New Audigy 2 ZS U

Hi,
Newbie signing in.
I installed a Audigy 2 ZS a day ago. Beside XP wanting to activiate itself another time, I had no problem running this card.
One thing I don't get it is that the box says the Audigy sound card can do wonder, and cure cancer. But after a day of use, I don't see any different. My games sound the same... hmm... I think... can't tell with my aging ears.
So, Would you guys help me to understand what I am suppose to expect with a real sound card instead of the on-board C-Media thingie please?
Thanks!

First thing you would have noticed is less stutter in games as onboard sound uses CPU cycles more.
Sound would be 00% cleaner and sharper.
Some games use 64 sounds and 24 bit, EAX and so on, so now if you have a game that uses this there WILL be a huge differents in sound quality. If in doubt, try running a game that gives you the options of 32-64 sounds. /22/44 Khz. EAX. EAX HD . Now lower everthing the way it would be using onboard sound.
Now put everything at max. Hear the diff? You should.
Install Rainbow six Ravensheild. YOU WILL HERE just how freaking good the ZS is. YOU WILL NOT get sound like this useing onboard.
Hope this clears things up.
Oh, the ZS can cure cancer but only if you li've on Jupiters moon U.

I just bought and installed a new Audigy SE, immediatelly after turn on the computer via Windows Update download and installed the drivers and that worked fine with playback but the mic sounds in very low, I even tried to manually edit the mic boost registry but still the mic is practically useless. These are the drivers:?[img"]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/javiersf/AudigyDrivers.jpg">?Another trouble: At the same time Windows Updated downloaded the Audigy Vista, I downloaded the new Audigy drivers for Vista posted on June 25th, but when I try to install them I receive this error message:[img"]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/javiersf/ErrorVistaDrivers.jpg">?I even restored my system just before the windows update driver was downloaded and installed but?still I receive this error. I tried to manually delete the drivers, uninstall the audio card and the restore it, but still I am getting this error and I'd like to take advantage of this driver and software to see if that will fix the problem with the low power mic.

@javiersf; if I were you, I would give back that soundcard back and wait further for some support from Creative. 'cos , there is not a good support for Audigy users, especially for "LS/SE/Value" users; I don't recommend that card to anyone.
BTW, there is not a driver for Mic Boost, since the first Vista driver released. You should find an alternati've way (like using mic from Onboard sound card) or you have to use your mic like it's now.

  • New Audigy Beta Drivers did they add EAX 4.0 to an Audigy 1 Platinum

    Hello,
does the new Audigy Beta Drivers add EAX 4.0 Support to an Audigy Platinum ?
    Greetings Picard007

Audigy (hardware base one) supports EAX3 (EAX Advanced HD) hardware. Audigy2 suports EAX4 hardware. EAX4 is supported with latest OpenAL drivers on compatible hardware.
    More: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environ...dio_extensions
    Quote:
EAX has nothing to do with actual 3D audio positioning. Positioning is done by Microsoft's DirectSound3D API. An alternati've to DirectSound3D, called Open Audio Library (OpenAL), surfaced in 2003 in several titles. OpenAL allows direct hardware acceleration of audio, like DirectSound, including EAX. As of 2006, the API has been used in many popular titles including Doom 3 and Prey. These games support EAX 4.0 if audio hardware with an OpenAL-supporting driver is present.
Most releases of EAX versions coincide with increases in the number of simultaneous voices processible in hardware by the audio processor: the original EAX .0 supports 8 voices, EAX 2.0 allows 32 (Li've!), EAX Advanced HD (EAX 3.0) supports 64 (Audigy), EAX 4.0 again supports 64 (Audigy 2), and EAX 5.0 allows 28 voices (and up to 4 effects applied to each) (X-Fi).

  • Why doesn't my new Audigy 2 ZS sound better than my old Vibra, and what does emulated me

Hi there. I've bought a new Audigy 2 ZS to replace my fi've year old Vibra PCI 28, and imagine my surprise to discover there doesn't seem to be any difference in the sound quality when playing games. I was wondering if there's something I haven't set up properly, perhapse something not mentioned in the instructions that newbies usually miss.
Also, with my Vibra I had the volume sliders nearly at the bottom, but with the new card I have to put them half way up to get the same volume. Does that indicate a problem? (I use headphones and I have headphones selected under Advanced Audio Properties)
And on Dxdiag on the Sound tab it says the Audigy is Emulated. Should it say that?
Thank you kindly. I just need to know if I should be worried about any of this or if it's to be expected.

