New BBC HD channels, signal strengh

Hi all,
Having an issue with the new BBC HD channels, all previous HD channels like ITV HD or BBC HD have a signal strength of 70% and quality of 100%. However the new channels are all signal quality 49-50% and quality 100%. The problem being that they cause my amp to drop out sound for a second and it happens quite often. Any reason why these channels are lower strength?

No they won't be 'turning the juice up'. The power is limited by the equipment they are using and the need to limit interference between transmitters on the limited number of channels they are using.
If your signal is marginal but Digital UK say you are in an area that should get the signal then I would suggest reviewing your aerial installation and seeing if it can be improved to increase your signal - for example your aerial May be the wrong group for the COM7 frequency.

  • Change form of output signal without initializing new process of output signal

    Hello!
    How to change form of output signal produced on the output channel without initializing new process of output signal?
    Thanks

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I'm working with LabView 8.5.1.
    I have periodic TTL impulse with constant frequency – signal to start , which I'm used to start data acquisition (PCI-6251)and generation signal (PCI-6221).
    When TTL signal a detection, necessary generation some analog signal (PCI-6221) and acquisition other analog signal (PCI-6251).  Then wait following TTL signal.
    At this moment I write the part of the program which is responsible for data acquisition. Function retriggering (In examples C:\ProgramFiles\National Instruments\LabVIEW8.5\examples\DAQmx\Synchronization\Multi-Function.llb\Multi-Function-CtrRetrigg Pulse Train Generation for AI Sample Clock.vi) is used. This function necessary,because we start data acquisition each time on arrival TTL impulse, andrepeated creation of the virtual channel of data acquisition with the newtrigger spend a lot of time.
    The problem consists in the following. Generation of the data from other card should occur on the same impulse TTL as for the data acquisition card and then generation zero value.
    How I can realize it? I planned to change the form of an impulse of generation when detected TTL an impulse, without reinitialize process.

  • Lost HD Channel Signals Two Years in a Row

    A few months ago my Sky Sports HD channels started showing no signal Error 25, along with the BBC HD channels. It was like this for the multiroom box and main box, so I guess it was a problem with the dish's alignment or something. Only option according to Sky was to have an engineer out for €60 or so. The thing is, this exact same thing had happened the year before, and I paid for an engineer to come out. I didn't feel it was fair to have to pay again so soon so I just dropped the HD. I still feel it was pretty lousy the way it was dealt with by Sky, for the following reason: If my area is suitable for a HD multiroom service, as it had been up to then, you would think that the engineer would have fixed the problem and I would not lose service before another year had gone by. So did the engineer do a satisfactory job, and if not, why should I have to pay again? On the other hand, if the engineer did a perfect job and something about where my dish is located or the area I live in means that the service is unreliable and engineer charges for misaligned dishes might be a regular occurrence, then surely I should not be encouraged to maintain the service. However, this is exactly what happened when I tried to ring to see if there was a way the service charge could be waived. The Sky representative wouldn't waive the charge but instead offered a discount on future bills if I tied into HD again for another number of months, which means that he was interested in keeping me on the service for longer. But how is this responsible if the area I live in is not suitable to receive Sky. When I say 'not suitable' I mean the necessity of an extra €60 yearly on top of the subscription charges just to receive a satisfactory service? In the end I dropped HD and in the months since Sky have lost more from me than the price of the engineer charge. On top of this, I don't really feel enthusiastic about paying for Sky Sports in SD so that is an extra 36 or whatever it is they may be losing from me as I don't think I will retake this package. All I'm left with is an entertainment package I don't need and in the end I am seriously considering Freesat. I feel that the way Sky were so stingy in handling this is baffling as in the end they will be losing what could be several hundred pounds from me due to their unwillingness to show a little leeway on the engineer charge. Does anyone else think I have right to feel slightly let down, or am I being entirely unreasonable?

    "Neither Sky nor their engineer would know this until they're called out to your installation and there'll be no record of it on your account." That's true, but I thought paying for them to call out would solve it but the same thing happened, and nothing has changed, i.e. no trees or buildings changed, the satellite has a clear line of sightI agree that if you no longer consider Sky tv to be value for the subscription charges you're paying, you should cancel.I kind of did until I realised I might have a yearly engineer charge just to maintain the service. Would this (needing multiple call-outs) be a usual thing to happen and would people need to pay each time? I'm just curious.

