Can it be changed?
I slowed the arrow speed down, that did not help.
The problem appears to be that when I scroll over a link or item it either goes to the link or opens a box to request an action be taken.
If this is normal does the magic mouse have the same sensitivity?

Look in System Preferences - Trackpad for the settings, if you find it too sensitive then you should uncheck the "Tap to Click" box.

Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4 and later.
You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the about:config page.
browser.gesture.pinch.in -> cmd_fullZoomReduce

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

My brand new iMac track pad reverted to a system preference option that doesn't allow gestures to work or be restored, any suggestions?

I purchased a brand new IMac 21 inch a few weeks ago and restored it to my macbook pro. A few days later the gestures on the track pad stopped working. After listening to the advice of apple support and wasting a number of hours without success, I decided to restore the computer to new and start fresh. The outcome was the track pad worked just fine. I noticed the system preferences track pad choice provided options that I didn't have before. All worked fine and of course from their I migrated apps and documents from my time machine. a few days later I plugged my ipod in and noticed the track pad was not working.
Having spent another two hours with apple support, they concluded they would call me back as they agreed that the system preferences setup for the trackpad had reverted to an older version.
I am not certain if migrating the apps folder had anything to do with this and am waiting to hear back. I am tempted to restore the machine to new again and see if that restores the track pad system preferences. If it does I will avoid migrating any files to see how long the track pad works. I have my docs, photos, and other critical folders backed up individually on a separate drive. Let me know if anyone has experienced a similar problem. Thanks!

Have you tried all of these?
1. Pressing the Eject key while opening the iMac.
2. Pressing the Eject key while closing down the iMac.
3. Holding down the Option key while restarting the iMac.
4. Using Disk Utility to try to Mount, Repair and Eject the disk.
5. Holding down the Mouse while restarting the iMac.
6. Pressing the O and F keys while closing down the iMac.
7. Opened Applications > Utilities >Terminal and typed in 'drutil tray eject'.

Track pad too sensitive

My track pad is unpredictably sensitive. Often it will highlight lots of items instead of the one I select the "feel" is different, not feeling like it has "clicked". Other times a selection box will appear for no apparent reason

Go to system preferences, trackpad, and turn off the "tap to click" option.
Everything else will still work the same. You now just push a little harder when you want to actuall "click" on something.
This completely resolved the issue for me.

Track pad not sensitive enough

My Macbook alum has been working well for the last year or two. Within the last couple months, the track pad has become increasingly less sensitive...clicking on it does not always invoke a selection as intended even when a clear click sound is heard. I find i need to click much harder than standard use to get it to respond.
I checked the control panel and played around with the settings several times with no improvement.

I had the same problem, clicking with the track pad became unbearably bad, it wasn't sensitive at all.
I found that if you take off the bottom and remove the battery on the track pad there is a screw, its a triangle shape.
Tightening that screw raised the trackpad (slightly, don't over do it) and by tightening that screw the trackpad's clicking came back to normal.
Free fix, worth a shot. Don't strip the screw though...

Apple track pad very slow connecting after sleep

I have a late 2009 iMac (11,1) running10.10.1. It is very slow (5 to 35 seconds) connecting to my Apple trackpad whether I am logged in when I put the iMac to sleep or whether no one is logged in. I have run EtreCheck and am including the output. I would appreciate anyone offering advice on what to do to get my trackpad to connect quickly.

Try the basics first:
   Change your router channel number. Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apple’s routers. Wait for everything to reboot.

On your ipad goto Settings> then tap on Mail Contacts& Calendars, scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen and turn on "Share Calendar Alerts"

Track pad very irratic while using power adaptor

Using a 65 watt power adaptor on my Macbook Air, which requires only 45 watts. Charges the batter fine, but I cannot use the trackpad while it's plugged in, unplug it and it works fine. Extrememly annoying.

Does the trackpad operate correctly using the MBA 45W power adapter?

New-look iCal harder to read? Can it be changed?