Thanks, I'll try that and put it in a different pci slot also.
I noticed after the software installation there was a lot of stuff being loaded at startup and I removed those with a little program I've got. Would that make a difference to this problem? I tried a game before removing them and didn't notice a difference though. Perhapse I shouldn't have been so quick to remove them.
One question... could you tell me if this bit in the instructions...
"Go to Control Panel, System, Device Manager button and delete sound card entries in Sound, Video and Game Controllers as well as any previous sound card entries from the Device Manager."
refers to Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Drivers, Media Control Devices and MPU-40 Compatible MIDI Device?Message Edited by Phil5000 on 09-03-2005 0:49 AM

  • New Audigy 2 nx - probably a stupid quest

I bought an Audigy 2 nx along with a new Dell XPS laptop. I want to play games. Do I have to hook up the Audigy to external speakers, or will it work with the speakers in the laptop? I have 2 sets of external speakers, very nice ones with subwoofer, etc., that I can use, but I travel alot, and in my down time, want to play games with really good sound. I use the external speakers with my PC at home.

    Catshavestaff
You will have to use external speaker to connect to the Audigy 2 NX for sound output. The built in speaker in the laptop is connected only to the laptop onboard audio and is not able to be connected to the Audigy 2 NX for output.

  • New Audigy Value card completely nonfunctional in windows server 2

    Hi all,
I just bought a new Creative Audigy Value card for use in a windows server 2008 system that will control the electronic school bells system in the academy I work at. It's desperately important that we get a sound working on this server so that the bells can ring again.
Anyway, so here's the problem - the sound card, once installed, says that it is installed properly (i've used x64 vista drivers .0077 and .0065A from creative's website, installed and reinstalled several times) but in the vista system tray, it just shows the speaker with the X on it. When you click "go to mixer" it says "there are no audio devices installed."
In the audio properties, you can see the icon for the "sound blaster audigy", but although you can SEE the buttons for "configure" and "test" - clicking on them yields nothing at all.
I'm really at my wit's end here. The school needs its bell system, which this server plays through it's sound card. What can i do to get this sound card working like it's supposed to be? any ideas?

Yes, well, the box in the store had a sticker on it that said it was compatible with Windows Vista 64bit and 32bit, so I assumed that a 64bit server would be fine for it, but perhaps my assumption was incorrect.
At least if you tell me, that you're 00% sure that this card is not compatible with Server 2008, I will be able to move on and look for something else and use this card for a workstation instead.
As for the first commenter - thanks, but yeah I had already made sure that both the audio service and audio endpoint driver were automatically starting up with the server, so that's not the issue.
So, Mr/Ms Creative Moderator - I checked the page and it does not specifically mention Server 2008, just Vista. Can you let me know for sure that this card is not compatible? If you can tell me no, at least I can write it off as a stupid mistake. If you tell me that it should work though, I feel like I will have to keep trying to force this one to work.
    Thanks!

  • Problems with new Audigy driv

<p class="MsoNormal">I have just installed a Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum Model SB0090 to replace my old SB Li've. When upgrading from older Audigy drivers to the latest drivers available on the Creative support website, I find that they cause serious problems with my 4. digital speaker system (Boston BA7500G). With either of the newest drivers installed, when I adjust the volume using either the Creative Surround Mixer or the Creative Remote Control, it causes the rear speakers to stop working. Closer investigation revealed that moving the volume slider in Creative Surround Mixer had a strange effect in Windows Audio Control Panel. Upon opening the Speaker Volume tab in Windows Audio Control Panel, it revealed 8 speaker channels (suggesting that it detected the Audigy card as a 7. when in fact it only supports? 5.). When I moved the volume slider on the Creative Surround Mixer (in either direction) it had the effect of moving all but three of the speaker volume sliders in the Windows Audio Control Panel (Right Channel, Left Channel and Channel 8) to zero, with the result that the rear speakers stopped working. Inm other words, Windows was insisting that the speaker setup was 2. and not 4. as in the Surround Mixer selection. ?It made no difference if either or both of the checkboxes ?Synchronize with Windows Control panel? in Creative Audio Console or ?Move all sliders at the same time? in Windows Control Panel were checked or not. This problem is present in both SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe and SBAX_PCDRVBETA_US_2_8_000.exe. It does not appear to be present with the older driver SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe, so for now I have rolled back to that. In fact, with SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006.exe Windows Audio Control Panel only shows 2 channels in the Speaker Volume tab; Left Channel and Right Channel, but all speakers in my 4. system work and the controls in Creative Surround Mixer and Remote Control all work fine. I would like to be able to take advantage of the fixes available in the two newer drivers but they cause me serious problems. Can anybody help? Finally, the presence of a beta driver on the website suggests that a newer version is coming soon. I wonder?if this issue be addressed with the new driver.