  • WRT54G V. 5 - Signal Strengh problem

    Pretty much, i just recently got both a HDTV and a PS3 (Playstation 3). All of this was moved into my room and is about 30 feet away from my updated firmwire WRT54G V. 5 router. My signal strengh is at a whooping 50% and its not what i want. My question is this, if i go out and get a new router (Wireless-N), would it A: Get the signal strengh to around 100%, B: Be worth it? I mean, i would have to put out $150 dollars for a Wireless-N router, so is it worth it? And if not, does anyone have any suggestions or comments or tips that they would like to share with me?
    Thanks,
    Shane

    This is online gaming 101. Playing through a router hardwired can be a pain in the you know what. Playing through a router wirelessly is even worse. You should always hardwire your connection where possible. It amazes me what people will put up with in order to not spend a little time and run some ethernet cable to there router. if you really must connect wirelesslly you need to eliminate any and all obstructions. Since you cant moves walls the position of the router is essential. Place the router in a location where your PS3 can get a good connection. this isnt a matter of buying a new router. I have the same router and actually get a great connection no matter where i am in my house with my laptop. for gaming I connected My PS2 to the router with ethernet cable. Its the best way for gaming. Then DMZ your game system so as to not block any ports and your all set. gaming on a wireless connection is like Driving a race car with your feet. Sure you could do it but Why???
    Help fight lag! Wire up that gaming machine!!!!!

  • How do i make my mac choose wireless networks based on signal strengh

    i have a MBP, the newest one and i was wondering of there was a way to make it conect to different wireless networks depending on signal strengh. this is because it being a laptop it moves around the house and as we have several routers sometimes it connects to one that is very far away even when it is next to another. if anyone has a solution it wuld be mych appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    According to the specifications here, the MBR1000 router has four LAN ports. Any G3 model has built-in Ethernet (an RJ-45 port). This means that you should be able to establish at least a wired connection.
    A DSL modem (if it has Ethernet output) would be connected to the WAN port of the router. Apparently, the router in question is capable of using a 3G mobile broadband (USB or ExpressCard) modem as an alternative Internet source.
    For a (local) Wi-Fi connection between computer and router, you could connect a wireless Ethernet bridge (also known as a gaming adapter) to the G3's Ethernet port. Wireless Ethernet bridge examples include D-Link DWL-G820, Linksys WET54G and Linksys WGA600N. These devices do not require special drivers, and can thus be used under almost any operating system.

    Why does my sony tv pick up my apple tv but my new LG has no signal from the HDMI input?

    Hi midknightsurfer,
    Welcome to the Sony Community!
    Please try the following troubleshooting steps.
    Check for a firmware update for your router.
    Make sure the router is broadcasting the Service Set Identifier < SSID >.
    Please try other device/s. Connect them to your network (wired/wireless) then test those units.

  • Possible to create a new MainStage empty channel strip? (sans Rhodes!)

    Is there any way to create a blank new software inst channel strip; i.e. without the EVP88+fx default setting? As it stands I have to use the "Reset Channel Strip" command everytime... totally annoying, especially since creating new channels and resetting them doesn't happen instantaneously.
    mitchell sigman

    I just tried it and it works fine.
    Do this:
    - Choose 'Reset Channel Strip' in the Settings popup at the top of a channel strip
    - Choose 'Save Channel Strip Setting...' from the same menu and give it a name, like Empty
    - In the Channel Strip Settings browser select the strip you just saved
    - Use the Set as Default Channel Strip command
    I followed these steps and I get an empty strip when I add a new SI strip or create a new patch with an SI strip. I'm assuming that you're resetting the strip to clear the plug-ins then immediately using the Set as Default command. This won't work since you haven't selected it in the settings browser first.

  • NEW SCI-FI CHANNEL

    Is anyone else having trouble picking up sound for the new SCI-FI channel?  I get a picture, but no sound on my DVR-equipped tv.

    I'm having the exact same problem (on the same channel) on one STB, the other 2 are getting the sound just fine.
    However, on one of the other STB's I lost the HISTORY channel altogether.  I still receive it on the other 2 STB's.
    Does anyone have any idea on how to correct these problems?
    A solution would be greatly appreciated.

