New "Autofill your contact info" prompt

I have two autofill-related questions.
First, when I'm on the PajamasMedia comment site and similar places, it used to be that when I typed the first few letters of my email it would fill it in.  So I would type in "d" and "[email protected]" would come up.  Now I type "da" and it asks if I want to autofill from contact info.  I say yes and all it fills in is the email.  This is awkward and annoying, while the old way "just worked".  Is there any way to switch back?
Here's a related question: My local public library has a really nice web site that lets me track what books I have out, etc.  However, it uses a security system worthy of the military - a long ID number like "4111000029449" and a four digit PIN.  Both are entered using password fields, which makes them very secure but hard to get right.  I would love to simply autofill the ID and PIN, just like any other username/password combination, but since they are not set up with the standard password field names, it doesn't seem to be possible.  Is there any way to autofill an arbitrary form like this?
Thanks!
David

David...
1.  Go to Safari / Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Make sure all three boxes are selected.
2.  Try using a different browser. Reason being, some sites work differently with the autofill feature on different browsers.
If you don't have another browser installed, it's good to have one for situations like this and in case Safari isn't working, you have a backup browser.
I go back and forth between Safari and Firefox all the time.

  • The "autofill your contact info" doesn't work and doesn't go away

When I'm filling out a form the Autofill your contact info box pops up, but when I click on it, it turns blue, then does nothing. And I can't get rid of it unless I close Safari. Is there a fix for this?
    thanks!

if connected to the computer you can restore it to factory settings using itunes

  • Location-based reminder mixes-up my contact info when selecting "home" on the first reminder to a friend's home

When I set my first location-based reminder, I set it to arrive at a friend's house. However, now the Reminders app thinks that my friend's place is my "home." His home, work, etc numbers all appear as the default entries, thinking they are my addresses when creating a new reminder. Furthermore, suddenly his picture was tied to my account, even on my computer when logging into iCloud!
I looked everywhere and could not find this issue reported.
Is there any way I can change it so that my home actually is my home, the default locations are my locations, and my picture is my real picture?
And most importantly, if it cannot be fixed, given that my friend's picture and addresses are now tied to my info, is there anything else that is now mixed-up in my iPhone/iCloud account and contact info?
    Thanks much for your help!
    MikeY
EDIT: I think I fixed this issue ( ! ) doing the following:
I deleted every reminder from my phone
Next I turned off Reminders under my iCloud settings. (On the iPhone under Settings->iCloud)
When prompted, I selected to delete local reminders on my iPhone that were formerly synced.
Next I turned the Reminders back on.
Now I re-entered the Reminders app, and created a new reminder.
This time I made sure to set my home as the location.
Once saved, all further location-based reminders correctly identify my home/work/etc...and now my friend's home is added as a "Custom Location"
Did this fully fix the issue? ...Hopefully this will help others that may see this problem....

There is a new "My Info" part in the Mail, Contacts, Calendars section.  Make sure your contact info has been selected and then Reminders will default to both your home and work addresses.

  • My contact info keeps changing between my iPhone and iPad on its on.

For some reason my contact info changes on its own between my iPhone and iPad.  I can add a new photo and contact info and then
For some reason I look the next day and the pictures gone and contact info isn't there?

well the way icloud works besides the back up part of it is if you add a contact on your phone it will go to any other device that has the same apple id on it, Why the info is change im not sure about that but you can try turning off icloud and see if it still happens