I have some problem as you with new drivers SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe and SBAX_PCDRVBETA_US_2_8_000.exe. Only in my case I use SB Audigy and headphone 5.. Always when I check 5. in Audio Console it reset to 2.. I can set 2. or headphone only.Message Edited by AlkaliX on 09-3-2008 09:53 AM

  • Scared to install new Audigy 2 Va

    Hello,
I just bought a new retail Audigy 2 Value as an upgrade to the onboard audio on my 3 week old HP Media Center PC. After browsing the forum and hearing all the problems people have had I am afraid to install the card. I share the PC with my wife who uses it daily for her work, and who has previously been unamused by my self-inflicted computer problems. I have already upped the RAM and upgraded the graphics card but am almost ready to return the card unused. Anybody got any good news regarding Creative hardware and/or drivers?
If I decide to give it a try I presume I can disable my onboard audio by using Device Manager under Hardware and leave any existing sound drivers on my system, such that I may easily go back to my current sound setup. Yes or no?
    Thanks for any replies.

just put the card in a free pci slot, and not shared with other pci slot.(so near the card we prefer a empty pci slot. Also keep it away from your agp card(not directly near it, agp shares with first 2 pci slots) a video is audio and video at the same time, that's why
if you've installed the card, start the computer up (don't change bios , because if your computer has irq sharing onboard(normally they have) then you can use more then one or two soundcards, it sholdn't have to give any conflicts.(it's even handy to have more then one soundcard).
If windows is starting and also gives messages about hardware found , do cancel it all. Don't let windows install it , this because i prefer a install direct from cd.(otherwise you'll get windrivers , and then when running cd, then it updates again to creative drivers(who're more up to date).
So cancel windows found new hardware , and just run the setup (installation) from Creative CD..
after that, check if windows is updated , after that go do a creative webupdate (you can find it on this site, unfortunately it only works under InternetExplorer)
just don't be afraid of your compu dude , it should be viseversa, LOL
(maybe first backup your documents(of your wife) on Cd-R(W) (or DVD-R(W)) just in case)
oh Jason: I'm happy with my Audigy2zs, sounds so crystal clear on 2xstereoamps & 4x discospeakers (quaddrosetup)now i'm a DVD-A collector but now i want to buy a A2zs dri'vebay...in a Store @ NL, and Linux support (same features as Windows)!

  • New audigy zs 2 video with Inspire 6.1 6700 speakers

hi, i had up til recently used a usb external extigy. i had ongoing issues with popping. then finally after leaving it disconnected and unplugged for a few days it decided not to power on when plugged in again.
so i decided to buy the usb audigy zs 2 video device.
got it today connected the device on its own first via usb installed software. have yet to install the may 10th updates.
i connected the green, black, orange minijacks from the inspire 6.1 6700 , i also connected the optical cable from my satelite decoder which i had previously done on the extigy and worked fine.
i initally got some sound when i turned on the speakers with the DIN connected rotating dial, but noticed that when i tried to up or down the volume the sound died and came back when dial was near middle.
i have since rebooted, rechacked cables but now i have no sound at all.
i have opened the windows xp sound volume panel and click on the sliders i can hear wave pings when you click on the sliders to move them so some sounds are working.
i cant hear anything on the digital optical in. i also tried connect ing my x360 box to the optical but getting nothing.
i just tested with a midi file, i can hear it but it sounds odd not as crystal clear as you would expect.
sorry to go on but after spending so much, its should be very easy to get running properly. i shouldnt be having these problems. i am currently downloading the new drivers and updates.
can someone clarify should the 6700 inspire 6.1 work fine or not with e audigy zs 2 video usb box?
is some special way they should be connected, DIN to DIN instead of the 3 minijacks (front, rear and center)?

