New ati 64bits beta driver ?
Hey,
Is there any new ATI 64bit beta drivers for windows 64bit out ?
I downloaded the ones that ATI have posted on thier site, but they didnt work with my x800xt card :( The drivers they got posted is from like mars/april I tried them anyhow but as soon as i got them installed the pc just rebooted at once (w/o me pressing yes or windows shutting down prop, just pure rebooted) When win xp 64bit booted up again it still said there was no drivers for my x800xt card.
So my qustion is, does anyone know know if there are some newer ati drivers for win xp 64bit ? maybe omega have remade them or something ?

Zen Kernel and new ati radeon oss driver
Hey together!
A few days ago I get new ati-driver from testing and since then, I can't start the xserver with the zen kernel and ums. I can use the normal kernel 2.6.33 normally.

How do I install the new "unified series Beta driver with OpenAL support" driver?
Hey guys, I'm going to reformat later today and I need instructions on how to install these latest drivers.
Once I reformat, I will install Windows 2000 SP4.
When I reboot, I will insert the CD that came with my Audigy 2 and I will select "Custom Install" and I will select to install everything EXCEPT the driver.
Then when I have installed all the Creative software from the CD that came with my Audigy 2, I will reboot.
Now I will install the "unified series Beta driver with OpenAL support" driver and then reboot.
Is that the correct procedure? If not PLEASE tell me!My game music always (now I've asked for it!!!) seems to work; have you tried disabling cthelper in your config as that seems to ?$!&^ everything up; on my system it was causing crashes and also meant my system was taking 0 minutes to shut down!
And while we're at it, maybe someone from Creative could expand on the really useful info the guys above have given (thanks guys!).
Oh yeah, one last suggestion for Creative; maybe make the installation of "cthelper" optional in the installation program and/or have a check box in the Creative config software to turn it on off with an explanation as to why people may want to do this (ie may cause problems on some systems)...

Hi, have u installed new beta drivers 2.0.0.9? i get problems in q4, i listen right channel on the left channel.
Creative does not recommend using those drivers for the time being, as they are not public beta drivers.
It could be a driver fault, or it could be that you miswired your speakers...
Try the THX Cosnole's sound testing or the Diagnostics to see if you do hear the sound as it should be there. If you are, then it is not the wires...

Can't get DRI working on new ATI driver
Using the new ATI fglrx driver I'm experiencing the same corruption/watermark issues many people reported, and I read that enabling AIGLX fixes that. Sure enough it did, but AIGLX shouldn't work without DRI.
I've got the DRI module loaded, and the DRI section in my xorg.conf, but direct rendering isn't working so thusly I can't get compiz working.
If I attempt glxinfo it tells me I have no protocol selected.

I was earlier using this driver and AIGLX sucessfully with Sabayon and with Kubuntu. We've been trying different distros for my wife's laptop, though at the moment we're pretty happy with Arch. Note, I couldn't get the new ATI flgrx driver really to work at all with openSUSE on this laptop. We'd consider using the open source radeon driver, but we have a Radeon Mobility 300 card in the laptop, and we couldn't get DRI to work on that radeon drivers, it says this particular chipset isn't supported.
Compiz fails saying there is no display. I'm at work, but when I get home in a few hours I can paste specific compiz errors, and the xorg.conf but Compiz isn't going to work until I can enable either AIGLX or XGL, and neither are going to work until direct rendering is working, which I suspect it isn't, since I can't run glxinfo.
If you try to run glxinfo as root that is the error message you get but if you run as user it works fine. At least on my box. -

Nvidia has a new set of beta drivers out (197.13) that fixes problems with the 196.75 set, plus adds some new capabilities. Maybe it can help solve some of the PE8 GPU bugs we've been reading about in this forum...

I just installed the new opengl beta on my audigy2zs and started playing doom 3 again. The difference is amazing. Sound quality is much better and the game runs much more smoothly. Thank you creative.

Will new Ati Driver be released?

will there ever be new ati driver be released for the T500 (I’m running xp on it). The 8.5 one is nearly 9 months old and catalyst 9.3 which has recently been released should bring series performance improvements with it.
A few years ago I remember that my 9200 had to be updated through unofficial “omega” drivers but this seems to be ages ago so I’m my Information is a little outdated. Might there be a similar way to update the 3650 “unofficially”?

