New Bios for 865PE Neo2 FISR2

Does anyone have any idea when a new BIOS version might come out for the 865PE boards might come out?  I'm wondering because I was hoping one might come out to fix the problems they are having with OCZ and other ram's with manual cnofigurations and overclocking
Thanks
Trevor

I think it would do MSI better if they better organize their "tweak options" so people can understand what's going on and NOT end up surprised.
E.g. as observed by PeteJ61 in with memory timing = by SPD and  DRAM Freq = Auto
[ http://www.msi.com.tw/program/e_service/forum/index.php?threadid=24347&boardid=10&styleid=1 ]
SLOW = no PAT/MAT + standard memory SPD settings + standard FSB + standard AGP/PCI
FAST = PAT/MAT + fast memory timing + overclocked FSB overclocked AGP/PCI
TURBO = PAT/MAT + fastER memory timing + overclocked FSB + overclocked AGP/PCI
ULTRA = PAT/MAT + fastEST memory timing + overclocked FSB + overclocked AGP/PCI
standard AGP/PCI = 66/33 MHz vs overclocked AGP/PCI = 70/35 MHz
on "C" rev P4's, standard FSB = 200MHz vs overclocked FSB = 210 MHz
So if you want to be able to individually control them:
1. To control PAT/MAT, select SLOW vs FAST
2. To control memory timing, select anything other than Auto in DDR timing
My main problem is that Neo BIOS 1.6 (and probably Neo2 also) does NOT allow selection of standard AGP/PCI clock once I move up the FSB - bummer :( . For this, I use a windows utility named ClockGen to fine tune down to reasonable levels.
Would there be a valid reason why MSI just didn't select fixed ratios rather than all this "fine tuning"?

Anyone noticed a slight slowdown of the processor? I'll have to get back home to doublecheck all BIOS settings, but checking this with Sandra (which has been accurate so far for CPU speed testing) BIOS 1.0 and 1.1 showed identical speeds...BIOS 1.2 is 10% slower.
let us know what you find out....curious myself because i already checked bios and nothing changed after update

  • New Bios for K7T266 Pro2-RU

    Hi All,
Are there any new bios' for the K7T266 PRO2-RU (i.e., above 3.7), that will support the AMD 2200+, 2400+ Processors once the Modification is done?
    Thanks.
    Craig

    Hi,
The K7T266pro2 (MS-6380 V2.0) needs the modification to support all the latest 266FSB (TBred) CPU's because there is a timing change, removing the capicitor solves this and allows you to get the CPU starting.
MSI's official statement is that they don't support this as the board is long out of production.
However, they where nice enough to give us the modification in order to give you the posibility to get it running.
They're plan was to stop releasing BIOS'ses at v3.60 because there was no need to release another.
I convinced them to release 3.70 that has updated CPU-ID code for all 266FSB CPU's, and no again, they still don't support any CPU over the fastest Palomino officialy.
What they did was giving us the posibility to use an outdated board a bit longer, be happy about that.
As for the testing of CPU's on this board, that stopped at BIOS 3.50...
Any given board will fade away at some point in time, thanks to MSI (unofficialy), the K7T266pro2 with the modification can be used a bit longer......
All you need for the right multiplier is leave it at auto....as the correct one is hardcoded on the CPU itself...

  • I am looking for new BIOS for HDD STORE TV

I have multi HDD STORE TV, but I am not satisfied it, because it supports very very limited number of formats.
Unfortunately does not read MKV and many other formats.
May be at somebody have new BIOS for it or from another HDD compatible that reads more formats?
    I will be very grateful.

    >May be at somebody have new BIOS for it or from another HDD compatible that reads more formats?
If something like that would be available, then you would find this on the Toshiba European driver page in the download area.
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Choosing Options -> Drive Devices -> Multimedia HDD -> 3.5 StorE TV you would get the software related to this option part but as I can see there are no updates for this time

as I write in topic, when is going to be released new bios for k9a platinum?
    thanks

That is a Kuma CPU and as such it is not and probably will not be supprted on your older MB.
Here is a list of MBs that support 7550 Kuma, 7750 it appears like is too new to be on any MSI MB CPU support list yet however it it should be supported on them as well.

  • New BIOS for Diamond Plus any problem noted yet.

Anybody using the new BIOS for the Diamond Plus Version 3.09 BIOS.
I have got it installed and upgrade went will, but be ready for changes.  Go over you BIOS Setting each and every parameter, because they have changed a lot of the defaults, like all Network controllers are disabled by default.  The have made changes to the Hyper Transport Defaults setting they are what they should have been in the first place.
Marvel Yukon network controller drivers of old will not will not load and MSI USA download for the driver is off line. Tw site is not down but not taking new requests for the drive because of traffic load.  Old nVidia network drives loaded after I enabled on board LAN on in the BIOS.
That, all I have checked out so far, Oh yes the changes in Memory BIOS setting, but have not been able to check all of the out.  If some one with experience with memory BIOS settings could check them out and give report back it would be helpful.
We asked for it now we got it, for better or worse.

