New apple id ends access to itunes on iphone

iphone 4 iOS 7.1.2
How can i get my itunes library back on my iphone? i had to change my apple id - not my email address - just the apple id. its my same account  same name same address same credit card number, i just changed the id from my email address to a name, and updated the password. its still the same email address associated with the account from the ver beginning. i thought i got everything taken care of by updating the info in my iphone settings. its updated so i can post on these discussion groups, buy stuff on the app store and so i thought i was good to go. so i go to itunes on my iPhone and it is empty - no content. i learn that i must update my info on the icloud settings separately. icloud insists i use an email address, not my apple id. it doesn't want my apple id. it says it must be an email address. so i type in the email address associated with the account - but icloud doesn't recognize the new password associated with the account. it only recognizes my old password that went with my old apple id. so now i am stuck. i can't listen to anything in my itunes library on my iphone, but i can buy stuff all day long with my apple id on the app store or the itunes store from the same phone - but it doesn't recognize my itunes library in icloud - stuff i paid for with that very same account.
answers i have seen to similar questions on this topic don't seem to be relevant to my problem
thank you

where? in the manage my apple id settings: appleid.apple.com
this situation is confusing, at least to me it is.
i started out in 2007 creating an apple id when i got my first mac book. my apple id was my name. i used it to do everything from posting inquiries to this discussion forum to making purchases from the itunes store. a few years later all of a sudden i was required to use my email address instead of my official apple id when i made purchases from the itunes store and later the app store. i was no longer using my official "apple id" which was my name, all that was ever asked for was my email address - as though all of a sudden it was my apple id.
last week i tried to log on to this discussion group for the first time in several years. i couldn't log in. i was trying to log in using my email address since that's all apple wants me to use anymore instead of the name i created as my apple id. it didn't work for logging into this group. i found out through customer support (on the phone) that i had to use the apple id that was my name - the original one (although i never actually changed anything, i had never bothered using the "name" since itunes stared requiring the use of an email address instead. since it worked with the same password t i wasn't sure why i ever needed to have created the apple id in the first place)
customer support then advised that i make sure that my email address is associated with the apple id that is my name and that the email isn't used for any other accounts. its not. i logged into manage my apple id and made sure it was listed as the name i created way back in 2007 (which is what customer support verified is still the apple id i had associated with my email address). the only thing i updated was my billing address for my credit card. ever since then itunes on my iphone has no content.
what must i change/update in order to access my library that was on there yesterday?
i don't doubt this is confusing to anyone reading this. - i guess my only other question is, why did apple let me create an apple id that worked fine and then all of a sudden decide it must be an email address and then just last week tell me i need to use the name again? i thought the point of apple id was to use ONE NAME. if its just my email address then why don't they call it that instead?

  • I have iTunes on my laptop but it is registered to an apple id for an ipod which I have not used/owned for years.  How do I add my new apple id which I use on my iPhone to my iTunes on my laptop?

I recently purchased two songs which refuse to download on my iPhone 4s.  Other songs from the same albums downloaded just fine.  In an attempt to recover these songs I opened iTunes on my laptop which I have not used since I sold my ipod years ago.  The iTunes on my computer is associated with an old Apple ID that was connected to my iPod.  How do I get my new Apple ID synced with the iTunes on my laptop?

    Hello Leanna,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing.  You can sign into iTunes with your Apple ID using these steps:
Use your Apple ID with the iTunes Store
Open the latest version of iTunes.
    Choose Store > Sign In.
Enter your Apple ID and password and click Sign In.
Click Review when asked to review your information.
    Enter your billing information.
Click Continue after you enter your credit card and billing information. You can remove or edit your credit card information at any time. Learn more about updating your iTunes Store account information.