TealThe special ATI switchable graphics driver is for Vista only. For XP just install the modified ATI driver with BIOS set to discrete graphics mode. Download the latest HD3650 driver (for stationary computers) from the AMD/ATI website and modify it with the Mobility Modder from here .

Since MIDI playback isn?t used by many people nowadays, I don?t have any hope the CL will fix the outstanding issues, but just for the records:
At least for me the driver fixes nothing in regard to MIDI-playback.

This is what the readme says, but in fact absolutely nothing has changed with the beta driver. But most likely I am only hallucinating...
Notes randomly distort and change pitch exactly as before. This seems to happen more often the bigger the soundfont gets. Try for example the great Fluid3. Works fine on an ages old Soundblaster Li've, but shows the above mentioned problems with X-Fi (since Audigy of course you have to hack the registry to load soundfonts that big - something that has been discussed in various CL discussion forums litarally for years...)Message Edited by lontomer on 06-05-2006 0:38 AMI forgot to mention, that incidentally I swapped motherboard, ram, cpu and graphics card since I purchased my X-Fi last year. ATI Proprietary Linux Driver Version 8.29.6
The new ATI drivers are out.
Be aware that people using Radeon cards < 9500 should stay with version 8.28.8 as it is mentioned on the ati website.R200 series didn't work correctly at all with the latest few driver releases, so it's quite logic to get those off the "known problems" list in this way. The R200 series are damn old these days and are fully supported by the opensource drivers, just like the R100 series that were dropped before.
I wouldn't even recommend fglrx with Xorg 7.1 for the older ATI cards, the opensource drivers work so much better. -
XP 64bit Beta issues for Platinum mobo
My new Platinum (MS-7030) has just arrived and I was thinking of downloading and trying the XP 64bit Beta OS. Are there any issues with the mobo and OS (i.e. Lan drivers, USB, for that matter any of the software that comes with the mobo).
ThanksFirst off i would not recommend installing WinXP64 as ur primary OS. Instead install it on another partition. There are no real benifits in using WinXP64 atm and little/no dedicated software.
If u do want to give it a try, u will need to download 64bit drivers that are not included with the cd.
The latest 64bit nforce drivers can be found here.
U will also need to download 64bit gfx drivers from either the nvidia or ati site (depending on which card u have).
If u have a creative sound card, u can find 64bit drivers here
Just remember that most of this software is beta (including WinXP64) atm so dont expect too much. -
ATI Rage Mobility Driver problem
Hello. I managed to succesfully install Arch Linux on a old Acer TravelMate 732TXV. To put things in perspective, that's from the Win98 era. I am having some difficulty getting acceleration enabled. So far, I have managed to get a working graphical display using the xf86-video-vesa 2.3.2-1 package. I am trying to figure out if there is a better driver I should be using instead.
The output of 'lspci | grep VGA' is "01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Rage Mobility P/M AGP 2x (rev 64)".
I have tried xf86-video-ati and xf86-video-r128(only one driver package installed at any given time) but neither one worked for me. Only vesa. I read some other threads from years ago where people were asking about the same thing and some of the threads were non conclusive and others posted results that I didn't fully understsand such as this website.

That thread isn't exactly recent though, so I don't know how relevant it even is. What do I have to do to get acceleration working?
One last thing that might be relevant is that I have no way of installing Arch Linux directly on the laptop because it has no wifi capabilities and I don't have physical access to the router or modem. I have been using my other laptop to install Arch Linux to a flash drive. Then I am booting from the flash drive on the target laptop (which required a live-cd boot manager) to test things (I plan on copying the flash drive over to the hdd after I get it set up right). I'm not sure if that could effect this issue or not.
I don't mind if I have to downgrade some packages if that's what I have to do. This is basically just going to be a gimp machine.

