New at using Premiere - Issue with timeline.

I cannot drag anything into my time lime. It is locked for i dunno what reason, it is mentioned:timeline (no sequences). How to unlock this please?

Hi habibullah,
Welcome to the forum!
Sorry you're having trouble. You need to create a new sequence before dragging a clip there. Watch this video for complete instructions: https://www.video2brain.com/en/lessons/how-do-i-choose-the-right-sequence-settings
The interface is a little different as it's from an earlier version of Premiere Pro, but the process is exactly the same for creating a proper sequence.
Thanks,
Kevin

  • Can I transfer system from old macbook to new macbook using same OS with time machine?

I have a MacBook running snow Leopard.  Thinking of getting a new Pro but want to just transfer my entire desktop and system to new MacBook using Time Machine restore.  Is this possible?  If not what are my other options so I do not have to rebuild desktop?
    Thanks!

You can do it either directly from the older MacBook or from Time Machine. Your new MBP is unlikely to boot to the system on the MB as the newer Pro will have a later OS build and different hardware drivers among other things.
Just use Setup Assistant. When you boot the new MBP, after the welcome video you'll be taken into Setup Assistant; you'll be asked if you want to transfer your Applications, Home Folder and prefences from another source. Choose either 'from another Mac' or 'from a TM backup' as appropriate, and connect the Mac (by firewire) or the TM drive when prompted and let it do it's thing.
That will ensure you get one account with no permissions errors and all your stuff should work just as it did on the MB.

On each of your pages you need to add the class="thispage" to your anchor tags.
So the 'About Me' page link looks like below:
    <li><a href="About Me.html" class="thispage">About Me</a></li>
'The Gallery' link on the 'Gallery' page looks like this:
    <li><a href="The Gallery.html" class="thispage">The Gallery</a></li>
Do the same for the 'Studio Work' and 'Contact Us' pages.

They are all quite a subtle grey tone but the one I cannot see is on the 'About Me' page. You just need to bring the grey tone up a few stops.

  • Using premiere elements with mac photo library

how does premiere elements access/utilize my existing library? does it create a new library within premiere elements? is premiere elements  a plug in editor that can be accessed from my library inspector?  do I have to leave the aperature library , post a photo in elements then use elements to work on the photo?

Does this duplicate the files on my hard drive and use up disc space?  I am not doing too many movies mostly photos in iPhoto and the shared library in Aperature.  Why use iMovie?

  • [SOLVED] Unable to use SUDO: issues with /etc/sudoers

I have reinstalled Arch_64 and I have run into some problems with SUDO.
I get the following errors when I try to use sudo:
sudo : unable to stat /etc/sudoers : Permission Denied
sudo : no valid sudoers sources found, quitting
sudo : unable to initialize policy plugin
Here's what I have done with it so far:
    * I added USERNAME (myself) to the 'wheel' group
    * I uncommented %wheel ALL=(ALL) All using visudo
As it was not working for me I also:
    * # chown -c root:root /etc/sudoers
    * # chmod -c 0440 /etc/sudoers
    * Since that too did not work, I recommented %wheel and added USERNAME ALL=(ALL) ALL just under the line root ALL=(ALL) ALL and repeated the above steps. The above problem persists.
    * I checked with visudo -c and it says "/etc/sudoers parsed ok".
I have been through the WIKI and the forums but still unable to figure out whats going wrong.
I will appreciate if the forum can guide me to solution and help me resolve this issue.
    Thanks.

Had exactly the same problem with a new Arch_64 install a few months ago, which turned out to be a problem with permissions on / (which i changed with chmod) - can't remember the details, but it was this post that put me on to a solution:

  • Issues with Timeline vertical scroll adjustment

    Hello,
My timeline has just gone wiggy. The video upper half of the timeline has no vertical slider, unlike the audio slider below. FCP was functioning fine and suddenly adopted this issue. The video part of the timeline, will continue to rotate around the tracks that are in place with out stopping. If i change the size of the timeline screen it will reset. If I attempt to scroll on the video side of the timeline it just continually rolls the video timeline around - as though the tracks are infinite v1- v?. Any fixes are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ed

    Yes you must.
Jon Chappell has written a nifty little app that allows you to back up the prefs to a safe place then to trash the ones in FCP. You can then selectively restore those user settings that might be useful.