  • Poor Airport signal strengh

    A friend of mine has a 1.6 GHz G5 iMac which has a very poor signal strengh even though his iMac is right next to his wireless router (Netgear). His daughter uses a PC laptop and gets very good signal anywhere in the same house.
    A few weeks ago my friend brings his iMac to my house. I have a Apple network with five Mac's and my friends iMac only just picks up my network even though it is right next to an Airport Express.
    All my Mac's are Airport which get max signal strengh with even my iBook getting a great signal outside (weather permitting).
    We checked the aerial connection to his Airport Card which seems fine and my friend says that his signal strengh has always been poor since he fitted his Airport card. His Card seems to work O.K. but sometimes struggles to connect.
    My friend is running 10.4.3. as i was until i updated.
    Would removing and refitting Airport card help.
    Anyone with any ideas.
    Neil.

    Neil, ABSOLUTLY, There have been several reports of Airport Extreme cards coming from the factory not seated properly. It appears that just pusing them in is not enough, they must be two thumbed very hard in order for them to seat properly. The problem you describe fits this to a tee.

  • New Airport Extreme dropping signal intermittently

    Frequently my signal fails for no apparent reason, it shows full power on the status bar but sometimes it just looses my base station, then finds it, then find others in the building then looses them all again and so on. I have reconfigured the bases station, restarted the modem, renewed the DHCP lease but remains a problem. Most annoying.
    My mac is older and the Airport Extreme card could be faulty I guess??
    Any help is appreciated.

    I would suspect wireless interference before failing hardware. There are only three non-overlapping channels in the 802.11g spectrum, and it's subject to interference from other 2.4 GHz devices like cordless phones and microwave ovens. The best you can do is try to mitigate noise and interference from competing networks.
    Are your network preferences set to join your network (by default, join "your wireless network name")?
    Try changing the wireless channel from "automatic" to some fixed channel, and experiment with different channels. Try enabling interference robustness.
    Ironically, the popularity of wireless networking has contributing to the 802.11g standard's increasing uselessness. The draft 802.11n standard uses a different spectrum and more efficient means of handling data, with the cost of a reduced ability to penetrate obstructions.
    This is a mixed blessing... we want our own wireless networks to have a big range; our neighbor's, small
    The following quote from Enterprise Networking Planet seems to describe your situation:
    2.4 GHz wireless LANs can experience RF interference from cordless phones, microwaves, and other existing wireless LANs. The interfering signals degrade the performance of a wireless network by periodically blocking users and access points from accessing the shared air medium. If it's not possible to reduce potential interference in the 2.4 GHz band to an acceptable level, consider deploying a 5 GHz system. The noise floor in the 5 GHz band is generally lower compared to the 2.4 GHz band, which allows 802.11n to function at higher data rates.
    Since you have a newer 802.11n Extreme, you ought to look into a 802.11n USB wireless dongle for your iBook - they're not expensive. Shop around.

  • Brand new Ea4500 wack 5ghz signal after 5 meters

    I just bought a ea4500 yesterday and I'm a little disapointing about performance. I configured the router etc and after a few test my 2.4 ghz band when I'm connect It's running at 72 mbps and the 5ghz  it's 150 mbps when i'm at 1 meter of the routeur  for both.
    But i'm living in an appartement of 3 rooms my routeur and computer are in a room and when I try to see the connection to my ps3 in the living room which is at 12-15 meter the 5ghz lost maybe 50% of signal ... compare to my old linksys wrt54g 54mbps and was running like a charm but not for streaming on the ps3 but I was getting more signal !. I know it's was on the 2.4ghz band but this router the ea4500 is suppose to perform the 5ghz for streaming etc so i'm having a little bit of confusion with that because the main purpuce I bought it was to stream movies from my pc (which is directly connect to the router(with rj45) to my ps3 in the living room but if i'm not even able to get at least 80 % 90 % of range I'm thinking that I will have trouble to stream movies ?? .
    My pc has a gigabyte network card also.
    Also the router mentionned It's 450 mbps on 2.4 and 5ghz so Why i'm only getting 72 mbps on 2.4 and 150 mbps on 5ghz if I am at 1 meter of the router ..
    Thk for future help with that because otherwise I'm going to return this router to the store and replug my old wrt54g   I'm a fan of linksys I always thrust there product for quality etc but now with this i'm sceptical.

    The wireless-G router that you have, was it placed on the same room where the new router is now? The range for the 5 GHz network is for short distances only. You may try to set the channel on the 5 GHz to 153 if you only have it on Auto. Make use of WPA security also for faster internet speeds.

