New 3G/GPS Driver - How to install?

There is a new driver for the Option GTM382 module out at http://www.option.com/en/support/software-download/modules/gtm382e. I wasn't able to install it through device manager. Does anyone here have an idea how it could work?

I was able to install them using the Device Manager.
Right-click on each of the devices that reference Option (com ports and so on). Select Update driver software and browse to the folder with the unzipped .inf files.
You probably tried this but I thought I'd post anyway for others who are looking for the topic.
Have a good one!

  • Installing New Primary Hard Drive: How Best to Transfer all Data?

    Hello fellow Apple'rs,
    I own a Dual 2.3 GHz PowerPC G5 running OS 10.4.11.
I am ready to swap out the original 250MB internal hard drive for a larger one (1TB HD Seagate Barracuda 7200.12) and transfer my data over. I'm unclear the best way to do this.
The OS, as well as my docs, and applications all reside on my main older 250MB drive (I’ll refer to it as ‘Drive A’). I want to transfer them onto the new 1TB drive.
For backup I’ve been using a program called _Synchronize! Pro X_. I have all the data from Drive A backed up to my G5’s second internal HD (this second drive is a bootable backup and I’ll refer to it as ‘Drive B’). I was planning to remove Drive B and install the new 1TB drive ([I’ll refer to this as 'Drive C') in its place in the computer bay. Once Drive C is installed, then I plan to do the transfer from Drive A to Drive C. Afterwards, I’ll remove Drive A permanently and install Drive B in its place, whereupon Drive B will continue to be used as the primary backup HD (now obviously backing up the new main Drive C).
The mechanical installation should be no problem, but I’m unclear what the best method is of transferring over the OS and all my files and applications from Drive A to Drive C. Of concern is that the creation date of all my files are preserved and also that the links to all my aliases are maintained after the transfer. I once did a transfer between Powerbooks and only discovered at a later date that the creation date for ALL my files had changed to the date of the transfer! A huge loss for me.
Any suggestions how to best effect this and to maintain all integrity and attributes of the original files? Should I just do a straight ‘drag and drop’ copy onto Drive C? Or, is using Synchronize! Pro X a good method of doing this (I’ve fortunately never had cause to actually restore data with Synchronize! Pro X so I’m uncertain of how it performs). Conversely, should I be looking at other software to do this (I can’t really afford money outlay for new software at present)?
Is it best to just copy everything over or is it best to re-install the OS and applications? I want to maintain all my OS settings and also want to minimize the labor involved in the swap.
One last thought: this computer runs noticeably slower than when I first purchased it in 2006. As I am now starting with a fresh HD, is there anything I can vis-à-vis the transfer improve performance?
Thanks a bunch for any advice or observations!

This last post raises the question: does it matter which HD bay (upper or lower slot) the new Drive C is installed in?
I know the startup disc is selected in System preferences, but is there a reason to chose one slot over the other (ex., startup sequence in the event of system boot problems, etc.)?
I'm slightly delayed in effecting the new HD installation.
There are a few items in my system organization that I've uncovered and wish to resolve (then do a fresh backup) before doing the HD swap. I notice my 'Documents' folder, which contains most of my personal files, is located in my 'MUSIC' folder(!) and it is different from my user 'Document' folder (the latter has the 'folded corner paper icon' located in my home folder. The Document folder in my user home folder has non of my personal files, but instead has a few application support files of some sort.
I may need to inquire in the OS section of this forum.
Also, I'd like to rethink, and get some opinions, regarding my HD functions, i.e., how best to organize either whole drives and/or partitions for the OS, virtual memory(?), apps, docs, Photoshop scratch disc to maximize performance and stability.

  • New internal hard drive-- how to restore?

(sorry if this in the wrong forum)
I installed a new hard drive in my macbook and put my old hard drive in an external enclosure. So far, I have been able to boot the macbook from the external hard drive-- my old drive. I have formatted the new internal drive, but I can't figure out how to restore everything that was on my old drive onto my new one. I have tried using disk utility's restore function, but it won't let me select a restore destination. Is the best way to do this to use the restore discs that came with my macbook? If I go that route, can I then just copy all my applications over? What about all of my settings? What's the easiest way of doing this? Please let me know... thanks.
Also, is there any way I can partition my new hard drive and use BootCamp since I had it on my old hard drive? I understand that BootCamp is no longer available as a download for Tiger users, so is there anything I can do to move my copy of BootCamp from my old drive to my new one?

