New battery, battery life really short

I've been looking into articles already on the community forum, but couldn't find a clear answer.
Since a couple of months I have a new battery, the old one broke down. But the new one already doesn't have long when it is off power.
When I charge it, it needs a few hours to charge, and when it's full and I disconnect the power adapter my battery lasts for just 3 hours.
I seriously don't think that is normal for a new battery, and deffinetely not in such a short time (a couple of months, I think 10 or 12).
Is there any way anyone knows how this is possible? I just checked my new battery and it said 10.8V -- 45Wh. My old one (I just checked) had the same info.
The power adapter I have is 60W: output + 16,5V -- 3.65A, input AC 1.5A 100-240V 50/60Hz.
Is the problem within the difference of Watt with the battery and adapter? Because when I got the new battery they didn't advice me (or tell) to check that
and maybe get a new adapter that fits the battery information.
My Macbook is old, a late 2008 version, so I can change the battery myself. And I would love to give it a few more years, but it just not that great when your
battery dies out so soon. It costs a lot of money to keep buying new ones.
It's a great computer, and someday I want to buy a brand new one, but for now this one is still working great.
So please tell me, is there anything I'm doing wrong? If I can get som info on how to change my battery life, that would be great.
I already know that it is better for the battery to keep it charged until it is full and dan disconnect the adapter and use the Macbook until tha battery is low,
and than connect it to the adapter again. That's what I know is best, but on the community forum I've read that for some batteries it is better to keep them
connected all the time. So what to do with my battery?
Thanks in advance!

The 3 hour time that I can use the battery fully charged, is only if I don't use my computer. If I use it, depends on which programs I use, the time gets shorter. This makes sense, but it is kind of frustrating that a battery dies out so soon even if you use your computer a lot. It would be easier if they were made to last longer in that kind of circumstance.
Yes I do use my computer a lot, listening music, watch a movie, and because for most of my work I need it and use programs like Photoshop, GoLive, Word, etc. Not all day of course, but these are things I think are normal to use. If you run these programs all day, of even use more programs at the same time, yes then I think your battery can die out sooner. But I use them at a regular basis, for my own private things.
Yes, sometimes I play a game, but nothing 'heavy' or that takes a lot of power.
Is it possible that because of the age of my Macbook it is beginning a little bit to much to handle for the Mac, and also the battery? Or doesn't that matter?
I'll calibrate the battery, and check if there is any difference.
Is there a way for my adapter to use it more efficiancy? Should I leave it connected while charged, or deconnect it and use my Mac until it needs to be charged again? What's better for the battery?

Once I downloaded the KitKat upgrade, i was unable to read text messages or MMS messages. Battery life really short, and now I'm unable to get it to load, phone is unusable. took phone into the Version store, and they were not able to get it to work either..

I have 3 Motorola M on my account, one updated correctly, and one has not been updated to the new version.  I have since taken the broken phone into the store, and they customer support people were not able to get it to load as well.  Pretty much told me there is nothing they can do to make it work again, But I can buy a new phone at full price since I still have 6 months on my contract.  Oh that's nice, I can see having to pay full price if the phone was broken by something I did, but not because of a software update. Its very frustrating and not right!

  • IPod touch 4G battery life is short

Hi, my iPod touch battery is really short.  I've had the iPod touch for about 5 months now and the battery is already bad.  To be more specific, it loses about 30 % of battery every 10-20 min when I am playing a 2d game(3d games take up more battery)With the wifi on and brightnes at 50 %  and it should last way longer that that!!!  Please help.  Thanks
PS my friend has a jailbroken iPod touch 4g and he was wondering if having a jailbreak on will reduce his battery life.

after the ipod'sbattery is flat charge it for 4hours to 100% battery.
if the battery is still going flat after a short time the battery needs replaced

  • Why is my battery life so short on Iphone 4?

Why is my battery life so short on my new I phone 4 with Verizon?

if you have checked the specs and it all works out, you can do a number of things. first i would suggest that for a dat you turn off 3G and cellular data to see if your service is running it  down. you can do thing by going to settings-general-network-then turning them off. if this still doesn't work then try running it all the way down to 0% then giving it a full charge. i noticed that if regularly if you run the app Battery Pro Boost Magic to see whats taking up so much of your battery. if all of this fails to work then your battery might be defective so contact apple and try to get it replaced.

  • Found the reason why my battery life was short

As topic says, I found the reason why my battery life was short.
Having had the Iphone 4 since launch, I've always been impressed by the battery life.
So when it started to go from 100% to 50% overnight, with no use I started wondering what caused this.
I my case it was the wireless network, before I used to have just one wireless router, but recently I bought a accesspoint using it as a signal repeater(booster), giving me 100 % wifi coverage at home.
Since the repeater has the same wireless SSID as the router it seems to confuse the iphone, making it switch between connecting to the router and the accesspoint nonstop and therefore draining the battery.
Disconnected the accesspoit and now things are back to normal.

If you have just one wireless router you can't turn the accesspoint off, you could try turning wifi off on the phone and see if that helps.
In my case the wifi range of the router and the accesspoint overlapped each other, making the iphone constantly switch between them.

  • My Brand New Nano's Battery Life is Short

I just got my first Ipod nano last week so this may be my fault cause I'm still learning. The first time I charged my battery it lasted about 3 hours. I though it may have been because it was new that it was depleted so fast. I fully charged it last night & have used it for about 2 hours and the battery shows only about 25% life left. Nowhere near 14 hours. Is it my Ipod or am I doing something wrong? Should I return it to the store from which I purchased it (this would be the 2nd return. My first one I bought 3 days earlier would get really hot on the back & start sounding scratchy)?