  • How to get your contacts to your new phone

These days, most of us live ane die by our mobile phones - our personal and business lives revolve around them; and yet technology moves so fast that our phones become outdated and are replaced so quickly. Luckily, the days when buying a new phone means that you have to laboriously re-enter all of your precious contact numbers are long gone.
There are a number of different ways that you can transfer contacts between your old and your new phone, including:
    1. SIM CARD
The original and simplest way to port your contacts is via the SIM card. This system sells itself on the ease of use and the fact that it guarantees universal compatibility, but this simplicity also brings with it the inflexibility - the SIM card can hold just one name and one number per contact, and a typical limit the number of contacts it 250, so it is rapidly ending its tenure as a medium for the storage and transfer of contact information.
    Advantages: Ultimate cross-device compatibility
    Disadvantages: Limited capacity
    2. BUSINESS CARDS VIA BLUETOOTH
Bluetooth connectivity allows data to be relayed between two phones within a range of about ten metres. All Bluetooth-enabled phones can send and receive contacts as vCard files, which allows you to transfer a complete contact to another phone with ease. Using the "Mark/Unmark" feature of your Nokia device, you can also send a batch of contacts at once - the phone still makes a separate transfer per contact, but provided the two devices are paired and set to automatically accept transmissions from each other, you can set things in motion and put the kettle on whilst the phones do most of the hard work - it's as easy as Options>Send business card>Via Bluetooth. The down side is that the vCards go into the Received Files folder of an S40 phone or the Messaging inbox of a Symbian smartphone, you will need to individually save each contact transferred to your address book, so it still isn't an ideal solution for large numbers of contacts.
Advantages: Quick and easy, wide compatibility, all contact information can be transferred
Disadvantages: Still laborious in the case of large numbers of contacts, bulk sending may not work correctly from a different brand of phone.
    3. DEVICE-TO-DEVICE SYNC
Many Nokia phones have a Synchronisation or Switch feature which allows you to transfer personal data such as contacts between compatible devices. This is an effective method to transfer data, but unfortunately different versions used in different phones (depending on age and OS) mean that even two different Nokia devices might not be compatible for this method.
Advantages: Easy to use and almost entirely automatic
Disadvantages: Not a reliable cross-platform method
    4. SERVER SYNCHRONISATION
A growing feature of the mobile internet is the ability to transfer your phone's personal data with a remote server, which is not necessarily the ideal way to transfer between devices but gives the added functionality that you can recover your data wherever you are in the world as long as you have internet access through your phone, so if you lose your data (or even your entire phone) on a business trip abroad, you don't have to wait to get home to recover it. An example of a server synchronisation service can be found at www.ovi.com
Avantages: Remote storage of data means you can use anywhere
Disadvantages: System still in its infancy for personal consumers
    5. PC SYNCHRONISATION
Using Nokia PC Suite, N-Series PC Sutie or Ovi Suite you can synchronise your PIM (Personal Information Management) data with your PC (Outlook, Outlook Express, Vista Contacts, Lotus Notes etc.), allowing it to be subsequently transferred to another Nokia device. For Mac users, there is Apple's iSync software which does the same thing, though whilst it makes transfer between different brands of phone possible it does not guarantee compatibility with all phones from any manufacturer.
Advantages: Any PC-connectivity-enabled Nokia phone is compatibile (PC only), cross-brand support (Mac only)
Disadvantages: Synchronisation software not always reliable
    6. CONTENT COPIER
Using Nokia Content Copier from any of the three PC Suites mentioned above, you can copy all or a selection of personal data from your phone into a backup file that can be restored to your phone after a repair or update, or transferred to another compatible phone. This gives ultimate protection as almost all of your phone contents can be saved, but the big downside is that this method is no use to you if you are coming to Nokia from another brand. Wise users back up their phones with Content Copier regularly to ensure that nothing is lost if the phone is lost, stolen or broken. Me, I remember to do it now and again
Advantages: All data can be backed up, and most data can be restored to most Nokia phones
Disadvantages: All of the big manufacturers have their own version, but they are not inter-compatible

Is there a phone number to call Adobe.  I go around an endless loop pressing their contact info tabs?  Maybe someone at this sight can help. I am new to digital photo - I have been a B&W film photographer for many years. I have a problem with a Macbook Air.  It was working fine - I was using LR and a message came on the screen that said something like the memory was dangerously low.  I stopped and tried to delete LR files.  I couldn't do it.  I closed the program and tried reopening and got the message that there is not enough memory available to open LR.  I contacted Apple.  They spent a half hour on the phone with me and eventually told me they didn't know how to help. The tech said that LR had gobbled up all the memory and said I should contact Adobe and ask where and how my photo files are stored and to delete them.  I have several back-ups.  Thanks - Arthur

This sort of error message only comes up for Lightroom when your hard disk is full. Indeed this has nothing to do with internal memory as that will be intelligently be dealt with. If you have a mac Book Air that is not so surprising as the cheapest versions come with very small hard disks and if you shoot raw with any recent camera, you'll fill up your hard disk very quickly and you can probably only store a few months of pictures if you are a typical photographer. So the bottom line is that you need to create some room on your hard disk. You should move some of your originals to an external hard disk. You can also delete some of your backup copies of your catalog file that Lightroom automatically generates every few days and that quickly gobble up hard disk space. So first figure out how full your hard disk is. To see that, go to the apple menu, hit -> About this Mac -> More info->Storage. You should see your internal hard disk on top and you'll find that it is almost entirely full with photos. Now find your Lightroom catalog file using Finder. It is usually in a folder in the Pictures folder in your home directory. You should see a Lightroom 5 Catalog.lrcat file, a previews file and a folder called backups. Inside the backups folder, you'll find a lot of subfolders. They have names that show the dates the backups were created. If you have backups of your entire hard disk, you can delete these backups when they are older than a few months. I usually only keep the last 4 around. Just drag the folders into the trash can on the dock on the bottom of your screen and empty the trash. This will probably free up enough space that Lightroom will already run again. Now start thinking about where you will want to store older images. If you have a good USB3 or Thunderbolt hard disk that is probably the best option. There is a video here by Adobe that has some instructions on how to do this: Is Your Hard Drive Full? Here’s How to Move Images to Another Drive in Lightroom. « Julieanne Kost's Blog If that doesn't work because you don't have enough hard drive space to run Lightroom yet, here is another set of instructions to move your files using the finder to the other hard disk: How do I move only my photos to another hard drive, leaving the catalog where it is? - The Lightroom Queen. If you follow that, as soon as you confirm all your images are on the new hard disk, you can delete them from your internal one. She is not so clear about that part but if you don't delete the originals that you moved off you don't free up space. You should move the folder structure over to the new hard disk and then reconnect the folders in Lightroom. That should make it refind all your images.
That said, if you are uncomfortable with the computer in itself, your best bet is to find a local photography club. There is invariably a Lightroom savvy person in there that could help you move your files. That might be your best bet if you are uncomfortable moving these yourself. A general mac savvy person like you would find at an Apple store or so generally will not be able to help you with this except when they are photographers themselves and know Lightroom. You might get lucky with that.

