.
I removed and later replaced the "Microsoft User Data" folder from the Documents folder, but that was no help.
I have copied the short version of the "Microsoft Error Reporting log version: 2.0," below, for those of you with a deeper knowledge of the internal workings, or non-workings of things Mac when crossed with things MS.

Surely others have encountered and solved this same problem, and I'm hoping they can help me do the same. I don't know if this is a known issue or simply a matter of my having bumbled naively through a process far more complex than I was led to believe.
