New battery good for only 4 hours

I have just installed a new battery in my iBook G4. It shows a charge of 4 hours.
Is this normal?
Charles

Hi Charles,
Yes, four hours could be normal. You'll get more out of the battery by lowering the display's brightness to half, setting the processor to either automatic or reduced, turning off AirPort and not using the disc drive. Do all of those things and you'll get closer to Apple's claim of 6 hours (pretty much wishful thinking).
Also, follow Duane's advice and calibrate your new battery.

  • Which model (old or new) is good for battery life ...

hi. i want to buy old hp or maybe new model but don't know which is best for me. hope u can suggest to me which phone is good for battery life and signal receiver. thanks

    Hi wadud
Ironically the simpler the phone the more likely that battery lasts for ages and has less bulk to screen the signal. I have a 1100 for emergencies which holds it's charge for months admittedly switched off, whereas N82 Smartphone won't last the day in use without charge.

  • Battery life is only 2 hours. Which new battery?

    Hi,
I nearly have about 500 cycles with my macbook so i probably need a new battery. When I would buy one in an Apple store, can i buy one which also goes in the new macbook (pro) so I could also reach battery times of 5 hours+? Or do i need a specific battery for my 'older' macbook?
    Thx

Hi ricaaaaar: Yes, at 500 cyscles there is a very strong possibility that the battery is done. Yes, you do need the "older" style battery. The new style will not fit in your computer.

  • Suggestions for new battery replacement for 1st gen Ipod?

    Hello all,
I recently acquired my brother's 1st gen Ipod mini. I love the thing. As with others, I think I'm having troubles with battery life. I have played songs on it for around 2 hours today. At 1.5 hours of playtime, the battery life indicator was nearly empty (NOTE: I have read this article: http://www.vsa.cape.com/~danh/ipod.htm and I understand the "lying" battery life indicator). A half hour after this, the unit shut itself off: the battery's charge had been depleted.
I have been looking at ebay and there is one company selling a battery for under 10 dollars with shipping. They seem to be fairly reputable, claiming to be a top supplier of Ipod products and that the batteries it sells are superior to the ones that originally came with the 1st gen mini Ipods. They claim the batteries they are selling are " Internal Li-Polymer Apple Mini iPod Battery
    - 600 mAh (High Capacity)
    - 3.7 V "
I have ALSO seen a replacement battery for the Ipod mini claiming the following:
    " Voltage: 3.7V 550mAh "
    Yet another claims:
...our battery which is made and tested to the highest international standard gives you a capacity of 650 mAh which is 50% more than the original Apple battery. The original Apple iPod part number is EC003. This is a brand new high-quality generic (non-OEM) battery."
My question is has anyone replaced the battery on their 1st gen mini Ipod? What voltage and mAh readings should I get for the battery I buy?
    -Phillip

Anyone correct me if i'm wrong here but AFAIK:
Ok, the main thing to look for is the 3.7v rating. the mAh refers to milli-Amp hours, i.e. the amount of charge the battery can hold, not the current it outputs.
As long as it's 3.7v, it's cool. And the bigger the mAh, the better.
    Good luck in your replacement.

  • Batery life of new 30 gb ipod only 6 hours

Can it be right that my new ipod only provides 6 hours of normal use hours for only music playback ?
What should be the expected battery life ?
What should I do. All charging is done right and can´t be done other ways.

    Hi Michael,
    From the iPod Tech Specs:
"30GB: Up to 14 hours of music playback; up to 3 hours of slideshows with music; up to 2 hours of video playback."
If your battery is seriously underperforming I would send it into Apple for repair or replacement,

  • New battery culprit for noise or coincidence?

    Hi all,
I just bought an extra battery for my PB 1.67 (non dual layer) and I'm in the process of charging it. It is currently at 31%. However, I do notice a "shhhhhhhhoooo" sound, similar to what a sound TV makes when there's no broadcast (and displays the snow on the tube.) Is this the fan running? I hear it approximately from the center of the console. I did not notice this before and I'm almost 99% sure this did not happen when I had my original battery in there. I suppose I can live with the noise but just want to check if this is unusual and whether that extra new battery I got is the culprit. Thanks!