  • New to X1, some issues with DVR.

Two questions, since Live Chat seemed to totally misunderstand me. Is there an X1 box that uses Component cables instead of HDMI?  To clarify further, the Red/Green/Blue wires for video.  I received my self-install kit today.  Tried hooking up the X1 DVR in the living room and it wouldn't register.  Put it in the bedroom, registered fine, plays TV fine.  I hooked up a smaller Pace box in the living room instead, and that too, registered and plays TV fine.  Trying to bring the DVR back to that room doesn't work.  Do the DVRs need stronger signal? Thanks.  Sorry for being brash, but chat support has really failed me time and time again.

Thanks again for the reply, Rick. I had to step out of the house for a little bit and came back home to a registration page on the RNG150N.  Thankfully, it's currently working with no trouble.  I haven't tried the DVR or On Demand yet, but live TV works, so I'm pleased. I think there may be some confusion with my last post, so I wanted to clarify a couple of things. I already scheduled the appointment, with the charge.  I did that prior to my last post. As far as the wiring goes, here's where I'm coming from:  The previous tenants in this unit did not have Comcast service.  I had three technicians out to my home trying to find a valid signal to work with.  Finally we found *something* but it wasn't enough to work with, so they set it up for construction.  This started on June 8th.  For three weeks while I waited for construction to come by, I had no internet, no TV. All the while, there was no communication from Comcast with any updates, and whenever I called them for an update, they had zero record of anything, wanted to set up new installs, and generally were useless.  In fact, I even had a representative tell me I was disconnected because of non-pay. Regardless, once construction wired the home with brand new wiring I figured I was in the clear.  I cannot stress this part enough.  I watched then bury a new line directly from the lockbox, climb up a ladder and fish it through my apartment wall.  I helped the guy fish the line through the closet in the bedroom.  Every single piece of wiring in my apartment is brand new.  Not used.  I can assure that 100%. What I can't guarantee is the rest of the building.  I have no idea what the status of the lockbox is, or if there's ingress in my building.  This is the frustrating part, because after watching these two really fantastic techs run brand new wiring, I was under the assumption that this would be ready to go and a very easy install.  So, when the sales rep, who was setting up my order for the third time, said I could have a tech for $100 or a self-install kit for $10, I figured hey - it's brand new wiring.  I should be fine, right? And then the boxes took over a week and a half to arrive, which builds on that frustration. So here we are.  And here I'm posting.   I hope that sheds a little light on my situation and where I'm coming from. But to answer your immediate question, yes.  Tech on Thursday, 9-11, charges or not. EDIT: Unrelated, when I scheduled the appointment with the rep at the walk-in, I found out that my modem isn't registered to my account.

  • Exporting to a .swf or .fla from InDesign CS6 - issues with timeline when opened in Flash.

    Hello,
Looking for help with exporting files for Flash. I have tried both .swf and fla exports from InDesign for the animations I have created. The .swf file will play fine in Flash player but I am having no luck using the .swf or .fla file in Flash. The .fla file will open in Flash but there is no time-line. I can import the .swf file into Flash, but again there is no timeline - all the graphics and elements are visible in the library.
    - Is there a particular way the file(s) have to be exported from InDesign in order for them to appear with a time line in Flash?
    - Are there particular do's and dont's when it comes to creating InDesign files that are going to be used as Flash animation?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Jamie

The page turning animations in an exported swf are accomplished via ActionScript—they are not timeline based tween animations. You might be able to decompile the swf and get to the code, but I've never tried it. Google SWF decompiler.
When you export to fla the animation ActionScript code is not included, so you lose the page turn animations. Each spread is saved as a MovieClip and the clips appear on sequential keyframes of the root timeline. With an fla it's up to you to write any animation code.

