New 60g 5th gen won't turn on
Just got a new 60g video to replace old 40g. Had charge out of the box. Got home and ran the iTunes updater to confirm latest version and ran iPod installer. Plugged my iPod in and it changed to Do Not Disconnect but hadn't yet registered with iTunes. The screen then showed the Apple logo and a bar along the bottom (i assume the firmware was updating?). Screen then faded out and went blank. Now my iPod won't turn on at all.
I've reconnected my old iPod to check it's not the cable. I've also tried to reset the new iPod. It's dead. I've tried to resetting the mac and reconnecting also.
I'm running a new iMac with OS X 10.4.7
So.Frustrating.
Any suggestions?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My iPod 5th gen won't turn on!
My iPod 5th gen was working fine last night and after charging it won't turn on with power button today. I'm not able to reboot using home button and power button simultaneously because my home button stopped working couple weeks back and I was using touch screen for home function. Any suggestions on how I can reboot without the home button working? Thanks!

On my computer (using windows) I tried to update my iPod touch 5th gen to iOS 8 using iTunes, using this website http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/09/17/the-secret-to-skipping-long-ios-8-downlo ads-and-problems/ as a guide.
It kept coming up with this error http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201442 after the update.
Now my iPod won't turn on and it shows the charger with the lightening with an arrow above it pointing to the iTunes logo.
So i plugged it into iTunes but i don't know what i'm supposed to do, any help?Try:

My iPod Touch 5th gen won't turn on
My iPod touch 5th gen was working fine and was fully charged and then it just shut off and won't turn back on. There has been no damage to it from anything and there was no reason it should've shut off. I tried holding down the lock button for a minute and I also tried plugging it in..still nothing. I can't hold down the home button and lock button at the same time because the home button has been stuck down for about a month. What else can I try to make it work?

IPod 5th gen won't turn on.
I have a 5th gen iPod. It had a full battery and I locked it. About a minute later I went to check the time and it wouldn't turn on. I have plugged it into a power source and into a computer and there's no response. It won't show up into iTunes and nothing happens when I hold the top lock button for an extended period of time.
The home button doesn't work so I've been using the accessibility home button for a little while so I can't hold both to force reset. What else can I try...?YESSSS, ITS WORKING AGAIN.
Unfortunately I cracked the screen trying to un-jam the home button. It's minor and you can't even tell it's cracked though. Still completely useable. I'm just glad it's working again for now. I'm going to replace it with an iPhone eventually. -
I've had my iPod touch 5th gen for a little over half a year now, haven't had any issues until now. Yesterday it randomly shut down, and when I try to turn it back on, the apple logo shows up but the iPod just stays on that screen, it doesn't turn on any further. I think I might need to restore it to the factory settings to get it to work again, but I'm concerned that I'm going to lose all my photos. I found the backup folder in my computer but it doesn't have any files in it. I have over 600 pictures on my iPod and I really don't want to lose them all. Is there a way that I can either get my iPod to work again without restoring, or a way that I can extract the photos without the iPod actually being in functioning condition? The computer doesn't recognize the device when it gets connected via the USB. Thanks!
- Connect the iPod to your computer and try to make a backup
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
- Next reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
and try making a backup again. If you can't then there is no way of getting the info off the iPod unless data recovery company can do it. Not cheap.
- If photos are in an existing iPod backup (iTune>Preferences>Devices for iTunes backup or an iCloud backu) then restore from that backup. See the restore topic of:
iOS: How to back up
- If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

My iPod (5th Gen) won't turn on and my home button isn't working?
Hello! For the past two weeks my home button hasn't been working and since I'm too lazy to go to an apple store I just started using assistive touch instead. But ever since yesterday my iPod won't turn on which I know is a normal problem with as easy fix, to restart the device, but that requires a working home button, which is something I don't have. I've tried using rubbing alcohol to fix the home button but it won't work, if anyone has any other solutions I will be forever grateful!

My ipod touch 5th generation was purchased brand new yesterday. After charging it and loading my music i went to plug it into my icoustic dock which I got as a bundle with the ipod only to have my ipod screen go blank and now it refuses to turn on, reset or get recognised by my computer or itunes. I have the latests software as it was only uploaded last night. Should I be taking it back to the shop? Has anyone else had a similar problem?

My ipod 5th gen won't let me adjust volume when headphones are plugged in, but when they are not I can adjust the volume on the speaker. How do I fix this?
Try a hard reset of the Nano. To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
I assume you have double checked to make sure you are plugging the headset all the way in meaning the white part of the headset is flush with the body of the Nano?

My iPod 5th gen is not turning on after iOS 8 update!
My iPod 5th gen is not turning on after iOS 8 update! Before this all happened, I noticed that my apps crashed unexpectedly, it was laggy, and it decides to reset on its own at times. I CAN'T charge or plug it into my computer. Also, my home button is sunk in but my sleep/wake button at the top is most definitely not. I know my iPod was not running out of battery and I did not even power it off. I am very disappointed but I really need it to turn on =/
