New 3510s not presenting LUNs correctly.

Whoops! I originally posted this on the Other Sun Hardware forum, but this is definitely the more appropriate place.
I just attached four new 3510s to a server that already has a 3510 attached. They each have their own connection to the server, so there is no daisy-chaining going on. The server sees the old 3510 as a 3510 with each LUN properly presented as 3510s of the correct sizes.
The new 3510s, however, are not identifying themselves as 3510s, nor are they presenting the logical disks in their correct sizes. Instead each LUN (consisting of no less than 2-disk, RAID 0s) is showing up like single, 146GB drives! They're not even displaying StorEdge3510 in the disk type when I run format! It's as though the new 3510s are presenting themselves as JBODs (of incorrect sizes, no less) instead of 3510s with controllers!
The new 3510s were upgraded to the latest firmware (4.15G) before any RAIDs were created and given four logical disks, each in a RAID 0 configuration, made of 2 disks (~290 GB), 3 disks (~435 GB), 3 disks (~435 GB), and 4 disks (~580 GB). This is different from our original 3510 which has all of the disks in a RAID 5 with two partitions. (The original 3510 is running firmware 4.13C.)
When I run format, the server sees each of the 16 LUNs. (I verified this by taking some LUNs offline, which then showed up in format as "disk format undetermined" or something like that.) So, the server definitely sees the LUNs, but the 3510 is not showing them in their correct size nor is the disk name reflecting that it's a 3510. That tells me that the 3510 is not presenting itself properly, but it responds without a problem to sccli and appears to be configured properly.
I tried creating a logical partition inside one of the 2-disk, logical disks and presented that as a LUN. No dice. It still showed up as a non-3510, 146GB disk. I tired making a logical volume and presented that. Same thing -- a non-3510, 146GB disk was presented.
With the exception of the different firmware versions and using RAID 0 instead of RAID 5, I can't see any difference between the configuration between the two 3510s. Any ideas what I could be missing with the new ones? Could firmware 4.15G be bad? I really would like to get this resolved by this weekend.

It's what would normally be in a JBOD - what would be the equivalent of FC2 and FC3. In fact, I took it out as a test at which point the 3510 complained about losing temperature and redundancy modules! So, it's not ignoring the JBOD controller.
But It gets better! I rebuit one of those 3-disk, RAID 0 logical drives as RAID 5. Not only is the 3510 building that RAID 5 now, but look at how format is presenting the LUNs now!

And according to the 3510 Best Practices manual on page 23, having the JBOD panel in the other slot appears to be acceptable even if there is nothing attached to it.
But considering how differently the 3510 is treating the RAID 5 compared to the RAID 0, something is defintely not right here.

  • New 5508 not handing our correct IP address Scope to LClients

Just inserted a new 5508 WLC into the network. We current have 3 4404 WLCs, and there was a need to duplicate, as much as possible, the configurations on the 4404s, and the design. The 5508 came online as expected. We moved a few access points over to it. The APs got the correct address range. The clients are expected to get addresses in the same scope range as the APs. However, the clients are receiving addresses in the management IP scope.
I know there are two "not a good way to do it" in here. Why is the management address range in the DHCP scope, and why are the clients using the same scope as the APs. We are going to change that. For now, the AP and client in the same range has been going on since we rolled out wireless in 2006.
The 8 ports on the 5508 are configured for LAG. There is no dedicated port for management. They tell me not to do that on a 5508.
Anyone got any ideas? I am suspecting bridging is the issue. Have no idea where to look or what to do.
    Thank you for your feedback....

Do you have DHCP proxy disabled ?
    CONTROLLER->ADVANCE->DHCP
If proxy is enabled the wlc will unicast the dhcp request on behalf of your wireless client from the dynamic interface the client is on.
If proxy is diabled, all normal wired side rules apply. A ip helper would be required on the SVI of the subnet the guest are on.

