New 3g nano... will only show apple...

I have an ipod classic that works fine. i just purchased an ipod 3g nano for my sister. we tried hooking it up to my mac to load songs on it, but all it will do is flash an apple on the screen (and it will only do that when it is plugged in to the computer). initially when i plugged it into the computer, it was recognized and we started registering it, but were not able to finish at the time. when we came back it said we needed to restart registering so i ejected it and plugged it back in, but it was not recognized. when the nano is not plugged in, it will not show anything at all. and when it is plugged in to the computer it will only flash the apple screen. I have tried resetting it, but that does nothing.... any other suggestions or do i just need to send it in for a replacement?

Did you try using apple's troubleshooting assistant to resolve your problem? Make sure you've updated your IPOD to latest SW version (4.1) B4 you do that. Since you say your IPOD works fine when powered off your computer, my thought is there may be something wrong w/your battery which may just need to be replaced. If running troubleshooting assistant doesn't solve your issue you may want to take to apple's genius bar & have them ID problem.

Itunes will only show apple tv as device, but itunes won't show some tabs

when apple tv is connected to my laptop, itunes will show the device but the screen won't show some of the tabs like: info, or music, it does show: summary, photos. What is wrong with itunes not showing the apple tv device source tabs?

Hello Nate, thanx for the solution but that also doesn't worked for me and to name it - I am not willing to disable my firewall to get something running that worked before the atv 2.4 and itunes update - same with my network settings - after trying static IPs I returned to DHCP - so if there are friends in my network they don't need to adjust anything at their devices! And I am not working with WLAN - just simple cable - good, fast and save!
My atv has a static MAC-Address isn't it an easy thing for a software to search for it? I am willing to enter it in itunes if I could but I can't!
The whole software programming seems not to be very buggy and insufficent to me!
e.g.
1) The atv reboot-function on the atv-remote with pressing - and menu for 5 seconds always gets me the fancy question mark - so the only real reboot is pulling the plug,
2) On itunes I can test my network, my iphone and my ipod (which I don't have) but why can't I test my apple tv connection?
3) Sometimes I had the problem that I have to sync some content (music and videos) more than one time to be accepted from the atv - even if it was mp3 and mp4 - but that's not a problem anymore while there is not any sync for the atv
It seems to me that I am forced to enable SSH or FTP-connect so I can get rid of itunes!

My ipod touch 4G will only show apple logo, and can't be turned on and off?

It eventually runs out of battery but that doesn't change anything. All i can do is hold down the power and home screen button simultaneosly for a while. After this it flashes white then black then back to logo. Anyone know what to do? I plug it into my computer and it doesn't show up or anything. Any suggestions? my itouch hasen't had problems before or anything.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

How to recover from frozen iPhone that will only show apple logo?

my iphone 3gs has frozen up. i turned it off for a flight today and when i turned it on to listen to some music the apple logo comes up and never goes away. also, when i got home to attempt a synch to itunes and to see if a synch would fix the problem, neither the computer (windows) nor itunes will recognize the phone. i have attempted to reboot it several times, i rebooted the computer, i removed the SIM card and reinserted it and nothing is resolving this problem. any ideas or proposed solutions?

Try a hard shut down by holding the power button down (one on top) and the home screen button down at the same time. After 5-10 seconds the phone should shut off.
After that wait a bit and try and restart.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

Tried again as you suggested - no luck. Ref sequence below
A. Pressed menu & down to reset Apple TV
B after reset & restart pressed menu & up buttons to change resolution. After pressing both buttons for 6 sec, LED starts flashing - released both buttons. TV screen blank. After 20 to 30 sec horizontal lines came on screen remained for 20 sec then screen again went blank. Waited for couple minutes. LED still flashing - pressed Menu button for 2/3 sec - flashing stopped & LED glows continuously. Screen blank
C. Reset the unit again by pressing menu & down. When it restarted - while LED was still flashing, got orange color screen with Apple logo in the middle. This screen remained till LED stopped flashing & then screen went blank

Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
However it appears that no playlists or any other info such as ratings/last played etc will transfer.
If this is important to you, you may want to use other options.
There's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod to iTunes.
Once the music from your iPod is in your new iTunes library, you can go about adding new music as you did previously.

My ipod video will only show the apple sign

i got a 30 gb ipod video from someone because they cant get it to work. he said if i could get it to work i could have it so i bought a charger and plugged it into the computer. it said very low battery please wait right at first and had a little circle thing that showed it was loading. now it will only show an apple sign on the screen no matter what i had it plugged in over night i tried reseting it but it just went right back to showing the apple sign is there anything else i can do without sending it to apple because it is not under warranty anymore.

I'm having some issues with my messages, text and iMessage. When I receive a message it will only show the last one sent from that person, even if they have sent me multiple texts. I am then not able to see the rest of the conversation until I send a response back. Even then the message takes longer to send than when messages is working properly. I've tried resetting and restarting the phone and it is still doing the same thing. It has done this in the past and restarting the phone usually worked, but I recently did the latest software update and it is now doing this consistently. Anyone have any similar issues or ideas to maybe try and fix it?

If you are having an issue with your iPhone only showing the most recent message of a conversation in the Messages application, and you have already tried restarting and resetting the iPhone, the next thing to try would be to back up any data on the iPhone, erase it and set it up as a new device. FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.