i've got the inspire?5. and my controller is gone i cant get parts anywhere aswell and creative dont make it anymore although they told me that the inspire 2600 controller works with it aswell but i cant get bits for that either,
give creative a call although the number isnt on there website because they are a bunch of retards just do as if you are ordering something over the phone and then ask to speak customer services and they will give you the number but the call centre is in dublin so go on the net and search for liek a number to call before it to make it alot cheaper. while your on the phone ask if they got any of mine in yet while your at it lol cheers

  • New Mic + New Audigy 2 Platinum = Lots of Background No

I just purchased a new microphone and the Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platinum. I linked the microphone I'm using below. I have installed all of the drivers for the Audigy card and noticed when I am trying to record voice, I hear a substantial amount of background noise even in a completely silent room. I have included a link to a test mp3 and wav below where you can hear what the mic sounds like. I have the mic plugged into the back of the soundcard.
I have also attempted to move the microphone closer to my mouth, farther away, facing different positions, etc... Nothing really seems to work. It also sounds a bit quiet even with the volume turned all the way up.

  • Will there be new Audigy 2 Drivers for XP64? Or N

Will there be new drivers for XP64 and the Audigy 2? I FINALLY found why my Audigy 2 gives no sound in the center or rear channels. I have more than 2 GT of RAM. In my case I have 4G of ram and the I/O space used by the Audigy is mapped above the 2.8 GB boundary of XP and the drivers do not work. If I do a /maxmem=4096 in my boot.ini, everything works as it should.
So I know this has n=been reported for the XFi, and a fix will come, but will a fix come for the Audigy?
    Thankws

I also have the problem with Pinnacle PCTV/Audigy 2, reported by numerous users both in SB and Pinnacle forums. (The problem in short, is that if Timeshifting is enabled in PCTV Vision, the line-in is muted when recording, resulting in silent recordings. Effecti'vely, this means the timeshifting feature does not work with Audigy 2) I have an on-going support case with Pinnacle, but they do not seem to acknowledge the problem; they just go on about updating drivers and re-installing the software. Clearly, the problem is a quirk with Audigy 2 that PCTV does not handle. So who to blame? To add to my frustration, I discovered that my Audigy 2 is a Dell OEM version, so even if Creative were to fix this, I would have to wait for a Dell specific version of the driver. Sorry for all the negativism, but I needed to vent...
On the positi've side, I did discover a work-around that actually seems to work. I can enable the integrated sound on the mother board, connect the PCTV card to the integrated line-in and the head phone jack to the Audigy 2 line-in. Then configure PCTV to record sound from the integrated sound. This is not ideal, but again, it works

Hi, I have an audigy , and I just looked on the creative website and amazingly there are new drivers available (SBAX_WEBUP_LB_2_08_0004.exe). Whats new and or improved about these drivers?
I'm currently using the AUD_EAX4DRV_0303.exe drivers with the AUD_WEBUP_PCWDRV_-84-40.exe update. Shall I upgrade?
Is there a driver only install version of these available?

You can perform the "drivers only" install by downloading the file from CT Support, extracting it to your HD and excuting the ctzapxx.exe.
Extract the SBAX_WEBUP_LB_2_08_0004.exe using winrar (or equal software) --> find the file named ctzapxx.exe (SBAX_WEBUP_LB_2_08_0004\Drivers\support\i386 -folder) and run it.

  • New Audigy ZS drivers are ready, why the wait for them thou

I am sure just about everyone knows this but at the US Creative site you can D/L the latest X-FI driver set.
Now if you open them up with winrar there it is, the Audigy 2 ZS driver set ready to use. You can change a few exe files to get them to load for your Audigy cards. They are abviously ready then.
A freind who I was chatting with via IRc did extract and install the ZS drivers ( though now his media source fails to fuction properly as he messed it up due to over excitment. LOL ) but he states that BF2 runs 00% better. No where near as much stutter, sounds is cleaner and sharper and EAX seems to be a little bit more louder/clearer ( Note: EAX does indeed work with Audigy 2 ZS cards but it is set very low for some reason that has me baffeled as to why, proberly to try and sell more X-FI cards, who the hell knows ) plus all other games have a much cleaner, richer sound.
So it seems that Creative have indeed created a killer set of Audigy drivers ( TOP JOB FROM MY SOURCE ) but why no release yet ? I am sure you know they are fine and tested them yourself.
Anyway, I do have the deepest respect for the Creative team and dont mean to be pushy but PLEASE release these killer drivers ASAP.
Like my freind said, ( although he stuffed something up with media source )
"They ROCK and BF2 is a new game because of them".