  • Adding new attribute to Master data - Not present in ECC

    Hi,
We want to add a new field in the master data object 0plant. the new field is not present in the R/3 side. So we are planning to maintain it manually.
Is it feasible? Can someone explain how to approach the situation?
Since it is not going to come in Process chain or any of the mappings below InfoObject will the process chains work properly?
    Regards

    Hi
if you cant impliment any logic you cam maintani it mannually.
First add attribute to master data object and activate.
Do master data load if required.
Then right click on materdata addtribute and manage -> content tab -> Content
display complete data and you can maintain attribute values individually for all ercords one by one (will be pain even for 100 records).
another alternative is of doing file upload for this attribute.

    Hi Murthy,
II have no idea what patch level you are on. A while back we had similar issues with some clients. There are several patches around that area available. Perhaps you should have a look into patch 959732.
    Hope that helps.

  • My new ipad photos are not in the correct albums

Ok so I got the new iPad, and transferred everything including my photos from my iPad 2 backup. I have about 600 pictures divided into 7 folders. After syncing, I looked at the photos and saw that the pictures are on my iPad but not in the correct folders.
For example, say I've got a Pets folder, Wallpapers folder and Personal folder. Those folders are on my iPad.  On my computer, the Pets folder only has pictures of my dog, the wallpaper folder only has some background images, etc. on my iPad the pictures are all jumbled up. When I click on the Pets folder, there will be a few pet pictures, a few wallpapers and a few personal photos. Same for the other folders.
I tried resyncing from the backup and resyncing not from the backup. All with the same result. I also checked the folder I'm syncing from on the computer, and the photos are all in the right place there.
Kind of frustrating. Ever heard of this before and is there a solution?

Well I fixed it, accidentally on my own. My pictures were still jumbled up. I had to save another picture from the Internet onto my camera roll, BAM, suddenly all of my photos shifted into their correct folders.
Somehow Saving another picture fixed whatever the error was. In any case, thanks for the help everyone. If anyone else has this issue, try saving another photo to your camera roll.

  • "You do not have the correct role to perform this function" on New Site

I have created a new site where I added fwadmin to all roles. When I login to Admin for this site I get the "You do not have the correct role to perform this function" error. I've read the manual and retired adding the user to all roles. I also looked at the Asset Types and I get "Error in evaluation;Error in configuration" when trying to enable.
Please point me to where I am going wrong, or where in the manual (and which manual) I can find help.
    Regards,
    John

    Hi John -
When you're provisioning users for sites, you have to
    1) enable the app for your site
    2) specify the roles that pertain to your app
    3) assign a user to the site
    4) assign a user roles for the site
If you miss any one of these, you can get this error. When you see "Error in Evaluation; Error in Configuration", however, especially during the out-of-the-box apps, please report a bug to support. That message is basically the XML scripting language equivalent of an uncaught exception, and it should not happen in the UI.

am now stuck as the Step 3 shows "Local Machine not present in local configuration store"

    Hi Dee McClanahan,
I suggest you should check whether or not the names are spelled correctly in the topology builder.
If this is not the case, I suggest you can create and publish a new topology.
To remove the published entry run:
    remove-CsConfigurationStoreLocation
In addition, I’m a little confused about what you say “Pool consists of Lync Server and SharePoint Server.”
Do you mean that you installed Lync Server and SharePoint Server on the same box ?
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • Watch/Monitor Buttons do not show the correct state

I programmed several Watch buttons on SPA500 module and some buttons stay lit red even though the phones are not used.  When pressing the button it does call the Vacant phone.
How can I fix the state to be correct and only be lit red when the corrsponding phone is used?

    Hi Guys,
    Was this problem ever resolved?
I am having the same issue. Cisco CME on 2851 router. We have several Cisco 7970 IP Phones all provisioned at the same time, and all working fine. I have a 7914 module monitoring the phones and one is showing as off hook. (BLF -1).
The phone that is showing offhook is ephone 7, it is being monitored by ephone 4. I have done factory reset, firmware upgrade, reset and everything recommended above but still having the issue. The red light indicates that the phone is offhook or not present although it is cleary registered to the CME.
You can see from the show ephone register below (ephone 4 is monitoring ephone 7) that ephone 7 is showing as offhook when it is not and is also registered and working. It shows:
    button 33: cw:1 ccw:(0 0)
      dn 22 number 122 CH1   IDLE         CH2   IDLE         watch(BLF on phone -1) shared with monitor-ring
I have attached config and tftp debug below. If any one can shed some light it would be much appreciated.