    Hi SU,
Thanks for the widget istatpro; looks awesome, although I don't pretend what all the data means exactly. The noise most likely is coming from the fans. Yes, after the new battery was fully charged, it still was making that "woosh" sound but dramatically less; like 50% reduction. When it was at this lower sound level, istatpro showed the rpm on both fans hovering around 7-800. As I have inserted another new battery to charge, the familiar "woosh" sound at the higher level I had complained earlier has come back. Istatpro has confirmed that the RPM has shot up to 9-1000 range. Analyzing the situation, it seems to me that initially charging a new battery seems to instigate these higher fan speeds. It seems to go back down after the battery has fully charged. Hopefully, this is a temporary thing. Thanks.

  • Required Delivery Date Not coming good for only few customers

    Hi Gurus,
I have a very peculiar problem, related to the RDD (Required Delivery Date) in Sales Orders.
We have configured the system with D+2 as the delivery date and the system is proposing us the dates accordingly.
Also above VOV8 configuration of Proposing of Delivery Dates we have a user exit working (Don't know why they have design this user exit when we have a standard functionality of proposing of RDD) which is putting the RDD to D+1.
Now when we just enter into VA01
The system ll show us RDD as D+2. (as per VOV8 config)
When we put the customer no. and press enter the above mentioned user exit ll activated and changes the RDD to D+1
Now the main issue is that, for only few of the customers the system picks up the delivery date as D+1 without considering the next day which is Saturday (which is wrong as per business process as we don't deliver on Saturday's).
For all other customers the system ll propose a correct delivery date of Monday when we enter the order on Friday.
What ll be the solution for this??
    Thanks in Advance
    Ajay

May be in the exit, any of the following would have been predefined to check
    a)  Account Group
    b)  Sales Area or Sales Office
    c)  Tax Classification
    d)  Account Assignment Group
Please compare this with one customer to whom, it is coming correctly.

  • I have a 2011 Mac Pro purchased in April. In the am the battery worked for my four hour class.  I went home and charged it FULLY- then took it off power source and it last 60 minutes using ONLY word, no other programs or wireless running?

I have restarted computer and reboot computer but that has not stopped it from draining.  I made sure all programs but word for calss was closed.  I also made sure that netwrok shut off and the display on hlaf contrast and got it last two hours this am.  WHAT IS GOING ON?  This laptop is 2/3 months old and NEVER had this problem.  It held charge for 5+ hours yesterday am for class, what could have caused this change?  THANKS

Most problems are from using the computer while updating; not repairing the boot drive ahead of time; forgetting to make a bootable backup. And restart before updating.
I would suspect an underlying problem.
    Startup Fails
    Login Problems
One thing I always do before an update is to run something like Applejack to clean the cache folders, make backup with SuperDuper, and run Disk Warrior.

  • I think that my iPod has something wrong, I use it normal and it has 33% for only 2 hours please help

I use my ipod normally: games, apps, wifi... Some weeks ago my baterry life came very bad,  6 hours and now only 4 i have ios 7.0.2. Sorry for my english. Please help

iOS 7 does drain the battery of an iPod 5g with only the a5 processor, if you have had it for a long time with a lot of use than that is probably the source of the problemo. You can go to an expert to replace the battery. Apple experts probs

  • Help with opinion on new battery... only 14 months old and its bad

Got an early 08 MacBook Pro 15.4" Coconut Battery says 167 cycles with 48% capacity remaining... Computer is 14 months old and it gets about 1.5-2 hours of battery to a charge..
Should i go for aftermarket or OEM battery replacement? Im going to Kuwait for deployment and need something that will last.. Apples OEM are expensive but i know you get what you pay for sometime but aftermarket batteries can be just as good..
Where is a good site to get one?? THANKS!

aftermarket batteries can be just as good..
You want to be certain that such batteries are not 'old stock' (as I had happen to me once).
