New BIOS Posted

Hey All W100 and 105 owners...Toshiba US has posted a new BIOS. It has some major changes. I installed the night, so far so good...
Version 1.30 - 2011-01-26
•Improved Battery Management.
•Improved Deploy Center 5.5 recovery speed.
•Added support for the McAfee Endpoint Encryption eToken.
•Added support for the Paragon Backup & Recovery Suite.
•Implemented the INTEL specification for the Intel 5 Series Chipset to improve stability.
•Implemented the INTEL specification for the Intel Pentium U5400 Mobile Processor Series to improve stability.

I installed this yesterday and it looks like this may have helped the battery run-down problem when the PC is switched-off or hibernated.  After leaving it overnight I still have 98% battery left, this seems to be a major improvement but will need to leave it for a few more days to make sure.

  • NEW BIOS version for Satellite A200 PSAEC!

They've posted new Bios updates on the download page!
5.20-WIN : This Bios is NOT compatible for Notebooks with Windows Vista!!!
1.80-WIN : This Bios is ONLY compatible for Notebooks with Windows Vista!!!
But I don't really know how to use this. Because I have currently XP installed. Let's assume I update the bios with the XP version. What if I decide later to put back the Vista? That would be impossible, because I have BIOS for XP. And couldn't install the Vista BIOS neither, as i have XP installed...
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
its not so tragically if you have a XP bios and vista installed. It will work but with many limitations and it wont work stable, so its better to have the version which is intended for the operating system you currently use.
Thanks for posting this news, I assume that many uses with that machine appreciate some good news. :)

  • Is there a new bios coming for P6N SLI Platinum for E8400 ?

         Hi everyone,
( My system specs are in the signature )
I have been thinking to upgrade my cpu to E8400, but after some time passing through the forums, internet and asking some of my friends, I have decided not to. This is because I have seen many people frustrated and trying get their E8xxx's working on their moboard with endless efforts because of the wrong information given in the CPU support list of P6N-SLI Platinum. Yet, I have seen that only a few people have managed to get it work but with risky, manual adjustments.
So here is my question, will there be a new bios for P6N SLI Platinum that will make E8xxx series post without any adjustments for the users that want to stick with their P6N SLI Plat.?

    Please ask here:

Here are the specs for your Compaq Presario SR1710NX Desktop Computer and its A8AE-LE (AmberineM) motherboard. According to the specs, this model was introduced for sale on or around 27-Nov-2005. The most current version of the BIOS for this model is A8AE-LE BIOS Update v3.15 2007-11-30. This update doesn't indicate that it resolves issue with video problems.

  • KT4 ultra new bios

When is MSI going to update its bios? still the buggy 1.4 bios is the latest. The bad CPU-mobo temperature readings must be fixed!!!

    Hi:
It's still a mistery when MSI is going to post a new BIOS for KT4 Ultra.
They currently have a version that is still BETA, so if you're interested, yo can go at MSI support and they'll send it to you via e-mail. This version supposed to fix the same monitring problem but I see no difference between this version and verson 1.4.
    Hope that helps.

  • SLI issue with N660Ti-2GD5/OC (new bios request)

    Hi,
It started all with issue regarding SLI performance under F1 2012 game.
When SLI is enable I can't get more then 30FPS average. I try changing SLI rendering mode with no luck... nothing change.
I noticed that when SLI is enable I only get 25% GPU usage per card and my 3D GPU clock is not reaching MSI declare speed.
When SLI disable everything is working normally. I get 58FPS average, 95-100% GPU usage and my 3D GPU clock is working at MSI declare speed (I think it is 1020MHz).
So I suppose that this is negative SLI scaling...
I was doing some testing and SLI (I have enable show SLI visual indicator) doesn't work properly in any game that I have install on my pc (F1 2010, BF3, BC2 and NFS Shift).
I have same issue in all games: low gpu usage, 3d clocks doesn't reach declare speed (with three, two or only one monitor connected).
So next I installed Heaven Benchmark 4.0 and started testing and for some unexplainable reason SLI is working normally.
After that I started games again but no GO ... again in games SLI is not working correctly.
I was thinking that maybe my SLI profile are not working right... so I decided to change driver, I try 320.14 and 314.22 nothing change - SLI not working correctly.
Then I download nvida inspector and try to define SLI profile for those games - nothing change - SLI still not working correctly.
I even try to disable first card through device manager so I can test the second card and vice verse, separately both cards are working normally.
So only in Haven benchmark 4.0 SLI is working correctly I have GPU usage of 95% and declare speed for 3D clocks.
I have Win8x64 (fresh install), nothing overclocked, I enable Prefer maximum performance in nVidia drivers and disable V-sync. CPU Fx-8350, Asus sabertooth fx990 rev.2 (latest bios), 1200W chieftec power supply and everything is properly connected.
Is there a new bios release for my cards? Maybe this could solve my issue? And who can supply me with new bios?
Sorry for long post but I am really desperate... any thoughts or maybe solution.
    Regards