Wow, funny how 2 gigs still needs a paging file with a standard desk top!
Of course, even funnier just how fast 2 gigs can be eat'n up with 3d rendering and audio/video encoding!
Just blowing my mind, remember when 32meg RAM was considered over kill?
    Ah those 3.1 days
that's not a bios issue it is a xp home and xp pro 32 bit issue.
if you want 4 gigs you need a 64 bit OS like server 2003 or xp pro 64 bit.
Yes it will run in dual channel but due to limitations you will have it run in ddr 333 *UNLESS* you have single sided 1 gig sticks.
Even with 4 gigs you will see slightly less than 4 gigs in bios, as a portion is Used there. once in windows you will see the full 4 gigs.
btw I am on my old P4 3.0e prescott as i sent in my two 7800gt's for the step up program.
They should be here by the 31st.
For what it is worth I have had 4 gigs working on this mb and cpu using ms's free dl of their 64 bit os.
It took me for ever to figure out why i was only getting 333 ddr and 3.5 gigs. this was 18 months ago.
When i ran a dual boot of the xp hom and xp 64 with 4 gigs, i did not see the support from my prefered software vendors.  So i sent back 2 gigs, and stuck with xp home. Now that i have the new amd i stepped up to xp pro 64 bit and love it.

  • When will a new BIOS for K7N2G-LISR be released

Anyone have any idea when a new BIOS for the K7N2G-LISR will be released or if a new beta bios is available :D

I have a BIOS bug for MSI.
I can't disable the tv-out function.  Therefore I can't watch any DVD's.  I have to take out my G3 to enable me to adjust the onboard GFX settings and there is no option to disable tv-out as described in the manual.
I have emailed MSI and their tech support are either extremely busy or completely useless like their software.
This is completely driving me up the fecking wall!!!
I love MSI hardware but I have to avoid any MSI software like the plague... unfortunately the BIOS is unavoidable.
MSI, please sort this or I will be forced to return my hardware and look for another brand.  I'm considering ABIT so be warned.
Could we draw up a list of bugs to give to MSI so we can try and get them sorted?
Sorry for the ranting, but theres not much I can do.  :(

  • Bios update 865PE Neo2 Fis2R

    Just setup new system
    865PE Neo2 Fis2R, 2.8 P4 retail with fan: Crucial PC3200
512: Maxtor 120 Diamond Max Plus SATA: ATI All in Wonder
    7500 64MB: Msi CR52-M
    Bios string is 1.00.1030.26
I want to go to version 4. I think this is reasonable!
First time in setup of Bios I noticed the cpu temperature
was 52 C.  What is normall range of operation??
I thought over 60 C was cause for concern and would damage the processor!!
I would like to over clock..
thanks,  so far looks like a good system. 8)

    Msipcfixer911,
Yes it is reasonable to want the latest bios for your new motherboard.
But 1.4 is not the best bios. I would advise you to do some research before upgrading.
As I see it your only choise is between 1.3 and beta 1.52 in known working bios to date.
Also your cpu temp should drop once you upgrade.
There is a lot of informative reading in this forum as any
questions you may have about you motherboard have most likly already been asked and anwsered.

  • Memory Problems - Advice on quality memory for 865PE Neo2

I have 2 x 512 MB DDR400 in Dual Channel configuration in my 865PE Neo2 mobo. It's a noname brand (the only mention on it are the letters "VM"). A friend recently warned me about the problems that my arise with cheap memory, so I ran memtest-86 and Windows Memory Diagnostic (http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp). WMD gave no errors, but memtest86 gave 2 errors. I then tested the sticks individually and standard tests gave no errors. I then ran the extended tests and it gave errors on the extra tests. However the errors were not always the same. Furthermore, sometimes a pass gave 2 errors, sometimes it gave 3. Since the memory is still under warranty I have two options:
    - Exchange for another set of noname memory sticks
    - Pay the extra cash for quality memory
I'm inclined to take the second option, so my question is:
    - What brand and model of memory do you advise? I don't overclock and I probably never will. Reliability and stability are all that matters to me. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all the input. After running memtest for almost 24 hours with various tests, here's my findings:
I didn't change a thing in my BIOS. Exactly the same settings that gave errors (everything in default mode and dinamic overclocking off). I started with memtest's default set-up:
    RSVD MEM: 112K
    MEMMAP: e820-std
    TEST: standard
I ran the test for a total of 14 passes. No errors were found.
I then, ran the extended test set-up for 10 passes. One 2 bit error was reported on the 5th pass and on the 5th pass only, in test #10.
In the light of this, I decided to run test #10 isolatedly, to see if the error showed up again. In a total of 10 passes no errors were found.
I re-run the tests once again, this time with the "ALL" test options chosen. 8 passes no errors.
I then decided to change the "memory sizing" feature to "ALL BIOS" to test those remaining 112K that were no tested in the default set-up. The program jammed at test #3 after having reported 122 000 errors!   memtest's manual says this is not a stable test configuration on some mobos. I guess that is an understatement!
So, I decided to change "memory sizing" to "probe" mode which is supposed to be more thourough that the others and more stable than "all bios". After 11 passes, no errors were reported.
What can I conclude from all this testing? Probably, that 1 or 2 sporadic errors have little or no meaning. Also, that memtest should be run more than once in order to have enough data for a reliable conclusion.
As things stand, I believe I'll just make one more test: play some fast n' furious 3D game for a few hours If everything runs stable there is no reason to change memory. Anyhow, the seller wouldn't change it without finding some errors on it and chances are he wouldn't.
I would like to hear the opinions and thoughts of others on this experience. Thanks.

  • New Bios for K8N Neo 2?

I belong to the overlockers.com forum. People over there are dropping MSI's left and right because of stability issues and overclocking problems. This is not to mention the quirky temp readings and vcore settings. It seems that some of these issues could be addressed by a new bios. These same issues have been fixed by Epox with their bios updates. When is MSI going to get this done? I suggest it should be soov or the reputation of this board and MSI are going to ake a beating.