  • Setting up a New Site and Having Issues with Flash SWF's

Hello.  I just set up a new site definition, with a testiing server using MAMP Pro, and everything seems to be functioning properly, except that my swf's are not showing up when you publish to a browser from dreamweaver, instead you get the place holder message to upgrade to the newest version of flashplayer... besides the fact that my computers flash player is up to date.  At this point in time my two other websites swf components work just fine when I publish out of dreamweaver.
I'd also like to mention that the Live View works perfectly and is displayinig the swf's as they should be.
    Thanks!

I copied the associated scripts over to the site folder on the testing server and I'm getting the same results.  I'm sure this is something that is really simple.  Here is the code:<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

  • Issues with timeline viewer

    Hi,
In one of my Imovie projects, when in the time line viewer mode I cannot do anything, when I click anything, the waiting symbol appears, and when I eventually get it to play it stops and starts, skips sections, and the sound is all screwed up. But when I have my project in the clip mode everything works fine and it plays smoothly without any problems. This makes it impossible for me to edit.
It doesn't do it in all of my projects, just this one. I had this problem a while ago, and I rang up Apple, and trouble shooted Imovie. But now it's happening again. The project used to be fine and then suddenly this started happening. It's very odd and annoying and I can't do anything. I have no idea how to fix it. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Garry
There are several way to get into this situation so I can only share some thoughts.
in the order I would take on troubleshouting (test after each point)
    a. what version of QT (6.5.2 prefered with OS X.3.9)
    b. free space on Your hard disk (more than 20Gb)
    c. run - repair permissions (Apple disk util tool)
    d. delete iMovie pref file to force it to make a new one
    e. start a new account and log into this and re-try
    f. added any new RAM (can be faulthy - iMovie is picky)
    g. any external devices connected that can interfere (incl internet)
    f. any background programs running
    h. run repair hard disk from AppleDiskUtil tool (You need to start from CD or
    ext hard disk)
return to this forum for more discussion.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Brand New Viewsonic VX2035WM and issues with MDD G4 (2003)

    Hello, fine folks,
Well, I've been waiting to upgrade my 17" CRT monitor to a nice, big LCD. I finally got my chance last night. I bought a Viewsonic VX2035WM 20" widescreen monitor. I didn't get to set it up until today, however.
I set up the monitor using the included DVI-D cable, and when I boot up the computer, I get this huge, gorgeous view of my newly-expanded, 1680x1050 desktop. I use the computer for some research for a couple of hours, then I leave the computer sitting while I play for a while with my children.
I come back to my computer later, and I think to just look to see how the monitor looks with video playing. The videos play fine. I then get back to my research. I notice while I'm reading an article in Acrobat Reader there is a flashing "banding" of sorts going across my entire screen. I check the settings, and nothing has changed from earlier. The banding "flutters" and oscillates horizontally, as though there might be trouble syncing with the video card.
I rebooted the computer, and reset the PRAM (just to try something). The boot up screen has a nice, solid blue hue, but when the desktop appears, the banding/oscillating begins anew like before.
I hope that has given you a good idea of what's happening. Some more information about my machine:
    2003 G4 MDD 1.25 GHz (single)
    1.75 GB RAM
    ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 64MB
    OS X 10.4.8
This computer has run perfectly well for the almost 4 years I've owned it, and now it has me scratching my head. I'm going to hook up my iBook G4 via VGA and see if it's the monitor having troubles, or if it's perhaps my video card.
I apologize for my wordiness, but here's the overwhelming question: Is it my video card, or could it be the monitor?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanking everyone in advance,
    Kyle
    1.25 G4 MDD, 1.2 G4 iBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   G4 MDD: 1.75 GB RAM; G4 iBook: 1.25 GB RAM