Well my monitor doesn't support more then 1680x1050, but still if this is the case I think that ATI is the way to go... my humble opinion.
So now I can sell my second card because SLI doesn't work... I am totally depressed.
Ok but can someone please, please supply me with new firmware for the cards? I just one to try it just to know that I tried everything before I go and sell those cards and go for ATI solution.
    Regards

  • Help with the new Bios 1.56 AND RAM Q

can high voltage for Ram, A-DATA 2X512 DDR500   2.85 for this case, can cause instablity, how do i know when to raise it, because it look like running fine with 2.70, and i oced it to 270mhz , 4000 in sandra.   so what should the voltage be? and what problem can high voltage do?
and in the new bios there is the REFRESH RATE (TREF)  and some crazy numbers, how should i know what to set it,
in A64 TWEAKER there is same option, Refresh Rate (TREF) , of course i am using the 200mhz, but can the 200mhz 15.6us cause to instabilty instead of the 3.9us ?
when ocing or not? how should i know if it causing any problems?
I am very very confused because i don't know how to oc right, i sometimes have crashes and blue screens when trying to oc, because always there is one option or setting that can make the instablity and to get real, there too Freaking many,
and how do i know for sure that Agressive timing doesn't causing to any errors or anything else? crashes and all kind.
PLZ if someone could answer those question i will be greatly happy, because i have no idea what to look for and i have some anoying problem with that, my ram is good for ocing and i really want stable ram with max speed.
and i think i am using the 1T i cant change it or anything. no where to change anyway.

  • Bios Post error message K9N sli AMD 64x2

I have just built as per my profile below.
After POST, and before entering the Windows load, I get this error message.
"Not enough space in Runtime area!!. SMBIOS data will not be available."
I had great difficulty loading drivers from the CD supplied with the board, as the menu did not display the full list of options. I assume this is because the SMBIOS data did not properly indicate board, procesor and operating system detail?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    All is fixed..
Thank you all for your kind help and interest in the problems of a complete stranger. It just shows how wonderful these forums are. Thank you.
I flashed the BIOS to rev 1.3. this updated and cleared NVram etc.
    Flashing was a nightmare.
I had to create a win 98 boot disk, but It would not recognise NTFS drives. Noting the warning not to flash from floppies, I then burnt a CD with the new BIOS, and addressed the CD from a boot floppy with win98 cd drivers.

  • P67A-GD55 Rev B3, When a new bios including Intel Raid Oprtion Rom 10.6.0.1091

P67A-GD55 Rev B3, When a new bios including Intel Raid Oprtion Rom 10.6.0.1091 ?
    Hello,
I am the owner of a MSI motherboard P67A-GD55 (Rev B3).
The operating system Windows 7 Pro 64 bit is installed on a disk in AHCI OCZ Vertex 3120 Go SATA0 mounted on the port (version 3).
I get many bugs and blue screens.
This would be resolved with the latest driver Intel Rapid Storage Technology 10.6.0.1022.
It must been associated with a bios with the Intel RAID Option ROM 10.6.0.1091.
The latest bios for my motherboard is 1.E (or 1.14) version which includes Intel RAID Option ROM 10.5.0.1034.
Are there plans to release a new bios with the new ROM?
If not, is there a way to include the last Intel Option Rom in the bios 1.E?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
    SM

I have motherboard MSI X58A-GD65 bought in September.
It is possible to flash it new BIOS v.23.0 or not?
    Now i have BIOS v. 22.1

    Hello every body.
Does anyone check 7522vM3 22.3 bios?, the 22.2 was a disaster, but what about 22.3?, or perhaps it works and resolve the problem of suspension state when you make overclocking.
    Code: [Select]