You can Partition the new drive how you like, just so the partitions are equal to or larger than the old ones.
Best way to get an exact bootable copy of your old drive to the new one is with Carbon Copy Cloner...

  • New Internal Hard Drive and Clean Install: Errors, Frustration and Hopelessness

    First Off:
Macbook 13" (late 2009) ... It was running Mountain Lion 10.8.5 with 2 gigs of memory and 160gig stock hard drive.
I started this process almost a week ago and despite numerous attempts every night I have had no luck. I appologize if the details here are fuzzy, my head is spinning after reading dozens of threads and attempting multiple solutions to each error I've received and i cant remember everything I've tried so far...
I got my new memory in the mail first, upgraded to 4 gigs and everything works fine with that..
Next came my new Seagate Momentus 750 gb 7200 rpm SATA 3gb/s 16Mb Internal Hard Drive.
Using this guide: http://osxdaily.com/2012/02/17/make-bootable-os-x-10-8-mountain-lion-usb-install -drive/ (and cross checking other guides) I ended up creating a bootable external drive using my 160gb External Firewire drive for my clean install to my new hard drive. So far so good.
I then shut down the computer, removed the old internal hard drive, installed the new, restarted the computer holding option key and booted up using the External Hard Drive, and the install software started fine. Note: I have attempted to re-erase the drive so many times without luck that I cant remember if I actually successfully erased the drive originally to begin with the installation, but either way I started the OSX reinstall and it got almost all the way finished before it gave me the error message:
"Install failed. Mac OS X Lion couldn’t be installed, because the disk (volume name) is damaged and can’t be repaired. Click restart to restart your computer and try installing again."
restarting of course did nothing, it repeatedly gave me error messages and made me quit installation...
Disk Utility isnt getting me anywhere, im either getting errors like:
"POSIX reports: the operation couldnt be completed. device no configured"
it wont allow me to erase the drive or partition the drive
"Disk Erase failed with the error: File System Formatter Failed"
and everytime the drive fails to erase or partition, it disappears from the list of drives on the left of the disk utility screen and i have to restart the computer for it to reappear for a second try. Typically the volume under the drive is greyed out and says that it is unmounted.
Ive zapped the PRAM.... and Ive done other things that I cant quite remember right now because my brain is boiling from reading too many **** threads on multiple devices....
    halp.
    halp me plase.

    So funny story...
While writing this discussion I had to come to the computer and try to erase the drive so I could see the error code for reference. The erase didnt work as usual but I wrote the error code down here.
I also could not remember the error code for partitioning the drive so I attempted that as well so I could write down the code, and this time it magically partitioned successfully! The only thing I did differently was that I didn't rename the partition because i figured it wouldn't matter anyway. Since the partition was successful, I attempted the Reinstall of ML and it magically worked!!
I dont know what the **** happened but ive been attempting this install every night for like 3 hours since Monday and this is the first time it went through... for no apparent reason?
    Ghosts? Magic? Full Moon?
    we may never know...
    Thanks anyways guys!

  • I erased my main drive: how to install Mavericks?

I was running Yosemite Beta on my iMac, but it was acting funny. A dialog told me to back it up and erase and reinstall. I copied the internal drive to a FireWire drive as a clone. Then I booted from the firewire drive. Then I did something very stupid. I erased my main drive, my internal Macintosh HD. I thought I would be able to reinstall the Yosemite beta on my main drive after I booted But now I can't boot up all the way from either of my FireWire drives, which have the proper software on them; they were cloned from the original drive, and worked until I erased the main drive. The boot up process stops about a minute into the process. So how do I get a copy of at least Lion or Mountain Lion or Mavericks on to the main drive? I'm stuck. I don't know how to do that.