Well, an update on the latest episode of this sad saga. Well, I was able to trade out the monitor with Circuit City, and they were great with their customer service (No, I don't work for them. ).
I got the monitor home, and quickly got things set up. I held my breath as I hit the power button on the monitor, then the power button on my G4. Nothing happened. I had a sinking feeling come over me.
I tried the old DVI-to-VGA adapter bit, and it worked beautifully, as it had with the prior monitor. I guess I had just traded in a perfectly fine monitor as a defective one.
I found an article inside Apple's support pages for the G4. It mentioned trying to boot up from an operating system install disk. I put the Tiger install disk into the machine, hooked up the DVI cable, then booted the machine. Of course, as usual, nothing happened. So, I did the usual switcheroo to the VGA cable, and up came the video.
I did an "Archive & Install" installation, per the advice mentioned in this article. I connected the DVI cable, booted up, and again, nothing happened.
I shut down the computer, opened the case, took out the video card, cleaned the contacts, did a quick inspection of the AGP slot, just to make sure no detritus had made its way into there, possibly blocking the connection that would allow a digital signal to pass on through. I removed the battery for a minute, then pressed the PMU button after replacing the battery. I closed up the case, booted up the computer, and nothing happened.
I'm very discouraged and flabberghasted about this whole situation. I've tried to do it all correctly, and when mucking around the interior, I've made certain I'm properly grounded (grounding wrist strap). I'll be placing a call to AppleCare Technical support tomorrow, I guess. Since my AppleCare coverage lapsed just last September(!), I'll be ponying up the $50 in order to see what steps need to be taken next. I suppose they'll want me to ship it out to them and let them take a look.
I guess I'll have some thinking to do. I don't know if I want to bother with the expense to get to the bottom of this.
Thanks again, everyone, for all the assistance and advice offered to me!
    Kyle

  • New Markup using JVue applet with default colors that override .ini setting

Goal: To load the JVue applet initially populated with a given document(drawing) and if there are no markups at all:
    •     Give the user a markup with a custom filename
    •     Configure the applet so that all markups:
o     Have a specific custom outline color that overrides setting in allusers.ini
o     Have a specific custom fill color that overrides setting in allusers.ini
Problem: The following code achieves everything except setting the custom colors via the method configureMarkups().
    •     If configureMarkups() is called, the applet will not save a valid Markup file (it is zero bytes).
    •     If configureMarkups() is simply not called, the applet will save a valid Markup file (but the markups are not the desired color)

Client is starting a new implmenetation on Windows 2008 R1, Oracle 11.1.0.7. They have a 3 node RAC and Grid Control. They are having a number of issues and support is working through those issues. They are asking if there are clients on RAC and Grid on Windows. The Wiki shows a few customers on Windows, but was hoping to get some feedback. Tks.

There are lots of customer applications that are based on Windows RAC. And as mentioned above, it is very well supported by Oracle.
However, because of the security vulnerabilities of Windows, I've observed that most of the financial institutions and listed companies opt for unix based servers for all high profile applications and run only low to medium risk application on Windows.
Regarding maintanence issues, I guess it's going to be pretty much the same; there shall always be lots of bugs, lots of patches and updates just like an yother software; doesn't really matter if you are on Unix or Windows systems. As long as you purchase support, it's all good.
It's pretty much same concern regarding Grid Control on windows.
    Cheers.

  • Having issues with timeline zooming in

When I'm in EXPERT mode on premiere 11, and I try to drag a clip on the timeline, the timeline zooms in or gets larger.  It makes it difficult to figure out where I am on the timeline!  Does this make sense, and how do I make it stop?  I just want it in regular editing mode.  No close ups of the timeline!  HELP!

You left out an important piece of information, that is, the computer operating system that your Premiere Elements 11 is running on.
Because of those known symptoms, I would make you a wager it is Mac.
Please check out the following for your answer to your help request if I am correct in my Mac assumption.