  • Power Keyboard battery is not present

My power keyboard battery is not present. nokia SD-42
Moderator's Note: The subject was changed as we have created a new thread for this topic.

Hi, mananah_Lumia. To verify, you received the Nokia Power Keyboard without a battery, is that correct? If so, where did you purchase it and did you inform them about it? If we got you wrong, feel free to correct us. We look forward to your reply. Good day!

  • "media not present" error when burning blu ray in PE12

I have two systems, both ground-up builds, identical Win 7 Home Premium and Premiere Elements 12 installs.  Both systems have internal blu-ray burners.  One burner is an ASUS BW-12B1AT and the other is a Pioneer burner (don't recall the model number).
System 1:  Intel 4770k with Gigabyte MB
System 2: AMD 8-core with Gigabyte MB
System 1 gives "Media not present" error in PE12 when attempting to burn to blu ray discs using Verbatim discs. System is able to burn DVDs and CDs, and playback blu ray discs.  System is also capable of burning blu rays using Nero.
System 2 works fine - blu ray media is recognized instantly by PE12 when in the drive and burns blu rays perfectly.
I swapped the blu ray drives and SATA cables from System 1 and System 2 with the same result - this eliminated the drive manufacturer and cables from being the problem, as both drives worked perfectly in System 2 and neither worked in System 1.  I also tried different SATA ports and power supply taps on System 1 without any success.
Then, I noticed that on System 1, with the dialog box open and indicating the "media not present" error, if I ejected the blu ray disc and reinserted it, the burner LED would flash 18 times (approx. 1/sec) and then pulse briefly indicating a burst of activity for about 1 second, as if it was either reading the disc or writing to the SATA.  If I pressed the "rescan" button during this brief burst of LED activity, then the disc was recognized and I could proceed to burn it.    If I tried to press the rescan button at any time before this instant or after, the "media not present" error did not clear.
To me, this is an indication that something in the handshake timing of the SW and the burner is not correct, and that timing differences in the system HW are not provided for in the SW. I see that many others have had this issue and have had to buy work-around image burners to address this. I believe your burner drivers need to be reworked to eliminate this bug.  This is evidenced by the fact that Nero works and your SW does not, and that different systems consistently exhibit this problem.
Please let me know when you will have a SW patch to address this or if you have any idea of system settings that can be adjusted (I don't know of any myself) that would eliminate this problem.

This is not Adobe. Rather user to user. If you want to contact Adobe, your likely route is via Adobe Chat.
If you have a feature request or bug report, then consider filing a Adobe Feature Request Bug Report Forum with Adobe
Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
The likelihood of an Adobe engineer seeing your thread here is essentially slim to none.
Your results are very interesting but lots more variables to consider.
Do you have any version of Premiere Elements other than 12? It would be interesting to learn if a prior version's burn
dialog would present with the Media Not Preset issue for your burn to Blu-ray System 1. That is easy enough done with a tryout of
11 or 10 or 9 from the following web site. ProDesignTools: Adobe® Developments in Focus
On the other side of the coin, you could give the new version a look in this regard. A new version is expected at the
    end of September 2014.
As an aside, have you updated 12 to 12.1 Update, using an opened project's Help Menu/Update. If not, I would encourage
you to do so. It does correct an Expert workspace text styles issue plus other matters undefined by Adobe.