Oh, they're clones. Made them with SuperDuper. They boot, but they stopped after I erased the Macintosh HD.
I've found a way to make them boot again, however. I tried safe boot, single user, netboot -- no deal. I found a cd copy I made of Lion, way back, and tried to see if it would mount -- of course it didn't -- but I just tried one more time, went to make coffee, and returned to my first computer screen in two days. It's still kind of working. I wonder if the ROM in my 24", 2.66 Ghz, iMac 9,1, just can't accept a bare drive on the internal bus. Or, it seems that there is something wrong with the drive. I get this message in the Crash log every minute or so.
Oct 15 15:11:35 James-Hassingers-iMac-3.local coreduetd[45]: CoreData: error: (11) Fatal error.  The database at /var/db/CoreDuet/coreduetd.db is corrupted.  SQLite error code:11, 'database disk image is malformed'

       NSFilePath = "/var/db/CoreDuet/coreduetd.db";
       NSSQLiteErrorDomain = 11;
Doesn't sound very good. I'm wondering if I've just gotten a lot of bad sectors. But I'd love to just do an iFixit on it, put in a new 1 TB drive -- I'm not bad with these projects -- and then go from there.

  • Macbook retina has no CD drive - how to install Windows??

I have the new Macbook 15" retina and I'm trying to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp, but I just realized there is no CD/DVD drive on this model to insert the Windows disc. How to I install Windows and the drivers???

I am not 100% sure, but the retina mbp is the only new MBP that allows booting fron an external DvD drive.
If it will not boot directly, use another computer to make an ISO file (on USB) from the Windows CD and use that one to install Windows. The OS10.7 and 10.8 Bootcamp can not handle XP only 7 and 8.

  • Replacing Hard Drive - How to install windows 8.1

    Hi,
I have an HP Envy dv6 with a 1TB hard drive. The thing is that i'm thinking of buying a 256 SSD to configure as primary disk and the current HDD as second. My question is: when installing the SSD, how can I install windows 8.1 and use my original windows key?
I've searched in the battery and on the back of my laptop and I couldn't find the serial number. Some people says that is its embeded in the motherboard and when windows is installed it automatically recognize the serial. But my main concern is how can I get a Windows 8.1 version to install. Should I download an .iso from any internet site? how can I know that that version is compatible with my serial number?
    Thanks a lot

Hi Jackcabad. Thanks for the answer. I think this solves most of my concerns but I still can't figure out where is my w8 serial number stored and how can i know it. Can you provide information on that?
    Thanks!

  • Replacing The Hard Drive, How To Install The OS Again?

Hi all again! Sorry for posting so many questions.
I have a macbook pro late 2011 model. I want to replace the hard drive with an SSD drive but I am not too familiar with Mac products. My question is... do I just take out the old hard drive and put the new one in? Is there a CD with the Max OS on it that I could then use to install the OS onto the new drive?
    Thanks!

There are a large number of DIY's, HowTo's and the like on the subject, may want to search a bit.
If you re comfortable to the layout and content  of the current internal drive, the quick & dirty would be:
Get an external enclosure for the new drive.
Connect/power up, then use Disk Utility to prep the drive for Mac use: GUID partition scheme & Apple Extended (Journaled).
Use Disk Utility or CarbonCopyCloner to clone the internal volume onto the external.
Test to ensure all is well.
    Swap drives when ok.

  • Moving to a new PC and drive--how to retain ALL images and data in LR? (XP Pro)

I've seen a few tutorials that discuss methods for saving or transferring images between drives. Unfortunately, they always contain caveats that you will lose virtual copies, etc.
I store all my images on an external HDD. I have a single library. Everything is in RAW, off my D200.
I have the actual lightroom program installed as expected--on an internal HD (the C: drive). I'm running XP Pro.
I would like to stop using this current PC for lightroom, and install the program on my new (much faster) computer. I'd like to preserve all of my data.
Can anyone advise me if this is possible? Or am i doomed to lose all of my collections, ratings, virtual copies, yadda yadda yadda?
    Thanks,
    Erik

Isn't there an export Catalog option from the file menu in LR? I've never done it before myself, but it may be what you are looking for... I exported to an new folder, and it tells me that I have for example, 1259 photos and 2 virutal copies... and appears to even copy the previews... I assume you then just copy that exported catalog, and its previews to a folder on your new computer, and you're set to go once you load that catalog into LR.
It even can copy the "negatives" or actual image files so they can be transferred easily as well, but since your images on external drive, you may wish to uncheck that option.