You will also need to authorize your computer to play purchases with this Apple ID:
    Open iTunes
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer. (In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

With the latest version of iTunes on Windows, the menu bars are hidden, so you may need to enable them to get to the Store menu.  You can follow these steps to enable the menu bars:
To keep the iTunes menus active, change the setting by selecting the Menu icon in the upper-left, and then selecting Show Menu Bar. Alternatively, you can press Control-B.

wow ... I get a headache just trying to read what you just said. I went and read how to migrate my library and found that you can only migrate purchased media.
No, you can easily migrate your entire library from one working compter to another.
If you fail to backup or migrate your library and find yourself with nothing but a new empty computer and a device full of content iTunes is designed to only recover the iTunes purchased content, however third party tools can help recover everything if needed.

  • My old Apple ID won't allow me to use the old password to log out of the cloud. I can't use the new one, either. The new Apple ID is in the iTunes and App store. But I can't change it on the cloud without logging out. Which I can't do.

I can't use the old Apple id and Apple password on my new Iphone 6 - I can use the new ones. But I can't access the cloud in the meantime. The iTunes and App Stire has the new Apple ID, but I can't get into the settings to change it on the iCloud. It asks for the Old Apple ID and password, which doesn't work. Does anyone know how to change the old Apple ID on the iPhone in the settings for the iCloud?

First, try the new password.  If you didn't sign out of iCloud prior to changing the primary email address of your Apple ID, this is what can cause this problem.
Also, read this: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud - Apple Support

  • When I updated to ios 5 I was forced to create a new Apple ID. Now my iTunes sync does not work properly.  Why did it do this and is there a way to fix it?

I already had an iTunes account when I pushed the iPhone.  After upgrading the OS to 5.0.1, I kept receiving an error message saying that my AppleID was invalid, even though it worked perfectly within iTunes on my PC.  It seemed to want my email address as my "new" AppleID so I entered that, but it created a second ID. It seems my cloud account and the "phone" iTunes is attached to the newer ID and my "PC" iTunes account is attached to the older ID.
Now, when I try to sync iTunes, I don't see all of the songs I purchased, some sync and others appear to sync but are grayed out with the sync icon next to the title. The songs are still on my phone, but not in my iTunes library.
Is there any way to fix this and consolidate the accounts? Also, why did the upgrade force me to create a new AppleID? I haven't upgraded to the 4 or 5 phone because I'm afraid this is going to happen again and I'll have a third AppleID to contend with.
    Thanks!!

There is no way to consolidate iTunes accounts.
Setting up an iPhone has never required creation of a new Apple ID.
You've apparently purchased content with both Apple ID's.  Sign into the device with the correct Apple ID and sync the content.

  • Apple TV partially accesses my iTunes Library

Not sure if anyone else has run into this problem, but when using Apple TV to access iTunes from my computer it only partially finds the music I have within iTunes.
Checked Home Sharing, the ID's are syncronized correctly, but I'm missing multiple songs and genres.  My videos are fine but it seems only to be a problem for my music.

A better example of what I am running into - I just imported a cd from Amazon into my iTunes library on my PC. When I turned on ATV2 to listen, the songs were listed in alpha order. Next day I went in to play it again, songs sorted in track order, then it switched back to alpha order the next time.
The other issue, I have a number of classic jazz cd's recorded by Ella Fitzgerald. To keep them organized, I did some clean up of the Artist names so that they were all Ella Fitzgerald (instead of Ella Fitzgerald and Chick Webb, Ella Fitzgerald and her Ally Cats). In iTunes, all cds are listed under ella. in ATV2, they are listed as they are in the source material. So, I have to go into each variation of Ella to determine which album I want to hear.
    Thoughts about that?

  • HT204053 Can you have multiple apple ids that access one itune account??

I need to know if I can have multiple Apple Ids attached to one itunes account.  Trying to set facetime up on these separate devices and it keeps failing.  Any help would be appreciated.  I tried to add additional emails, but I all I get is verifying and it never verifies it.

yes you can still sync all the devices on itunes using one master itunes/appleID account.
    Music:
If you want to select specific playlists for your kids, DON'T enable iTunes Match on their devices, otherwise they will get ALL the playlists on their devices (learned that the hard way)
If you have wi-fi synced enabled that should still work.
    Apps:
I manually select which apps they get on their devices using itunes. It only changes when they re-sync.
Don't enable AUTO downloads on their devices for Apps or Music purchases.
Since I also have young kids using these devices:
I have restrictions setup on their devices. I don't allow them to install/delete apps, nor do I allow them to make any account changes on their devices. This way their devices stay in order and get backed up to icloud. I can easily restore their devices if I needed too.
Once in a while I will disable the restrictions so I can update all their apps.
    Hope this helps!

