    Hi,
    Yes both are compatible.
    What is your power supply?
Also did you try any different cable for video between GPU and TV/monitor? Maybe try different monitor too.
Hello ah, so the card and the MoBo are compatible? thats great!
PSU is Corsair CX750M 750W ATX 80+ Bronze PC Power Supply
also i will try a newer monitor that just has a DVI wire rather than using a converter

    OMG !!!!
Something is really weird about this bios !!!!
I can't boot overclocked from bios even at 220 HT, and at the beginning i was REALY disapointed.
Then i set it to optimize defaults ( and yes i did the whole flashing thing ) and i am now IN WINDOWS with my cheapo Kingston Value that did MAX 230 with problems NOW AT A WOOPING 237 Mhz and still going UP !!!!
    OMG OMG....
If only i can get it to boot from bios.Seems pretty stable in windows even at 237.
Really strange guys.I thought 230 was my memory limit....
Gonna try higher and let you know.
P.S. this bios seems to like Kinston Ram....Value at least

  • New BIOS for MSI R290X Lightning

Hey. After some googling I learned that I need a new BIOS to control the fans etc with the Catalyst 14.4 driver.
    My serial number is: 602-V307-04SB1402054122
Not sure what the difference is between GOP and UEFI bios though..? And which one of those I need. My current BIOS version is TV307MS.101. (Atleast that's what MSI Live Update 6 tells me)
Ohh, and here is a link to the BIOS I have right now. https ://www(dot)dropbox(dot)com/s/zvjrrog4c61y2oq/Hawaii.rom                                     (Had to chop the link up a bit)
    Thanks for all the help!

Your vbios is a legacy one which just supports bios legacy mode. A UEFI/GOP vbios supports UEFI mode of modern boards for ultra fast booting (but also supports legacy mode).
The latest UEFI/GOP vbios also fixes the fan control issue in Cat. 14.x. You can use the same and follow the directions in the following link: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=180521.msg1298693#msg1298693

  • Request new BIOS for MSI R9 270 GAMING 2GB

Hi there, I use W7SP1 with a Gigabyte GA-H87-HD3 mobo and the 13.12 drivers(14.4 suffer from very high OpenCL to Direct3D interop lag unfortunately, which is a showstopper with madVR) and I just bought this board with the exact same BIOS version number as on this link: techpowerup (.com)/vgabios/149707/msi-r9270-2048-131106.html
It's fairly silent under load and I'm happy with that, but when idle the fans seem hardlocked to 1040 rpm
Whatever fan percentage higher than 18% does increase the fan rpm speed, but anything lower still gives 1040 rpm.......what is the point to cool the GPU down to 28°C when its TJmax is 95°C? I would like to drop the fans speed when idle to maybe 700/800rpm and get the GPU to reach 40°C or so?
I run a SSD with a 350rpm oversized CPU fan, a passive PSU and several oversized case fans that also run very slowly, those 1040rpm are killing me....I used to own a VTX3D Vchamp HD7850 that allowed me to make my own custom fan speed curve in Afterburner: dead-silent when idle and slowly ramped up under load, perfect
Of course its cooler was a joke compared to your TF4 but you can see that Asus are now releasing graphic cards that are semi-passive with their fans shutting off until the GPU reaches 65°C, it makes no sense to me to use the TF4 at 1040 rpm when idle(and even more so on the 70W TDP GTX750Ti).
Long story short, I would really appreciate an unlocked BIOS please so I could build my own fan speed curve in Afterburner as I used to. I do plan on buying the future Maxwell's(a twice faster 750Ti would be awesome), I dearly hope that you will reevaluate your TF4 fan speed curves because otherwise I would more than likely buy a semi-passive Asus next time. Talk about wasted potential
I guess you hardlocked it so dumb ppl wouldn't set the fans to a fixed very low speed and toast the board, but posting an unlocked BIOS on your forum that's aimed at power users is just showing that you care. I know EVGA did post this kind of BIOS updates recently and you polished the TF4 cooler to such extents that it's truly a crying shame to be stuck at 1040 rpm and 28°C when idle
There is no question that TF4 is extremely effective under load with a 150W TDP GPU, but you can see that the 270X Powercolor board is quieter when idle in this comparison: tomshardware (.com)/reviews/radeon-r9-270-benchmark-review,3769-5.html
Hope you can help, I will gladly spread the word on HTPC forums because this board is close to perfection when using madVR.
Thank you very much in advance

