New Battery Not Reading Properly

I just bought a new battery direct from Apple for my 1st generation Macbook Pro, but it's been having trouble reading the levels properly. The highest it'll say it's charged is 4 hours, but when I unplug the adapter after 1 minute it'll say 30-60 minutes was drained, then again the same thing, then sometimes it'll bounce back up to an hour, then drain back down drastically.
I've bought a battery not long before this, but not from Apple. I've read the non original batteries not bought from Apple directly have problems like this. That one was doing the same thing, and after a month it left me with about 15-60 minutes of charge, so I had to keep it pluged into the adapter all the time. So, I figured I buy the OEM battery from Apple this time, but still the same issues. The only difference is the new OEM battery is not overheating like the last battery.

  • HT3964 Installed a new battery for a Macbook 2,1 New battery not charging. Battery symbol shows (Not charging) and replace battery. Green LED on magsafe connection. Disconnection results in an instant shutdown.

I have just installed a new Battery after the old one showed (Not Charging) and when you clicked on this icon the dropdown"condition replace now". Problem now is the computer still shows the same message in the top bar (Not Charging) and the dropdown also shows "condition relace now". the magsafe show the greem LED i.e not charging, but providing power. If you disconnect the magsafe the computer powers off instantly confirming we have power. I have carried out resetting the SMC controller and still no change. Tested the standby voltage on the magsafe pins etc, all in spec. What should I do now, as I don't want to keep spending more and more. Bellow is the info from the system profiler.

  • Why would new battery not charge?

I have an iPhone 5 with a 1 year history of good behavior.  I recently transferred my Sony-manufactured battery (date code=08/2014) to my daughter's iPhone 5 so that she could make an outbound airplane flight with a functioning phone.
There was evidence that daughter's battery had died, not been subjected to a bad or uncertified charger.  It would not charge on my known good chargers.  Her Lightning port was not full of lint.  After I transferred my good battery to her phone, her phone worked fine and she was on her way.
I discarded her suspect battery and installed a new one in my phone. Acquired from a well known supplier of batteries, t was a Sony-manufactured battery with a date code nearly identical to mine.  My phone booted up fine and showed 45% cell charge.  As the hours passed, the state of charge gauge indicated showed a battery of normal endurance.
However, at the end of the day this new battery will not accept a charge in my phone.
I am using the same known good chargers that I used previously.  I am an experienced iPhone disassembler.  My Lightning port is not "linted-up".  I admit that Apple's fine-pitch PCB connectors are a challenge even for experienced disassemblers but I believe that this battery transplant went OK.
    Any ideas?
If I did, in fact, damage the battery connector during transplant, wouldn't the phone have squawked error messages before refusing to charge.  There were no error messages or hints that the battery transplant had problems.

So, to clarify, you've opened up the iPhone, and replaced the battery yourself?
Are you an Apple Authorized Service Technician?
Apple doe snot supply batteries to third-parties.  Any iPhone battery you acquired is either:
    A) Counterfeit
    B) Stolen
    C) Salvaged from another unit.
Additionally, unless you are an AAST and were using an Apple-supplied battery, your device warranty and support is permanently voided.

  • Battery not performing properly

My iPhone 4 has started to not perform properly. It has the latest software installed but has started to switch itself off at random and also when charged overnight (last night) is only managed to reach 93% battery power.
It switches itself off when the power is at various stages ( not at any particular stage of depletion).
Sometimes when I retrieve it from my pocket it's off sometimes once I type in my password to wake it, it switches off halfway through.

Try fully discharging (till it shuts off and won't turn back on) and then fully recharging (100%) to reclaibrate your battery meter.  You might need to do this more than once, i.e. 2-3 times.  Once usually does it though.  Also, 5.0.2 may come out in the next week or two that might have more 'battery fixes'.

  • Took a document from Apple to PC and now it will not read properly

I recently bought a new Toshiba and updated my reader and a document I viewed for years now will not open properly. It says it is missing
    NISIZR+WhitneyCondensed-Medium
a font that was not even on my apple and therefore will not display properly. What gives?

Very difficult to say without seeing the actual document.