    X58 Pro / X58 Pro SLI / X58 Pro-E / X58 Pro-E SLI = BIOS version 8xx
    X58A-GD45 = BIOS version Pxx
    X58A-GD65 = BIOS version Mxx
    X58A-GD65 = BIOS version Nxx

No need to post BIOS Mxx & Nxx since there are different BIOS version
    with the same marketing name.
    X58A-GD65 (MS-7522) V22.3 BIOS Release
    1. This is AMI BIOS release
    2. This BIOS fixes the following problem of the previous version:
    -  Update CPU micro code.
    -  Improved memory compatibility.
    -  Update LAN option ROM.

    My experience with X58A-GD65 Bios
22.0 = dont get out from suspension state, Overclock runs ok
22.1 = it runs ok, OC ok
22.2= it has lots of problems, the main is the inestability of raid 0 over SSD, lots of blue screens, OC inestable.
So, dont upgrade to 22.2, stay in 22.1.
The upgrade of the bios shoud be done from the BIOS (you have an option to upgrade with an usb memory stick).

  • S10 - new BIOS anytime recently?

A few months back, when I was first configuring my new S10 (6423-27G), I reported some BIOS issues after I installed an additional 4Gb of RAM. Basically, I could not convince Setup to record the new 6Gb RAM amout, so on each reboot, I got POST failures.
Eventually, rebooting after swapping a system board jumper enabled me to clear CMOS and start over, and now the machine boots fine ...
... except, of course, when I have a USB thumb drive inserted ("Configuration Error"), and other such things. Likewise, I cannot set a Setup password: at each boot up, POST complains there has been a configuration change.
In short, it appears that having a Setup password stops all manner of POST functions from working properly, and someone (Erik) suggested a new BIOS might be coming out.
Anyone know if one has, yet? And if so, does it fix these problems?

  • Where is that new BIOS MSI?

I wish you hadn't said anything about the release date Bas  . I can't sit still over here .

I have been lucky to be a beta user for testing the new bios version 1.25 but i dont recomend it. I have now gone back to version 1.10 as the other has sadly some strange readouts in temps and stability.
    1. The vcore is added but still it does not work OK if you enable coolnquiet, because if
then you will end up with a 800mhz cpu in windows even if you have not enbled coolnquiet inside windows.
    2. The tempreadouts is way to high, it jumps up from my 37c to 46c instead. It could be that they have throttled the tempreadings but i dont thinks so as the cpufan is still as cold as before.
    3. After playing around with this bios for some weeks i have discovered at first some
performance gain but this probarly was a user error i dont know to 100% yet. Anyway as the new bios heats my cpu my performance drops after some hours of rendering or playing 3d games. This is when comparing the old bios with this beta.
    4. Also to all who plans to hígher the vcore, you will probarly need a SUPER cooler to cool this baby down as the heat was really high only after highering it 0.5 step. But it could be a bios error i dont know. Lets give them time to complete the bios so it works 100%
    BTW.
YOU DONT NEED TO HIGHER THE VCORE TO GIVE A PERFOMANCE GAIN WITH YOUR FSB ON THE MSI BOARD. BUT YOU NEED SOM GOOD RAMS TO MAKE IT RUN STABLE.
I RUN 100% STABLE WITH 2200MHZ THATS A 200MHZ OF INCREASE. THATS A GREAT INCREASE OF PERFORMANCE.
I RECOMEND ((CORSAIR XMS PRO 3200LL)) NOTE! ONLY THESE RAMS AS I HAVE NOT ANY GOOD RESULTS WITH OTHERS. DONT FORGET TO CRANK UP THE VOLTAGE OF THE RAMS TO V2.75 OR IF YOU NEED SET IT TO V2.85
DONT FORGET TO POST YOUR RESULTS OF TEMPRATURES: http://www.3degs.net/index.php?page=mbmcfg
NOTE! This was tested on my testrig.
PERSONAL MESSAGE TO BAS:  Thanx you are doing a great work.