OK thanks for the reply, but the 18% cap seems BIOS based...I have a hard time believing that they can't run any lower than 1040 rpm
Are you a mod? Working for MSI? This looks like a wild guess more than an official reply if you don't mind me saying.
For the record, that VTX3D board I mentioned in my previous PM was able to go down to 1%.
I would fix it myself but there are no BIOS editors for the R9 serie apparently....MSI simply capped the lowest PWM value: tpucdn dot com/rbe/RBE_Fan.png
Whatever way their speed's being throttled(PWM or voltage), they must be able to go slower than that. I could provide you links but EVGA did make clear that they capped the lowest speed of the fans on some of their boards so dumb users wouldn't fry them but they were entirely able to release unlocked BIOS binaries.
At this point I could either return it or unplug its fans and slap a 600rpm 140mm fan onto the board using zip ties.......it's just amazing that MSI managed to ultimately fail on such a detail. All the work put into the TF4 cooler goes down the drain
flobelix seems able to help, I hope he'll chime in: forum-en.msi dot com/index.php?topic=180521

Fan controller actually can control the fans, and the GPU gets less hot

  • Is Intel i5 4460 compatible with default factory bios of MSI B85M-Gaming?

I would like to know if it is compatible, BIOS wise. I use http://pcpartpicker.com/ to check for compatibility and says that some Intel B85 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Haswell Refresh CPUs.
However it seems to be so since http://www.msi.com/support/mb/B85M-GAMING.html#support-cpu: Says 7823vA0, which seems to be the factory default bios version.
Would be nice for MSI to specify the default bios version as part of the specs or outside of packaging without having to power up  the computer just to confirm what bios does the motherboard currently have.

ok thanks. Not all the time though a customer gets to look at the serial number of a motherboard box just to get that information, which still is a risk. (i.e. planning which parts to buy online/buying online) Since my B85M Gaming isn't available, i got a B85-G43 instead and an i5 4460 with it. I was worried that i was buying a non-compatible CPU and it wouldn't work as i was strictly following the CPU-bios support list (later found out that i was wrong doing this, due to the serial number dating on the board. I wouldn't know what the time stamp on it would be either until I inspected it or bought it, which is still a risk): http://www.msi.com/support/mb/B85G43.html#support-cpu
The sales techie then said that it would work because "nobody came back to them with a cpu-bios complaint" and they generalized that the LGA XXXX just need to correspond/match between CPU and motherboard. He says they stay away from BIOS upgrade since it might brick the board (which I also agree there's risk) and that its not going to be covered by their warranty policy.
So if i stayed away from the BIOS update, but the cpu would run as they claim - then will my system be unstable? (i.e. random Bsods, etc.) I guess it depends on the update itself too if it contains needed support for cpu X.
Also what else matters (general guidelines) for processor compatibility (apart from LGA XXXX, socket-wise)?
Processor stepping? (C0 ~ i guess this stepping is most safely assumed to be compatible? Seems common/base-level).
Serial Number manufacture date. But that only tells me when the board was made, i haven't found a site that lists the release date of the bios file version of the motherboard and then just assume that the board has that bios version with respect to its date.
Wattage - related with TDP, as long as the CPU doesn't exceed the mobo's limit for cpu wattage.

  • Any new BIOS for Z97 G45 Gaming ? USB issue

I have a MSI Z97 G45 Gaming with latest BIOS 2.40 but since I've bought this mobo there is a problem with USB ports under MS Windows 7/8.1 and latest Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9860. The problem is with gaming keyboard Saitek Cyborg. This keyboard working only when is connected to the front USB panel (right side). Rear USB ports (even 3.0) and left front USB port are not recognizing this keyboard. Under Linux, BIOS and DOS everything is ok.
    Please fix it.
    Thank you.

Does the LED lights on when you plug in? What does it show under device manager? Did you install the keyboard driver??? where does the front USB panel connect to this mobo?

Seems to have solved the problem of not having a signal to my 4K monitor through DP on boot.
    Also no problems so far...
I've read several posts about this being the wrong bios for my serial #.
    My serial is 602-V317-15SB.....
Can you please confirm that I have the correct bios?