  • New battery not charging and no power supply reported

The battery for my G4 17inch powerbook had expired and a new one was needed. A brand new battery has been purchased and inserted into the machine. With the old battery the charger would go green then quickly amber before going off. With the new battery the light never comes on and in the battery info in the operating system it is listed as a new battery with 1 charge but the power supply section is not listing the power as connected. However with no batterys inserted the power supply will power and run the machine.
Can anyone offer any advise of something I could try or is it likely to be a dead laptop / charging circuit?
    Thanks

There's 4 components in the charging circuit: power adapter, DC-in card, battery, and logic board. If you can run on power without the battery, and does not run when you insert a battery, that suggests that the DC-in board may be OK. So ... power adapter works, assume DC-in card works, new battery assume it works ... if you accept those assumptions, then you have a logic board issue.

  • New Battery Not Recognized on HP Pavilion dv6-4052nr

    Hello,
So I have an HP Pavilion dv6 that I have had for about 4 years now. Everything works fine on it but within the last year the battery has slowly been unable to hold a charge. Until recently where it won't hold a charge at all and has to be plugged in. I ran a diagnostic test on it and it said that I needed to purchase a new battery. I purchased a new battery from online since I could not find a proper replacement from HP. This battery looks exactly the same as my previous battery and fits perfectly in the battery slot, but when I turn my computer on it does not recognize the battery is there. It did run off just the battery for about 30 minutes and then shut down. Now it won't charge and I have to run simply off it being plugged in. I did another battery diagnostic on my computer and it just says that it can't find a battery.
I know that many other people have had this issue with no way of fixing it and I have tried some ways to fix it such as turning the computer off, taking out the battery, holding down the power button, etc. They have not worked however. Is there any other fixes I can try or will I simply have to buy a new battery? Is there one that is more guaranteed to work through HP?
    Thank you!

    Hi @mimorgan ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6-4052nr  Notebook and issues with the newer battery. Here is a link to test and calibrate the battery.
Here is a link to your manual page 20 for the battery part number.  Yours is a 6-Cell 55WHr Lithium-Ion Battery and the new should match the specs.
What is the part number of the new battery?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I am using Java Scanner to read-in some numbers from a file.

In my code I am removing the first line, i.e title by using buffRead.readLine() and discarding it.
And later I start reading the actual data into some String variables.
I have found that this works sometimes.
Ideally JLE & JTE should be initialised to 28 and 73 respectively (starting numbers in input file).
But many a times JLE takes value 73 and further used variables reads into values in some random pattern.
What is the problem in my code?

  • ITunes on new computer not reading MP3 tags

I have transferred my library of MP3 that were ripped from CD from my old computer to my new computer, and many of the files do not show the album name or artwork, etc. in iTunes.  If I look at file properties in Windows, however, all the information is present for the MP3 - album, artist, etc.  I have found that there is a field called "Encoded by" and is says "iTunes 11.0.2.26", or some other is an older version of iTunes.  If this iTunes version is older than the latest version of iTunes on my new computer, then iTunes does not read the MP3 tags correctly.  If I manually change that iTunes version in Windows to the latest iTunes, then that file is fixed!!!
My question is, what is the fastest way to make this change for all the files that are showing old info in the "encoded by" field?  The files are all buried in various artis->album folders in the music folder, and I can't see any way to change this field from iTunes, I can only do it from windows explorer.  If I could do it in iTunes it would be fast because I could group all the bad files together, select them all, and change them in one step.
Please help!  I am close to fixing it!

Are you using the latest downloaded version of iTunes from Apple.com, instead of a version that came on disc with the iPod? According to this article, Windows Vista 64-bit required iTunes 7.6 or later

Try uninstalling all the MediaSource application and driver from the computer. Next go to the website and download the latest driver, MediaSource application and Nomad Pack. You will also need to install them as in the order above.
When installation of the driver, the player need not be connected but after you have finish installation of the driver, it will prompt you to connect the player and then follow which, you can install the MediaSource application and the Nomad Pack.