  • I have an IPhone 4 and usually have no problem texting.  However, a friend got a new Samsung phone and is not receiving my texts.  I've checked all contact info and it's correct.  Any insight?

I have an IPhone 4 and have no problem sending texts usually.  A friend got a new Samsung and is NOT receiving my texts.  Contact info has been confirmed as correct.  Any suggestions or insight?

Thank you for being patient with a "beginner" :-) I have now realized that I had no understanding of how iCloud would affect things.
Calendar: On the iPhone I have set the default calendar to "From my PC" and now things are working ok. I have done the same on the iPad and this is also working ok. I accept that to keep things in sync I have to connect (by USB) to the PC but this is ok.
Contacts: I was about to make the equivalent changes regarding Contacts and have done so on the iPhone only to find that there is no "From my PC" on the iPad.
Any suggestions/help would be much appreciated.
Would I be better off just getting rid of iCloud and going back to USB sync every now and then. This used to be fine for me. Perhaps I have been making things difficult by mixing iCloud with a non-iCloud device (the W7 PC).
Anyway, once again, many thanks for your patience.

  • Syncing new contact info on iPhone to iMac!

    Hello, HNY to all!
This may have been asked elsewhere in these discussion forums but haven't been able to find anything yet.
Over the last few months I've added new contact info directly to my iPhone and now want to sync this back to my iMac. Is this doable to sync info from iPhone to iMac?? I haven't tried this yet and don't want to lose any contact info.
    Thanks in advance.
    Dominic

When you sync your iPhone on iTunes, on the Summary page select Info and then select what you want to sync, in your case, sync Contacts.
If you have Mobile Me, check Contacts in the list of items you want to sync with Mobile Me.

  • How to correct safari autofill to my contact info, not my husband's

Autofill on my MacBookPro persistently uses my husband's contact info.  When I go into Safari Preferences, there is an "edit" option, but it only opens my husband's Contact Page to edit.  I cannot edit to change the contact page to my contact page.  How can I do this?

Select your card in Contacts. Then select
Card ▹ Make This My Card

  • How do I transfer my iPhone contact info to a new computer?

I bought an iPhone the first day they came out over a year ago online, but when it arrived by mail I found I couldn't sync it with my laptop computer because I was running 10.3.9, which didn't support iPhone. In order to activate my iPhone I had to go to a friend's house & use his computer, & I've been using it ever since to update my phone. Well, I finally bought a new computer & it's running MAC OSX 10.5.3, which is able to support my iPhone, so I don't have to use his computer anymore. How can I sync my iPhone with my new computer without losing my contacts? I don't care about my pictures, music, or videos, I just DON'T want to lose my contacts & email addresses, is there a way to transfer them from one computer to another? Somebody help me please

    Download Phoneview from http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/
Attach your iPhone, click on Contacts on the left, select a contact then select all and choose "Copy from" on the top and it will save all your contacts, complete, to a .vcf file, save it as contacts.vcf - or whatever.
When done you can double click the file and it will launch address book and give you the option to import and/or update. You can then sync with address book and your iPhone will be up-to-date :0)
I create a new list each time I add contacts etc just in case

when i start a new email, it shows some of my old email addresses. how do i get rid of the ones i dont want? they are not in my contacts info.

Unfortunately the Mail app on the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch does have the option to clear previous recipients. If you don't want to live with it, the only way to remove these cached email addresses from the Mail application is by restoring the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch as a new iPad/iPhone/iPod.  If you restore from backup, the cache is also restored.
