New album in iPhoto is not a clean slate...

When i create a new album in iPhoto it´s filled with old pictures automatically. How do I get this to not happen? How do I create new albums with no content?
Also, when i remove files in these albums, the orginial photo also seems to disappear. I want it to be like a playlist in iTunes, where nothing happens to the original when you remove the playlist or stuff in it.

Option-Command-N
Command N creates a new album from the current selection (like the File menu ==> new album does) - Shift-command-N creates a new empty album - Option-Command-N creates a new smart album

Yup, kind of like anything else you accidentally break that is more cost effective to replace than to repair. Keep that iPad away from the toddler

Problems with new albums in iPhoto 5

When I create a new album in iPhoto 5, it does not appear in the Finder view of my Albums folder, and the "Change Picture… " option is greyed out in the Desktop Prefs. pane. The only way to enable the "Change Picture… " option is to set the new album as an "iPhoto. selection" in the iPhoto window, using the "Desktop" button.
On the other hand, my older albums (imported from iPhoto 4) do appear in the Finder view of my Albums folder, and the "Change Picture… " option is available but may be ignored by the computer.
There is some inherent problem here with the sidebar in the Desktop Prefs. pane as well as some incompatibility between iPhoto 5 and iPhoto 4. It's also noteworthy that MacHelp does not even mention the sidebar method for cycling the Desktop Picture - it only covers the "iPhoto. selection" method.

How do I split my albums in iPhoto, so not albums to bee seen, only 1?

How do I split, or seperate, my albums in iPhoto, so not all albums can be seen at once?? This, if I send the link to someone, about +one specific album+.
Some albums are for other eyes only.......
Now, it seems, that everybody can see ALL the albums, after they have received the link for just 1 album.....
Help!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you're referring to MobileMe albums created from iPhoto bring up the Info window while viewing the gallery and click on the Change Settings button.
Next check the Hide album on my gallery page checkbox and set the Album Viewable by: to Everyone. Now you can send the URL for the gallery to visitors and when they go to the gallery they will not see the other albums.

HT4236 I've run out of room on my hard drive. I bought an external drive and exported all my albums to the external drive then deleted the albums from iPhoto. I want to sync both from my ext drive and new albums in iPhoto. No dice. Help!

I want to sync both from my ext drive and new albums in iPhoto. My photos on the devices get wiped out when I sync to iPhoto since I deleted all the albums. But when I sync to my hard drive (where I maintained the album structure) the photos are copied to my iPad but lose all the hierarchy and folder structure. Now I have to scroll through thousands of photos to try to find the one I'm looking for. Before I sync any more devices I want to know the following: 1) can I restore the album structure on my iPad by using the photo cache? 2) is there a way to sync both new iPhoto albums AND pictures in the folders in my hard drive? And 3) how can I keep the photo hierarchy structure from my hard drive intact on my devices?

Don't do that.
Copy /Photos/Photo library/ to the external.
Hold Option and launch iPhoto.
Select Choose library and select the Photo library you copied to the external.

Depends on where you got it - if it came on yoru compujter then you need to have accepeted it in the App store - and it will be in your purchases when you log in with the Apple ID that you used to set up your computer - it mahy be hidden - if you do not find it unhide applications in teh App store

Starting a new album in iPhoto.

On my MacBook I can create a new iPhoto album using file/new or the icons bottom right of the iPhoto screen.
But the problem is that the created new album copies all photos from the album above in the list.
There is no instruction on how to create a blank new iPhoto album.
Also, there is a choice of new album called 'Smart Album' but no explanation of how this Album is different.

Hi, welcome to the forums.
In iPhoto there are as you say albums and smart albums.
Albums are used to manually sort photos into say a particular order or based around say a holiday or a set of photos you may want to burn to disc, etc. They are manually controlled by 'copying' or dragging specific photos or events into the album.
When you create one, you get the option to make a blank one or make one based on which photos or events you already have selected by ticking the 'use selected items in new album'.
Smart albums are automatically sorted albums based on rules that you set, such as date photos were taken, ratings you may have set to particular photos, filenames, even down to cameras and shutter speeds. You do not actually manually select photos to put in the smart album, rather the album is populated by photos that match your set criteria in your library.

Why are the albums in iphoto 09 not showing up when I upload them to facebook

I have downloaded photos off my camera and have put them into a new album. When I click on that album they are there. When I go to upload them onto my facebook and other sites the albums are not there. I can not figure out where they are. They are listed in my iphoto. Am I doing something wrong? I have done
this many times and lately this has just happened. Why aren't the albums there? All my older albums are. And if I move the pictures into an older album the pictures don't show up there either, just the older ones. This is making me insane! Any help?

I've tested with jpg, tif, png and I can't reproduce it. Is there a particular image format or all images?
Since it's not working in another account, it's probably something systemwide.
Boot up holding command-r keys into your Recovery Volume.
The screen should give you these choices...
Restore from TM backup
Reinstall Mac OS X
Get help online
Disk Utility
First run Disk Utility Repair Disk, if you get errors run until no errors reported or reports "the disk cannot be fixed". Then, choose Reinstall OS X. This will be an install "in place" and shouldn't effect any of your own data or settings.

New album in iPhoto to iPad

I have a iMac running OSX 10.10.1, iTunes 12, iPhoto 9.6. I have created an album on the Mac with approx 200 photos and want to get these onto the iPad. If I plug in the iPad and go to iTunes, select the photos tab on the iPad and check sync selected albums, Events... etc the new album doesn't appear on the list. I don't want all 3000+ photos synced to the iPad.
Is there a way to get this album over without using iCloud sharing?
Also, when sharing photos via iCloud the photo info (name, location, comments, etc do not appear on the shared photo, is this correct and is there a way to include the name etc?

Yes, I can see the album in both iMovie & Pages but it's iPhoto that I can't see it it and that's where it syncs with the iPad (I think). I have tried restarting both iPhot and iTunes as well as rebooting the system

Yes You can if you are updated with IOS5.
Here is the method...
1-Tap on "Photos" on home screen
2-Tap on camera roll (may be you are already in camera roll)
3-Look at top right, you will found one arrow point out of the rectangle, tap on that
4-It will show "Select Items" now select as many pictures you want to select...
5-Look at the top right corner, you will see "Add to" tap on that
6-Add new album
7-Enter the title for new Album
8-tap on save
9-you are done...

Opening new Album in iPhoto 11

I have tried multiple options to open a new Album, but each time I open and name, it contains the entire iPhoto library. I have more than 30 Albums and never had any issue with the old system.

1 -- select the photo(s) you want in the album and create the album

New album plays on iTunes, not on my iPod

Purchased a new album from the Music Store over a week ago. Songs seemed to download OK to my iPod (30GB dock connector). Songs play fine on iTunes on my PC. Also play fine on iTunes off of my iPod hooked up to PC. However, when I try to play them on the iPod itself, all I get is a cycling through the titles without any playing. Tried clearing them off the iPod and reloading. No joy. E-mailed Apple, and after a full week got a "we at the Music Store don't handle that kind of problem reply (without linking me to anyone who DOES). Can anyone help?

Photos albums from iphoto will not show in iweb media section

I have 2 issues. Photo albums that I created in Iphoto will not show in the Iweb media section. Also, all of the photos from half the Photo pages go missing after I update and republish to my site. They still show on the site but the photos are not longer showing in Iweb and have to be added back to the photo pages.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and try again.
