New at building editing machine need help

So I've been reading the forum and through some research I've seen a good option for a mobo is X58 ASUS P6X58D-E LGA - but I've been reading the plethora of problems and I know me and I am definitely not a tech savvy guy when it comes to making these machines - I was wondering what a good alternative would be as it seems to have nice features like USB 3.0
I am located in toronto canada so I am trying to get parts from www.canadacomputers.com which is literally just a 10 minute walk away from me - although some of the parts they don't have so here is my build

That small adjusment that you mention is to increase the ram multi for the
folow result:
RAM multi 10= 1333 mhz
RAM multi 12= 1596 mhz
In both cases we must increase the QPI Link Speed. Its like making OC of the
ram which can be a little complex for a normal user.
About the Latency I cannot say more. Only hope that BillG publishes my
results soon and try with facts more that with words.
Note: all these info is base on a I7 950.

I don’t believe RAM latency is anywhere near as important as your processor
choice. You have devised a good configuration. Its not imperative to over
clock; Premiere CS5 will work great with your configuration! I will
reemphasize, “Know (make sure) people are using your mother board/ RAM
combination successfully” just as an indicator you aren’t climbing out onto
a limb that has never been tried. More RAM is more important than faster
Ram, but with 12GB you will be editing like a madman.

Just Bought New Mac Mini Server and Need Help on Migrating Old Single User

This is for my home / home office The issue is I was unable to connect to my old computer using migration assistant for some reason, but I didn't want to go down a rabbit hole to figure it out.
I would like to transfer all of my applications and prefs / settings to the new machine and I was thinking about using a synching program to do it so I wouldn't mess with the SL Server settings. I suppose I could do this manually but am concerned some hidden files or settings may not get moved properly. I am able to mount my old hard drive on the new mini so I just need a strategy. Thanks.

Good question - my angst is subsiding as I type. I was concerned that my preferences and other application linked things like Application Support were the same as it was, but I suppose if I have to mess a bit with it upon opening or reinstalling a program is the worst thing that will happen. After going thru the list of programs I realize that like most people I regularly use about 15% of the things in my Applications folder. The biggest hassle is Adobe CS4 which I need to get reauthorized by Adobe and this could only have been solved if I de-authorized it before blowing out my earlier computer. Luckily that is worst issue I am encountering.

Day one of my new MacBook Pro & I desparately need help with calendar and email

It's day one of my new relationship with a Mac, and I need help! I'd like to use microsoft exchange to sync my calendars to iCal & my emails the way I currently do with my iPhone 4 and iPad 2. The problem is that all I get are error messages. They either say that communication with the server cannot be established or communication to ports 80 & 440 cannot be established. One account I'd an ssl and the others are gmail. Please advise!

Finally (after extensive searching) found a solution for you my friend:
1) Open Finder,
2) On the top right search box enter .itl
3) Move to trash all the .itl Files you see then restart your iTunes, and your iTunes is back to you.
Hope this works buddy.

New To CC and DPS, Need Help

Recently I started using Creative Cloud and I am loving it. One of the main reasons I joined was to take my small magazine (circ in the hundreds not thousands) into interactive app form. I have paid my Apple fees, created all my certificates and have started the fun part of actually creating the app. But it has come to my attention that I may not be able to do what I want with Creative Cloud; creating an app for my mag and sell new issues from within that app as they publish. From what I can tell I can publish as many SINGLE apps as I want but cannot publish one app for my mag that has new issues added for sale? From what I gather I would need one of the high end versions of DPS which are way, WAY out of my budget.
Can anyone correct me if I am (hopefully) wrong or give some advice how I can still make this work. The mag only publishes about 4 times a year, so would it be unheard of to work around this with four different apps and would Apple be OK with that?

Subscription apps require a pro or enterprise level account. Adobe is quite clear in stating that only Single Edition apps are included in CC.

Okay, so I bought APE 9 a good 2 years ago for high school and now I am going into Television in College, I have had to buy a newer laptop. My old laptop will be wiped by my father (who, might I add, is very impatient). I need the program to be transferred onto the new laptop....and no, I am not buying the upgrade for another $100. Simply deactivate it on the old machine and install it on the new one.

Depends on which Samsung flip phone you have. Does it have an SD card?
You may be able to plug the phone into the computer, allow the drivers to load, and then move the pictures to the computer. Then you could move them from the computer to the new phone.

Just purchased CS4Ext and installed it. It's not showing up on my desktop as a quick entry icon. I want to simply load images from a portable hard drive (USB) to a new folder in photoshop so I can review them and begin to select and separate out some of interest to manipulate and share or get ready to print. It 's the most basic help one can need butI'm jut not clear on the workflow steps . Would appreciate someone walking me through the steps .

Let's see… First of all, this is the Photoshop Macintosh forum. Installed applications never, ever show up on your desktop as a "quick entry" icon on a Mac. Are you on a Windows PC maybe?

Just select them with your mouse in the Finder and drag-copy them into the new folder. Done.

Open iPhoto then launch Time Machine. You should now be able to restore your pictures. If that doesn't work locate your iPhoto Library in your pictures folder and restore it from there.

Yes, I think so. You can create as many partitions as you like - if you look at that document, the second part shows how to partiton the drive into several partitions - just do it as shown but format one of them FAT32 or NTFS
But....
I don't know if a PC can read a single Fat32 or NTFS partition from a drive partitioned using GUID. I think it would have to be Master Boot Record Scheme in which case, you would need Fat 32 all the way.
As you have to wipe the drive anyway, it won't hurt to try I suppose. In the worst case you can always reformat it back to OSX only or Fat 32 so that the PC and Mac can read it (NTFS if you only need the mac to be able to read it).
From a performance perspective I'd use two drives. To swap data between a pc and mac just network them rather than trying to make one drive do two jobs.