I noticed with the iCal in Lion that overlapping events automatically bring the shortest event to the front, the "longer" event behind it being only viewable through the other events. This same prioritisation (ie by shorter duration) is given regardless of calendar.
This is a real problem in "week" view, where one has multiple events and/or multiple calendars (a major "selling point" of iCal / MobileMe / Cloud). Its a touch easier in "Day" view, but still makes it tough to look at a multi-event-multi-calendar schedule. Hopefully the image I've appended demonstrates...
Thus:
I cannot easily read an event unless I open it for editing, if it is hidden behind other events/calendars
I cannot prioritise a calendar to the front (which was possible by just clicking on any of a particular calendar's events in pre-Lion iCal)
To make the view clear, one has to turn other calendars off - which rather defeats the object of multi-calendar-tasking.
Unless, of course, there is a setting which the community have found but I've not spotted yet? Help gratefully accepted!

To your first "problem", there is no solution that I know of, I haven't actually thought about it myself until you mentioned it now.
But the second one can easily be solved. This was one of the first things I changed on my computers.
Open up regedit and go to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\Launcher
Then create a new DWORD called DesktopAppsAllwaysLaunchNewInstance and give it a vaue of

Are there any provisions in place for overseas military not able to buy direct from Apple Store to get an option of a track pad instead of magic mouse when buying a new iMac? It seems that the new OS is going to NEED trackpad and magic mouse will moot

I AM A PASSIONATE APPLE USER. Please don't get me wrong. I love every Apple product we have. I am just a bit discouraged that as a person living and working overseas, I do not have the same opportunity to build my Mac to my specifications. I am bound to buying the products through the Exchange. I appreciate that they are carried but when I compare to the Store, I am discouraged that there are some FREE options offered to Stateside folks not offered to AAFES/Exchange consumers. I want a track pad instead of a mouse. It seems that is where Mac technology is headed. Lion will all but REQUIRE it for many of the new features coming! Apple should offer new purchasers the opportunity for a free upgrade to a track pad!

I recently adquired my Iphone and wanted to sync all my information with my Ipad, Iphone & Mack Book Pro, but I had an older vertion in my Mack Book Pro wich I adquired on 2011, in order to sync with I clowd I needed to upgrade to Lion, I did that and now I cant use my track pad and I can not watch videos in any page like Youtube etc.
What happened? What Can I do to solve this?

Use a wired mouse and hold commnad r keys and reboot, reinstall Lion again

Skin to protect and make track pad less slippery?

Anybody heard of a protective skin for the MacBook Pro (new 13 inch) track pad. Something like those silicon skins that you can put on your iPhone screen.
I am not actually looking to protect the trackpad, but I find it to be so smooth, that I am hoping there is something out there like the anti-glare cover for the iPhone. The Anti-Glare version has a slightly rough surface that provides a tiny bit of resistance (which I prefer).

My track pad is not working. The computer has been off for 10 days and I changed the batteries

Can someone help me with my iMac track pad? My computer has been off for 10 days and when I turned it on the curser will not move. The green light on the track pad would come on then off so i replaced the batteries in the track pad but it still does not work. Not sure if the grandchildren were on it over the holidays could something be locked on the keyboard?

1. Make sure that battery is in normal condition.
2. Shut down the computer.
    Clean the trackpad with moist not wet microfiber cloth.
    System Preferences > Point & Click
    Try turning off three finger dragging and then turning it on after testing.
3. Is there any Bluetooth device nearby with failing batteries? If so, replace the batteries.

    Choose the method for:
    "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
6. Close all windows and quit all applications.
    Click the Spotlight -the magnifying glass icon- in the menu bar. Enter Disk utility in the box.
    Select Disk Utility. When the Disk utility window opens up,
    select Macintosh HD, then First Aid.
    Click Repair Disk Permission
    Ignore the time remaining estimate.
    Last 1 minute may take longer.

Erratic cursor and track pad when using 220v on MBA

Hello
I am travelling in Europe with my MBA, and I have noticed that when it is plugged into a 220v outlet the whole case has a slight electric charge (and a very slight vibration), this apparently makes the track pad very erratic, with the cursor jumping all over when I try to move it. I have resorted to unplugging the MBA when I want to use.
Any thoughts/solutions on this?