How cool is that hey, awesome. man i have to get offline and install them NOW!
Be back later on with input.

    All apps work perfectly.
BF2 sound is better, infact I can hear more going on than I could before so I would say 00% improvement, and less stutter.
Creative you have made my day.

  • When are Creative going to release NEW Audigy 2 ZS drivers? (CAT/ADMINS plz read last pos

    <SPAN>Hi
<SPAN>First and foremost I would like to emphasise this post is by no means a flame against the hardworking staff at Creative Labs, but more of a curious question.
<SPAN>I am a relati'vely happy owner of an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum PRO. Apart from a few niggling teething problems which were sorted out extremely well by Technical Support (they even shipped me a newer revision of the driver installation CD free of charge) I have had no problems!!!
<SPAN>HOWEVER, Doom3 version .3 added OpenAL and EAX 4 support, which as you might have guessed is good news for us Audigy2/ZS/4 owners.
<SPAN>Unfortunately to get the best out of Doom3 I had to download BETA drivers, this was not really a problem since they are relati'vely stable, but these drivers do have a few niggling problems.
<SPAN>For Example, the THX Setup console does not remember the speaker position settings. AND Half-Life 2 requires the speakers to be set each time I enter the game.
<SPAN>E.g each time I load Half-Life 2 I have to set the speakers to 7. surround (pre BETA drivers did not have this problem)
<SPAN>It would be nice if somebody from Creative was to either release an updated version of the BETA driver (preferably non-BETA), an updated THX setup console, OR to inform us when a new Driver and applications will arri've.
<SPAN>Not meaning to sound rude, but FOUR MONTHS is rather a long time for a Driver to stay in Beta status.
    <SPAN>Thanks for your time
    <SPAN class=time_text>
    <SPAN>Cat top day to you!
<SPAN>I have a suggestion, or rather proposition that Im sure allot of folks here will agree with. <IMG height=6 src="http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-happy.gif" width=6 border=0>
<SPAN>How about instead of the preview site http://preview.creativelabs.com being used exclusi'vely for releasing beta <SPAN>64Bit drivers for public testing (which next to nobody uses). How about you (Creative) extend public beta testing to <SPAN>32Bit drivers and applications for release on the http://preview.creativelabs.com website ?.
<SPAN>Imho it will make the official drivers much more stable and worthwhile for the average user. It is just a thought and suggestion .<IMG height=6 src="http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-happy.gif" width=6 border=0>

That would be fantastic CAT if you could fill us in on driver update. 4mths is a bit much.
I use the beta's ATM jut to test em out and give feed back on how they work.
Still no EAX in BF2, However I get better performance and no more sound drop out, YAH. TOP JOB TEAM !!!!
Seem stable and all console apps work fine.
Though I still get NO eax ( reverb, occlusion ) in the following games.
    Soldier of fortune 2
    Starwars BattleFront
Call of duty and Call of Duty UO
    Painkiller
    BattleField Vietnam
    GTA SA
    UT 2004.
Hmm, thats alot of games that STATE EAX that I dont get it with. Even with other drivers I still get no EAX.
I do get AWESOME EAX in these games though.
    Rainbow SIX raven sheild
    Theif 2 DS
    V8 supercars 2
    Colin MCrea rally 4
So my card is fine and working perfectly.
Hope the next set fixes everything up EAX wise.

  • Digital output problem with new Audigy 2 driv

I updated to the 02.08.0004 drivers today and everything seemed fine till after I calibrated my speakers within speaker settings. I have Z680s hooked up to a Audigy 2 PCI card using both digital out and analog. As with previous drivers I calibrated using 6 Channel direct input.
Anyway, the problem is that when I use windows media player or any other media app, with the speakers set to Coax input (digital) I get the sound coming from the rear 2 speakers, instead of through the front 2 as it should. However, this only happens if I choose a speaker calibration under speaker settings.
It's a bit annoying because I didn't have this problem before. Anyone else have this problem or a solution? Or is it a case of Rolling back to an old driver and hoping the problem doesn't stick?
    Thanks

    Anyone have any ideas?
