New apple-in ear headphones' remote not compatible with classic?

i plug them into my aluminum mac, and the features like volume, pause, next, etc work. but they don't work when i use them in my ipod classic. thoughts?

A lot of third party accesories were disable by apple with the 1.0.2 firmware update..you need to downgrade to 1.0.1 firmware to be able to use it.

  • Apple in-ear headphones do not work with iPhone5

I have some Apple branch in-ear headphones, which do not fully function with my new iPhone5. I had the iPhone4, and they worked flawlessly with that, but now they are just plain old headphones, none of the click functions work. Is this a bug?

FYI, this resolved itself. I think the connection in the iPhone needed to have some coating or something removed. Inserting and removing the headphone connector a bunch of times, and then it started working.

  • Does Apple make/sell the new "Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic" with a one sided configuration? So that a person that is deaf in one can hear both sides of a stereo recording? Also, since the "other" bud is not necessary/useful...it's removed.

As far as I know, Apple sells no such configuration.  However, under Settings > General > Accessability, there is an option to play back audio in monoural mode, which would then play both halves of a stereo mix in each earbud.
    Hope that helps.

A PPC G5 cannot run any version of OS X beyond Leopard 10.5.8.
You should be able to find a Leopard retail (black) install disk on eBay. A grey update disk is machine specific and won't work.

  • New Apple In-Ear Headphones

Okay, I had a few questions to ask before I go out and by these so I don't waste my money.
    1. Are the new In-Ear headphones compatible with the Original iPhone?
    2. Are they sold at Best Buy?
If anyone could help me that would be great

    Hello Covenant,
First, the Apple In-Ear Headphones will work with the iPhone except for the volume control function. This thread and link provide some information on them:

Whether Best Buy carries them or not, I can't answer. They are not listed on their online store, but you can always contact your local brick-and-mortar Best Buy and see if they have them in stock.

  • I have a mac osx 10.4 and all the new versions of fire fox are not compatible with my computer, how can upgarade so I can get to my gmail account, etc?

I can't access my email on firefox , it states that I am using an old version of firefox that is no longer compatible with gmail, however when I try to upgrade to a newer version I get a window that says that my computer is not compatible with the new version. Is there one that is??

Current Firefox versions require a Mac with an Intel processor and OS X 10.6 (Firefox 16 runs on Intel Mac OS X 10.5).

For an unofficial Firefox 17.0.10 ESR compatible version that runs on a PowerPC Mac with OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8 you can look at TenFourFox.

  • New Keyboard Not Compatible With All USB Flash Drives

    Hi,
I've noticed that the new super-thin iMac keyboards are not compatible with all USB Flash Drives. Here's an example.
I have 2 USB Flash Drives. One is a ByteStor 2GB USB 2.0 High Speed Dataferry Flash Drive, the other is a Kingston DataTraveler 1GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive. Neither of these drives used to work with the previous design of iMac keyboard, giving me the "low power" warning.
However, the ByteStor works just fine with the new super-thin iMac keyboard, but oddly enough, the Kingston DataTraveler doesn't. Does anyone know why this is? What's the difference? When buying a new USB Flash Drive, how do you know if it's compatible with the new iMac keyboard or not?

Thanks. Yeah the Kingston DataTraveler works just fine if I plug it into one of the USB 2.0 ports on the back of the iMac. But if I plug it into the new thin Apple Keyboard, it gives the low power warning.

Anyway, I'll try that new keyboard software update and report back.

  • New in-ear headphone NOT COMPATIBLE with RADIO remote!!!

I bought some days ago on the apple store the new in-ear headphone but it seems that are not compatible with radio remote control.
Infact if I connect them, the volume is very very very low. The volume is correct only if I take out just a bit the jack from the radio remote or if the central button of the "in-ear headphone" is hold down pressed.
Do you know something about this problem? Because these headphones are NOT very cheap and nothing is indicated on the apple store.
    Thanks!!!
    lelea74

According to the description, it is supposed to work as normal earbuds when connected to older iPod models. So it seems like it should work that way with a Radio Remote. You said it works properly if it is not pushed in all the way? Maybe the one you have has a minor defect. If you bought it online, you may want to call the customer service number at shown at the upper left corner of the online Apple Store web page and see what they can do about it.

  • Do third party replacement tips fit on the apple in ear headphones? I prefer foam tips as they block out much more sound, but I'm not sure if Apple use the standard fitting for headphone tips!?!?!?!

Do third party replacement tips fit on the apple in ear headphones? I prefer foam tips as they block out much more sound, but I'm not sure if Apple use the standard fitting for headphone tips!?!?!?!

Answer found. Please find below an amazon review explicitly mentioning adding third party foam tips. Sounds like they fit and work like a dream:
"As a audio engineer, I own about a dozen different sets of earphones and in-ear 'phones. My favorite, by far, are my sure SE530s. I have some Sennheiser cx400s which are good workhorses, but lack the finesse, clarity and stunning accuracy of the Shures. For convenience, I bought the Apple's, as I wanted something I could use with the phone for calls.
I found the sound to be quite clear and beautifully clean, but like many, no matter how I tried, the stock Apple tips never made a good seal. The seal is absolutely essential to getting bass out of a balanced armature design. For you non-engineers, just trust me that if you don't have a proper seal, you will have no bass.
In my case, I think the trouble had to do with the largest size being a tiny bit too small, and the silicon being too rigid, yet slick, so they left small airgaps and were easy to remove. I tried using some foam tips from a third party, but their large was more of a medium, and never came close to a snug fit.
As an experiment, I dug around in my ear-tips from my Shure's and tried their rubber tips which are about the same size as Apple's large tips, but made of a more pliant and slightly sticky rubber.
OMG, what a transformation. Suddenly the sound blossomed, the bass became rich and well balanced, and the "top-heavy" sound was totally mellowed into a rich, well balanced and incredibly detailed presentation.
Make no mistake, these are the best 'phones under $200 I have ever heard. The bass is deep and warm, very detailed, and totally lacking fuzz or buzz that I can hear in the Sennheiser set. Look at getting tips from a better headphone. The trick is it has to have a soft rubber base that can expand over Apple's slightly larger stub. Some tips, like the Shure foam tips, have a rigid plastic sleave in the tip to keep it's position correct, and these won't expand over the larger Apple posts."

  • Nano+  Apple In-Ear Headphones

in description: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA850G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3NA&mco=Mjg5MTE4MA it is wrote, that those are compatible only with classic, Nano 4th and touch. Did anybody tried with Nano 3rd?? If it is incompatible with 3rd then what? remote doesn't work?? What a shame... i LOVE THOSE! and that small remote in cold winter would be a blessing:)

As far as I understand, these new headphones use a four-conductor 3.5 mm audio jack.
The older iPods (such as your Nano 3G) use a three-conductor 3.5mm jack: one each for ground, left and right channels.
The new iPods (Sept. 2008 Nano, Classic, and Touch) accept the four-conductor jacks: one each for ground, remote/volume/mic input, left and right channels.
So essentially it is not physically possible for any older iPods to register the signals from the remote/volume/mic input channel.
Hope this helps... I'm considering getting a pair of these new in-ears for my own Nano 3G for the decent price and quality... perhaps I'll consider purchasing a newer iPod next year that will be compatible with the remote/volume/mic functions of the headphones.