  • TIme  capsule is orange, not present in Airport Utility,

    Hi
I have been using my time capsule for backing up but today it is not present in Airport Utiltity, it is flashing orange as well.
Airport utility is searching for it but there's a message stating "no configured airport base stations have been found. airport utility will continue searching".
Under System preference >  TIme Machine > it states "back disc is not available" and when I click 'Select Disk', it is present under the heading "Backup Discs" but the only available button is "Remove Disk".  And, if I try to search for a new one, it cannot find it.
I would be very grateful if you would kindly help me.  I have tried switch the TC on and off at the wall, but this did not help…..Have checked with cable and all see ok.
    Thank you

How old and what model is the TC?
Have you checked in other devices.. ipad or iphone etc to see if the TC is running ok? Use the airport utility for iOS if you have igadgets.
Otherwise what OS is on the computer? Did you recently upgrade or update? 10.9.4 just went out and may cause some issues.
I have tried switch the TC on and off at the wall, but this did not help…..Have checked with cable and all see ok.
Excellent start. A full network reboot is also in order. Restart the whole network thusly.
    modem.. wait 2min..
    TC.. wait 2min..
    rest of the stuff.
Everything must boot from off, not sleep/standby.
    No luck. Follow these steps.
    1. Factory reset.
    The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
    Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
    2. Ensure ipv6 is turned on to link-local in the computer for both wireless and ethernet if you use it.
    eg wireless.
    3. Go to the airport utility. (or via the wifi icon in the top menu area). It will show a device ready for setup.
    Run through the setup wizard.
Please do not use the proffered names. eg Fred Blog's Airport Time Capsule (Wireless)
It is far too long.. it has spaces and it has illegal apostrophe.
Please use a base station name like TCgenx (I fill in x with the actual generation).. short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Please use a wireless name like TCwifi (I use TC24ghz and TC5ghz to keep the bands separate).
    Complete the Wizard.
    4. See if you can now mount the TC hard disk in Finder. If it fails, do it manually.
In the top menu  Go> Connect to Server.
Type in AFP://TCgenx.local (Replace with your actual name. Local is the domain name and can help)
    or
Type in AFP://10.0.1.1 (replace with the TC actual IP address .. that is the default when TC is router. This will only work when static though).
It will request your password. Type that in and store in the keychain.
    5. Reset TM and point it to the newly named TC.
See A4 here for more details.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
Do not worry if it shows it is going to start the whole backup. It will find the old backup once it starts. Nothing you are doing here will mess the original backups.
You are just correcting certain weaknesses is the network standards.
No luck post back with as much detail as possible.. modem, how the TC is connected to modem and computer, computer type and OS etc.

  • Reboot and select proper Boot Device on Satellite C55-B5200, odd not present

I have a new laptop barley used. I bought this back in August then bam in January it started giving me this error message "Reboot and select proper Boot Device".
I'd like to get this fixed so I can start using it again. I tried pressing f2 on restart and when it powers up it says
    CPU/SSD: HGST HTS545050A7E380
    ODD: NOT PRESENT
    SYSTEM DATE: 1/16/2015
on Satellite C55-B5200, odd not present
Is there something specific I should do to get this running again?

it started giving me this error message "Reboot and select proper Boot Device".
It is not finding or communicating with the hard drive to boot, most of the time it is a bad hard drive or bios is not set correctly for the operating system.
f2 to enter the bios then f9 to set bios to the defaults, then f10 to save - then try to start.
What you are saying the bios reads is wierd?
    CPU/SSD: HGST HTS545050A7E380 -- that is the hard drive: HGST Travelstar Z5K500 HTS545050A7E380 (0J11285) 500GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 2.5" Internal Notebook Hard Drive.

  • When I open a new link or bookmark I want it to open in a new window not a slew of tabs so I can see which sites I have open.

I'm sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology. When I open a new window or a link I want it to open a whole new window so I have 500 open FireFox tabs in my taskbar if I open that many windows. I do not like having everything open in one window. Used to be I could find how to undo that but you changed everything on me and now only rocket scientists can use your application. If Chrome and Internet Explorer weren't so ridiculous, I would change. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

This didn't help me at all. I want a separate window to open each time I open a new tab or bookmark. Currently when I open a new link it just adds a tab to the window already open so from my non-technie point of view, I only have one window open and have to go up top to see what is open vs. being able to look below in my taskbar and see what I have open.
