New Aobe reader for Linux

There used to be a Linux selection on the Adobe Reader download page at http://get.adobe.com/reader, but not any more. How can I download the latest version of Adobe Reader for my Linux operating system?

Sound in PDFs not playing - suse - latest Reader for linux (7.0.9?)

I have a pdf that has sound files incorporated into it somehow and I can't get them to play. I am using the latest available adobe reader for linux and I have suse linux, I forget what version but not too old. When I click on the link for the sound, absolutely nothing happens. I know it does work because it works at work on Vista. I am not sure whether there are actual sound files in there or if they are links to files on the internet. I suspect maybe they are links because it also will not work in windows XP with Reader 8 on a computer not connected to the internet. However, I have been able to find no information on this, so I don't have a clue.
Is sound in pdfs a Reader 8 only feature? Does it just not work in Linux? Is there any way to be able to listen to those audio clips?

So you mean there is a release coming out that will solve my problem? Does anyone know when?
(The only thing I've found is stuff written in December last year saying they will release Reader 8 for linux/Unix soon. Soon has been and gone since then ;) )

After the last few days of slow forums and the loss of notifications of posts... just curious. Is there any way to view these forums with a news group reader like Entourage or Halime or any Apple product?

Hopefully you will no longer need this as Apple Discussions performance has improved greatly, but I will point out that you can create RSS feeds from search queries.
Unfortunately there has never been enough requests for newsgroup access for us to invest it. We get about one request per year.

There is no Professional version of the free Adobe Reader. Maybe you are talking about Adobe Acrobat? If so, maybe the Acrobat forum would be more appropriate. In any case, these forums are not a way of addressing Adobe; just fellow users around here.

Check in Synaptic OR Software Centre that the 'partner' software repository is enabled.
At terminal type:
(if required) update your system
~: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade <Enter>
install latest Acrobat Reader (for Ubuntu Linux), AND font packs
~: sudo apt-get install acroread acroread-fonts <Enter>
Then look for in applications menu OR under 'Dash', for Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric).

64-bit native version of Acroread is currently not available (see point 6 in the FAQs page http://blogs.adobe.com/acroread/2007/09/adobe_reader_811_faqs.html). We will let the user community know if in case there's such a plan in the future.

PDB reader for linux

Hello,
Is there any reader for PBD file format?
By "reader" i mean not actually reader but something that can open/edit this kind of files.
I was unable to fine anything usable on internet and i don't want to use .exe + wine.
Also if it's possible i am looking for something that will be able to read some of Eastern Europe encoding formats

PDF portfolio search not working in Reader for Linux

I have a PDF portfolio with embedded index created using Acrobat 9.5.5 running on Windows 7. I can search this portfolio without any problem using the windows versions of Acrobat 9.5.5 or Reader 11.0.4, but when I try any of the same searches using Reader 9.5.5 for Unix on Ubuntu 13.10, the searchs never terminate. The search window appears, but the spinning circle at top right of the search window just keeps spinning and no results ever appear. I've left it for half an hour without any results appearing. The same searches on Windows complete in a few seconds.

Hmm. Sounds like something went wrong with the links. Are they spelled out (using http://www....etc) or are they hyperlinks? If they are spelled out, you could have your version of Reader set to recognize links and they may not (Edit>Preferences>General>Basic tools - Create links from URLs).
To create links in ID, highlight the text, go to your hyperlinks pallet and in the drop-down select "New link" and fill in the appropriate information. Then when you export it to PDF from ID, in the "General" settings section under "include" select "Hyperlinks".
There are other options you may want to be aware of but that's better asked about in the ID forum.

I know that a few dependencies are already covered by others (as namcap reports them) but I left them all just to be "compatibile" with aqualung required and optional libraries list (check aqualung homepage for more info).
In this version gui skin chooser doesn't work (at least for me) - it can't see other skins. You can change the default skin to other (build and install aqualung-skins first) manually by changing it in the config file in your ~/.aqualung.
For fast start just run aqualung --output alsa (or oss or jack if you prefer). Jack is required always but it doesn't need to run if you are using only alsa/oss. More info on aqualung homepage.
...and for the future releases a cvs version pkgubild (no difference for now - the project is too fresh :-) but you can use it as a template)

agoogle search will lead you to sites that have skins
when you connect your phone to software updater you can check if there is an update available whenever your connected to pc suite a message should come through that there is an update availalble when it arrives

New Download 2004S for linux does not work

hi,
I have downlowded the 4 iso images for 2004S.
Then I usded the cat function, but there was no possibility to view the folders.
When I tried to write it to DVD, there was a error " no iso 96.. image" and it does not work.
Any suggestions?

Reader for 64 bit Linux

Why is there not a 64-bit version of Reader for Linux?
I find this absolutely ridiculous and unexpected from
a large company like Adobe.
All new desktop and laptop processors are 64-bit nowadays.
Nobody would install a 32-bit OS (for x86 ofcourse, but even arm is getting to 64-bits soon...).
The effort needed to provide an 64-bit version along with a 32-bit one is virtually nonexistent.
There are people that don't want to or don't need to have two (32 and 64) versions of all their shared libraries or have to cross-compile some of their libraries to support old legacy applications.
Or is Reader nowadays an old legacy application?
Come on Adobe give us a break.