  • New Battery not working

I have a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5244 with windows 7 reinstalled from the disk on it, I have had 3 batteries sent from  laptopbatteryhq to me and when I plug them in, the computer does not want to turn on with or without the AC power adapter.
The new battery fits the terminals and is the correct voltage.
Is there any special driver or something I need to have to make this work?

    Satellite L755-S5244 (PSK1WU-05L004)
There's more to it than voltage and fit.
The spec above calls for a PA3818U-1BRS 6-cell battery..
If you go to Toshiba's battery finder and plug in part number PSK1WU-05L004, you get the same result.
    There's also a 12-cell battery.

  • Replacement battery not working properly

    Hello,
I have a G72 Notebook and I just recently bought a replacement battery that is not working properly.
I think that the laptop is just not able to communicate with the battery to find out how much power it has left.
I'm pretty sure that the battery is taking charge just fine (although the icon says, "plugged in, not charging" because I used it for a couple hours today and it never changed from "41%".
Right now it says "0%" but continues to power my computer if I unplug it.
I've tried cleaning the connectors and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the battery driver.
My old battery still charges just fine and works perfectly it just doesn't last more than an hour or so.
I ordered the replacement battery that it listed on my old battery, but it seems to not snap in quite right.
It fits in my computer, it just isn't as smooth to snap in as my old one is.  As far as I can tell it's exactly the same except I think some of the little plastic parts have slightly different sizes.
    Thanks for any help!

  • Satellite A300d - New battery not detected

    I recently got a new battery PA3533U-1B RS/AS for my aged Satellite A 300d.
When I place the new battery in the laptop, unplugged, press power button, the red battery indicator flashes several times, no power.
When i plug in the mains to the laptop, the red battery indicator stays red as-though charging, once windows has loaded the battery shows as Not Detected.
I have checked connection and gone through device manager- unistall/install but come to no luck. This is the 3rd replacement battery I've had from this company who have a very positive review. Is it my laptop or the battery?
I do have a good faithful 20 minutes battery that recognises every time and charges without a problem.
If you could please help it would actually stop me from going crazy, thanks in advance :)

    Hi Paolo,
Thanks for your reply. I have kept the battery on charge for 12 hours +, both the 2nd and 3rd battery I have received, and neither of them show as detected.
When the laptop is off, new battery in, ac in, red light stays on for about an hour then it continuously flashes. This happens with both. After charging it won't turn on until insert ac, then when windows loads, bat not detected.
When I put my original battery in in turns on without ac, and battery shows and info correct.
I will speak to the dealer again, I returned the 1st battery, once i reported 2nd one faulty, he sent me a 3rd. The dealer has really positive feedback and good comment, it's just baffling?!
    Thanks again for your help.

  • New MBP not reading *SOME* DVDs

    Hey guys,
I became the proud owner of a 2.4GHz MacBook Pro yesterday, and absolutely love the thing. However, one small problem.
For the most part, it does play discs. I've watched several DVDs, have installed iWork, used the AppleCare disc, installed VMWare Fusion AND installed XP as a virtual machine. The problem is that a select few DVDs won't work - out of 50 or so different seasons of TV shows, the only two to do it so far are Disc 2 of Family Guy Volume 6 and Disc 1 of American Dad Volume 3. The computer will sit there trying to read them, it keeps spinning it every ten or so seconds as if it's trying to mount it, and in the end I just have to eject it - it never gets recognised and isn't displayed in Finder, and isn't recognised in XP via VMWare Fusion either (all DVDs mentioned are Region 4, by the way, which is the region that DVD Player is set to already).
However, the discs are recognised and play without fault in my April '08 alu iMac...
I'm thinking that it's the discs themselves, and that the superdrive in the MBP simply can't read them, as it has no problem reading any other DVD, these two are the only ones doing it. The OS X install DVDs are recognised, by the way.
Should I be worried about it being an actual problem with the superdrive?
Message was edited by: Ivan P

Given that 48 of 50 discs are read correctly, the likelihood seems high that the discs that won't play are at fault. The drive in the MBP may be slightly more sensitive to minor dirt or damage than the other drive(s) in which those two discs are read properly.