  • New user - All channels not working/poor strength ...

    Hi,
    New installer, only getting around 20 channels when searching, and none of them work.
    Signal strength fluctuates from 70% - 0%,Quality 20% - 0%
    I have done lots of trial & error techniques, checked all cabling multiple times and thats fine, in bulit freeview on the TV searches, and finds all channels and has perfect picture quality, so its not the TV, now the weird thing is, I have tested BT vision box on another known working TV and BT vision works fine on that picks up all channels that its should and has 90% - 90%, so basically everything works fine, just BT Vision does not work on my main downstairs TV, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Ok not quite enough info here to give a definitive answer yet.
    You say you tested it on another TV in the same house from the same aerial feed?
    Vision has two tuners as do all PVRs and needs therfore a stronger signal for it work and it sounds as though you might be on the borderline?
    Can you  give us more info please as to your exact set up?

  • Creation of new internal delivery channel using AQ

    Hi,
    I wanted to route one of Trading partner data to a different queue.(no want to use existing queues - IP_IN /IP_OUT queue).
    This needs to create a new delivery channel using AQ in B2B.
    I have gone thru the steps & entered all entries, but I am not able to find any queues created in B2B schema.
    Do I need to create a queue using PL/SL in B2B to make it available as internal delivery channel or this setup itself will create a queue in B2B?
    PFA the entirs:
    for transport parameters
    - transport server (B2B server IP)
    - Protocol as AQ
    -URI - b2b.<uri_name> (name of Queue, wanted to create)
    - Hostname
    - Port
    -SID - b2b
    -consumer - b2buser
    - receiptient - null
    -Polling interval - 6000
    Transport server details:
    Host name - (IP)
    IP - Host IP
    username -
    Pswd - for B2B schema
    Any pointers will be a great help.
    Regards,
    MS

    As mentioned by TH in the above post, first thing is to create the data type that is used for messages - IP_MESSAGE_TYPE. This data type will already be present in the B2B database and could be reused.
    For a new data type you could do the following.
    ==============================================================
    Create a new data type using the following
    ==============================================================
    create type IP_MSG_TYPE as OBJECT (
         MSG_ID VARCHAR2(128),
         INREPLYTO_MSG_ID VARCHAR2(128),
         FROM_PARTY VARCHAR2(512),
         TO_PARTY VARCHAR2(512),
         ACTION_NAME VARCHAR2(512),
         DOCTYPE_NAME VARCHAR2(512),
         DOCTYPE_REVISION VARCHAR2(512),
         MSG_TYPE INT,
         PAYLOAD CLOB,
         ATTACHMENT BLOB
    Once you have created a new Data type ( or are reusing the existing data type), you need to create Queue Table that will hold the Outbound and Inbound message queues. The existing Queue table is "IP_QTAB" which can again be reused.
    For new Queue table you could do the following
    ==============================================================
    Create a new Queue Table using the following
    ==============================================================
    execute dbms_aqadm.create_queue_table (     queue_table => 'MY_QTAB',
                             queue_payload_type => 'IP_MSG_TYPE',
                             multiple_consumers => FALSE);
    If you need to reuse the datatype change the queue_payload_type to 'IP_MESSAGE_TYPE'.
    Once we have the Queue Table that will hold the queues, we need to add and start the queues that are to be used for the inbound and outbound messages.
    ==============================================================
    Create the new Queues into the Queue Table using the following
    ==============================================================
    execute dbms_aqadm.create_queue (queue_name => 'B2B.MY_OUT_QUEUE', queue_table => 'B2B.MY_QTAB');
    execute dbms_aqadm.create_queue (queue_name => 'B2B.MY_IN_QUEUE', queue_table => 'B2B.MY_QTAB');
    execute dbms_aqadm.start_queue(queue_name => 'B2B.MY_OUT_QUEUE', dequeue => TRUE, enqueue => TRUE);
    execute dbms_aqadm.start_queue(queue_name => 'B2B.MY_IN_QUEUE', dequeue => TRUE, enqueue => TRUE);
    If you are reusing the queue table IP_QTAB for creation of new queues, then reference that for the queue_table in above commands.
    You need to reference the queue_name eg. B2B.My_OUT_QUEUE in the B2B UI screen.
    Hope this helps.