Ok....so i've posted this question in a different way, and i gotten several "scratch the surface" answers from people just saying to install "Ati catalyst", or insert the os x dvd and run set up.exe, and update to boot camp 3.1 or 3.2...while these all seem like great suggestions, I am finding myself needing more specific direction or "hand holding" so to speak.....here is the MAIN problem...
The Background/history
I used boot camp (3.0, and i found updates for 3.1 for imac and for windows, but can't find for mac pro, AND they all are ".exe" files which run on windows..which as you'll see is the big part of my problem...So I recently updated my mac pro (with the ATI Radeon HD2600 graphic PCIe card with 10.6.7 from 10.5.8. I created a single partitioned drive to install windows 7 professional 64 bit. The download software function didn't work (Thanks, APPLE for that poor level of support) so have to select the option that i have already downloaded, or have other media with the drivers already on it....i restarted with the windows 7 disk in....
The installation of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
So the installation of windows 7 seemed to go flawlessly, was able to use my existing 23" hd apple cinema display (so somehow it has drivers that work with the graphics card, or maybe the motherboard's on board video components) and i select english, and install now, custom, blah, blah, blah...installation causes a few reboots, then restarts ultimately back in os x since that is the default boot os i use on this desk top and have to do the "opt" button to select booting in windows....so when i try restarting in windows, now using the actual boot drive on which i am installing it, it ran through another reboot or two, but then after that, my display goes black.... in the communities, the solution sounds super simple... "go download the ATI catalyst for the black screen problem....windows 7 doesn't have device drivers that work with the ATI radeon hd2600...no problem, just go download and install...."
The problem, re-emphasized : I cannot even finish the install for windows, because of this driver problem....i cannot see anything....I have tried to reboot in safe mode, and that then seems to invoke whatever basic drivers that do work, likely through the motherboards onboard video vs the actual graphic card, and the screen works and says that it's wanting to complete the installation, so i'm thinking awesome this is gonna work....and then.. "windows installation was not completed and cannot be completed in SAFE MODE, need to restart, blah, blah, blah" pops up...and forces reboot...so Safe Mode allows me to see, but won't allow me to finish the install of windows 7...and without completing the install i can't run (ranther I DONT KNOW HOW TO) any of the various .exe files everyone is telling me are the solutions to my problem...like update 3.1 and 3.2 bootcamp...they're all .exe files? not sure why, because bootcamp runs in 10.6.7 i thought, but whatever...it needs running Windows to execute...then the ATI radeon hd2600 driver for windows 7 that i downloaded from the site has an installation program that is an .exe file, which needs windows to run... Does this make sense, why i can't just use these fixes, that seem to be the only fixes out there....so can someone school me step by step here (not just the highlights) of how to update bootcamp, and how to install the ati radeon driver without having been able to complete the windows 7 installation because the monitor goes and stays black????
This is so very frustrating for the record...and any substantial help "not just go download this..." would be immensely appreciated.
Some other things i've been told to try that i've tried and nothing seems to happen as i'm told it will....
---I've been told to install the osx dvd and run "setup.exe" - AGAIN...it's an exe file...and 2 - when i put in the os x file it just wants to re install 10.6...so need more help if this is even a real solution to understand how to make it work...
---I've been told to update boot camp to 3.1 and/or 3.2 from 3.0, using Apple Software Update....Well, my software update is saying everything is up to date and there is nothing new to download at all, and when i reverify the bootcamp version it is still only 3.0.2...and again downloading the updates from www.apple.com/support/ for 3.1 and 3.2...all of those are .exe files...need windows to run them...again, refer to the problem described in detail above...

So now, assuming none of the above is possible...referring now to the ati 5770 that you referred to...you mention it works with 10.6 well, and that windows 7 supports it ...2 questions on that
1) Windows 7 supports" meaning, out of the box windows 7 supports it? or will i have to install drivers still through some update, because again, if that's how i have to do it, then won't work, cuz can't start windows to see anything to install any drivers or run any thing at all...so it would have to just work with initial installation.
2)hardware wise for my Mac Pro 3,1...intel dual quad core xeon, blah blah....will this card work? it's a PCIe and should fit on my board no prob, etc? -
New Toshiba 3tb external drive not recognized at startup WIn 7
My new toshiba 3tb external drive (with wall wart power) is not recognized at start up (Win7). The message I get is that it is a USB storage device but can not be used until it is formatted (I already moved files to it). If I plug it in after start up it's fine and shows up as a toshiba storage device. I've used the 2.0 and 3.0 ports and it is the same problem (it has wall wart power). I have never encountered this problem with any other usb storage device (an iomega 1tb and a WD 500gb) always plugged in and recognized at start up.

Hello everyone. I found this music CD that my Dad has that I would like to rip it onto my iTunes account. However I wanted to make sure that I wasn't commiting any copyright violations. I know my Dad imported the CD to his iTunes account when he got
