Other users have been reporting Yahoo mail problems that are not iPad problems. Might be something to try on these links.

Is there a reason why my Ipad keeps saying the connection to the server failed using my mail app but
i can gain entry to my account using Google then Yahoo mail.

Other than yahoo being a general pain in the behind?
It's been buggy at best for quite a while now. I have noticed that it doesn't like some connections, for example my mail simply will not download if I'm on certain AT&T hotspots via the mail app, but works just fine if I access it via safari.
I also had periods of time just this AM when my PC wouldn't even access my mail. IMHO, Yahoo has upgraded their mail to nice pretty barely function.
If it persists too long you can try to uninstall/reinstall your mail account in the mail app (Under settings, mail, contacts and calendar). Or it may simply be your connection or hotspot and it will resolve once you use a different connection.
I believe yahoo mail also has an app but I have no experience with how well it may/may not work

Try this:
1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You will have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
If nothing above helped, restart your router.
No data is lost due to a reset.

Hi -I was having the above problems on both my ipad and iphone, and I trawled the internet for hours and hours trying to find a solution to this.....tried resetting both devices,signing back in to the mail app, and did a full reset of both iphone and ipad., I removed the email account from both devices too.. I knew that the problem occurred after receiving an email- as it happened whilst opening the email- you might not have realised that's what it was at the time?.... I tried deleting the email from both phone and ipad, and hotmail was working fine on a webpage,it was JUST the mail app that was giving the error messages..... I was receiving the above message and ' cannot send mail- an error occurred while sending this message' and ' cannot get mail- the connection to the server has failed' then I suddenly realised that even though I had deleted the mail from both ipad and iphone the message was still in trash, so I emptied trash and made sure the mail was completely removed from my hotmail account ANYWHERE and then the problem disappeared.....I think an email I received was maybe corrupt- I hope this at least helps someone and saves you the hassle it caused me!

I suspect that you are saying that you can't download/install the latest version of iTunes.
All I can say is try removing and reinstalling the Apple software using the following:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
If you have further problems with installing Itunes I suggest you post in the iTunes forum since you have an iTunes problem, not an iPod problem. Also report the wording of any error messages. What they say is importent on resolving them.

Did you delete all receipts with iDVD in the file name with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/ folder before installing the new copy? If not then do so and delete the new application also.

In iTunes 11 uncheck the preferences setting in in the iTunes Preferences panel "Advanced > Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library"

Check Settings>Messages>Receive At>Caller ID, make sure it's set to your phone number not your email address.