  • X301 Secure Erase with new BIOS

    Hi there,
I switched to an Intel X18-M SSD on my X301 some time ago. I noticed that the new BIOS was released with Secure Erase functionality some time ago. As I was going to rebuild my laptop today, I thought I would give it a go. Turns out that this was a mistake. The utility failed on the Intel SSD necessitating a reboot after running for six hours. After the reboot, it turns out that the utility has set a hard drive password on the disk (there was not one before). As I have no way to know what password it has set, I am effectively locked out of my drive and it's a brick to all intents and purposes.
Does anyone (Lenovo in particular) know what password is set during the running of the Secure Erase functionality of the latest BIOS? My only alternative is to find out if there is a default master password from Intel. Since in principle, this should be blank, I believe that I am scuppered unless someone in Lenovo can tell me what password they set using the utility.
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Andy,
    From the instructions at http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-68369:
    Turn off the computer.
    Turn on the computer.
While the "To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button" message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key. The BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If a password prompt appears, type the correct password.
Select the Security menu of the BIOS Setup Utility menu.
Select the Solid State Drive menu. The following message is displayed. Erase the Solid State Drive in the HDD bay [Enter]
    Press Enter key.
Hitting Enter key makes showing next caution message and confirmation.
Yes confirmation shows next confirmation message.
If a harddisk password was set, a password prompt appears. Type the correct password.
Further process will start after entering the harddisk password.
Press F3 key several times to exit the BIOS Setup Utility.
As I did not have a HDD password set, I did not see step 9.
The utility is intended to perform a secure erase of a SSD using the ATA command set. In order to achieve this, it must first set a password on the drive (which is why it requires the user tell it the pwd if none has been set - see the end of this post for detailed documentation of this requirement).
In normal operation, the password would be cleared at completion of the operation. Because the operation failed however, the password is currently still there. Since I do not know what it is, I have been locked out of the (very expensive) drive.
In other tools which perform a secure erase (such as HDDERASE.EXE), the password which is set is documented for situations like this. This is not a security issue, rather it is one of following the correct process as laid down by the ATA standard.
It may well be that Lenovo has used a randomly generated password, in which case they have bricked my drive. If not, and a 'default' password is in use, then there is a means to recover the drive if they would document it. Since this is not a security issue, it really shouldn't be a problem. Furthermore, since the password was set without my consent, the security issue is mine since the utility has effectively executed a denial of service on me.
See here for details of the ATA secure erase protocols to understand how the password is used:
    https://ata.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/ATA_Secure_Erase
The relevant section which explains why the Lenovo utility does this is:
"To successfully issue an ATA Security Erase command you need to first set a user password."
This is what the utility has done and by not subsequently removing it, has denied me access to my drive.
    Cheers.

  • So, has anyone had better luck with the kt4 ultra's new bios?

ive seen so many posts on here about probs with the board (mines memory related) wondering if anyone has any positive notes on the new bios, or if they are still having problems... i had to box mine back up and install the trusty old FIC board, cause i COULD NOT get the msi to work. VERY frustrating to have what seems like a great piece of hardware boxed up for bios/other issues. do the msi engineers read this board?????? come on guys.....

    the p/n is pp-303XP
thats funny cause my system is working fine now on an older mobo. ive seen many people with similar problems (see the "MSI and a total lack of support" thread) and i really dont think its the power supply. i will reiterate:
the system runs fine with only 256 megs installed (pc2400) as soon as i plug in the other stick, wallah, nothing. your saying that the 3.8 volts or whatever it is that the stick of memory consumes, prevents the computer from starting up or even posting? i seriously dont think so. ive even tried all different hardware configs (took the ati card out and replaced it with an old TNT card) and it still wont work.
i dont need to get a bigger power supply.
MSI needs to provide better support, and get off their %$#%$ and at least get a stable bios out. from the looks of the forum, these boards are totally $%^&&.

Just for the hell of it, I decided to turn down my CPU multiplier, pump the bclk to 200, and see if I could get things working with my memory running at 1600. I left the DIMM voltage at Auto in BIOS, and booted into windows. Started up the MSI Overclocking center.... and it was reporting a DIMM voltage of 1.9. I was..... shocked.... I tried to change it to 1.65 in the OC center, but my machine locked, then it rebooted 3 times and reset it's bios settings. Things seem fine, don't think my CPU was damaged.... but seriously, what the hell?
Mechsner, I know you've said you don't trust windows voltage readings. Could this be a case of inaccurate readings? Can the OC center not be trusted at all? It's matched my BIOS settings in the past.... but this time was just scary.