First, know that the meter is inaccurate. Just because it says half-empty doesn't mean it is half-empty. Also, the battery may not last the full 14 hours until after a few charge cycles, where you charge the battery, then use it all up, then charge it again.

  • My iPad mini3's battery life is short... Really short...

My ipad drains fast like playing clash of clans for a couple of minutes (15 -20) already depletes 23-25% of my battery life... ANd everytime i update to the lastest os, it just keeps on getting slower

    Hello francis lawrence alexander,
I'm sorry to hear you are having these issues with your iPad. If you are experiencing unusual battery drain and general slowness/unresponsiveness, you may want to see if any of your apps (particularly background apps) are consuming a disproportionte amount of usage (which equates to both battery power and processor power). You may find the following article helpful, in particular this portion:
iOS 8 is designed to be the most battery-efficient iOS ever. And it gives you more precise ways to manage your device’s battery life, because you can see the proportion of your battery used by each app (unless the device is charging). To view your usage, go to Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage.
Here are the messages you may see listed below the apps you’ve been using:
Background Activity. This indicates that the battery was used by the app while it was in the background — that is, while you were using another app.
To improve battery life, you can turn off the feature that allows apps to refresh in the background. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and set the switch to Off.
If the Mail app lists Background Activity, you can choose to fetch data manually or increase the fetch interval. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data.
Location and Background Location. This indicates that the app is using location services.
You can optimize your battery life by turning off Location Services for the app. Turn off in Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
In Location Services, you can see each app listed with its permission setting. Apps that recently used location services have an indicator next to the on/off switch.
Home & Lock Screen. This indicates that the Home screen or Lock screen was displayed on your device. For example, the display was awakened by pressing the Home button or by a notification.
If an app frequently wakes your display with notifications, you can turn off push notifications for the app in Settings > Notifications. Tap App and set Allow Notifications to Off.
No Cell Coverage and Low Signal. This indicates that either you are in a poor cell coverage area and your iOS device is searching for a better signal or that you’ve used your device in low-signal conditions, which has affected your battery life.
You can optimize your battery life by turning on Airplane mode. Swipe up to open Control Center and tap the Airplane mode icon. Note that you cannot make or receive calls while in Airplane mode.

  • 3G battery life-exceptionally short

hi.I bought my 3g 5 days ago.I was a 2g user and found the battery lasted well, normally a full day using everything.when firsy charging the 3g,I let the battery drain all the way down on the first time to calibrate.but the battery is lasting much shorter, even with 3g off.I tested by putting in airplane mode and playing music continuously....7.5 hours!
Has anyone had similar problems?could you fix it?would apple replace the unit if nothing fixes it?
Any info would be greatly appreciated,
    Nick

One thing I would add is that my first week and a half with my new iPhone 3G the battery life was exceptionally short. Read some posts about the battery needing to sort of 'break in' a bit and that's exactly what happened.
A week or so after getting it, the battery life stabilized with a much longer lasting charge. So I'd give it a little bit before getting really concerned. If this persists after a couple of weeks, then I'd definitely try to talk to apple care.

  • Battery Life is short and when i do charge the power supply gets to hot to touch?

Hi! I'm not sure whats Wrong with my MacBook Pro 15" - Mid 2010, i7, 4gb RAM, 512mb Graphics.
When i charge my MB it has a really short life (50 - 60 min) without using high demanding programs. I've had a look in system information and i found this;  Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 4858
im not sure what it should be but does it sound like a healthy battery?
My second question, the power supply is hot to touch is this a contributing factor? I took it in to apple and they suggested to buy a new charger, so £65 later and i still have the overheating of the power supply and the short battery life problems, HELP!

That is not a good sign.  Check the connection on the MBP to see if there is any foreign matter or discoloration evident.
Open System Information>Power and post this from your MBP:
(make certain that the charger is attached)
Also run an Apple Hardware Test.  You may use the appropriate original install disk for this which has the AHT instructions printed on it.
Note that an error free AHT is not definitive.
    Ciao.

  • 4S battery life astonishingly short

I am getting more and more frustrated by the incredibly short battery life of my new 4S.  I have tried numerous changes to different settings to keep the drain on it as low as possible.  I find I have to charge it several times a day which makes it useless when I am not in my car or near a plug.  The only thing that might work is to turn if off or buy a new phone!I

    This solved it for me:-
    - Go to Settings -> Location services -> System services
    - Set "setting time zone" to off
Reduced my idle power consumption from 10% per hour to 2-4% per hour. Massive improvement.

  • Battery life shows shorter time at 100% than before

I used to see over 2 days at full charge, but now I see 1 day 14 hours at most, any ideas of the issue? I have the latest possible update android 5. Maybe is the reason? Any calibration possible? Resetting some battery manager? Regards...

    Hi edokkir,
Some things you can try to maximise the battery life:
Turn off GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Mobile data when not using them
Put the phone on Stamina mode and/or Low batttery mode - these functions are under Settings > Power management.
Check the battery usage menu also under Settings > Power management to see which applications are draining the battery the most.
    Lower the display brightness
Lock the screen when not using the phone
Turn off phone or put into Airplane mode when there is no network coverage in the area as the phone repeatedly scans for available networks - which consumes power.
If you are using a Live wallpaper - change to a wallpaper that isn't live as this increases battery usage
Hope these steps help! Keep us updated.

  • Why is my battery life so short?

I bought a brand new battery but only get about 2hrs of life out of it.  I've gone through the support pages and tips for improving battery life, but it hasn't changed.  Can anyone help me with this?

Is it an Apple battery or a 3rd party knock off?
Do you have your brightness on full? A bright screen ***** battery life.
What are you running when you are using it? A bunch of apps? Watching movies? Playing games? Encoding video/audio?
There are a lot of reasons that a battery dies quickly, we need more info.