  • New Hard Drive, No Access to ITunes Library on Old Hard Drive

My hard drive died yesterday, and no data recovery was possible, so I lost my ITunes library, which was made up mostly of songs that I had imported from my extensive CD collection.
I have no backup CD with the library on it.
I had hoped that I'd be able to transfer over the songs from my IPod to the new hard drive that I had installed today. I downloaded ITunes and attached my IPod, and received a message stating that my IPod was synced with a different computer, and only had the option to (1) Transfer songs bought from the ITunes store, or (2) Sync with the new computer and erase everything off of my IPod.
I read a few help articles about using the IPod as a hard drive, but I can't do that as I don't have access to the original ITunes Library folder.
    Any ideas?

There's an answer to your question but first it's time for a little lecture - if it makes a difference, I don't feel any better about this than you do. ; - )
I hope you take this unfortunate state of affairs as an opportunity to learn a very important lesson: Back up your iTunes library as soon as you can after resolving this situation because right now you are only one glitch of your iPod away from losing your music entirely.
Many people come to the Discussions having lost their music in just such situations and, believe me, it's not a happy time for anyone.
If you place any importance on your playlists and the data they depend on, make sure to include the iTunes Library files in your back-up regimen as well.
Anyways, that's the lecture. The answer to your problem should be found in Zevoneer's post .
Good Luck! But once you have the music back on your computer, remember:
Your music is valuable - please back it up!

  • I want to install new Apple TV which can receive iTunes media stored in a NAS device connected to my router.  I would like to use both a PC and a Mac to manage this.  Is that possible?

I guess the real question is can a single drive in the NAS be shared by both a PC and a Mac.  I plan to access the network from both the PC and mac wrelessly but will ust CAT5 between Apple TV and router.

You are asking several different questions. If you need to store your photos, music, and movies on an external volume, you certainly can. Any externally connected hard disk drive will work, connected either directly to your Mac or to your Time Capsule as a shared volume.
You should not rely upon using that as a backup device though. Although you certainly may use it for both purposes, it is a better idea to have dedicated backup devices for a variety of reasons not limited to redundancy. You would not want to simultaneously lose all your pictures as well as your backup. If they are all on the same device, that could happen. Furthermore, a backup cannot back up the volume on which it is running.
As for adding an Extreme or Express, using its LAN port for your iMac, and then enable Internet sharing so you can effectively use the iMac as a "hotspot", you can do that too, but I am unclear on what benefit you believe this arrangement would convey for you.
An Extreme's Guest network is separate from its Main network; that is the reason for having it.

  • New Apple ID on iPod and Itunes, will this delete my music?

I bought an iPod with my brother to share but now I am the only one that uses it because he bought his own iPad. My iPod is set up under his apple id and so is the itunes on my computer. I would like to set up the iPad and my itunes under my own apple id to avoid the hasle of constantly asking him for the id and password so i can download apps? Can i do this without having all my music and app on my itunes being deleted?

    - Go to settings>iTunes and App Stores and sign out and sign into your account.
    - Apps are locked to the account that purchased them.
    - To update apps you have to sign into the account that purchased the apps. If you have apps that need updating purchased from more than one account you have to update them one at a time until the remaining apps were purchased from one account.

  • Old Apple ID purchases transfer to new Apple ID for access in iCloud?

Years ago I decided to switch my apple ID to a different email address (my old @me.com address). I now cannot access some of my purchased songs from those old Apple IDs via the iCloud since they're associated to the old Apple ID. Is there any way that I can get them all synced?

No. Any purchase you make is tied permanently to the Apple ID used. You cannot transfer them. You can only re-purchase them.
